Dave, thanks for putting the New Year video on the site. What great photography. The message is well said. All classmates will enjoy seeing it. LSU is a great team but the Boise State win over Oklahoma has to be one of college footballs greatest moments. It was so much fun to watch that game. Snow is coming down now but the wind is down so it is very peaceful outside. I have decided to relocate my life to northern California this year. I will sell the desert house and find a place up near the Sacramento area where my kids and grandkids are living. When Pat and I moved to the desert we had Mike and Kevin in San Diego and her two sisters in Long Beach. In 6 months the boys moved to the east coast. So without Pat I have no need to be in the desert but close to the family. I wish all my good friends a great 2007. A lot of you have been just reading these notes so why not write something for all of us to comment about. Stay warm and well.wc

Happy New Year to everyone.::Yes, we certainly did enjoy that Boise & Oklahoma game. That game will be hard to top. Just when you thought it was over, it was not over.::Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to 2007 with great expectations.::As you know Bobby & Shirley and Tommy & Shirley Dunehew are planning our next reunion. If you have any ideas or suggestion, let them know. As Bobby told me, we will take all your suggestions and then do what we want. It will be planned for 2008.::David, thanks for all the info and pictures on our website. You do a great job.::::Betty G

There has been some talk about how we spend the "dues" money. Talking with Vera, Wayne, Betty, Bill and others it has been decided to eliminate the dues. Now the question is: What do we do with the money we have? Some proposals have been: 1) Donate it all to the high school. 2) Spend it on the next reunion to lower the cost. 3) ?? What we need is suggestions from all you all on how to spend it. While this is being decided DO NOT SEND IN YOUR DUES anymore.

Jan 11, 2007 at 12:20:17 Betty G (Visalia)
Good Morning,::Another cold, crisp, beautiful day in Visalia. Possibility of some snow down very low.::My suggestion for the money we have in our class fund be spent on our next class reunion. The fund was set up for that purpose. I know it is very difficult to try to keep track of dues and bank accounts. ::At our age we need to keep things very simple. Please do not ask us to remember if we paid our dues this year and how much are they.::I may not even be around for our next reunion and I would be real mad if you guys were having a real good time on my dime.::Keep it simple and pay as we go;;::::Thanks::Betty G::::

Jan 11, 2007 at 17:19:44 Ellie (Florida)
How much are we talking here? If it's just a carot or 2 fogetaboudit. If you want my opinion, I say you should do whatever with it cause whatever you do would be great wit me. So do it!

Jan 11, 2007 at 18:23:27 JimG (Tulare)
Maybe we should have our next getogether at Santa Anita and put it on our hot tip from one of our classmates that knows the ponies!!!!!!!!! Or the Lottery and when we win we can all be millionaires like the old folks in Florida at that mobile home park that just sold each trailer for a million dollars . . . Most we very old single wides! Going to put high dollar condos in place of trailers.::

Jan 11, 2007 at 18:27:01 JimGt (Tulare)
Ellie . . . what is the name of the town that the trailers sold for a mil . . . Also how did they stand up to the hurricanes right on the beach?::::

Jan 11, 2007 at 18:30:49 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Ellie do you mean "a carrot or two" or "a carat or two"? Actually we are talking about money as in USA green backs that has a value of about 1 x 10³ dollars setting in a saving account in some bank somewhere. Since you don't care, I think we should give it to Arlene Gonsalves and have her invest it for us in Las Vegas. NOT! Seriously, the money should be sent to the Bobby, Shirley, Shirley and Tommy Dunehews and used just as Betty has said. That's where it will go unless their is a ground swell from all you all for something different or the house democrats need the money to meet their agenda. I also think the Dunehews should consider Las Vegas as a reunion location. There really isn't a cheaper place in the world for food, rooms, and transportation in and out of there. Plus what happens there stays there. Right

Remember the great 20th in San Francisco. All the good food and the booze in the hospitality room with all the great looking women hanging on the arms of real studly men! Well we still have the women and with the $1000 we can buy the food and booze again. Momories of the studly men is all we have .".memories of the way we used to be" Could still be a hell of a party.

Jan 12, 2007 at 09:46:16 Ellie (Fla.)
David, yes I mean't carat. So I goofed. And Jim I don't know what town it was cause I only live here. But it's probably for real and beach property is pricey and just for the heck of it I'll find out. And furthermore, to Studly, I'm for that plan. We could make it really hospitable in that Hospitality Room. And count me in for Las Vegas!! Frank has never been there. I would love to see him, this lovely quiet non-gambling man, in the action. What a hoot!

The town of Briny Breezes is the name of the trailer park in South Florida . . . Just waiting for a developer to try Pismo Beach.::

Well, after a long time, here goes again. Lots of Spring time weather here in IN/OH, until this week, it's in the 20's and low 30's now, so I guess it is ok for me to write something. We had to cancel our trip to Croatia this month, we were not sure what was happening with our customers. We had a plant shutdown for new equiptment and we were busy with temp workers installing the new equipment in the Owens-Corning plant here in Brookville. they were here about two months and weren't sure when they were going to finish. They are gone now and we are scheduled to leave for Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar next month. I'm not sure about Myanmar(Burma) and their political situation, but I guess we can go for a few days. We'll let you know what its like when and if we get back. Other that lots of sheets and towels, we haven't been doing much, but laundry since the end of October. We'll write some more when we get back for SE Asia.

Billy C I just did 3 weeks in Thailand ,Cambodia, and 1 day in Myrnmar. I wish I had skipped the optioanl tour to that place. The oppression in the faces of the starving people still haunt me. The govt collects the visa fee and you walk away not feeling well. The other places I really enjoyed. Not enough time to go to Vietnam but I heard good things about that trip. It is still cold up here but not enough snow to ski safely. I guess if I were good enough to not worry about falling I wouldn't mind the rocks and bushes sticking up through the surface. I will be patient and the storms will come this way.wc

Jan 21, 2007 at 18:46:16 JimG (Tulare)
Speaking of foreign countries . . . Our daughter Jeanette is hosting a Korean girl for 6 weeks as of now. When I first met her she shook my hand and bowed. I wasn't sure what I was suppose to do so she explained as old as I am the bowing was not necessary on my part. By the way Wayne she is 12 and went sking 2 weekends ago and made many runs down the face at Sierra Summit. Oh my to be youthful again!::

Jan 23, 2007 at 11:57:58 Henry Spencer (Nokesville, Va)
After reading all the comments from ya'll, I thought of a comment from the peanut gallery.::Since -at least from my perspective- most of the old group had a very significant attachment to the CUHS sports department and it probably did make quite an impression on most of the group's lives - How about a small donation to the sports department to supply maybe a pair of track shoes or some item that a needy but unable could benefit from as chosen by a discerning coach. "Just a thought, not a sermon". ::The total amount need not be offered and infact it could be renewed (by a very small "dues".::How about that to ruffle a few feathers?::::HS

Jan 23, 2007 at 15:25:22 Jacque (SLO)
Henry, That is a GREAT idea. I think that is a personal touch rather than a bench or a new coat of paint. It might even be something that we could establish and replenish as needed. Thanks for thinking of it. I vote yes.

Jan 24, 2007 at 12:28:40 Barbara (Ventura)
That really IS a great, Hank. I'm for it, too.

Jan 24, 2007 at 14:25:01 Ellie (Ft. Myers, Fl.)
Oh allright! I'll forfit the hospitable hospitality suite but I still vote for Las Vegas! Henry, you're such a good person.

Jan 24, 2007 at 17:38:28 Hanak Spencer (Nokesville)
Now don't get me wrong. That was just an idea not a total give away. After all a hundred is not a carat! I do believe in having your cake and eating it also when possible. HS

Jan 25, 2007 at 18:26:40 Dave (Baton Rouge)
During summer of 1957 the engineering battalion I was in Japan moved from the island of Kyushu to Tokyo. Once I had RO settle into an apartment near Camp Drake. I was off for an three month duty to the island of Iwo Jima. The other day I found a box a pictures I had taken there. I did three typhoons on the island, one twice. During one typhoon they couldn't get a C-124 off the island. So.. the pilot flew it on the runway. I heard that a few times he was rolling backwards. Once we heard a helicopter and discovered an aircraft carrier was just coming over the horizon. The Captain had flown over to look around. Turned out to be the Coral Sea in a hurry to go somewhere because it wasn't very long before it had disappeared 180 degrees from where we first saw it. Another big day was when a soviet submarine surfaced just off shore from our camp. By the time they got our one F-86 in the air, it was gone. If you are interested in life out in the middle of nowhere take a look.Iwo Jima

Dave,::Those are real neat pictures, but "No Thanks, I don't think that is a place I would like to visit. Sure glad you came home from there safely. Love, Patty

Jan 25, 2007 at 21:33:44 Hank Spencer (Nokesville)
Dave: Great pictures. They would fit in really nicely with the brand new Marine Corp museum that just opened in Quantico. Best part besides a fabulous presentation- it was all free....

Jan 28, 2007 at 18:59:52 David (Baton Rouge)
Let see what's going on... Nothing... Must be Sunday. I vote that we take all the dues we have paid in and give it to the Dunehews so we can party with it. I think it would be great to give something to the school. We could pass the hat at the reunion, stick it in a brown paper bag, address it to the school, and appoint 25 people to hand carry it there. I'm not in favor of dues. Sounds like taxes, but if that's what you want to do; as a minimum, there should be a written procedure saying how, when and for what the moneys is to be spent; plus more that a dozen people responsible. Did you ever notice you don't get Spam ( the mail, not the food ) on Sunday. Do you think the people that send out all that spam crud go to church? Hank good to see you didn't use that Hanak handle again. I was thinking maybe you were Jewish.

Jan 29, 2007 at 08:49:06 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, HANK, YOUR SUGGESTION STIMULATED MY THINKING. WOULD IT BE GOOD FOR OUR CLASS TO ESTABLISH AN ENDOWMENT TO LEAVE FOR THE SCHOOL? I'M NOT THINKING JUST ATHELETICS, BUT ANY NEEDY STUDENT, COULD BE BAND, ACADEMICS, ETC., ANYONE THAT HAD A NEED. THE FIGURE COMES TO MIND $10,000 THAT COULD SPIN OFF MAYBE $1000 ANUALLY FOR THAT PURPOSE. I DON'T KNOW OF ANY OTHER CLASS THAT HAS DONE ANYTHING OF THAT SORT. IT WOULD BE A WAY FOR US TO GIVE BACK FOR ALL OUR BLESSINGS. JUST A THOUGHT. LOVE BRAD

Jan 29, 2007 at 09:01:28 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING AGAIN. I WOKE UP THIS MORNING THINKING HOW BLESSED WE ARE. IF YOU GO TO BED EACH NIGHT WITH ALL YOU WANTED TO EAT, AND SLEEP IN A WARM DRY BED EACH NIGHT, YOU ARE BETTER OFF THAN 80% OF THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. HOW CAN WE NOT RECOGNIZE GOD'S LOVE. HOW CAN WE NOT BE THANKFUL. LIFE IS SO AWESOME OUR GOD IS SOOOOOO GOOD. WE ALL WERE PUT TOGETHER FOR A PURPOSE. WE HAVE HOPE AND IT IS MY HOPE THAT I CAN BE AN ENCOURAGEMENT TO ALL OF YOU. MY PRAYERS AND LOVE ARE WITH YOU. MAY THIS DAY BE YOUR MOST EXCITING ONE EVER. BRAD

Jan 29, 2007 at 13:41:40 Jacque (SLO)
Brad, your idea is something that a club ie. Lions or Rotary could handle but no loosely organized, retired group of people like the class of 56. I don't think any of us want to be responsible for managing a fund for the next 10 or 15 years. First of all....where are you going to get the $10k? Then where are you going to find an investment that will yield 10% each year? If you know of one please let us all know...we will be in line to invest out own money. If there is class money we should probably use it for the next reunion. Prior to the next get together someone could check to see if we could help a student or class in a SMALL way. That could be presented to the group and a hat could be passed around to collect donations. That donation could then be presented to the school/student as a "gift" from the class of 56. Hank suggestion was to help in some small way, that's what I liked. Hanak....I like that too! you are a special person.

Jan 29, 2007 at 13:47:04 Jacque (SLO)
I forgot to edit my writing. Forgive all the "COULD", "COULD","COULD"s My grandaughter has me doing it now..... that is her new "favorite" word.

Jan 29, 2007 at 16:53:26 Hank-NOT HANAK (Nokesville)
Brad: I'm glad my simple comment gave rise to such grandeous thoughts. However, I'm also in agreement with Jacque and Dave. A little something should be sufficient to indicate to the school that some of the older alumni still think of them. Just how you could justify taking all the dough that was earmarked for the reunions and paid in by persons now missing would be a tough sell to use it for something else. David had the right idea-use the little brown bag and pass the hat, but keep the "dues" attached to what they were given for. Do I hear an A-men?::Love Ya'll. Hank

Monday afternoon,::Just got phone call from Tommy Dunehew to let us know Bobby Griffith passed away this afternoon. I really have no details at this time.::Just pray for the family.::I'm so glad he was able to finally make it to our last class reunion. He really enjoyed it.::::Betty G

Jan 30, 2007 at 08:58:14 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Brad.. your ideal has some good merit. I have a plan that will get us all the money we need. It requires a very small investment, a book of matches, an old coffee mug plus the willingness to put a little effort into it. I have a video tape of the plan on the guestbook page. No smoke and mirrors here! Maybe a little smoke. Julie your timing is great. See you soon Jacque.

Jan 30, 2007 at 13:33:48 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING ALL, I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS A WORLD CLASS FINANCIAL PLANNER. HE SAID A FOUNDATION COULD BE PLACED INTO A TRUST WITH SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR A SCHOLARSHIP THAT COULD SPIN OFF $2000.00 OR MORE EACH YEAR, PERPETUALLY. SINCE THE HOST TRUST IS FOR BENEVELANT PURPOSES, MORE COULD BE ADDED. IF 50 PEOPLE PATICIPATED, AND CONTRIBUTED $200.00 EACH, THAT WOULD MAKE $10,000.00. THE MECHANICS FOR IT WOULD BE SIMPLE AND AT NO COST FOR THE FOUNDATION. ALSO, WE GET %10 ON $100K FOR 2YR COMMITMENTS. BRAD ::

Jan 30, 2007 at 17:41:14 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . I just rolled up a $10.00 bill and set on fire, slammed the cup down and just new I was going to have a nice crisp $1000 bill . . . And to my great surprise I had a cup full of ashes! Oh well!::

Jan 30, 2007 at 19:20:48 Dave (BR, LA)
Jim, You have to use a $1 bill and then it's all in the timing. You need to snuff out the fire at the exact prefect instant.

This has been the worst month of my life!!! Today all of the data disappeared from the forum page. This is the only page that I have no control over. Maybe that's the problem. I need to write my own program and keep it under my control. All those beautiful words about my Rosemary are gone. I feel like we have been robbed.

May 24, 2007 at 15:21:55 David (Baton Rouge)
Slow Down, Slow Down, This is all just water under the bridge. Time to say goodby to all the data of the last four months and continual with a few procedure changes. When you play with a computer you should expect to be burned now and then. RO never allowed a gun in the house. Yesterday I would have blown some holes in this stupid thing I'm looking at. Love, Peace, Tomorrow will be better. If any of you can re-enter some item, Please do so. Love Dave

My best memories of Corcoran 1948 to 1964: * I remember in detail the first time I saw her in Ms. Korsmo's fourth grade class 1948. * I remember my feelings when told the same year she was moving next door to me. * I remember wanting her to like me, but when I got close to her, I::would say the wrong thing. * I remember playing spin the bottle at a birthday party. I got to kiss her, but she wiped her mouth a spit at the experience. * I remember seeing her in the theater one day there in 1952, flopped down in my '50's style, next to her and took her hand. No scream, slap or nothing. I sat there unable to think or talk. * I remember during the next year we had dates that included, movies, drive-in movies and dances. * I remember when we decided to go steady there on 10-12-54. * I remember when we got married there on 8-12-56. * I remember::when our youngest boy was born there 12-26-60. * I remember when our daughter was born there 11-19-64. * To answer a question I was asked the other day. Yes, we still hold hands after fifty-four years! * Dave ( This was written five years ago )

At least I didn't have any thing unforgettable written down, though I have enjoyed reading all of it. There will be new enjoyable stuff writen to take its place. Thanks Dave for all the unforgetable stuff you have given us.

What's a few months? We shall rebuild. The memories are still there; no one can erase them! David, go forward with the job at hand. Don't forget to keep us up to date on your travels. Did you ever get a camera for the laptop you're going to buy? I'm nagging now. It's the greatest! And don't forget the aircard. You'll have total portability. I thank YOU for visiting our abode. It was a joy to have you and if you decide on that condo rest assured this private man will have a lot of company. Fl. is a great spot for you! We love ;you!!!!!

Good Morning,::Hope everyone is doing well. Sounds like everyone is envolved in computers. All this new technology is very overwhelming for me. I'v been working to get a new cell phone up and going. New tech is great as long as it works the way it was meant to, that seldom happens.::We will be having a get together in Visalia, El Roals Rest., June 12. Just give us a call, everyone is welcome.::David, don't worry about the lost words. Memories are still there. This is a new day, we will go from here. ::::See ya,::Betty G

May 29, 2007 at 23:33:00 Jacque (repeat) (San Luis Obispo)
David I am doing this because I understand that you need this at this time, so I dug this out of the "to File" pile just for you. Remember friend, Rosemary would want you to live life to the fullest. here goes.....::David, even though I was well aware of what was coming, I am deeply stunned and saddened by Rosemary's passing. I am so thankful that I was able to spend time with Rosemary in February. My only regret is that I wished I had done it sooner & more often. Rosemary is one of a kind, admired by all and loved by many. She was fearless, adventureous, lived life to the fullest & knew exactly what she wanted. By the 7th grade I knew that I would never beat her at any type of card game, she was always at least 2 moves ahead of everyone else. She was fun to be with and was always ready to try something new (atleast once). I will cherish my memories of Rosemary and continue to think of her often for the rest of my life. Take care David, we love you. Jacque::::Classmates, take a look at the picture of Rosemary with her father on the page David set up. She knew exactly what she wanted. Then look at the wedding photo...Have you ever seen two more happy people?::

May 30, 2007 at 11:26:42 David (Baton Rouge)
Thank You Jacqueline for putting that on again. At the memorial service we held for Rosemary, I told the family I wanted to speak. (They all bet I couldn't get up and do it. They all lost.) I decided to give a brief history of our life together and read some of the words you wrote about her. I printed out the items from our forum and marked them up as a guide. I believed I tossed them after the services, but last night I found them. I'm going to place them back into the forum one at a time. I will start with what I said about our life together.

May 30, 2007 at 11:27:47 David (Baton Rouge)
Rosemary and I first met in the 4th grade. I was 11 and she was 10. I decided she would be my girl friend. Later that year she moved into the house next door. I was always unable to talk around her. At a birthday party we played spine the bottle and after three tries and yelling overs it landed in front of her and I got to kiss her. My first kiss. When I was 14 I saw her at the theater, sat down next to her and took her hand. I waited for her to start screaming, but she didn't. During the next year we went on many dates and the following year we decided to go steady. We married when we were 18. Our son David was born in Tokyo, Our son Dennis and daughter Melissa were born in our home town of Corcoran.

Dear David, Such a sad story. Last year at the reunion many of us shared our 50th anniversary. We discussed this at our reunion last year, how many years you had shared, how many miles you had traveled and how many memories you had made. We share your pain. She was always a lady.

May 30, 2007 at 11:37:57 Brad (4/24/07)
David & Family, Our hearts go out to you. I do not have the words to express the love and comfort and prayers I want to share with you. Today, she has a host of angles ministering to her in the presence of God. Now she has perfect peace. There is no sorrow in heaven, With God's blessings, Love Brad

Dave, I know to well the pain you are feeling, the loss you share with your family, the tears fall to hard to say too much at this time. True love becomes the memories that will sustain you forever. Trust in them to keep you going.

May 30, 2007 at 11:40:42 Jim & Arlene (4/25/07)
David & Family, Arlene and I read the sad news this morning and with tears in our eyes feel blessed to have known such a great person as rosemary. She was a wonderful wife, mother and a great friend to us and many others. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! We both agree that it couldn't have been said any better "What a Great Love Story."

May 30, 2007 at 11:41:48 Bob Lantz (4/25/07)
I am truly saddened by David's loss and can only rely on faith to come to terms with Rosemary's passage to a better place. David's brother (George) is my brother-in-law, so I have been blessed to hear about David and Rosemary's 50 years of living and adventures on a regular basis. And although I have only been able to meet up with them once in those 50 years, I will miss her presence. David, please take care of yourself. My prayers are with you in this difficult time.

May 30, 2007 at 11:42:54 Bill & Robyn (4/26/07)
David, Robyn and I were saddened to hear of Rosemary's passing, and we want you to know our thoughts and prayers are with and your family at this time. She was truly loved by her classmates.

Hi Friends, I have returned from some short trips for fun and family events. Now to get ready for the summer fun. Most of my time I will be up at Donner Lake which is now only 90 minutes away. On June 24 the Borer and Crow families will dedicate a footbridge on the Rim Trail in Pat's memory. We will have about 30 in the party. It will be a party not another funeral. I will send Dave a picture for posting later. Glad to see Dave was good for a rescue of past memories. I know we all have those memories locked away but somedays the key is locked away also and reading the site is the only way to get to them. In July, I am going solo on a river trip in Europe to complete the travel plans Pat and I made. Then, I am going to seek some more places to walk and see. My feet are about to give out on me so I need to keep going while I can. Any news about the 2008 event? Will it be summer or fall? Stay well everyone.wc

Looks like the monkeys got one of their stupid comment in our forum. Thankfully they don't know how to write in HTML. This will be deleted soon.

I spent the last couple of days in Maricopa and today I drove up to Corcoran. Right now I'm in "Corcoran" trailer park in Tulare. Tomorrow I'll head to Visalia and dinner with my old friends. Old as in "They have been my friends for a long time" and they are kind of old.

Had dinner with some classmates in Visalia last night. Looks like next years reunion will be in Pismo around the 1st of November

Hello Everyone, David stopped by and spent the day today. It was good seeing him again. I was taking care of Cassidy so we were stuck at the house for the day. DAVID if you read this before you leave, YOU LEFT YOUR HAT HERE! We are having a spell of hot weather, although I doubt if it is as hot as the valley, it was in the low 90's here. It's good to be back in California no matter what the temperature jt

HELLO CLASSMATES, SOME TRIVIA. JUST HEARD A NEW TRICK. YOU CAN USE YOUR REMOTE KEE FOR YOUR CAR AS AN ALARM IF YOU HEAR SOMETHING OUTSIDE THAT DOES NOT SOUND OR FEEL JUST RIGHT. KEEP IT ON YOUR NIGHT STAND AT NIGHT AND SET OFF YOUR HORN IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY OR ALARM. LOVE TO ALL, BRAD

David where are you . . . Sorry we missed you as we were at the coast with Kids & Grandkids. If you are still in the area give me a call. Betty, sorry about not getting back home for the dinner but the coast was 60 degrees and Tulare was 105. Just couldn't get myself to leave that cool weather. Also Jacque our grandaughter's name is Kassidy.::

I made it home and its always good to come home. I came home with a picture of the students of Corcoran Elementary School taken during the 1940's. My sister Carolyn gave/loaned it to us. You can see it by going to Photos/Classes/Pictures. After 50 years the High School decided to give me a Diploma, but the name on it was Gilbert Henry David... so they will possibly mail it to me. But I did get a Corcoran High coffee mug and pencil! I want to thank all the classmates I saw, especially Sid and Betty, for the friendship and memories.

Jun 20, 2007 at 17:38:13 Barbara G (Ventura)
The pictures are great. I'll try a guess on some (using the smaller photos). Picture 1 - Row 2 Bill Squire? #2 from left, Carol Freeman? #4 from left; Photo 2 - Row 2, end Shirley Gibson?; Photo 3 - Row 2 on the end (again, Shirley), Row 4, #3 - Larry or Dickie LeBlanc?; Photo 5 - Don Gilkey, end of row 4; he is also in photo 6, 2nd from left, row 4. These photos overlap. I'm probably wrong, but thought I'd give it a try.::::David, hope you had a good time in California.

Jun 21, 2007 at 23:42:48 Jacqueline
David, give us a hint on the picture, where is your sister and older brother? The boy in the second row, left side, looks familiar but I haven't a clue. Someone use to wear his pants rolled up like that..but I think he was older than we were....maybe this was taken when we were in kindergarten..?

Jun 23, 2007 at 13:59:52 Dave (Baton Rouge)
In picture #3 on the right side and picture #4 on the left side is a blond with a ribbon in her hair. Look sort of like the girl in our class named Jacqueline something. Don't remember her last name. Also in the front row of picture #4 I think I see Roy Beach, Derek Ray, skip one, Jim ?, skip one and the guy who changed his name to Nat. The guy in the picture #1 with his pants rolled up waiting for a flood standing next to Bill Squires looks like Manual Zepeda. Tube Clark is in the front row of this same image. Leonard Thigpin is in the back row. Maggie Kepke is in picture #2 3d row. I don't remember the occasion. I was probably in the principles office. We were not represented very, will what ever it was. My sister said she sang at it. I don't see her or my brother. The image I have measures 6 5/8 x 2 5/8 inches. I was happy to be able to expand it as much as I did.

Jun 24, 2007 at 09:56:38 JimG (Tulare)
Glad to see David made it home safely . . . Photos were interesting to try to recognize class mates. I did notice that the guys were wearing a lot of striped shirts. Dave if this doubles up at least you are there to fix it!

Jun 24, 2007 at 13:40:14 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Wow !!! It's a miracle, a real miracle Jim. I don't know how you did it. Did Arlene help you?

Today I got something in the mail that some of you haven't received in Fifty years. Click on my train on the members list.

Some really interesting pictures. How is the group doing? David, We were really sad to see the anguish that you had to endure. And glad you did survive it. Sounds like you've been around and about now for a while. Good to see you're doing it. Saw the pictures and I thought I saw 2 different Gilberts in there. 1st picture front row, 6th from the left looks like Gilbert eyes to me (George)? 6th picture top row, 2nd from left -Donny Gilkey and 3rd from the left Buddy Nichols. Finally he 7th picture the 2nd row and 4th from the left (another Gilbert?) Just guessing I believe. Sounds like the whole group is rather active this summer and that's great. Best wishes to Yall. Hank

Jun 26, 2007 at 13:41:07 David (BR, LA.)
Henry, I don't see any Gilberts in the pictures. I learned the meaning of snake eyes in the army, but Gilbert, not sure?? I don't think George has ever been in the front row in his life. He was 5' 10" in Kindergarten. Also, I talked to Shirley and Tommy Dunehew yesterday and the reunion for next year "MAYBE" at the Spyglass Inn in Pismo during the week Mon,Tues, Wens or Tues, Wens, Thurs a little past mid Sept. 2008. They can get winter rates during the week. Plus they have a special reason for having it on the 19th. See all You all then if not before.

Jun 28, 2007 at 14:03:44 David (BR, LA.)
Hi, I talked to my sister Carolyn last night about the picture she had. She knew a lot of the students and I can say I wasn't sure if any were from our class. The ones she knew were in the class of '53, '54 and '55. She said she must have been in the 5th grade. Say the picture is 1947 of the 4th, 5th & 6th grades. Carolyn is in the second picture, last row 3d from the right side. Dorothy Spencer is in the last row to the left of Carolyn.

Ah Yes! We are back in Ft. Lauderdale for 3 days on our way to Key Largo and other points for the next month. Gypsies! David, tell me, how do I e-mail that cat playing piano to Cindy? Also I would like to chat with anyone who has had experience with Direct TV. I've never been through so much C*** in my life. Aside from that everything is beautiful!!

My computer decided to take a 3 week vacation by not letting me connect to the internet and then just suddenly started up again. No!! not because I did not pay the bill it just is stubborn that way. Well, I am sitting up here in the Sierras where life is good as long as the fires stay away. I am going off to Yosemite for some hiking next week and then to Europe on the River cruise from Amsterdam to Vienna. It is crazy to leave here and travel during the best time of the year but I do crazy things. Good to know we will return to Pismo for our next gathering. That is a fun place and the Fall is great weather usually. Am I right Jim, Jacque, and others who stay there? I had 35 members of family here on June 23-24 to dedicate the footbridge to Pat. It is located on the Donner Rim Trail about 2 miles up from Hw. 80. The footbridge is about 40' long and the bronze placque is set into a granite rock. It is very nice and is a permanent marker for her. Someday I want my name on a rock up there with her. I do hope all of my classmates and good friends are staying healthy and enjoying life with family and friends. Go for a walk today, talk with loved ones, tell someone that you love them and it will be returned to you.wc

Jul 1, 2007 at 15:12:14 JimG (Tulare)
David Henry I just saw the Diploma that was lost for 50 years somewhere . . . Wayne the weather is good there most of the time, no snow to shovel. Also we just returned from a trip with our kids and grandkids to Disneyland (3 days), Universal Studios (1) day, Sea World and SD Zoo (2) days. I did find out that you don't need to go inside of the zoo because all the monkeys are loose on the Freeway Zoo down south!!! Pismo sounds great again. Tom/Sid I am going to buy Arlene a rubber driver to practice on the driving range. I can still see you guys rolling on the ground after she hit that damnable metal club holder.::

HELLO ALL, LOOKING THROUGH THE CLASS PHOTOS. I NOTICED ON 1949 5TH GRADE, MR WILSON, TO THE RIGHT OF SID IS JIMMY DOLLINS. I HAD BEEN WONDERING WHERE HE IS. I DO NOT BELIEVE HE IS ON OUR CLASS LISTS. WAS HE RELATED TO ANY OF OUR CLASSMATES? ANYWAY, ONE OF THE QUESTION MARKS CAN BE EXCHANGED FOR A NAME. BRAD

Well, If it's Wednesday, this must be Key Largo. We're Here in John Pennekamp State Park for 2 weeks. They have a coral reef for diving and beaches, boating, etc. From here we go farther south for the rest of the month. Key West!! Very restful and quiet. Of course, except for the fireworks outside!

Jul 8, 2007 at 19:40:19 David (Baton Rouge)
Lets see....What have I been doing. One thing I've been torturing myself by walking and riding the bike. One ride and one walk per day. Been using the treadmill on these hot humid days. It was 80 at 6 AM today and the windows were all fogged up. I've cleared a path for the driveway to the garage I'm building for my boat. And I've purchased a video camera for the computer to use with Skype. I guess I'll have to get dressed now while at the computer. Going to visit RO's sister Barbara and set her up with a video Skype so she can keep in touch with her family in California. Probably after the first of August. In October I have plans to go to Pennsylvania, New York City and Washington DC. Train hunting in Pennsylvania and to watch a grandson and daughter in law run a marathon in DC. Have no ideal why I'm going to NYC. Going with our oldest boy and maybe a friend.

Jul 9, 2007 at 12:09:29 ellie (Key Largo Fl.)
David! You sound good. Busy. You don't need a reason to do anything. Just do it!!! Penn. is Frank's home state. Let us know how you do there. I need to know something. I really need to know a lot of things, but for the moment, I'll ask this. I want to IM people. I gather this allows me to interfere with their life while they are on line. Since I'm Aim.com and Verizon network, I just don't understand what I need to complete the mission. Would you please take a minute and tell me the secret? Thank you.

Jul 9, 2007 at 17:15:13 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hi Ellie, I've wanted to do a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but I never wanted to IM anyone. I guess you must be talking about Windows Live Messenger. this is a program like Skype except all money paid in is given to charity. Go to: http://www.im.live.com/Messenger/IM/Home/ for ::more information. I think !!!

Today I'm in San Antonino, Texas. It's an eight and a half hour drive from Baton Rouge. First time I've been here since around '89. Downtown area along the riverwalk is great and looks like a lot of cities in Europe. Nice vacation area. This afternoon I will go for the Bar-B-Q beef ribs. The reason for the trip is a grandson's girlfriend graduated from Airforce bootcamp. She goes from here to Florida for more training. His dad figured since I had nothing to do, I could go along! Hope all you all are fine. The 24th I go to see RO's sister for a week.

Here we are in Bahia Honda State Park, 30 Mi. from my next lobster. Key West!!! We will spend a couple days there but our base will be this park and the beaches for this week then we go to Long Key right on the water. Today is rest day, looks like a little rain may fall. Well needed, been very dry. Seem to be doing well with Direct TV. Finally got it up and going. Great help in these remote areas. Frank's favorite old movies. Last nite was so clear the sky looked like it was full of diamonds. What a sight!! And the fish are just jumping into the pan. One of my more colorful dreams! Regards to all.

How is evertibe? I just got out of the hospital on Friday. I was in for excessive bleeding afer a prostate biopsy and removing one of the Foley Catheters they put in. Everyting is ok now, still a little woosy from all the blood loss but I feel much better,no prostate cancer, just an enlarged prostate. I was in for 5 days, wow they sure do move slow in the hosptials nowadays. Hey, Ellie, mysons and I always used IM for talking now, any more help needed?

Jul 17, 2007 at 12:08:08 ellie (fl.)
Billy, So nice to hear from you once again. Franko and I are very pleased for you that your care got you out of the danger zone. Frank has had similiar experience. Seeds did it for him and his psa count continues to be very low. Keep close tabs on your count. Yes, we found that the wheels do turn slowly in hosp. that's why one has to have an intermediate to push. I did everything but bang my shoe on the nurses counter. Even offered to help, which I did for Franko, of course, but I would have made beds and anything else since they were so short of staff. Yes, Bill, when you get good and strong, I do need a hint about the IM. No rush, you take it easy. We're all pulling for you!!!!!!!!!

Jul 18, 2007 at 17:04:38 wcrow (truckee/lincoln)
Hello to all of you good people. I am sitting here thinking of all I have to do to get ready for my trip to Europe next week and getting tired just making lists. I will go from Amsterdam to Vienna on the river boat. When I return it will be time to "Get Ready for Some Football"!!!! Fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons but fun filled Saturdays watching the action is number 1 for me. This summer has really moved fast. My foot has healed so it is time to hit the trails again . I am going to walk up the Squaw Valley Creek trail tomorrow to Shirley Lake. It is 6 miles rt so it will be fun. Dave, I remember the River Walk in San Antonio as being a pretty sight. I saw it at winter time while there to see Cal destroy Iowa in some low level Bowl Game called the Alamo Bowl. Everyone keep standing and walking around the block. Luv you all wc

Jul 18, 2007 at 17:52:19 BillyC (IN/OH)
Hey Ellie, IM is easy. You just put your friends onthe "Budy List" and you will see then if they are on the web. You can then can send a msg via IM, My email name is muffinman6929, if you put me on your buddy list, each time when your are online My name will show on your buddy list. It's that simple. I was just talking with my son when I started this msg. I'm fine now,.

Jul 21, 2007 at 12:26:31 ellie (fl.)
Bill, Is it that you have to all be on the same net for IM?

Jul 21, 2007 at 22:38:27 BillyC (In/OH)
Yes, ellie.

Jul 22, 2007 at 16:21:16 Ellie & Franko (Fl.)
Here we are in Long Key State Park right on the Atlantic. We can walk out of the RV and right into the water, if you want to that is. Other than that, there is nothing here and you have to drive to any small town. That's fine. We find things to do and I cook and we enjoy the beach and all the little critters. At weeks end we go home for 2 weeks then start out again to do No. Fl. About 5 parks are scheduled and it may be a bit cooler.

Jul 23, 2007 at 14:56:35 David (Baton Rouge)
Tomorrow I'm off to visit RO's sister Barbara, husband Howdy and Duke for a week. Barb says the corn crop is in and it's really good this year. Sure don't want to miss that...I think. I saw three very interesting place names on the trips to and from San Antonio. One was a street named Dell Dale, another was a creek named Hollering Women and of course the third I don't remember, but it was a good one. So everyone knows, a check for the balance ($920.63) of the Corcoran Class of 56 dues was mailed to Tommy Dunehew on June 27, 2007. Ellie do you drive that great big RV or you just give commands.

Jul 24, 2007 at 09:51:21 ellie& frank (Fl.)
I can drive it and I have driven it, but I don't like driving under Frank's terms which is that if I drive I have to pay for the gas and if Frank drives he pays. I'm for that. 95 gal. As far as the commands, Frank says I still tell him what to do and if he wants to be fed he has to listen. We're having a ball down here.

Jul 26, 2007 at 19:28:51 Jim (Tulare)
Ellie . . . Franko sounds like a very smart man. I think he knew your answer to the two options of who is driving. Wow why didn't I think of that.

Jul 27, 2007 at 17:11:56 BillyC (IN/OH)
Actually, Ellie, the answer is "NO", you don't have to be on the same net. I talk with my sons and BGG721 and we aren't on the same net.

Aug 1, 2007 at 09:41:57 David (Baton Rouge)
I'm home from Barbara Oldham Sallee's. Had a great time. I think the main reason I went is because Barbara's one of the best cook in the world and even though I'm was trying to lose 10 more lbs; I ate everything she made. Cherry and pineapple pie, friendship cake, fried chicken, pork chops, potatoes, corn on the cob, fried corn, ect, ect... I now weigh 10 lbs more than I did a week ago. Plus I was exercising two or three time a day with Duke. Duke is in charge of watering and fertilizing all the trees, shrubs, power poles and fire hydrant in the area. Thank You Barb and Bob. We'll be back in October. Now I need to build a garage for my boat.

Aug 3, 2007 at 06:06:16 ellie & frank (Fl.)
We're returning to John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo on the 13th of Aug. Going in as camp hosts until Oct. 1. Then it's possible that we transfer to St. Augustine for 2 weeks. That's no. Fl. cooler, Thank Heaven. Fun and Games. busy times!

Aug 6, 2007 at 10:30:28 JimG (Tulare)
I wonder if the pilots name of the barge is "Captain Boo Boo!" Or maybe the lift bridge operator was on a coffee break.::

Aug 7, 2007 at 14:29:44 David (Baton Rouge)
Well now I've done it. As of today, I no longer have a land line phone. The phone number 225 928 5583 has been disconnected. I now only have two phones. My computer with Skype and my cell phone.

Aug 8, 2007 at 10:01:46 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . I see now the latest laptops have Skype built in already. We just missed having it on our new laptops by a couple of months. Oh well I guess we will have to use the cell phone for now!

Aug 8, 2007 at 12:50:14 David (Baton Rouge)
Hi Jim, Skype is a eBay company. If you go to www.ebay.com you can download the program for free. You need earphones and a mike that you can buy ay Wal-Mart for $15. If you want a camera that's another $20. The requirements for the computer is windows 2000 or better. Then you can call a phone number anywhere in the world, that you would want to call, for 1.2 cents per minute or computer to computer for free anywhere.

Aug 10, 2007 at 20:58:01 ellie (fl.)
Is it too soon to inquire regarding the 08 reunion? We are already booking summer monthes in the next year for parks and a hint of when possibly in or around, just a clue, as to when you would be considering, of course, not to pressure, take your time, the event would be held and where so I could pencil it in for the future. Thank you.

I got back on Monday from the River Trip in Germany. A very good ship that acts like a transformer toy. It folds very flat to go under most of the bridges on the Rhine and main rivers. I could touch the bridges sitting down and good thing that I was sitting. Enough scars on my head already. The trip was slow paced filled with old people about 68-70 or so. I spent 3 days in Vienna at the end just looking around. Can't afford to buy much with the dollar so weak. It is good to be back and getting ready for the college football season. I am not going to any away games this year to give the Bears a chance at winning. Good to read that all is well with the best friends a man could ever want. More later wc.

Aug 22, 2007 at 07:28:26 ellie & Franko (fl.)
Well, we're still doing our volunteer stint in the park and it is great. Going home for 3 days on 9-13 just to check everything and get supplies. Leaving the RV in the park. Nice perk. Life is slow and quiet yet the days just fly by. David, where are you? It must be very busy out there for everyone cause there's hardly any chat. Where are you???? The dog days of summer. Welcome back Wayne.good to go and great to be back home. I suppose you speak the language by now, yes? Anyone flooded yet? What a mess from weather these days. Jump right in and let's hear from you. I'm starting to talk to myself.

Aug 24, 2007 at 11:12:52 David (Baton Rouge)
My computer has had a headache the last few days and would let me touch her. I got the following email from Tom and Shirley about the reunion next year "Hi David, The class reunion will be in Sept. I hope. I talked to the people at the motel, and they would not let me choose a date until at least 1 year prior to the date we wanted. I am looking at Sept. 16, 17, and 18. That is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I checked with several motels and they were basically the same. The prices were a little different, but everyone liked the Spy Glass Inn so That is where we will have the Reunion. We will go over to the Coast next month and try to get everything all set up. I will let you know when that happens." Hi Ellie, I been hanging around the house working on the garage. I got the water meter relocated yesterday. Been working on the foundation. Going to take it easy for the next few days, the heat has been bad and I've got too hot a couple of times. Told my doctor about it and she wanted to know if I'd been stupid for a long time. So I'm going to take it easy for a while.

Aug 29, 2007 at 19:21:44 wayneC (next party)
Thanks Dunehews for setting the dates. I get happy when my doctor makes an appointment with me 6 months in advance so I am also glad when I can circle dates to meet with my best pals. Middle of the week is really good. I am back at Donner Lake for the Labor Day to spend time with my family. Next thing we know the snow will fall(we hope). If we get another short year the water will be rationed again in Calif and the folks in LA will be asked not to wash their cars with NO. Cal water. My next trip will be to Connecticut in Oct to see son Mike and family. Of course it will be when Cal has away games. David, take it easy with the garage. Having a project to work on is good but you have to stay healthy to keep working on it. Who cares if it is ever finished. I have 2 places in this house that are still unfinished after 30 years but what is the hurry? I tell my kids when I get it finished it will be a signal that I have nothing left to do . Be good all of you or at least have fun.wc

Hi Folks, we're kind of dry here in Indiana and Oio now, we are down almost a foot of rain this year. At least I don't have to cut the grass as much. Hey, wayne. I saw the last [art of that game on tv the other night. I figured it would make you happy to some degree. Oh well, just some thing to keep ellie happy.

The Corcoran Class of 1947 is having a reunion the 15th of this September at the Marriott Hotel in Visalia, I think. They are inviting members of other classes within five years to join them. More details later.

Sep 5, 2007 at 15:55:50 David (Baton Rouge)
OK, I got the information about the class reunion for the 1947 class. It will be at the Marriott in Visalia on the 16th & 17th of September, not the 15th. The contact for the shindig is Joe Hammond in Corcoran at 992-2961.

Billy, What makes me happy is a nice big lobster about the size of a football. We're in Lauderdale now. We escaped Pennekamp. Not a good idea, that deal. More to follow as we recoop.

Talked to one of our classmates yesterday for over an hour and one of many items we discussed was: What the hell kind of outfit did we hire to take pictures of us at the 50th reunion in Visalia. Here it is September and I realize they have only had a year to produce some pictures and a little book. I guess it all goes back to "Don't pay in advance" I would think the end of this month would be a good time to: 1) Get the stuff we paid for. 2) Get a refund. 3) Get a lawyer. Also, this isn't Jacqueline's problem It's all our problem. Anyone dare disagree with me.

How can we help?? Publish their name and address and all pertinent info and we can bombard them with calls and e mails etc. Are they still in business?

Classmates, David called me about the book yesterday, I told him I already had called on Wednesday because I found out they had not cashed our check. I had quit calling about the book printing at the end of June because I thought maybe I was bugging them too much and they were ignoring me. My accountant pointed out on Wednesday that they had not cashed my ck dated 12/09/06 for right at $1000. I called, asked the person I had contacted to speak to her supervisor. I was told he would be in at 9am on Friday. I called at 9:02am, after talking to him, asked to speak to a company official, preferably the owner. Spoke to the Vice president, who is also the PR & advertising department head. We have reach a new agreement, I am stopping payment on my uncashed check, sending him one for half, with the other half to be sent when I have been notified by my classmates that they have ALL received their books & pictures. He will call me Tuesday afternoon with a definite shipping date. I sent the check this afternoon, UPS so that I have a tracking # and I have stopped payment on the other check. In the meantime he has called me back stating he has found the problem at their end as well as the check...which I had already stopped..so sad. From what he said I think someone was dropping the ball big time not just with us..because he kept thanking me for calling it to his attention. will keep you informed as well as continue to bug them big time jt

It's let's make a deal time. Tell the crook you'll buy the negatives for $20.00 and he can keep the book. ::Dear Jac, save yourself the aggravation, and chock it up to a bad supplier and stop the second check. Then transfer the funds to the next reunion. Problem solved. If it's a headache, life is too short. We love you, your little(hah) Jewish friend.

The Corcoran High School Class of 1959 is planning a cruise reunion in 2009. Their intentions are to have many CUHS alumni join them. More information will be forthcoming. I might just go myself if they let me drive the boat.

Funny week, I finished all the excavation for the foundation of my garage. The next day we had the normal chance of afternoon thunder showers that turned into a hurricane off the cost of Huston. Anyway it rained on my excavation for 12 hours straight and it became a pond. I purchased a pump with a float switch. Then waited for it to dry out. Went out this morning into clear blue sky, low humidity and a steady breeze blowing. Was able to form up the foundation and made a jib for bending the rebar. Decided to pour concrete next Saturday. We don't get too many nice days here. This one, I was able to get a lot of work done. Normally I start at 7:00 and quit around 10:00. Today I worked to 12:00 and went back at 12:30 and quit at 3:00. Didn't have any soaking wet clothes to peel off.

David, slow down you move too fast..got to make these moments last..well the weather report is now saying Fall is really here so i am off to Truckee to shut off water and get ready for some winter. How good it is to be only 90 minutes away from the cabin. I can also make a date to get the tire shop to put on the snow tires later. Again I have had computer problems with my modem and getting AOL to hook on. I was told by the computer geek to use Windows Explorer and then go to AOL and it seems to work. I think AOL is trying to take over my whole computer. I am planning to dump the service but I know it is not easy and they will send people out to get me. I may have to change identities but that may be ok too! Cal wins, and I am happy, Bill is too! Won't last for long when they play a good team on the road. I know LSU and USC would beat us badly right now. Fun time of year for me. I am off to NEW York to see my son Mike for a few days . He is taking me up to Vermont for some "leaf peeping". Love all of ya, be good..wc

Sep 21, 2007 at 11:56:27 David (Baton Rouge)
I scheduled my concrete pour of the garage slab for Saturday the 22nd. The weather service saw what I was doing and scheduled a hurricane for the same day. I'm not going to let them get away with this. They will just have to wait their turn. My pour starts at 8:00 AM tomorrow. Wayne, do you see what happens when you screw around. I was ready to pour Wednesday. Of course I couldn't get any concrete or help then, but .....

DAVID, I HOPE YOU HAVE A LOT OF RAIN GEAR, PLASTIC,COURAGE AND GOOD, RELIABLE HELP. BRAD

Sep 22, 2007 at 21:15:25 David (Baton Rouge)
You are correct Brad, but one world class Superintendent can offset a lot of problems. The pour went fine. The only problem was the first truck arrived an hour and a half late. The second truck was there 10 minutes later. 15 yards of concrete was placed in a half hour. The slab was covered at 2:00 PM. The rain started at 2:30.

Sep 23, 2007 at 10:38:43 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, YOU DID A SUPER JOB DAVE. WE ALL HAVE MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR. THIS IS HE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE, I WILL REJOYCE AND BE GLAD IN IT. So..What did you do today?...I'll tell you what I did. I started putting up the framing for my garage. I was doing pretty good and had completed one wall. I had taken off one of my gloves so I could handle a pencil to mark some cuts when a delivery man showed up. I said I would meet him in the carport. Went to the patio and took off my hat and the other glove and left them on a chair. Finished up with the guy in the carport. Went back into the house and kind of made a trip around the house to see if something needed done before going back to the garage. Finding nothing, I went back out to the patio and picked up my hat, but didn't see my glove anywhere. I figured I must have left it somewhere else. So... I retraced my steps through the house. Found nothing. Went to the guestroom in case I went there. Found nothing. When out to the storage shed where I found nothing except a knife I'd been looking for a year or more. Finally, I figured some one swiped my glove. What would they do with one glove? I went back to the garage where I'd left the first glove. It was still there. I bent over to pick it up and to my surprise the first glove fell off the top of my hat and landing next to the second. I picked up all the tools and put them in the shed. Went in the house and had a cold drank. Sat down in front of the TV and watched the "As the World Turn. Rosemary where are you when I need your help?

Today was such a gift! I just got off the telephone with my dear classmate, Jacque Polzine. We had started kindergarten together in 1943. Then there was 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade . How I loved my 5 years in Corcoran.~~~It was a sad day when my family moved to Exeter, Ca. where I attended the 5th grade through my freshman year in high school.~~~The summer of 1953 my family moved to Antioch, Ca. where I enrolled as a sophomore.....graduating with the Class of 1956 my senior year.~~~At the end of my freshman year of college (1957)....I met Sam DeLoach who had come to California to work for the summer. Sam was a veteran of the Korean War and at the time was attending Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. He returned to O.U. in September. I continued with my sophomore year in California.~~~Never doubt the power of the pen! We wrote to each other that school year. At the end of that college year, Sam returned to Antioch in May.....AND.....we were married on September 11, 1958. We then made our home in Oklahoma where Sam and I both graduated from college.~~~Upon graduation we returned to Antioch, Ca. where we both started our life work in education.~~~We both acquired our masters degree.~~~Sam was the head counselor at Antioch High School. I was a master teacher for 37 years as the elementary level.~~~Sam retired in 1991. Six months after his retirement Sam was diagnosed with leukemia. We so did hope and pray for a remission. That was not bo be. My beloved Sam died in my arms on October 15, 1997.~~~~~I stayed on the property for about 2 years. I soon knew that my heart would never heal if I stayed there. I then sold the property and moved into my rental...while I had a home built in Summerset III here in Brentwood.~~~The past 10 years have been filled with

Betty, it is so good to hear from/about you at long last. I remember you and have many pictures from school. Please write more, or at least add your name/address to our member's list so we can continue to correspond with you. Welcome. Sure glad that Jacque was able to contact you. Hope you will join us next September. You'll always be a part of our "class". Barbara

Hi Classmates, Betty found me, I was so surprised I forgot to ask how. I hope she will continue to chat with us and come to our reunion in 08

Oct 3, 2007 at 22:46:31 Betty [Gibson] DeLoach (Brentwood)
How GREAT to hear from you, Barbara!!! Hope to see many of my classmates once again. Corcoran and those "cementing" early years mold you forever. Jacque mentioned a reunion in '08. I almost fainted today when the phone rang and it was David calling to welcome me into the circle. Jacque was so dear to me over the phone. She took down all of the info and shot it "thru" cyber space to Baton Rouge. My 50th Reunion in Antioch was a 3 day wonder. The Exeter Class of '56 always kept me as a member. I attended the 50th Reunion there, also. Take care of you. Happy trails, Betty

Betty Gibson????????????? Well, How do you do!!!!!!!!!!! This is going to be a truly wonderful experience for you. I was found 3 years ago and haven't been the same since! Hard to believe, isn't it?! I used my maiden name so you would maybe remember me. I have too many other names to mention at this time, plus a 25 year widowhood as well. This website can bring joy to your days and good memories to your heart. Welcome and enjoy.

Hello again classmates. I just returned from New York and Connecticut where it was soooo hot and humid. I visited my son and then went to 4 shows in NY. Lots of fun but tooo many people. I got a call from David on the cell phone about finding Betty and then I lost the call and his number. Welcome Betty!! I knew you were in the Bay area because Bill Streshly said he talked with you in years past. I have placed the dates on my calendar for next Sept. I find that very encouraging to put events that are one year away on the calendar..seems to be a reminder that I still have lots to do. For now, I will stay close to home and rest up for the winter of skiing ahead. Go Bears ###2. Can they hold up. Stay tuned. Corcoran seems to know how to play football again. Thanks Brad for the news. David, keep taking those walks around the house and Rosemay will find lots of lost items for you. love all of you. wc

To Whom it may concern of the Class of 1956:::::I would like to pass on some information to all of the class of 1956. On September 20, 2007, Zane Newsom passed away in his home in Torrington, Wy. He was my brother in law and many times he asked about some of his class mates.::::

Oct 10, 2007 at 12:05:12 David (Baton Rouge)
Thank You for the information Tom. Zane was always a good friend to me and I always had good memories of him. It's too bad I never got to sit and talk to him about his days as an Alaskan fisherman, a heavy construction worker or Wyoming rancher. Be at peace Zane.

Time to take a good break from moving a PILE of large landscaping rocks!!! You have heard that old saying: "If it is to BE...it is up to me!"[grin] From one of the phone calls I just learned of the death of Verdell Florence. This is not new news to any of you...but it is to me. I was so in the hope that I could one day see him again and thank him. Now I will thank his wife and pray that it blesses her in some small way. I put in a call to Joan Florence and left a brief message on her machine. I shall call until I get her. I have so many precious memories I wish to share with her. Verdell was so very kind. Thank you, Wayne for the welcome message. Brad, I did go to your family website as you ask. You certainly have done a splendid job on the many layers in your site. Happy trails, Betty

Hi everyone . . . I went to watch the Corcoran/Exeter game in Exeter with Lew Florence. My grandson usually always goes to the games with us but this night his Dad and Mom have relatives and friends that live in Exeter so they sat on the losers side. I was glad the Panthers ripped them and that ended all the stories about Exeter's great team! Also a football note . . . The Panthers coach doesn't have a punter or just believes his defense is just too good . . . On 4 different times he went for it on 4th and short or medium yards inside their own 35 yards line. But you know they failed each time to get a 1st down and then stopped the Exeter team from getting a score when they took over the ball. Hard to be a spectator isn't it!!!

Oct 11, 2007 at 13:23:39 David (Baton Rouge)
Jim...Give me a call or read your email or answer your home phone. I wrote your cell phone number on the wall and can't remember which wall.

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS, CORCORAN 63, LINDSAY 7. THATS 401 SCORED TO 38 GIVEN UP. MAKE PLANS FOR A GREAT WEEKEND WITH GOD'S BLESSINGS, BRAD

Oct 13, 2007 at 13:14:01 JimG (Tulare)
Brad I think you are using Lew's math . . . the paper said it was 301 which is still 43 points per game average. Not bad . . . Go Panthers!!! Tulare Union is also off to a 7-0 season. Hard to watch both on a Friday night under the lights.::

Oct 13, 2007 at 14:41:35 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . did you frame your boat house to handle the Emma Maersk? Anybody ask what size "BOAT" you are framing for tell them to look at our website.

Oct 13, 2007 at 21:17:41 David (Baton Rouge)
Yea Jim, I think it'll fit, but I need to find a trailer to put it on. We are about 6 miles to the river. Also, the Corp of Engineers need to widen and dredge about 200 miles of the Mississippi River. The pictures and music of Billy Joel's "I Didn't Start the Fire" was to good to pass up. Take a look at it. And of course thank Julia for sending it to us. Betty Gibson...Please be careful about what you say about me. A few kind word can ruin the lifetime I've put in to my reputation. I moved the garage to my page off the member list. I wish some more of you would send in a "bio". Also, classmate that have a "bio" are welcome to update it. Starting yesterday I'm on vacation and we (My Traveling Companion and I) are going to Indiana, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Virginia, North Carolina and Alabama. When I get back in three weeks, I plan to start build the rafters for the boat garage.

Oct 13, 2007 at 21:24:27 David (Baton Rouge)
And.. LSU has lost to Kentucky. What comes around goes around. I could hear the TV in the other room and someone was saying Cal Cal Cal. I went into the room just in time to hear Cal...he's going for the hotdog vender. Then I realized they were saying Cow Cow Cow. Sorry Bill and Wayne.

Wayne I just new you were at that game . . . I was going to call you on your cell phone to tell you to close your eyes or something. I was hollering at Tedford to kick the field goal with 18 seconds left with no timeouts . . . but NO he had to run more time off the clock WHICH THEY DID! But of course nobody listens to old football players. Bill how come you let Wayne go to the game?

Oct 15, 2007 at 23:11:27 BRAD (VISALIA)
HI ALL, JIM, YOU ARE RIGHT, 301 IS THE CORRECT NUMBER. BUT, GIVE THEM TWO WEEKS AND MY NUMBER WILL BE GOOD THA WAY THEY ARE GOING. THEY PLAY PARLIER AND WOODLAKE THE NEXT TWO WEEKS. LOVE BRAD

A quick update from SLO: we have a new granddaughter Kendall Rose Thomson, born 10/16/07 @ 12:36PM,8lbs 12 oz.,20 1/2 Inches. Her head measures 14" as does her chest and she has broad shoulders. She's as cute as can be (I could be partial)with a nice head of hair...not bald, a few of mine were. There is a little bump in the road she has a clef pallet that only is visable on the inside. It can be fixed with a little surgery and is not life threatening. She is being observed in the neonatal intensive care for a few days to make sure she can eat. Compared to the other babies in there the Thomson's are very fortunate, thank God.

Wayne/Billy no comment?? My husband truly enjoys watching Cal play, then waits for Wayne's weekly comments....He hasn't missed a game this year, has actually started rooting for Cal......but he does look forward to the post game review.

Jacque, All I got out of that game was a sunburn. I think I'll start following the Corcoran Panthers exclusively--better football, more exciting. -BS (aren't those great initials?)

Oct 23, 2007 at 11:47:12 ellie & frank (fla.)
We are watching the news re: Fire!! What can you tell us from San Diego, Bill? We heard briefly, a mention about a castle. Was it the Hearst Castle and did the fire get to it? David, is anyone of our people in jeopardy with this situation? Any news is appreciated.

Oct 23, 2007 at 22:07:59 Bill S (San Diego)
It's pretty smokey around here. This year has been very, very dry in Southern California (a little over 3 inches of rain for the year). The fires were triggered by simultaneous Santa Ana winds in LA (coming from Palm Desert)and San Diego (coming from Imperial Desert). The humidity dropped to 4%, a transformer exploded, and the result was a dozen or more monsterous fire storms all over the Southland. One of our politicians termed the big San Diego fires "the perfect fire storm." Lots of folks have lost their homes. Wayne's brother Cecil was temporarily relocated from his Rancho Bernardo home to Qualcomm Stadium. We've been lucky. Our cabin at Big Bear Lake near the Arrowhead and Running Springs fires has narrowly escaped--so far. I guess wild fires are just a fact of life in California. No, the "castle" they mentioned on TV was an historic ranch house near Ramona owned by an old movie star, not the Hearst Castle. That would really be a catastrophe! Bill S ::

Today I received an email from my brother-in-law, Jim DeLoach. Jim is a Red Cross Volunteer. He got "the call" yesterday...at his home in Tulsa, OK... to report today in San Diego to help with the disaster. He will be there three weeks. If any of you have family or friends in that disaster area and have not been able to reach them.......let me know via telephone, email or this web-site. Red Cross workers have access to lists and updated info. It may be a long shot.....but he has helped others in past disasters. I also know that the ham radio operators are another means of help with info. Hugs to all, B.G.D.

The reason that Cal played so badly is that they were so worried about all the people caught up in the fires in So. Cal since so many of them either lived there or had family in the areas. The players are such good kind gentlemen they were busy soliciting donations to send to the fire victims. The Cal coaches also were away doing volunteer work. I think also that the air was bad to breathe in Calif so that is why the team ran out of gas late in the game. What else can I think of? Of course I know that 2/3 of the Arizona team came directly from So. Cal but they are not the caring type of men so they must have practiced harder and took some steriods to ward off the bad air. Also we know that Coach Erickson brings in paroled convicts and thugs to play for him like he did at Miami and Oregon State. How can good kind gentle football players who aspire to be doctors and teachers and lawyers play against them? Obviously they can't as the results show. Bah Humbug. Wait till next year!!wc

Wayne . . . that almost sounded like a Dear John letter! Well anyway you and Lindon won't be arguing who is going to be the Big 10 champ.::::

Oct 29, 2007 at 00:09:54 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
Bill & Wayne, John says your post game show is the best. Believe it or not he stayed up until the bitter end last night. That is a personal best for John, he's usually in bed by 9. Wayne, I printed your post game comments for John, I can hear him still laughing as he watches his Rockies. One thing John is great at is multitasking.....Football, World Series, Drag races, and what ever is on.....all at once. Bill, John says your initals are interesting, Boy Scout, Best Superhero, and a few choice ones I won't print. JCBVPT....all of my initals!

Oct 29, 2007 at 12:13:05 JimG (Tulare)
Just a quick note to change the thing about Big 10 when it was suppose to say the Pac 10 (slight memory moment saying it nicely). . . Jackie it does sound like John is getting a big kick out of Wayne's post game commentary. Watch out for them Bears next year! By the way the Panthers won again last Friday and play for league championship this Friday.

Classmates I received a call today from the Memory Book people stating that they mailed the memory books for LAST YEAR by bulk mail on the 22 of October! They stated that it would take 5 to 14 days to deliver (in other words they were not sent first class) Please let me know when you receive yours because they don't get paid the other half until I hear that they have been received. I don't get mine until I pay. I've seen a "proof" copy and they goof on a couple of things....one my correction of the letter...they didn't correct it. The paper quality stinks (my opinion)they pointed out the deluxe edition for $5 more. At least it's printed. jt

Oct 30, 2007 at 11:05:52 JimG (Tulare)
Jackie . . . you might check with the company if you have the possibility of obtaining a printers version of the disk as part of the deal on the final payment when you get your book. That way if someone wants to have a better quality booklet it would be easy to do . . . If not I am sure the book will be ok as is!

Hi Everyone. Our three week vacation fell a little short. We left Baton Rouge on a Monday and drove straight thru to Indiana. Tuesday we did some walking and played some cards at Rosemary's sister Barbara. The next day we went to eat Mexican food and all of a sudden, to everyone enjoyment, I couldn't talk. I was taken to the hospital were I had trouble walking, the lost conscience for about a half hour. After some tests The doctor decide that I shouldn't eat Indiana Mexican food. He suggested we rest and return to Louisiana to see my own Doctor. To date we don't know what happen to my mind, but we did have some world class meals at Barbara's, visited the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, the Grand Old Opry, Natchez on the Mississippi and New Orleans. With brunch at the Court of the Two Sisters. The Garage is on hold per my Doctor.

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS, WENT TO THE CORCORAN/ CENTRAL VALLEY CHRISTIAN FOOTBALL GAME LAST NIGHT. I HATE TO BE THE ONE TO BRING BAD NEWS, BUT IT WAS CORCORAN 22 AND CVC 29. IT WAS SAD. SAW DON GILKEY AT THE GAME. HE LOOKED GOOD, BUT HE IS DEGENERATING FAST. IT IS SAD TO SEE HIM THIS WAY. GOD'S BLESSINGS TO ALL. LOVE, BRAD

Funeral Services for Zane E. Newsom, 68 were held Sept. 24, 2007. Zane was born Oct. 4, 1938 in Los Angeles. They lived in California and had four children. Zane worked as a computer programmer handling data for the space program at Edwards Air Force Base. They moved to Kansas City, MO, where he worked for TWA. They then moved to Juneau, AK, where he worked as a computer programmer for the state of Alaska. They had one more child. He moved to a village in Alaska and became a commercial fisherman for five years before moving to Astoria, OR, where he worked as a mechanic. I was "Truly Blessed" today upon receiving the 50 Year Reunion Book. It was so wopnderful going through it and seeing all your wonderful faces. My downfall was only that I wasn't able to be there in person with all of you. Hopefully next year in the fall of 2008 that will be different for me & I'll be able to attend that Reunion. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL of you and may your Future Days be Blessed. Much Love, Patty

Hi everyone . . . Hey David (aka Indiana Jones) glad you are feeling better and back home! The garage can wait! The doctor probably ordered turkey instead of chili verde. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Jim & Arlene::::

Classmates, I talked to Fermin Espinosa this afternoon, he informed me That Manuel Zapeda passed away about 6 months ago. He also said that Sid Grant's older sister wrote a book about Corcoran during our era that is very interesting. He told me a bit about the book, sounds like something to read. So Sid, how about letting us all know about the book, title, author's name, publisher or where we can get the book. Also, someone told me Tom Dunehew wasn't well.....is that rumor or fact? I have a few extra runion books if you know someone that wants one.....had to order more because there was a minimum order. Last but surely not least, my John wants to know if Wayne & Lindon are watching the game together? He's already looking forward to the post game show. jt

Well John and other sports fans let me tell you that the best team won. If it had been a dry field SC would have won by about 38-21. It was the wettest day I have ever spent in a stadium. Rained all the game but I stayed somewhat dry wearing a large white plastic bag that made me look like the SC nickname(Trojans). We used to say that Trojans are weak and unreliable. When Bill came out of the game and took out his wallet, it was soaked, and I accused him of laundering money again. The only bad point was the SC students who came into the rows in front of us and would not sit down. I was with a group of old 59 Rose Bowl teammates and we debated what would happen to us if we attacked the drunk SC fans. ::We thought we might win the fight but lose the battle as our bones would not heal well and we would get sued. Don P was worried that he would lose his wine collection and Gale B thought that his apple orchards would be seized. I, not having that much to lose just thought I might get my butt kicked by a 20 year old. Would a judge really rule against some 69-70 year old jocks taking on drunk college boys? We thought we couldn 't take the chance and that was a good thing for the drunk boys. Wait till next year!!!wc

Maybe next year you can get one of those Cal Cheerleaders to help you poor old things. Some looked pretty tough.

I've received another letter from Tilly Tumbleweed. The first one I got I figured it was a politician trying to get elected. I figured the first thing they needed to do is change their name if they wanted to succeed. Anyway, it turns out that Tilly Tumbleweed is the ghost name used by the little blue eyed blonde that live on the other side of the Methodist Church from me. She wrote to say, "She did not just find all of my dear K thru 4th grade classmates, after 59 years, to go and have you all start acting up and dropping off !!!" I think that was a good ideal. One of my doctors say I had a stroke. The second one want to see me Wednesday to tell me what he thinks. I walk around that garage and I can see everything that needs to be done. I'm a builder and I want to jump in the middle of the thing...BUT DARN..IT.. Today I was baby sitting the two youngest grandkids that live here. My Granddaughter is 10 and I have another 10 year old granddaughter in Tampa. So..I call the one in Tampa with the cell phone and handed to the one here. I only have 450 minute a month. Never heard so much talking ever. After an hour I said enough!!! Learn something everyday.

Dave...are grandkids more or less stressful than building a garage? Tomorrow I am hosting a lunch for Pat's family because a wedding is taking place on Sunday..here is the plan..the nephews and nieces will get me all up to date..Jim will fix the surround sound on my TV-music equipment (he set it up and I have messed it up),Steve will update my cell phone with new numbers..speed dial and voice activation...Monica will run some cleanups on my computer and clean up the drives...Erik and Joe will move some heavy furniture to a new spot...the sisters will set up and serve lunch....I get all this for price of a lunch for 20 people. Oh yes,,,they are great people and I really enjoy still being part of the family. Happy Turkey Time to all of you.wc

Nov 15, 2007 at 17:04:39 David (Baton Rouge)
Wayne the garage is less stressful than grandkids. Grandkids are less stressful than Kids. Went to the Neurologist and I did have a small stroke. I asked him about a brain transplant. He said the odds of finding someone who would trade his brain for mine is unlikely. He said he wanted me to stay physically and mentally active. I ask about the garage. He said that would be good therapy, but take it a little easy. No hard physical work. Work the brain and not the muscles.

Hi Classmates, put your thinking caps on Betty Gibson DeLoach wants to know Who's still around from Kindergarten through 4th grade....betty sorry I thought you just meant Kindergarten. So it's Bill Streshly, Frank Avitia, Bill connally, James Ordonez, Brad Gilton, Wayne Crow, Barbara Goodrich, Marie Martinez, Ellie Taub, David Gilbert Nate Marshall, Maurice Jones, Henry Spencer, Henry Clark, Marry Ellen White....if we can find her. EmilioRodriguez, Patty Shepherd, Phyllis Shirakawa, Charlene Prusso, Wyman Scarborough, Doyl Sills, Clara Jo Hargrove, Barbara & Harold Hagler, Sid & Betty Archibald Grant(?), Barbara Fallen, Barbara Mitchell, JIM GONSALVES WHEN DID YOU COME TO CORCORAN? Tom McDonald. I guess the best thing would be to go look at the class pictures and see who I missed. Why don't you all help me? SID GRANT STILL WAITING ON INFO ABOUT YOUR SISTER'S BOOK. FYI, my granddaughter is finally stable and gaining weight, she's beautiful and will have surgery next summer. jt

Nov 19, 2007 at 02:26:29 jacqueline
Just a few more when I got the list out Shirley Lawson, Jimmie Roberson, Bill Neill, Grant Marshall,Ed (Eddie) Harris, Elvira Ramerez, I think Nylon Scott & Jerry White,Linda Baker. Roy Beach came before Jr. High I'm almost positive, After first or second grade we had multiple classes for each grade and then in 5th or 6th some of us were sent to John C Fremont because they built the new school. David with your faaaaamous memory you could probably tell who I've missed. So Betty we have quite the crew of classmates still here THANK God!....I don't want to outlive all my friends. jt

Nov 19, 2007 at 16:12:25 BillyC (In/Oh)
Hey Jacque, also Bill Hurlbutt was in our kindergarten class. We had the same kind of blanket for our nap time, we used to fight over them. So I know he was there. He lives in Visalia now, I think. Anyway. things are okay here at the motel. We are going to Ireland on Jan 3, I hope.

Nov 19, 2007 at 19:30:52 David (Baton Rouge)
I thought I told everyone that I now have a dead spot in my brain. That's the same as saying I had a stroke. Anyway, I don't see Jacqueline Polzin, Jimmy Gonsalves came in the 4th grade, Daniel Adney, David Folsom, Barbara Dailey, Sue Rich, Shirley Lawson or Oga San Juan. Oops! Oga was in another life. I think there are a number listed that showed up after the 4th, but it fills space.

Kindergarten memories....because the bus came only in the morning and went back only after school I had to attend both sessions of Kindergarten. that is the excuse Mom was given but now maybe it was that I was a slow learner. I got 2 treats, 2 naps, did everything double..Mrs. Gordon used me as a TA for the afternoon. I should remember all the classmates but the double session ended too soon. I just bought a house here in Sun City Lincoln and 48 hours later the house in Palm Desert sold!! Is Pat looking out for me??wc

Hi everyone, Just a reminder to update your mailing address with David. I received another memory book back today. Thank God the PO sends the forward address even if it has expired....part of the commercial mailing package. Now I wished I'd had them send one to Mary Ellen White Williams etc, etc. Maybe we would have finally found her. Happy Thanksgiving to EVERYONE!

Nov 21, 2007 at 10:49:07 Barbara (Ventura)
I wish each of you a safe and happy Thanksgiving. May you all be blessed.

Nov 23, 2007 at 10:52:09 Tulare (JimG)
Jacque . . . For many years I thought we came to Corcoran in the 3rd grade but it was the summer before the 4th grade. David is correct on the 4th grade. I still vividly remember the 1st day the 1st recess that Eddie Harris challenged me to see who could do the most pullups. After 20 on the side by side bars we both looked at each other and said enough. Now it MIGHT be one.::

Nov 24, 2007 at 13:29:52 Julia (San Francisco)
Happy Post Thanksgiving to all. Since it is Big Game Week, Bill, Wayne and Tom, are you taking side bets? Neither team has been doing very well, so it should be up for grabs......

Nov 26, 2007 at 20:27:42 wayneC (Lincoln/Truckee)
I have been so busy eating large amounts of Humble Pie lately that I can hardly walk. Never seen a team do a free fall like Cal this year. I think it was all a house of mirrors. When I watch the other teams playing so well and getting better each week I really guestion the coaches and the overall ability of the players. The Cal Stanford game reminds me of the last one I played in back in 59. Two bad teams seeking some personal pride to walk away with. Cal won that one 20-17. Go Bears...please wc

Nov 27, 2007 at 02:46:15 Bill Streshly (San Diego)
I dont think bettng against Stanford in the Big Game this year is very smart, but nice try, Julia. It's good to know that you and Jacque are still trying to get me in trouble. Life is good, isn't it?

Nov 27, 2007 at 20:50:20 David (Baton Rouge)
I've added what I know about the 2008 reunion at Pismo with a link off the Events page. Shirley has it all planned out, but she is busy taking care of Tommy right now. She may need a little help with estimating the costs. Shirley has completed all reservations and at least one classmate has signed up.

David, I just once again, wanted to say, "Thank You" for the splended job you do on arranging so much on our Corcoran High School Site. You have put such an effort into letting all of us able to stay connected. And I know all of our Classmates appreciate how easy you have made it for us to correspond and be welcomed into each & every home as if nothing in the world were more important. So don't forget how much you are appreciated and once again, "Thank You".::Patty

Nov 29, 2007 at 11:12:09 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . you did it again! Every time you tell me to turn the sound up or look at something real close I just know something is going to jump at me; scream at me or . . . so on the picture "Spectacular" I told myself "he is not going to do it again to me and make me jump a mile (I am not sure to what power of 10 that is)! But I could not resist the temptation so I did it anyway. Being somewhat cautious I only leaned my head over so far and waited for something to fall on it or something. When I saw nothing and nothing happened I went to the next picture and THERE IT WAS! Also Arlene really liked that new magazine tool clip . . . However she did say on the Marriage clip that she wanted to see the next edition from the wife's side.

Today I really messed up. Fortunately I wasn't injured or didn't hurt anyone. I always considered myself to have no fear and just walk into about anything that comes along. Believe me when I say that I should have known better and not gone in there. I now know for sure I'll never go into a Toys R Us on a Saturday in December. I'll stake my life on it. You wouldn't believe the catastrophes spinning around me. Fifteen minutes and $180 and I was in the car.

HELLO CLASSMATES, HOPE EVERYONE IS WELL AND HAPPY. WENT TO TAFT TO SEE CORCORAN PLAY IN THE CENTRAL SECTION PLAYOFF GAME. SAD TO SAY, CORCORAN LOST 14 TO 28. THEY HELD THEIR OWN UNTIL THE LAST 7 MIN. OF THE GAME. A FUMBLE ON THEIR OWN 7 YARD LINE WAS THE BREAK THAT GAVE TAFT THE LEAD AND BROKE THE SPIRIT OF THE CORCORAN TEAM. WELL, THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THEY WERE THERE. THERE WERE ONLY 10 TEAMS PLAYING FOR THE 5 DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS. ALL THE REST OF THE TEAMS WERE LEFT BEHIND. TOMORROW IS THE GREATEST DAY OF THE WEEK. I HOPE ALL OF YOU WILL FIND A PLACE TO WORSHIP AND GIVE PRAISE TO OUR GOD. ISN'T HE AWESOME. CONSIDER ALL HE HAS DONE. CONSIDER THE HUMAN BODY. OVER 6 TRILLION CELLS EACH WITH OVER 32 FUNCTIONS. OF THE 10 BILLION OR SO PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN BORN, NO TWO ARE ALIKE. GOD BLESS, BRAD

I would swear this is the San Joaquin Valley, it is 9:30pm and 32degrees and falling! This morning at 6am it was all of 33 my poor avacados will have another setback this year. ::Wayne I noticed the score was 20 to 13 this year almost the same as last years Cal-Stanford game but this year it was Julia's Stanford who won. Julia, did you go, was the tailgating as fun as the old days? I confess I would rather watch it on TV..I've sat once too often in the stadium especially at pro games with the people(mostly men) wanting out to get rid of the beer and buy some more. Back & Forth more than once a quarter. At one game in LA it got so bad that I issued an ultimatium to one man to enjoy the beer before he returned and get rid of it too because I wasn't going to let him out again, period. He tried but had to go the other way, I just ignored him....I must have been really blond that day, but it worked.

Dec 4, 2007 at 10:13:54 JimG (Tulare)
Jacque . . . you guys better move back to the SJV because yesterday I started putting some xmas decor on the outside of the house. About 9 a.m. I started with sweatshirt and warmup pants and by 10 a.m. off came the sweatshirt and 11 a.m. went inside the house to put on shorts. Wow it was warm for this time of year! Also you would have thought it was suntan faces from skiing but it was just our good old weather in the SJV. Maybe it's the methane gas from the cows that's warming up are temps.

Dec 4, 2007 at 18:06:55 Julia (San Francisco)
Yes, it was fun to collect a few bets this year on the Big Game for a change. I even bet on the USC-Stanford game! These one dollar bets will never make me rich, but it is jolly at times. And no I didn't go to this year's game -- even though the tailgates were inviting. It was too cold and dark -- late start because of the Eastern TV pundits. And it was my good friend Bob Murphy's last broadcast as color guy after a 43 year run. Had to listen to him and the well-deserved kudos he received throughout the game.

Dec 5, 2007 at 10:53:17 wcrow (truckee)
Eating Humble Pie leaves a bad taste in one's mouth!! Now I can get cynical and mean. Cal says it is a great University and demands excellence from its students. Hah...it has become the norm to reward all athletes for participation not excellence. Just look at the stack of trophies in every kids room who signed up for soccer, little league, etc. I think all of these so called Bowl games should be called "Participation Bowls" and those schools who play there should reward the players with awards that say "sixth place". I thought Coach Tedford could have won some points by refusing to take a team that has lost 6 of last 7 games to any place but the practice field...which is what these 'participation bowls ' really are. The last 4 schools in the Pac 10 should be allowed to draw names and play one more game just to keep the practice time equal. Not only does Humble Pie taste bad it adds extra pounds that stick around during the holidays and weigh on my mind, reminding me that I have just a few months to lose them before this addiction starts over again. What is an old jock supposed to do??? Merry Christmas to all of my good classmates and friends. wc

Dec 7, 2007 at 09:56:56 JimG (Tulare)
I agree with Wayne on the bowl games . . . Back in the good old days there use to be 4 bowl games with conference champions or unattached team matched up . . . Are you ready for this girls . . . OVER 30 bowl games coming up! This could be the equivalent of 2 seasons in just a couple of weeks. How many commercials will that be?

Dec 9, 2007 at 12:23:54 ellie & Frank (fl.)
Well, I must thank you for the continued ed regarding football. Guys, I never understood it and I still don't regardless of the many hours I've spent watching and running to the kitchen for snacks. But I do keep up with your knowledgable reports of the games. Mind you, the subject now is pro ball and Phillie is in the toilet so we've lost interest for the moment. On Nov. 23rd. my Frank had a total knee replacement. It wasn't fun. He's in 3rd. week recovery and he's able to walk somewhat. But he developed a bit of pneumonia and we're in the midst of clearing it up with antibiotics. Now, the most problematic thing about this whole matter is that his neuropathy has complicated things. So we've been busy to say the least. For such an active man to sit is a major chore. The Rv is sitting outside the window and that's murder. But as all things do, it will heal and we will be going down the road once again. Next is his hip but hopefully we'll wait a year for that. I hope it's like childbirth. You forget about it gradually. Our tomato plants are doing well. Little tomatoes up already. Impatiens and alamanda in full bloom. There will be no Christmas this year for us. Just a nice quiet twosome, hopefully a dip in the pool so we can start the water therapy. Kids are all old and have their own lives and it's just too much hoopla at this time. So all of you out there; have a great holiday season, it's family time. Gave up on Aim. Computers ba-humbug! Love and good health to you all.

yes, folks that bear was very real..my house is just down the hill on donner lake. This made the national news but to the locals it was just another bear story. Some of them are so upset with Bears breaking into their homes weekly that they wished the net wasn't there. Not me!! as you all know I am a real Bear fan. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my good friends. wc

I've added two items recently for Arlene because she felt Jeff Dunham and his dummy Old Crab Walter, "Until death do us part is a goal", were prejudice against Woman. The items are "Why Men Stand Up" and "Classes for Men". Arlene...Jim made me do this. Also the 15th I'll be 70 Years Old and know nothing about this male female thing. So.. Pay attention to your elders.

Dec 15, 2007 at 11:53:47 wcrow (Truckee)
David,,you are our class elder statesman...Can any one name a person who lived in Corcoran in 1950-56 who was 70??? The classes for men must have come from the USC curriculum guide!wc

Wayne: I'm not sure that schools wanted to teach those engineers that kind of stuff- it would just clutter up their minds with what couldn't be used in engineering! ::Loved the bridge and bear. Looks like the engineers were on it. Hank

Hey Wayne, I don't want to name-names, but the curriculum for domesticating men came from a female Stanford graduate !!! ----- The 20th I'm going to Florida for Christmas. Then on the 9th of January I plan to go to California. Robert Lantz and his wife Joyce left here this morning after a fun three day stay. They are on their way to Montana to get out of the cold weather ???

Since today is your birthday Barbara, I'll go ahead and let you off the hook and carry the load until someone bails me out. Surely someone will want to come on and say "Merry Christmas". I'm in Florida and will go home next Thursday.

Dec 24, 2007 at 13:50:42 Betty Gibson DeLoach (Brentwood, CA.)
This Christmas I will be missing my sweet dog, Peek-A-Boo. Her diabetes was being managed by me giving her two insulin shots each day....BUT....when seizures started due to a small brain tumor the glucose levels could no longer be regulated. At the age of 13 years & 6 months I held her gently and talked to her softly as Dr. Jack gave her the GIFT of PEACE to help her cross over to the other side. Golly-Gee.....Life keeps bringing us gifts as well as challenges. There is always a blessing in both if you look deep enough. May this Christmas bring you all a peaceful heart as well as bright hope for 2008. Take care of yourselves & be kind to yourselves. Angelove, Betty

I returned from Florida today and I'm now going to turn my attention on Mexifornia. I hope to see my brother and sisters and traveling companion, but won't make it to San Marcos. Also I hope to meet with the Shirleys and Tom and Bob while there. I'm putting a picture of my Florida Granddaughter, Maryn Elizabeth Gilbert, on my page off the Member page so you'all can guess who she looks like. My Daughter and her husband have revised their site with the next segment of their travels at http://indigomoon.us/

Is there any doubt? Hair a little lighter, with cat eye glasses.... Rosemary. Has she got her grandmother's broad shoulders too?

Dec 31, 2007 at 11:15:16 David (Baton Rouge)
No broad shoulders Jacque, but unfortunately she has her grandma's feet. Maryn plays the piano, sings, dances and is into gymnastics. Her gymnastic coach told me she was a natural and should consider Olympic training when she gets stronger. I Toast All You All A Happy New Year With Many More To Come Yo'All. Much Love David H.
