| Love the
"creators" of the Sunday Drive piece...think I've met
them more than once in the last 69+ years. Friday John & I
join the 50 yr group...there have been a few times when I almost
served him ground glass with his meals, so far he has survived.
This year has quite a few milestones for the Thomson's, 50 yrs
in January, John turns 70 in Febuary, I will be 70 at the end of
June and our oldest Julie will be 50 on November 3. We've
decided to have a fiesta in the early fall when the weather is
the best and celebrate all of the above plus a few more. Today
we are getting ready for the storm that we are SUPPOSE to get
tomorrow. It is predicted to bring 4+ inches of rain and last
until next Tuesday...I won't believe it until it's filled the
rain gauge. Happy New Year to all...........jt |

| Happy New Year to all of
you good friends. I just returned from Donner where the next
storm is due tomorrow and may bring 5 feet of new snow!! That is
good news. I gave my 3 grandsons 8,11,14 snow boarding lessons
for Christmas and they really took to it. I was cruising down
the hill and moved left to avoid a fast skier when I hit the
soft snow and crossed the tips of my skis. Well, I went head
first down into the soft snow, with helmet, flipped over, lost
both skiis. Two boys stopped and asked 'are you ok man". I
said let me just check all the parts and I will let you know. I
put on the skis and made it down to the lodge for a medicinal
shot of whiskey and then took some more runs. I just have to ski
until next year when the price drops to $5 for 70 yr. old
geezers. I am back here in Lincoln and will start my move to my
new house. I have all of Jan to move a mile away. I really
should carry some of the things over just to get off some weight
that Santa brought to me. Well, I hope all is well with our
gang. I am planning a trip to Central America in June with the
adventure travel group that I like. Route of the Maya is the
trip name. Love to all wc |

| Need to see if there is
any football on tonight. Don't think I can go to sleep if
there's not. Anyway, I recorded the 7th rank team beating the
14th and should be able to sleep through it again. This morning
they were declaring the 7th ranked team the greatest... Wish
they had enough greatness to play this years lowly 2nd rank team
next season. |

| Good Morning,::Hope
everyone enjoyed their hoildays.::We went on a cruise in
November for our sons 50th birthday.::70 seems to be the magic
number. We are striving for that goal, one day at a time.::We
spent a week in Las Vegas in December. We attended the National
Finals Rodeo for the first time. Sid was a team roper a few
years ago. He lost a thumb and finally decided to call it quits.
::Sid's sister, Betty Grant Ransom, did write a book. It was her
life story. Their life in Oklahoma and their move to Corcoran.
She collected material for ever, with the thought in the back of
her mind to write a book. She joined a Writing Club a few years
ago. Her book was published two years ago. CHILDREN OF THE DUST,
it was published by Texas Tech University. It can be purchased
at Borders Book Store. She has won awards, done many book
signings, speaks at many functions and enjoys all the
opportunities it has brought to her. All of this she
accomplished in her mid-70's. ::So all who are turning 70 soon,
just do what you have always wanted to do, it is never to
late.::::Happy New Year to all,::Betty G |

| I'm telling you it's
bloody cold here!!!!! Even for this Canuck. I should have saved
a parka and a touque. It set records here last nite and we had
to cover the tomatoes and flowers. Well, we're 6 weeks after
knee replacement and we're still speaking. Amazing! Don't do it
I warn you. I guess if he hadn't had Neuropathy it would have
been a walk---. But it ain't over yet. We're trying the
Cleveland Clinic in Naples. We had a quiet holiday season.
CouldnAnd't do much. We have to stay close to home for awhile.
Good luck to you in your new digs Wayne. And David, You're
getting way out of control but you sound great. Just buzzing off
to fabulous places. Happy New Year everyone! |

| Wow! Hard to believe that
it's been a whole week with no comments on the air. David:
congratulations on the big 70. Also, looks like the pundits
should listen to the old timers-- you said that LSU would be a
winner "especially since they played a more difficult
schedule than OSU". With age comes great wisdom (in some
cases). How's the garage doing - in the rain? Come on guys- how
about some chatter. I notice that there are a lot of e-mail
addresses of the old crew, but only a few even get on the air.
It sure would be nice to hear from some of the others not
usually heard .::::Ellie: We'll be heading south in the middle
of March for a cruise with the grandchildren and may be able to
stop by for an hour or two to see you and the other half. Will
let you know more later. ::::see you'all soon.. Hank |

together in Pismo? we still know how to have some fun. After 12'
of snow has fallen up in the mountains and 6' at the ski runs I
am off on Monday to test fate again. Soon to be 70, on Cinco de

It was good to see everyone.::Tom & Shirley has done a great
job putting the reunion plans together for us. So get out your
doninoes, pratice your pool shots and dust off your golf clubs
and get ready for Sept 14, 15 & 16.::Carolyn, so good to
hear from you and we do remember Bob Springer, Sid also played

PURPOSE AND THAT IS SO WE COULD SUPPORT EACH OTHER ON OUR
JOURNEY TO HEAVEN. THAT IS OUR DESTINATION, ISN'T IT? IF ANYONE
IS NOT RECONCILED WITH GOD, BETTER TO DO IT NOW WHILE WE HAVE A
CHOICE TO ASK FORGIVENESS RATHER THAN TO WAIT UNTIL WE GO TO
MEET HIM AND HAVE NO OPTIONS. FROM 70, LIFE IS SHORT AT BEST. I

| Hello everyone,::::I
talked to Bob Springer yesterday about good old baseball times .
. . After he graduated from Corcoran he joined the Air Force and
made it a career. He is retired and lives in Kansas now. He said
he has been married 42 years and heading for more. Has 2
grandchildren high school age and he has a job just keeping up
with their sports. It was a short chat and we will talk again
when we have a chance. He did say he stayed at Pismo in 04 and
then drove through Corcoran on that trip.:: |

| Well, I finally finished
the move into my new and final house. I can now unpack boxes and
get rid of unnecessary items that have been packed and carried
around for just too long a time. I have to do this as this home
is smaller and I must get used to less is better. Just in time
to help out a son and daughter in law. The DL is starting a
business of pet grooming via travelling van. The new van is in
South Bend, Indiana and needs to be picked up and driven back to
calif. I leave tomorrow with daughter Kristy as co-pilot to fly
there and drive the van back I can only think of the movie
Fargoe. The weather report says snow and freezing temps for the
next week. Why did this happen to me in Jan and not May? Trying
to be a good Dad and Grandfather is starting to get harder each
day. Well, watch the news for any story about a lost old man in
the winter storms along highway 80 heading west with a Mobile
Poodle Spa. I bet I get stopped by police and checked out to see
if I am smuggling aliens or dope. wc |

| We've "dug up" 3
different coffins and buried them just a quickly. If you report it to
anyone then the dig up more ground to make sure it isn't an old burial
grounds for either Indians or settlers. Then they want to make sure of
the age of the deceased to make sure you haven't been planting people.
the 3 were not Indians, we had a pretty good idea who they were and
decided rather than stir up trouble we'd keep quite. I have a friend
with an old wooden coffin. She says it's a "spare" and has tons
of fun at her Halloween parties. You never know where it will be and
what use she'll get out of it for the party. She says her grandmother
said it was customary to keep one in reserve incase of sudden death and
no way to town ( pre car & phone days I think.) We have a promise of
a few clear days ahead, Hope it's true, I'm getting tired of rain. Talk
about 6 degrees of separation, my daughter Jonelle works with a person
who's husband is related to Henry Clark's wife Anna. Small world. |

| Speaking of awesome,
I went to buy gas for the car and had to bit the bullet on my normal
purchase $20. I put in $25 worth. Also, while on the awesome
subject, while Barb and I were staying with my sister in Taft, we went
to see the local Oil Museum. The most awesome
subject there was the story of the "Lakeview Gusher". The
morning of March 15, 1910, when the well came in with a roar from a
depth of 2,225 feet and blew the crown block off the top of the derrick
with an estimated initial flow of 125,000 barrels a day. It was a
roaring column of sand and oil twenty feet in diameter and two-hundred
feet high. On September 10, 1911, the well finally died. Lakeview No. 1
produced 9.4 million barrels during the 544 days it flowed. In today
prices 9,400,000 barrels x $100/barrel = $940,000,000. Now that's real AWESOME.
I added two new pictures of my soon to be garage to my page off the
member page. |

| Hi to all...Awhile back an
unwanted acquaintance came into my life and I think he is here to stay.
His name is Arthur Itis and he is a real pain in the neck or
ass..depends on the time of day. I have asked him to go away but he
justs hangs around and annoys me. I asked him when did we ever meet and
he said he was first introduced to me when I was young and strong doing
all those hard labor jobs and competing in all the contact sports..He
said that I ignored him back then but he knew I would recognize him when
it was time to make his presence known. Does anyone know how to get rid
of this Mr. Itus? wc |

| Wayne, welcome to the club...
remember no matter what, use it or loose it. I've learned that swimming
and walking keep the joints moving and Capsation is a good

silk under shirts under my sweaters to keep the joints warm when it is
cold & windy. I have it so bad in my left hand that at times I have
to wear a brace type glove when I am knitting(I refuse to give up
knitting). My problem is that any medication that works isn't good for
some other part of the body. Remember good ole Viox. Worked great but
killed people too. Just keep moving because waiting around for it to
"go away" is a loosing battle. My little sister Marie has had
rheumatoid arthritis since her early 50's. I was free for 60+ years and
feel lucky. |

YOUR FAMILY NAME AND OLDER BROTHER AND SISTER'S NAME. WAYNE, MY NEW
FOUND FRIEND IS AL EVE. THOUGH THE DR SAYS IT'S NOT ART RITUS, IT'S FROM
THE ABUSE OF THE BODY THAT HAS BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE. AL HAS WORKED FOR
ME FOR SOME TIME AND DOES A DECENT JOB. MY HEART IS STIRRED WHEN I THINK
OF THE APPROACH OF EASTER. I AM GOING TO WATCH THE CRUCIFICATION OF THE
CHRIST AGAIN JUST TO SHARPEN MY AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF WHAT GOD
HAS DONE FOR US. HOPE YOU WILL JOIN ME. LOVE, BRAD |

| Arthritis?? Don't sit down.
Ibuprofen-800mg. Eat first. Ofcourse, eat first comes before
anything.::Where is the world traveler Billy Connelly? We are soon to RV
it again. My pet project, Franko, is well again, thank God,like to see
him back to normal. The weather is beautiful at this time of year, so
we're headed out traveling Fl up to Little Manatee Lake, not far. It's a
test run to see how he manages the rig. I'm sure he'll do fine. But
there was a day when he couldn't get up the 3 steps to get in. Life is
good! |

| Jacque, I notice that you keep
your joints warm by wearing silk underwear. I tried this once when I was
in the Army. You wouldn't believe the problems it caused me. |

| David, may I compliment you on
your fine work. Finally you have passed on some very vital information
for the country. How refreshing it is to rest assured that we are under
the umbrella of the Monarchy. Yes, God save the Queen and all her
jewelry. |

| Wayne & Jacque...When Arthur
Itis moves in you just better go ahead and invite his two cousins, Ben
Gay and Jack Daniels to move in with him! [grin] Jacque, I also wear my
silk ski tops under sweaters during cold spells. Like you I like to work
with my hands......so will do whatever it takes to to keep moving.
David....thanks for the Queen Elizabeth update. Glad to know that all is
well...and the Queen is ready to take over in November.[smile] I really
enjoyed the last update from the INDIGO MOON. What a grand adventure!
Greetings to all.~~~~~Betty |

| Easter Greetings to all of you.
I've been calling all the people I love to wish them a Happy Easter. I
would love to call each and everyone of you but then I wouldn't have
time for Mass in the morning or to fix the dinner for the 13 other
people that are coming tomorrow. So, this will have to do, remember each
and everyone of you are special to me. |

| Thank you Jacque and the feeling
is returned, as well to all. It's rainy and overcast today but we need
it. The grass is so green and the spring plants are starting to blossom
ie. Gardenias,Hibiscus, etc. A lovely place to be and tomorrow we take
off to Lake Manatee north of us for a short trip and change of scenery
now that Frank is well. May you all enjoy the blessings of this Easter
Holiday season. Ellie & Frank. |

| Pretty fancy work Mr. D.H.
Gilbert. I do think you need to give yourself a title and state
something else like "Directed" or "Produced" or
"Edited by" D.H.Gilbert! Just "By" isn't enough.
I've noticed you handiwork on a few others too. |

| Question? Need the words to the
Corcoran Fight Song? The music is from the Notre Dame Fight Song. The
class of 1958 think the words are: FIGHT, FIGHT FOR OLD CORCORAN HIGH;
WE'LL WIN IF YOU WILL GET IN AND TRY; GIVE YOUR STRENGTH AND GIVE YOUR
SOUL; WE WON'T GIVE UP 'TIL YOU REACH THE GOAL; AND IN THE END, WHEN
CORCORAN HAS WON; WE WE'LL BE PROUD FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE; CHEERS WILL
SEND UP TO THE SKY; ITS VICTORY FOR CORCORAN HIGH. Do you agree? Also,
when did you first hear this song. |

| Dave, the lyrics weren't written
on the band music that I played and I couldn't hear the students sing
when I had the helmut on so I say these words sound good to me. I plan
to see Leatherheads with Clooney this weekend and see if the movie is
true to the time I played. We did wear leather helmets when I was a
sophomore and they were sooo heavy. High top shoes and leather
helmets...the tough good old days. and no face masks. wc |

| You won't believe this, but I
think I may be confused on the school song. I don't think Marsee would
touch a Notre Dame fight song. Seems like the music was a song that the
name sounds like Zanta Zanta Zanta?? and the words were CORCORAN
PANTHERS WIN THIS BALL GAME; FIGHT AND FIGHT AND ALL YOU ALL WILL SEE A
VICTORY or something like that. Wayne, I guess the leather helmet was
better than no helmet. |

BarbaraG (Ventura) |
|
| That sounds better, except the
spelling isn't right (but I can't do much better. Seems like it started
with Tzana....) You're right, Marsee wouldn't touch a Notre Dame song.
Don't have any old song sheets after 50 years, but will look through the
yearbooks. Maybe something will pop up. |

| Some old brain cells are firing
up. The song was called Minnesota Rouser and the words were like?
Corcoran Panthers win this ball game fight and fight and fight and you
will seee a victory. Drive that ball right down the field...score a
touchdown and then go for more. Can anyone help out here and finish
this? We also had words to On Wisconsin..but it was On you Panthers,,On
you Panthers, march right down that field..score a touchdown and then go
for more...I think Bunny Marsee sat up nights making up words to all the
songs that the band played.. which was our school song??? Cells are
getting weaker and weaker..bye wc |

| Thank you Wayne, I was affraid to
say anything but I only remember the On you Panthers to the University
of Wisconsin song.....only because my father's would get the biggest
kick out of it..he was a graduate of the UW.....class of 24. He loved it
when the Band would practice marching down the street before school and
play the song. |

| We are coming up on six months to
the Pismo reunion. Talked to Shirley yesterday and she has a list of who
has paid for the meals, but is not sure about the room reservations.
Anyway I've taken what knowledge I have and made a list of who's coming.
Go to the Pismo reunion page and there is a link to the who page. If you
have more input, let me know. Remember we only have a block of 20
rooms so.. don't drag your feet. You all |

| Dave, I have a room confirmation
number so I will recheck with the hotel. The Swan Lake video is really
amazing to watch. I never saw anything like that when I went to China
but maybe I was in the wrong city. I am going to Central America this
June so I will probable learn how to do the quick step out of necessity.

| Today I took the day off. I went
down by the levee. That sounds good. Someone should write a song. I went
down by the levee to see the river running high. Wayne and Bill if you
remember the stairs you climbed up to Mississippi Queen dock; today
there were no stairs. I then decided to go to a place I first heard
about when we moved to Natchez in 1975 and have wanted to go there ever
since. The Old River Structure. To sum it up in engineering terms: It's
a whole bunch of water running through there. The Red River used to run
into the Mississippi there, now the Red and 30% of the Mississippi form
the Atchafalaya for a run to the Gulf. Problem is all of the big old
Mississippi want to run with them. And most experts think it will at
first chance. Today I watched the survey crews run levels and engineers
looking for cracks in one of the overflow structures. |

| OK David we need to know the crazy
engineers' names of the roads. The hairpin or switchback road reminds me
of the 198 from Three Rivers on up to Giant Forest. All these roads must
have been thought of by someone wide awake in the middle of the night
thinking of what road to build next. By the way the photos on if it fits
wear it anyway did not appear on my screen! You know it CAN'T be me (the
computer must have malfunctioned). Speaking of the 198 going to the
National Parks is being brought up to date -- all the retainer walls and
scenic areas as well as the road is really nice! As a Board Member of
the Sequoia Natural History Association come and visit the Sequoia and
Kings Canyon National Parks. Also visit our website at
www.sequoiahistory.org to view all the beautiful wonders and outdoors of
nature plus learn about how we help the parks. Wayne we have lots of
trails for your hiking club to enjoy! |

| Hey David . . . (a slight
correction of forgetting to add all the words) and how many times have
we sat down with our kids and grandkids to tell them about the good old
days of growing up in Corcoran! |

| Jim, I really forgot to up-load
the pictures of the cat and forgot to check it after I did. I Assumed I
knew what I was doing. Since I'm working on the garage in the morning, I
didn't see your note until the next afternoon. I've met a number of
Engineers that need their pencils taken away from them. My kids lived in
Corcoran and are thankful I went to college and moved. They would never
move back. They all think I'm going to move back because of all the
memories I have. Maybe I will and maybe I won't. The grandkids.... It's
all so boring to them. Read "SURVIVORS". They belong to the
"Y" generation. |
