2006!! Who would have though? The home page counter is near 23,000. The war with the monkeys is still on going. Score stands at 0 monkeys to 167 Dave. They tried twice this morning. Lets all have a good year.

The S/V Indigo Moon is at 20º 43' N / 65º 06' W and is heading for Josh Van Dyke in the BVI. They are under sail at 8 knots with the wind from the east at 17-20 with gusting to 25 mph. Seas at 6-8 ft. Land fall expected at daybreak tomorrow.

Jan 3, 2006 at 22:26:25 Dave (Baton Rouge)
The Indigo Moon pulled into a marina at Josh van Dyke in the BVI before daybreak this morning.

Jan 4, 2006 at 14:43:22 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Be sure to read Julia and Konrad's Around the World in 70 Days. Turns out the Indigo Moon is in Tortola of the BVI. What is the age old question? "Do you know where your kids are?"

Congratulations to Texas for its Two-Peat. The Longhorns beat the Southern California Trojans 41-38 late Wednesday in the Rose Bowl, the BCS national championship game. That's two consecutive Rose Bowl victories for Texas, which should seize the opportunity to bill itself as repeat national champion. Marketing is everything, you know. USC (and ABC and its sister network, ESPN) taught us in 2003 that the Rose Bowl can be the national championship game, even when it's not, if enough people decide it is. Go for it, 'Horns. Hook 'em if you can. That's how USC entered Wednesday's game on a quest for what everybody called a Three-Peat (or a Three-Pete, for USC coach Pete Carroll). I could be wrong, but it seems USC only has one crystal football BCS trophy.::::::

Jan 6, 2006 at 13:52:40 ellie (62 today,Fla.)
David, Although interesting, seems like no one wants to chat about the game. Well, never fear, I watched the game because Frank watched the game. ::The sound of football from the tellie always reminds me of good times such as it does presently. I really don't understand the game but I like all the accessories that surround it. The excitement, color of the uniforms, how neat they are, new inovations such as mouthpieces, neck guards, long socks or no socks, the half time show, music, everything except Star Spangled Banner sung badly. And it takes me back to the very old days when we were loyal only to USC because of mr. Marsi. Do I have that right? Love reading Around the World with the Julia and Conrad team. I'm sure it's enough for a book. Next project! Where in the world is Bill and the Dragon? Will she be appearing in Sept? Jacque, with all the computer change, is there a new address? I should have some snaps soon of something interesting hopefully. Not much with a camera. It's very cold here wwith wind. Guess we can't go to the beach but you never know. I used to sit out in Canada with a Parka zipped down decently to catch a few rays outside in Feb. Time to water the palms. No rain.

Jan 6, 2006 at 13:55:10 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . who do you think might have the other crystal trophy?

Jan 6, 2006 at 14:07:57 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . Any coach that would only line up the QB in the backfield on 4th and 1 on the goaline gives the defensive line only one thing to do but stack up the line . . . why wouldn't you put White in the backfield and now the line and whole defense has to play honest and worry about several different options . . . and of all things they try it again with 6 minutes to go in the game leading by 12 points and don't try to kick it out of bounds deep in the corner. I think USC is too close to Hollywood. BUT . . . I forgot that is why I am a printer and not a coach making millions of dollars!::

Jan 6, 2006 at 20:29:23 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Ellie when I first glanced at your input I though you were 62 today. That couldn't be true. Then I realized it was 62º in Florida today. Football to me was a lot of hard work and not much fun. I agree the fun is in the atmosphere, watching and telling, anyone that will listen, that the coaches and reef's don't know jack. Jim, Texas could have scored the same number of points with a three man team. Center, quarterback and tight end. On defense Texas needed the full roster because USC had an excellent line Mr. Bush scored a lot of T's with no one touching him. I expect Houston will trade their first round choice for a whole bunch lineman. There happens to be a crystel football in Baton Rouge.

Hi everyone, Well, the DL and I are off to go running around South America, tomorrow. Yes, Ellie, The DL and I will be there in September unless we don't get to make it. But for now we'll be there. We'll be back on Feb 3, More then, again. We'll let you then. Right now, It's late and I need to go to sleep.

Jan 16, 2006 at 18:31:33 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Dave Thinks: All the football the last few weeks on TV has made me wonder how a extra point or field goal kicker can hit an upright post and miss the space between the two post. Since a post looks to be around 4 inches wide and the space between the up rights is 18 feet 6 inches for college, the chance of hitting an upright is about 1/29. Assuming the ball travels between the outside of one post to the outside of the other. Anyway a team hitting an upright should be awarded 5 points instead of 0.

Jan 16, 2006 at 20:37:34 wcrow (palm desert)
Dave, That brings back a bad memory of football. I was punting the ball from behind the goalposts, (remember when they were up on the goalline) This was in Boston against the Patriots. I kicked the ball and it hit the upright then came back into the endzone where Boston recovered for a touchdown. It had to be a record for the shortest punt return in football history. Any way it caused a rule change about moving the ball to the closest hash mark for kicking from the endzone. Then the posts were moved to the back line so players stopped running of kicking into the posts. Oh yeah, we lost the game on the recovery.

Jan 18, 2006 at 13:00:03 JimG (Tulare)
Wayne . . . Not sure under David's system how many points that would be worth or to what team . . . But I am sure it will be a mathematical logic behind it (behind goal post). I did run into a guy in Klamath Falls, when I was there helping convert a sister newspaper from hot metal to cold type, who ran into the goal post splitting not only his helmet but also his head open. Needless to say he didn't feel too well.

Brand and David . . . Your new challenge is to check out the new math discovery on the 9.1 million-digit Mersenne prime number. The longest prime number was discovered by an offspring of one of our classmates in Hanford. Actually she was good friends with Arlene and in her class. His name is Steve Boone and was originally from Visalia. I'm still trying to just figure out the value to this 10 year project. Of course all smart mathematic people move out of California after they find out it doesn't add up to stay . . . Just saw this morning that now all the dairymen are up here in are area and all the rich ex-dairymen are in Chino. Last dairy just sold for $500,000 PER ACRE!!!!!!Wow!

Jan 18, 2006 at 21:00:58 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hey Jim, Dr. Boone and Dr. Cooper identified the number in December. When 2n-1 is prime it is said to be a Mersenne prime. Their is the 43rd Mersenne Prime known. The number is 230,402,457-1. The Electronic Frontier Foundation is offering a $100,000 award to the first person or group to discover a ten million digit prime number! My guess it will be the 45th known Mersenne Prime number. Day early and a few dollars short.

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY. JIM, BRAND IS NOT A BAD NAME, I'VE BEEN CALLED WORSE. DAVE, THE NEW SITE OPENING PAGE IS BEAUTIFUL. I HAVEN'T SEEN ALL OF IT YET. GOOD JOB. JIM THANKS FOR THE INFO ON DR. COO[ER. I DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS A LOCAL. HE AND DR. COOPER AT CMSU USED 700 COMPUTERS, RUNNING CONSTANTLY TO FIND THE NUMBER. THERE IS FREE SOFTWARE IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THE DASH FOR THE CASH. THE BIG PRIZE OF $250,000 GOES TO THE ONE WHO GETS THE FIRST BILLION DIGIT NUMBER. SOME PEOPLE SET THE PROGRAM AS THEIR SCREEN SAVER SO IT RUNS CONSTANTLY. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NUMBER. I REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE DOING FRACTIONS IN HIGH SCHOOL, THE PRIME NUMBER WAS THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. I'M SURE IT WILL BE USEFUL TO EACH OF US SOMEDAY. ANYWAY, OUR GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME. BLESSINGS TO ALL, LOVE BRAD

Jan 19, 2006 at 16:16:18 Ellie & Frank (Ft. Myers, Fl.)
Let me be the first to congratulate you on your great achievements. We, personally, prefer a more intimate way of expressing our RELATIONSHIP, and Good night and Good Luck. We are looking forward to Sept. and sharing our life with all you beautiful people. Frank just hopes he doesn't get lost on the way to California. Anyone have any shortcuts? God Bless.

You remember the story about Bob Lantz putting in a solar power pump at his place in North Carolina so he could take a shower. He got so interested in it, he wrote a grant proposal and secured three grants for a demonstration project at school. He then wrote another proposal to the Dept of Labor and it was approved. A very large amount of money was funded in November. The bottom line is: Bob had planned to retire the first of the year. Now he has to stick around. There is a link to the college on the Forum page.

Ellie, buy Frank a TomTom gps system. Great way to travel with those little things on the dash. Arlene named her's Precious (Not me the GPS system). It is 3 demensional and talks to you as you go your merry way down the road.

Jan 19, 2006 at 22:53:47 wayne (pd)
Ellie, take US 10 about 3,000 miles west turn right on US 5 and go over the ridge route to 99 north. Stop in Visalia. There will be a big party there.

Jan 21, 2006 at 10:14:37 ellie (Ft. myers Fl.)
Jim, is TOm-Tom a brand or are you refering to smoke signals. Is this available at auto stores?::Thanks Wayne, we're going to do just that but we will be starting in early August. There's much to see and do on the way and after. Going cross country has been a dream for Frank for years.

Jan 22, 2006 at 08:33:29 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES, I JUST WANT TO SAY I LOVE YOU. EACH OF YOU ARE SPECIAL. I'VE LEARNED TO APPRECIATE EACH OF YOU. I WOKE THIS MORNING THINKING ABOUT THE DAYS OF SCHOOL IN CORCORAL. THE GOOD TIMES AND THE HARD TIMES. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR ALL THE HELP ENCOURAGEMENT AND FRIENDSHIP I RECEIVED ALONG THE WAY. FOR ALL OUR TEACHERS WHO SPENT THEIR TIME TRYING TO PREPARE US FOR THE FUTURE. FOR ALL THE CHURCHES WHO TRIED TO TEACH US ABOUT GOD. I WANT TO FIND A WAY TO GIVE BACK IN A WAY THAT WILL HELP AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO SEEK AND ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS. OUR GOD IS SO GOOD TO US. HE IS AWESOME BEYOND MY ABILITY TO DESCRIBE. BLESSINGS TO ALL. LOVE BRAD

Jan 22, 2006 at 11:06:49 JimG (Tulare)
Ellie . . . TomTom is a real thing (not smoke and mirrors} . . . Dave believe it or not I bought Arlene's over the internet. Dropped it in the basket and had it in our hands I think the next day or two. Ellie check it out against Magellan, but buy the top of the line in either case if you decide to get one. They have star ratings on many units. See you two in Visalia unless you turn left or right too soon before the 99. I had 3 different prices of about 995.00 down to 700.00 for the exact same unit. Took the lowest cart price and everything worked out just fine!

Jan 23, 2006 at 17:30:57 Dave (Interstate 10 between FL & CA)
Jim, There is a lot to be said about purchasing stuff on the internet. The thing I make all my dough with broke the other day. I panics, no dough equals no world famous bread. I went to google punched in Westbend bread maker. Went to their parts department, put in the model number and in less than three days I had a new belt that kneads the dough. Also, We put a computer in our guest room and to connect it to our existing network we needed a Cat 5 network cable. We knew we were in trouble because I had paid $15 for a 10 ft. cable and we needed 100 ft. Went to cables.com and got the 100 ft. cable in four days for $16 shipping included.

Dave, I see where your alma matre is about to sign a deal to play LSU in football this coming season . . . I can send you some red gear to wear to the game. I am sure the Bulldog hat would be ok to wear and the Tiger fans would not mind!

Feb 3, 2006 at 15:41:32 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Jim, Seems like there is something in my insurance policy that says I can only wear purple and/or gold hats to an LSU home game. I went to an Ol'Miss / LSU game once and every time the Ol'Miss cheerleaders came out to lead a cheer, they were bombarded with beer cans and bottles. They were pretty young girls, imagine an old man walking around in a red hat with what appeared to be a Georgia bulldog on the front. Thanks, but No Thanks!

Feb 5, 2006 at 11:49:16 JimG (Tulare)
Dave, Wayne and all the gang that played football on my metal football vibrating game table. I had to laugh on the Good Morning America show that they now have world champions with Grown Men practicing 6 hours a day to play the same game we used to play in the 50's. Sure brought back fond memories of the good old days.

Feb 5, 2006 at 12:05:11 JimG (Tulare)
Dave, what do you suppose the custom made players or teams that have been hand painted and use NFL players might sell for on the internet for those vibrating fields . . . I worked with a guy that used to be about the No. 1 soldier carver in the world and he would make whole battle field replicas of the Civil War . . . He constantly turned down these offers for thousands of dollars back when we were making maybe 2.00 or 3.00 an hour. Used to drive me nuts on turning down these offers. He said he had to be in the right mood. ::

Feb 5, 2006 at 13:01:21 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I found a Viberating football set in completed auctions on ebay. (Item No 6030217117) It had all the players, original box and still worked. Guy said the players ran around like crazy. Anyway, the page had 208 hits and 12 bids. Strange it only got $21.50. If I had an opportunity to purchase a set like this for $25.00, I would have and it would now sit in the storage room with all my other bad buys.::Toy soldiers are very collectable and bring a great deal of money.

Well, it's been a whole week since we got back from South America, and we have just about recovered from our trip. Just got an e-mail from one of the others - she just got out of the hospital after 3 days ICU and 4 days of hospital care. Blood clots in both lungs - but has now recovered. I guess we should be careful for what we wish for, it may come true. Of all the 37 on our trips, she was the most nasty and rude. We had a wonderful trip to Machu Picchu - Thanks Wayne for the encouragement and good words about the place. It is unbelievable, even though it rained a lot while we were there, fortunately at night, but unfortunately it caused a landslide that severed the railway and it was almost 6:00 pm before we got out, we were supposed to leave at 1:30 pm. Our flight from Lima to Santiago was only 4 hours late, fortunately it was a 12:00 pm flight. The last night we were in Bariloche, some guy using the sauna poured gasoline instead of water in the heating element - that caused a minor fire about 7:00 pm, we got back in our room about 11:30 pm. two other delays marred our beautiful trip, but not by much. Now we're on our way the Copper Canyon in Mexico on the 15th for two more weeks of fun in the sun, fingers crossed.

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, ALREADY IT'S AN AWESOME DAY. OUR GOD IS GOOD. I CANNOT HELP BUT BE THANKFUL FOR ALL HE DOES FOR ME. WE IN AMERICA ARE SO FORTUNATE. WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE THAN OTHER PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD INCLUDING FREEDOM. I HAVE SPENT HOURS LATELY RESEARCHING INFORMATION ON CANCER. IT DOES NOT SCARE ME ANY MORE. OUR BODY, GIVEN THE PROPER HELP, CAN HANDLE MOST ANYTHING. INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE FOR ANY QUESTION AT www.ask.com CANCER MAY BE STOPPED BY AS SIMPLE A STEP AS RAISING THE BODY ALKALINITY ABOVE 7.4 PH.(7 IS NEUTRAL). CANCER CELLS MULTIPLY IN AN ACID ENVIRONMENT. BEVERLY IS TAKING LARGE DOSES OF COQ10 TO STRENGTHEN HER IMMUNE SYSTEM AND CORAL CALCIUM TO RAISE HER PH. SINCE SHE STARTED TAKING IT, HER ENERGY LEVEL HAS IMPROVED DRANATICALLY EVEN RIGHT AFTER CHEMO. I AM NOT A DOCTER, BUT I HAVE READ ENOUGH FROM DR'S THAT I AM CONFIDENT THAT BEVERLY'S CANCER DOES NOT STAND A CHANCE. WITH ALL GOD'S BLESSINGS ON THIS AWESOME SUNDAY. LOVE BRAD

We have been advised that the cancer has spread beyond the capability of further treatment. She is now at home receiving home hospice care for her remaining days. She will be with me and family until the end. Thank you for all of your prayers but this time it was not to be. We wish you all good health and fortune. Wayne and Pat

Dearest Friends, This morning I lost my precious wife,Pat. As you know she has been fighting a long battle with cancer. She died at home, peacefully, surrounded by love. She loved all of my classmates and friends. I will miss her the rest of my life. Thank you for all of your prayers during her ordeal. Her time was at hand. My love to all of you. WC

DEAR WAYNE, I AM SO SORRY TO SEE THE NEWS. I KNOW PAT IS IN A BETTER PLACE TODAY. SHE HAS GONE ON LIFES GREATEST ADVENTURE. TO A PLACE SO GOOD THAT OUR MINDS CANNOT IMAGINE ALL THE GOOD THINGS GOD HAS IN STORE FOR US. WHEN I FIRST MENTIONED REUNION 2056 IN BAKERSFIELD, PAT RECOGNIZED IMMEDIATELY WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT. HER REACTION WAS, "YOU'RE ON". WAYNE, WE WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU AND IF THERE IS ANY WAY WE CAN HELP, JUST LET US KNOW, LOVE BRAD

Feb 24, 2006 at 21:21:34 Dave (Baton Rouge)
In the midst of all the sadness the class feels, today I received a book that we purchased on eBay, with a heads-up from Julia, from a man in Maine. The book is titled El Espejo and as bad as it sounds it translated to The Mirror. The book is from 1915 and is, I think, the first Corcoran Union High School Annual. I have placed two images off the forum page and will be adding to it until I have all 50 pages on the site. The High school played it first football game in 1915. Hanford 9, Corcoran 2, Also, the Graduating Class had 4 members. All were class officers! There were 6 members of the basketball team. The baseball team only had 7.

Feb 25, 2006 at 14:58:55 Dave (Baton Rouge)
More about the 1915 annual. I did some more reading and found: "After our only game of football, it was decided it was best to give up hopes of developing a football team on the account of our lack of material to pick from, and turned our attention to making a good basketball team."::Our first basketball game was with Lemoore and the game was won by them. The second was Hanford with the same results. The third however was with Coalinga, they failed to make an appearance and forfeited the game in our favor. This ended the basketball season.::Also, I found that this is the second year for the high school: "Our alumni are no longer three; now there are seven. As the years roll by we shall multiply into hundreds........"

Wayne: We are all so saddened by the loss of Pat. She will be remembered by all. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

The following was sent to all class members that have email: Bradley and Jacqueline are working on the 50th reunion that will be held at the Visalia Airport, Holiday Inn in September of this year. They need to make an estimate of the number of people attending the reunion and different function to determine the costs. The plans are at this time:::Thursday 9/21/06: Free buffet dinner. ( Those who don't live in California, Dinner means Supper.) Friday 9/22/06: Bus ride to Corcoran. $14-$15 / person, Tailgate party at Frank Avitia's, Corcoran football game and maybe tour of the high school. Saturday 9/23/06: Banquet is in the evening. and yes there will be golf. Sunday 9/24/06: If you didn't get a rose, say goodbye to your classmates. A packet will be mailed out about the first of April with the details of the reunion. OK!! Here is What this Email is About !!! Important !!! Please contact us if you plan to attend. If you plan to attend let us know what functions you plan to go to. You can answer this email or go to the class site and write in the forum or contact Jacque or Brad. Normally the $15 dues are due in the fall, but to help defer some of the reunion cost. It would help if you mailed them to Vera this summer, if possible.::

Mar 3, 2006 at 09:35:57 ellie & frank (Ft. Myers,Fl.)
Yes, we are attending. Yes,we will attend all functions..Yes, we will forward all funds.I need a little help from someone who lives in the vicinity of our reunion. We need a campsite close by for the motorhome. I called the hotel and the clerk said we could dry camp in the back parking lot of the hotel which is great but we would still need the use of a campsite as well. we're 37 ft. and a tow car. This is,of course, if all goes as planned, and this go West young man venture works out. We're planning for 2 monthes of traveling, so we could be there sooner, starting out in August. But we'll be stopping along the way. Modern day version of a wagon train.

Mar 3, 2006 at 12:35:34 BarbaraG (Ventura)
At this point, I plan to attend everything except the golf. I'm sure that I cannot be the only non-golfer in the class. Will try to get my dues to Vera ASAP. Really looking forward to this reunion. Dave, I think I have my dad's graduating class photo somewhere. Don't know if you want it or not (class of '33). I'll see if I can find any old CUHS photos to send.

Mar 7, 2006 at 19:46:20 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
Barbara G. Weaver.....did you get my email in regards to your volunteering to help @ the reunion? REMEMBER I HAVE A NEW email address. At first it looks like the old one but it isn't. Hello to everyone else.....we are expecting rain, and possibly snow this weekend...I'm helping John stack wood and tie down the top on his boats...we'd be money ahead if he'd sell them the wind tears the tops every other storm. If they put the preserve into effect they won't be worth a thing anyways....no fishing below Monterey and above Santa Barbara. I don't mind true conservation but this is rediculous! After John's class meeting about their reunion, I am feeling pretty darn good about ours....look for details soon.

Dear Wayne, Charlie and I had not checked the website for some time and just found out about the loss of your wife, Pat. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with you and yours, may God give you comfort during these difficult times.

If this keeps up the state is going to have to change it's greeting to Welcome to Snowy California!

Dear Wayne, Another belated statement of Sorrow at the news of Pat losing her struggle.::::Dear Jacque, Snow? what's that. We didn't have much this winter. Not much rain either. Last night the temp was 53 degrees, over our normal high of 50 deg. It got up to 64 degrees today, tomorrow supposed to be over 70. Its been raining since saturday morning, more on the way. Wed the high is supposed to be 38 with a low of 29, rain changing to snow!!! Can't wait til Spring arrives. Oh Yeah, thunder storms are passing by also, maybe a tornado early tomorrow morning. What did you say your weather was like? We are getting a whole winter/spring/summer/fall in one week! One thing is for sure, if you don't like the weather, just wait, it will be different tomorrow, or in 15 minutes.

I want to thank all of my classmates and friends for all of the prayers offered for Pat during her year long struggle. She knew of the support and love that was offered for her. I just returned from Minnesota where the second funeral was held for all of her family to attend. It was a truly moving tribute and acknowledgement by her family for the life she lived. Pat also helped to plan the service which made it so special.Father Bob Miller, Pat's cousin who married us in 1980 conducted both services. 200 family members were present, her brothers and sisters served in the mass, her grandnieces and grandnephews sang as a childrens' chorus, 3 nieces read eulogies, and a powerpoint show of Pat's life was shown at the dinner afterward. It was emotionally draining for me to do two services but it was a promise to Pat I had to keep. I take strength knowing that this is part of life and I see others who suffered losses and still can go on. I promised Pat I would continue the journey. Love to you all WC

Donna Rae Jones from Arizona called me this morning to ask me to let you all know that Derek Rea passed away December 1, 2005. Derek missed our reunion in 04 because he was hospitalized from early May of 04 thru November. She said after he got out of the hospital he regained his strength and bought a 3 wheel skooter with a basket and tooled all over Alemeda. She said he felt better and was happier than he had been in the previous 5 years. He was able to get out and visit friends as well as do his own shopping and see things and she felt the last year was a good year for Derek. She said that he told her he felt he had a large hole in his life until we asked him to be a part of the Corcoran class and that he cherished the memories of Reno and his contact with the class on this forum and by private email. Derek suffered from severe psoriasis and a form of arthritis. When he was in the hospital in 04 the doctors told him he had cardiomyopathy as well. If you would like his sister's address email me & I'll send it.

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, I HOPE THIS DAY FINDS YOU WELL AND HAPPY. FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAY, BEVERLY AND I GOT MARRIED IN ST. GEORGE, UTAH. TOM AND SHIRLEY DUNEHEW USED OUR MAP TO FIND THE SAME SPOT A FEW WEEKS LATER. TOM AND SHIRLEY PASSED THE MAP ON TO ANOTHER COUPLE WHOSE NAMES I CANNOT RECALL. I BELIEVE ALL THREE COUPLES ARE STILL MARRIED TODAY. BEVERLY GOES IN TODAY FOR CHEMO # 5 OF 8. THE DR. SAYS THIS NEXT FOUR WILL NOT BE AS HARSH AS THE FIRST 4. WE ARE HOPEFUL. ANYWAY, KEEP LOOKING UP. OUR GOD IS GOOD. LOVE BRAD

Ellie . . . I have a newspaper article about Three Rivers area and on up into the Giant Sequoia Trees . . . It also has an RV Park that sounds good. It is a about 30 miles or so from Visalia, but with your pull vehicle you may be interested. The other RV park with any scenery is on the Kings River at Kingsburg, also about 20 miles away. You could always park RV at 3Rivers and stay a night or two at the Holiday Inn. But after reunion you and Frank might take in the Sequoia and Kings Canyon Parks. If you would like I can mail you this article.::::

Jim, thanks alot for the info. Yes, we'd be pleased to have the article. Can you scan it my way?

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, HOPE EVERY ONE IS DOING WELL. DAVE THE 1915 PICTURES ARE GREAT. I AM SUPPRISED AT HOW FEW NAMES I RECOGNIZE IN 40 YEARS OF CHANGE. PROBABLY NO MORE THAN HAS TAKEN PLACE IN THE LAST 50. BLESSINGS TO ALL, LOVE BRAD

Mar 31, 2006 at 14:04:59 Dave
Thanks Brad, My biggest surprise with the 1915 book was the advertisers. Corcoran Lumber Co., Corcoran Drug Store, Corcoran Steam Laundry, The Corcoran Journal, Cutter Bros. Warehouse, F.G. Cross Hardware, Corcoran Department Store (I don't remember this store, but the names E. O. Hansen and J. W. Guiberson make me think this was the start of the Corcoran Implement.), Lakeview Creamery (Jacque should remember this name.) also there is an ad for Clarence Wilson. I worked a few years for his son Don Wilson. E. O. Hanson and J. W. Guiberson owned the railroad that today is just a siding that leaves the Santa Fe main line at Hanson's stock yard. It use to run 3 miles to the Guiberson Ranch on Orange Ave. Guiberson was the president of the bank and also gave the $45,000 to build the high school. Surely all you all remember the scent the Hanson Stock yards.

Mar 31, 2006 at 17:08:59 BRAD (VISALIA)
HI DAVE, THE NAMES YOU MENTIONED, I DO REMEMBER, BUT THERE WERE SO MANY I DID NOT. THE CORCORAN DEPARTMENT STORE, WAS THAT THE MERCANTILE STORE? OR, WAS THAT A STORE THAT WAS NEXT TO PENNEY'S.... FUN TO REMINISCE. BRAD

Apr 1, 2006 at 08:44:17 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. I WOKE UP THIS MORNING WITH THESE THOUGHTS. I HOPE YOU WILL ALLOW ME TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU. WE ARE HEADING TOWARD LIFE'S GREATEST ADVENTURE. IT IS JUST A DIMENSION AWAY WHERE WE PASS FROM THIS LIFE INTO ETERNITY. OUR MINDS CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT IS IN STORE FOR US WHETHER IT BE GOOD OR BAD. IN EITHER CASE, IT WILL BE BEYOND ANYTHING POSSIBLE FOR US TO KNOW ABOUT. THIS LIFE IS JUST A JOURNEY TO THAT DESTINATION. THE ONLY THING WE CAN TAKE WITH US IS THE TREASURES GOD HAS STORED FOR US WHICH INVOLVES OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. MY GOAL FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS LIFE IS TO IMPROVE ON THAT RELATIONSHIP THROUGH THE INSTRUCTIONS AS DESCRIBED IN THE BIBLE. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO REUNION 2056 AND MEETING WITH ALL OF YOU. MY PRAYER IS THAT OUR CONSERVATION WITH GOD TODAY WILL FULFILL ALL OUR NEEDS AS WE GET CLOSER AND CLOSER TO OUR FACE TO FACE MEETING WITH HIM. LOVE BRAD

Apr 9, 2006 at 13:11:19 Ellie&Frank (Fla.)
Thank you Jim and Arlene for the literature. Frank studied it and thanks you too. It's amazing what can turn a person. I've been saying all along"We've got to see Sequoia etc." I was getting the "Sure sure" routine. But with actual pictures and map and brouchure It's " We're going there".The facts, men have to see facts. Great stuff planning this trip.::Easter is on the horizon and we're having a big family dinner here at the house. First time I've ever had so many relatives. It'll be a bbq as well as everything else. Franks daughter and granddaughter, Son Tom Sr. and Jr. with bride and friends and my Peder and his Linda. I'm loving it! Such a difference when you marry a big family. We even got Easter stuff for the grandchild. I love coloring eggs. And we'll even have a hunt. Can't wait!! Love to all. Ellie

Apr 9, 2006 at 16:36:18 Charlie & Becky (Escalon, CA)
Hello to all.....Charlie and I are looking forward to the reunion in Sept. We were wondering if the packets have been sent out yet. This is going to be our first big event this year because I was diagnosed with lymphoma and have been on chemo since the first part of the year and we have had our lives basically on hold since this all began. Thank God I'm doing really well and I'm now on the 2nd half of my treatments. The reunion is our "getting back to normal" point and God willing all will be well from that time on. We had been traveling cross-country in our RV and had to put that on hold, but if all goes well we hope to be on the road again by Oct. Looking forward to seeing everyone this fall and having a great time.

Apr 10, 2006 at 06:07:09 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES. DAVE, BEVERLY WANTS ONE OF THOSE CARS IN A 4-DOOR SEDAN. BECKY, WE WILL ADD YOU TO OUR PRAYER LIST. YOU ARE ON ALMOST THE SAME SCHEDULE AS BEVERLY. SHE WILL BE TAKING HER 6TH CHEMO TREATMENT THURSDAY AND THEN, JUST TWO TO GO. THE REUNION LETTERS ARE NOT OUT YET, BUT WILL BE IN A FEW WEEKS. JUST KEEP THAT SEPT. 22 WEEKEND OPEN. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE THERE. BLESSINGS, BRAD

Apr 10, 2006 at 18:04:18 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . I also think Arlene would want one of those cars, but I'm not sure after folding it down that it will fit in her purse! It is maxed out; or she already has one in there as heavy as it is!!!!!!!!::::

Apr 14, 2006 at 15:05:18 David Gilbert (Baton Rouge, LA.)
Brad and Jim, I think the perfect car should fit on your key ring. If you lost your keys, there would be no need to look for them; since you lost your car and don't need the keys. Understand? At this time of year we have Caterpillars everywhere. I'm not talking about tractors. These have lots of legs. I have a bucket with 3 inches of salt water in it. When I see a caterpillar, I toss it in. I've empty it twice in the last three days. California is stealing all of our rain. I had to water the lawn for the first time this year. They should have to pay for all the free water they are getting. We are having a lot of warm damp air flying overhead on it way to make a tornado somewhere in the north, but no rain here. Brad, I'm guessing about the Corcoran Implement and don't know who to ask. Oh Well, Billy how's the weather?

Apr 16, 2006 at 21:11:21 BillyC (In/Oh)
Hi Dave, The weather is fine now. A week and a half ago we were in Winter weather, then we had Spring for a day, then went to Summer. Yesterday in the 80's, now in the 70's. Maybe Winter is gone for good - MAYBE not for sure. We have beeh having lots of hail and thunderstorms at night with lots of thunder and lightening. Typical weather. NOt too rainy like California. Serves them right for all the good weather they normally have.

Apr 17, 2006 at 16:29:33 Patty (Chanute, Ks)
Dave & Rosemary, Your Easter Bunny Picture was adorable and who he was holding was even "SWEETER". Happy Late Easter!! Patty & Darold

Apr 17, 2006 at 18:16:05 David and Rosemary (Baton Rouge)
Hi Patty, The Easter card is 10 years old picture of Lindsey and Ryan Gilbert. Our granddaughter Lindsey is at a trying time in her young life. Her mother came home with her new brother and suddenly she was not the center of attention. We think of this as her " Happy Easter! ".

Apr 18, 2006 at 19:18:10 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I had planned to delete the picture of Lindsey and Ryan with the Easter rabbit a few days after the holiday, but I decided to replace it with a newer picture of Lindsey for a few days.

Apr 23, 2006 at 18:43:22 Jacque Polzin (San Luis Obispo)
I have just sent Brad the final draft on the Reunion packet as soon as he reviews andd replies I will be printing and mailing them. We have a fun packed 3 days planned. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

I have a request, I would like everyone to look at the missing list. I could use help and these are some of the things you could help me with 1. middle name or initial if there is none listed. 2. a valid address within the las 15 to 20 years. 3. A classmate who might still be friends with the person or know a relative. 4 If it's a woman, the husbands first name, or if she has been married more than once, one of her husbands first and last name. I called Ferman Espinosa to get Frank Avitia's phone number. I asked if he knew where Peter Rojas was, he said no but Manual Aguilar was friends with him and might know, called Manual and he said he thought Peter was in Las Vegas and that his whole name was Peter or Pedro Vargas Rojas. Looked him up and he was listed, called him and it was CUHS's Peter Rojas. so put your thinking caps on and if you have any clues send me an email the sooner the better. and PLEASE someone else write on these pages...2 in a row from me is not good.

Apr 30, 2006 at 19:24:45 ellie & frank (no.ft. myers, fl.)
This is for Jacque. Please let me know what your e-mail address is. Seems Ive fallen behind on the latest. And David; howcome I have to have security clearance to get to addresses etc.? What's that all about? Thank you. And we're looking forward to California!

May 1, 2006 at 01:02:34 Jacque
Ellie, just sent you my address and the password (I had to write it down in my book to remember it).

May 2, 2006 at 20:47:35 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
Hey Guys how about some comments on the ole' page? Billy C. are you on another trip?? I sent off one batch of packets for the reunion today and will send the rest tomorrow morning. In an attempt to locate a few more classmates I discovered some sad news (again!) Betty Carolyn Fuller Golston of Tucson AZ passed away on 7/16/05...it's official I saw the SS death certificate on their site. But I got a valid address for John Hernandez Caudillo in Bakersfield! I'm looking forward to seeing comments about the reunion plans on this page.

May 3, 2006 at 05:53:48 Dave (Louisiana)
We have added the details for our 50th Reunion in Visalia to the site. Links are Events, 2006, Details. or just click HERE. Hope to see all you all there in September. WOW !!!! Fifty Years !!!!! Who would have thought. ::

May 3, 2006 at 13:37:54 JimG (Tulare)
Wow . . . Sid Grant & myself have talked about John Caudillo many times about any fly ball hit to centerfield it was an automatic out on our Little League team called the Dodgers. I believe Corcoran had the 1st Little League in the area. Hope to see John at the reunion. We also have a picture on the website of the team!::

May 4, 2006 at 01:01:16 Julia (San Francisco)
Jacque and Dave -- The plans for the reunion and the page look great! Nice job!

May 4, 2006 at 11:01:49 Dave (BR, LA)
Julia, Thank you for your kind words, but I'm afraid my involvement in this endeavor is minimal. Jacque has earned the credit for putting together and mailing the 50th Reunion Packet.

May 4, 2006 at 16:41:55 Ellie (Fl.)
Wonderful! I'm impressed. Can't wait. Frank is so excited! Full of great things to do. Hope I don't have to sell Goobers at the ball game. Get my duties together. We're, God willing, arriving early, at least 3 or 4 days. Leaving this Saturday for Key West and we'll be gone 1 month. But I now have a laptop wireless that I know nothing about but I'll learn. David, are you there? I still have the same address for awhile. Also, it came with that new fangled camera. And I was doing so well with the disposable ones. Everyone should join in on this celebration; it'll be a whopper. ::::::::::

May 4, 2006 at 22:51:07 wcrow (palm desert)
Hello classmates and friends. I am still here trying to do positive actions each day and move ahead with the life that Pat told me to lead. I will get to it but this is very hard. Tomorrow I will do one of my yearly activities and go watch a parade in honor of my birthday Cinco de Mayo. AS you know the whole country now celebrates for me. I will definitely see all of you in Sept and then be off to Cambodia and Thailand for 3 weeks. It is heating up here in the desert so I am thinking of the move to Donner about June 15. I will nest there untill end of October then return to the desert and make plans to sell this house next spring. There are too many bad memories to stay here longer. Donner has 27 years of great memories so I will roost there for however many more years I have left. Thanks Brad, Jacque and Dave for getting the site ready for us to sign up. I will do it right away.

May 5, 2006 at 10:24:14 JimG (Tulare)
I just looked up the Menlo College Athletic website to check on Sid & Betty's grandson's game and "Wow what a way to finish a college baseball career . . . 3 for 3, Grand Slam home run, 6 RBI's" . . . can't get any better than that! Congratulations! The best thing about it is that you guys were there to watch it. And for extras he also homered in the 1st game of the double header. It must have been because you guys were in the stands rooting on the team!::

May 6, 2006 at 19:52:25 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
For the record Barbara Goodrich Weaver is the first person to returned her completed RSVP Form for the Class reunion in September. She emailed me that she had made reservations for the hotel as well. Anyone having difficulty with the blocked rate of $75 per night for the Holiday Inn should let me know, I will contact the Sales Manager in Visalia and make sure the rate is honored. I mailed out the last of the packets this afternoon, my thumb is sore from folding and pressing the material...my helper disappeared after the 41st one was done. (Sent out 97) Now the wait begins to see how many are returned because the address is bad. Looking forward to September! My Fresno class is the week before and John's is the week after our in Visalia.

There are 4 reservations made for the Holiday Inn todate.. Weaver, Thomson, Wedekind, and Gilton. Reservations and Sales had a turnover this past week which lead to the mixup. I have been assured that all will be in place by 12pm 5/9/06. Anyone having trouble should notify me immediately. We have been assured addditional block rooms if we exceed the amount we reserved as long as we make reservations prior to August 10, 2006.

Hi everyone. Yes, We are off on another trip, this time to Russia, Belarus, Lithusnis, Estonia, and Latvia starting off in Helsinki Finland. This is all the Dl's fault, she's the one that set this stuff up. I've been here is Indiana for a while and have not received my package, I'll be going back tomorrow morning. We are leaving on our trip on 5/19, so I will send my check off before we leave. Anyway, the DL got her settlement for the accident she had several years ago, so we are hurting for green stuff. The DL may not make it to the reunion again. Our oldest son is getting married on 9/30 in Boston, he scheduled so it wouldn't interfere with the reunion. The girl is from Walnut, CA, but is working in Boston. She grew up a mile away from David's cousins in ::California, and her younger sister went to high school with two of the cousins. At least she is almost as tall as he is, he is 6'1"(from the DL side of the family) and she is almost 6' tall. Neither has been married before, even if she is 34 and he is 33. Oh well, they waited long enough. We will say more after we come back from our trip.

May 13, 2006 at 14:01:00 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I've added Jack Strong's name to our class list today. He lives in Montana and will try to make the reunion.

May 13, 2006 at 22:22:47 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
David, Add Shirley Jean Henry Williams to the list, the information was correct!

May 16, 2006 at 10:26:25 Billy R. Brown (Kansas City, MO)
I am sorry to inform everyone that Bill Brown passed away October 17th, 2005. He was diagnosed with pulmomary fibrosis six months earlier and fortunatley didn't have to suffer very long. Bill was at peace and looking forward to meeting up again with his loving wife who passed away six years earlier. Bill was retired for 7 years from Bayer Corporation where he worked for 38 years. He raised 4 children and was able to get all four graduated from college. This was a very important thing to him. He truly loved playing golf and spending time with his children and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and everyone loved to be around him. We miss him dearly.::::Have a wonderful time at your renuion and make a birdie for him at your golf outing while enjoying a drink and the company of your classmates.::::Michael Brown::Loving Son

Hi Folks! Roughing it in the sunshine state, in The Keys for a month. Frank's lovely son Tom gave us a wireless laptop with camera so I have a whole lot more button pushing to learn, but I'm getting it gradually with help from mentor Dave G.,making it easier for me.::We're having a wonderful time being close to the southern most part of the country. We'll be missing Fl., but we are looking forward to the Calif trip. It's a dream come true for my Frank. He purchased ticket for me to fly to Visalia so he wouldn't have to eat my home cooking on the way across country! Just joking! Ha-ha. Seriously, he's dragging me along just to do repairs and housework and R.V.hookups. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::d

Hi everyone, David has sent me a few more classmate addresses that he's found so we can add Shirley Jean Henry Williams, James Thierry, Jack/John Strong, Glenda Fay Chipman Howe,Ron Blevins, and Cecil Ramsey to the "found" list. I have sent out packets to each for the reunion. Cecil Ramsey's sister lives in Corcoran and knows our Carl Grigsby....small world. Ann Parraz Silva's packet came back yesterday and David sends me her new address before I had a chance to tell him. Thanks to Carolyn Pierce. Charlie Toledo's packet came back I think they changed their address when they started to travel...see April 2 comments. I've called their son's company in Oakdale and hopefully will get a new address. Remember 4 month's from today will be the Saturday night banquet and our reunion will almost be over....

The information we have been using to locate our new members comes from a man, Pat Gilley, who lives in Johnson City, TN. He takes care of his High School internet site that is in Ohio and has lots of experience in finding people by using the internet. I want to thank Pat for all of his help. Plus he has given a number of hints on other members.

We have sadly confirmed that Paul Mendoza passed away in Hanford in 1998. ______________ Now I need some help finding Joan Griffeath. I know she moved to Earimart in 1950 and her folks were still there in 1965. Her mom was active in a lot of our school functions and her dad owned a machine / welding shop on the SW corner of Bainum and Estes. I need to know her mom and/or dad first name or any information. Dave DHGilb at cox.net

May 25, 2006 at 11:19:05 Barbara W (Ventura)
Joan's parents' names were Floyd and Erma (not sure if it was Erma or Irma). My mom used to keep in touch with her. I'm looking forward to September and seeing all of you again.

Hello everyone! I went down to Avila to do my usual laps & pool exercise, 2 bus loads of KIDS were in the pool. It looked just like a school of fish on a rampage for bait "boiling" in the water. I could have stood in a place & battled for a little more but laps were out, not enough space to even jog or bicycle in place. I've decided that people now days "schedule" too many events for their children & send them off with chaperones instead of letting them stay home & climb a tree or ride their bike around the neighborhood. I know with so many more people in the world including kooks parents feel safer enrolling their children in organized activities but think back to our childhood & realize we really had the best! I remember @ 9yrs sneaking off to the dump with Bobby Staley on our bikes, & "treasure" hunting, came home with army helmets & old telephones. My Mom didn't know where I was but didn't worry, Now days most Mom's would be calling 911. I'm off to decorate the family plot! I don't know how I ended up the Assigned member of John's family but I am, sure hope someone remembers me in 30 years! HOPE TO HEAR FROM ALL OF YOU SOON ABOUT THE REUNION.

Cat got your tongue? Can't nobody talk? Anyway, I had a number of books on Iran. Since there has been a lot of interest about Iran lately, I put them on eBay. They were purchased by a guy with a PO Box in Washington, DC. So ... If you don't hear from me for a while, it's because I'm visiting Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

IT,S BEEN GOOD KNOWING YOU DAVE. SOUNDS AWFULLY SERIOUS WITH ALL THIS HOMELAND SECURITY AND ALL. WE'LL SURE MISS YOU AT THE REUNION. LOVE BRAD

Konrad just celebrated his 80th birthday with a big party and visitors from near and far. Much fun. Getting in tune for the reunion!

David, you're not going there are you? And what for, may I ask? We sent our reunion sheet and check to Jacque so we're just about there. Plans changed and we're not going via motorhome. We're flying in instead. It just was too hard a trip for us and the gas is prohibitive. So glad Frank changed his mind. We have plenty of Florida to discover and surrounding states.::My laptop has been in the shop getting cleaned out and set up Ellie friendly. 10 days no computer cause the old one is dormant now. Same e-mail address. Made res. at holiday Inn. ::Driving in from Fresno to Visalia with car. So I think I've covered everything. In the meantime, it's 93 today and we have reached the summertime pattern of afternoon downpour and hi humidity. Congratulations to Konrad!! Beautifully done. Frank is just a notch younger but who's counting ::Hopefully we're off to Lauderdale Beach for July 4. A beach to my Frank is like Valhalla. Salt water, a cure-all for. anything. Helps his arthritis. Regards to all.

Jun 15, 2006 at 17:53:18 Dave (BR, LA)
They don't want me there Ellie. Rejected because of age. Wonder what it would cost to fly the motorhome to Fresno. Way to go Konrad. Do you remember when someone ask your age, you added a few years? Love you all even Brad and JimGt, Dave...... Ellie, now I'm gonna click sign guestbook then delete the blue page that comes up. I know that every time I come back to the blue page it is placed in the forum again.

Hi good friends. I know I have been silent for a long time but I think you understand. Life without Pat is hard for me but I know that is how it is so I am trying to move along. I had another spot of squamos cell cancer taken off the old pate yesterday. I will soon look like a map of the moon. I am cleared to go to Donner and I will leave on Sunday when it is going up to 108.I will stay there until end of Oct then return here for the winter and sell this house next spring. That is the thoughts for now. Might change. Who can say. I know we will have a great time at the 50th. Our group could have fun on a greyhound bus going to nowhere. I will check in again when I am settled at Donner. Stay well all of you. Take that walk together.wc

Jun 16, 2006 at 12:19:59 Ellie (Fla)
I don't know how that message got to the chat cause I couldn't find the blue page. See, I need help still. Now there's an idea, a flying motor home. Maybe some day. Wayne,I well know what you're going thru. It's truly a process. A good female friend of mine is also dealing with this too so I remember it well, twice myself. Keep busy and look after your health cause there's a great part of life out there and I'd like you to be ready when they come along. The opportunities are there for you. Don't forget, you're not alone. See you at the Big Event. It's party time!!!!!

I got a new toy the other day. It's called Skype. I can call any phone number in the USA or Canada for free or in the world for 2 cent a minute. There is no invoice or billing. You purchase credit on line before making a call that will have a charge. Free download of the program. Purchased a set of headphones and mike for $15. You call over the internet and the sound is unbelievable. Our handle is "rosemary.gilbert". Our daughter and son-in-law are here now and we set it up so we could talk back and forth. You talk for free any where if you don't use a phone line. They have to know you are calling, but you set that up via email. Tried it out by calling my sister. She wasn't home, but I did talk to her answering machine. Exciding. Let me know if any of you are on Skype. Dave

Well, we made it back from Russia and the Baltic States in one piece. St Petersburg was really nice, Moscow too. Most of our time was in those two places. But I really liked::Tallin in Estonia best of all. We paid $61 a piece for visas for Belarus, and all we did in Minsk spend the night in a hotel and have a dinner there. Hey Dave, I am now Skype'd, "muffinman6929" is my handle, it only took 49 min to download the software on my dialup account. A ot less to get it up and running. It would be interesting if all of the people who write in the Guestbook got Skyped and we all got to get to get online to talk.

Man I thought it was hot in Tulare, but wow I was in Palm Springs last weekend and now it feels pretty mild here. It was close to 115 degrees. Now I know why Wayne was trying to play like a Chinese sheepherder and "get the flock out of there!" The pools were bubbling they were so hot! I bet he was at Donner sitting back drinking in the cool air and laughing at me for being down there! That town is nocternal . . . when the sun goes down and it gets dark everyone comes out to play!::::::

Yeah! I got here on Sat eve and wow what a difference. Today it was about 78 and when I get up it will be 45. To cold to walk so I can wait until the afternoon for a good 3 mile walk. The house I built in 1977 is still withstanding the harsh winters and it is in good shape. Jim, you now are a believer about the day in the desert. That air is hard to breathe at 115. Pat and I had 25 great years here in this place so it is easier to move on here. The bad memories will stay back in the desert. When I get settled I will attack the trails and the trout. The trout have been safe from me lately. David what is that window that just opened up and a cat was yowling at me??? I see the black cat in the screen and running. Well bye for now . Take care good friends

Hi Wayne, good to see you out of the desert. I had a flat tire the year we met in Monterrey on the I-10 climb out of the there toward Phoenix. I got it changed, got back in the truck when everything turned red. RO put a cold wet rag on the back of my neck and the colors returned, but I had a headache all the way to Tucson. That was the last time we even talked about driving out there. The cat approaches the gold fish to the music of Jaws, sticks his head in the bowl, The fish says "Woof Woof" and the cat takes off while the fish growls. The sign comes up and says "Learn Another Language". Sorry the screen is so small. Rosemary has passed another scan, but the Drs have decided to wait 6 months to do the corrective surgery that would allow us to be in Visalia. So.. we'll see you all the next time around.

Jun 22, 2006 at 08:57:07 Ellie (Fla.)
Since we're doing a medical report, I'd like to add that Franko had his knee drained and shot with cortisone yesterday. Patient survived, wife felt great relief. Great to hear everyone on the upswing. Billy brush up on your Russian, Ellie's coming to town.

Jun 22, 2006 at 14:20:10 BRAD (VISALIA)
HELLO FRIENDS, UNFORTUNATELY, IT ALL GOES WITH THE TERRITORY. GLAD FRANKO AND WIFE ARE DOING WELL. THANKFUL FOR GOOD HEALTH. BLESSINGS TO ALL. LOVE BRAD

Jun 27, 2006 at 00:25:19 Jacque (San Luis Obispo (Thank God!))
Just arrived home from 5 Days in the SJ Valley! Wayne I think you dropped the desert off on your way to the cool mountains. It was foggy in SLO every morning I was gone and just kept getting HOTTER in the valley. I am happy the reunion is scheduled for the last part of September instead of now, but I can report after stopping there today that the Holiday Inn in Visalia has a great air conditioning system .... just in case! In the old days we didn't have Air in the cars, no tinted windows, maybe a swampcooler, if it worked right, How did we get by? Ellie sorry about Frank, hope the treatment helped/cured the problem. David and Rosemary....how are we going to hold a reunion with out you two?? Tomorrow is a Big day.......my usual tuesday with my 2yr old Grdaughter Cassidy and my birthday too...what more could I wish for. Hope to hear from you all soon, September is near.

Jun 27, 2006 at 09:11:11 ellie (Fla)
Firstly, wishing Jacque a very Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!! What's this, no David & Ro?? Are we supposed to bring an outfit of the 50's or do I have the wrong reunion? My question of the day is "how do you get a man out of the garden and to the dinner table? I tried the dinner bell and now it's a cowbell.

Jun 28, 2006 at 16:47:42 Dave (BR, LA)
How come there are 8 buns in a package and 10 wieners? Do 2 wieners have to go through life with no bun? I was just at the grocery store and solved the problem by purchasing 5 packages of buns and 4 packages of winners. Problem is I only wanted to make two hotdogs. Also, I purchased 2% milk and asked the cashier what the other 98% was. She wanted to know if I had some sort of problem! If you wonder about this kind of stuff read "Why?". Access is from the Forum page. Also, I added a column to our addresses page for "Skype" handles. So far we have BillyC, Julie and myself talking computer to phone or computer to computer all for free USA and Canada on the internet. One cent / minute for international.

With the price of gas increasing, Volkswagen has a new model coming on the market. It's called the 16.4 Veyron and comes out under Volkswagen's Bugatti name. It has a 28.42 gal gas tank and at top speed will run out of fuel in 12 minutes !!! Top speed is 250 mph... so in 12 minutes you would be 50 miles down the road. That's 1.8 miles/gal. The 16.4 stands for 16 cylinders and 4 turbo chargers. It will go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.1 sec. The motor is rated at 1,001 HP. Car cost?? $1,300,000. Nice economy car for two. You have to get in line, they only plan to make 50 a year. So far 30 orders have been placed with 9 delivered to the USA.

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, DAVE, WHEN I GOT HOME YESTERDAY, BEVERLY ASKED IF I KNEW THAT YOU AND ROSEMARY WERE NOT GOING TO BE AT THE REUNION. I, APPARENTLY MISSREAD YOUR COMMENTS ON JUNE 21ST COMMENTING ON ROSEMARY'S CORRECTIVE SURGERY. I THOUGHT SINCE THE SURGERY WAS GOING TO BE IN 6 MO. THAT YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO ATTEND. I CHECKED TO LIST THIS MORNING TO SEE IF YOUR NAMES WERE THERE AND FOUND THEY WERE NOT. THAT MAKES ME VERY SAD. I HOPE AND THAT THINGS WILL CHANGE SO YOU CAN BE THERE. LOVE AND PRAYERS, BRAD

David, this Skype thing is puzzling. I don't see an icon onmy dashboard and other Things. I'm getting something named Jake thru Skype. Do you know this? Anyone else on this?

Jul 8, 2006 at 10:11:21 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hi Ellie, I did a search for Jake on skype and came up with nothing. You should have an icon for everyone you have contacted. Go to history on your skype page and click on the person or phone number you want on your contact list then click on "add contact" then write in the information you want, and click add to contact list.

Hello good friends, well I have been here at Donner Lake for 3 weeks now and I am starting to get caught up with the maintenance that is required for the heavy winters up here. My place seems to do well. I just finished washing and staining the 2 decks. I do it every other year. I have done 3 good hikes on the rim trail so far. The trail is 26 miles and I will do all of it this summer but in small segments of about 5 miles each. I am working with the Truckee Donner Land Trust to select a site for a permanent memorial marker for Pat on the rim trail. Family and friends donated money instead of flowers at her funeral and I have added enough to make it $5K for the marker. Pat knew of these plans and she was touched by the thought of having her name on the trail where she hiked many miles over the years. There just can't be a better place to spend summer and fall than here in the Sierras. 80 in the day and 45 at night. Dave and RO I will miss you at the 50 th but don't be surprised if I come driving by your house before the next get together. I feel the need to go see the rest of this great country before they take my licence away. I wish you all good health and safe travels. Take that walk together, eat out more, see good movies, cuddle up. Don't wait for the good things of life. Carpe Diem.....wc

Dave . . . In reference to "Your Story and Sticking to It" . . . My story and sticking to it is, "I am not overweight, I am just too short for my weight"! Maybe it is a Yogi Berra story!

Dave: Interesting order of the student graduates, but even more interesting, unless I'd missed it ---WHERE is YOUR NAME? ::::Sorry to hear that you and R.O. will not be attending the 50th. I was really looking forward to seeing all the old group. And several other disappointments--Bill Rose, Derick, Pat Crow and Verdell. It was a real disappointment to note how many of the "kids" that I had played with then had passed on. But we are of that age now, "so be it".::::Have really enjoyed your kids adventures on the boat travels. :: Hope the Skyped system doesn't totally reduce this site to a few bones. Best wishes--stay well. HS

Jul 24, 2006 at 16:49:24 David (Baton Rouge)
Good to see some activity on this thing. Henry...We wish we were going to the reunion. It should be a great one. Hate to miss it. RO wants me to go alone, but I can't imagine leaving her here alone. I never got around to getting a HS diploma except the one Dorothy McDonald gave me at the San Francisco reunion. Never could make heads or tails out of the order of the names on the commencement program. I did notice it was the 42nd annual. That wound mean the first Corcoran High School graduation was 1914. JimGt....Keep up the good work. Wayne..we'll leave a light on for ya.

I have been checking the comments every day to see how long it would be before someone would start talking about the reunion. Thanks Betty for getting this all started. I will be there, w/o the DL, she is having problems getting someone to watch the motel while we are in Boston on the 29 and 30 of September for our eldest son's wedding on 30 Sep, as it is, much less for the reunion. I am planning on being there a couple of days early so I can visit my bother and sister down near LA and I have a cousin I haven't seen since High School living near Visalia too. I hope to see her on the Saturday of the reunion. I will be happy to see everyone else there at the reunion.

Aug 12, 2006 at 00:23:13 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
Yes thank you Betty for starting the talk. The deadline for getting your reservations in has been extended, to 9/1/06. I have also sent out many post cards and made phone calls to try to get people to come, Would hope that if any of you know anyone who might need a little nudge please write or call them we only have 1 50th lets make it really special! Remember if they can't come for all three days they should try to make it for a little bit...any day. I have sent David an update this evening so that he can make the little * appear by the names of those attending. Also if you can't make it send a recent picture so that we can add it to the memory book. Hope to hear from many more classmates before September 1. I will be gone for about 3 days 8/21 through 8/23 John is having surgery in Santa Barbara.... Just when I thought my "jacque Nurse" days were over!! At least it's a month before the reunion.

Aug 12, 2006 at 12:48:07 Dave (BR, LA)
On this day 50 years ago, David and Rosemary were married and lived happily ever after.

Aug 12, 2006 at 23:03:33 wcrow (truckee)
Dave and RO I am so happy for you. What a good life you have lived. I wish you many more years together. I am glad we have been friends forever. Come on classmates get on the train and lets get to our 50th!! Took a 5 mile hike up the hills today and visited the site of the 30 foot boardwalk bridge that will be dedicated to Pat at the end of the summer. I will send a picture to Dave and he can post it. It is a pretty site on the Donner Rim Trail. To all of you who are having your own 50th this year I congratulate you all on a great accomplishment. See you in Sept. wc

Wow! Congratulations to all you 50th couples . . . I thought I was born married (which makes me 49 years and 11 mo. old) but now that we are the youngsters about to join the 50th anniversary of being married group that have already celebrated their 50th (ours is the 1st of Sept.) It must be the water in Corcoran! Or it could have been the patience of our wives over all these years! But whatever it is CONGRATULATIONS to all three of you for a great accomplishment and may we all enjoy many more!

Hi everyone, I want to encourage you to call all your fellow classmates that don't have their name with a little * beside it on the reunion list and anyone not on the list and get them to come. When I get back to town I will give David an updated list of all the attendee's to date. Remember there is only one 50th and we should all try to attend. If you can't come for the whole 3 days try to make as many as possible. I'm leaving for Santa Barbara in the AM, John has his back seat drivers license and will be in rare form I am sure. He is having rotator cuff surgery Tuesday morning and by Wednesday he will have advanced to the highest level of back seat driver for the drive home. Please God, don't let me hit a bump or pothole.

Aug 24, 2006 at 23:26:03 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
Hi Everyone, I've been busy today calling classmates, Have had some great conversations with Arnold Gray, Floyd Hensley, Patsy Rose,Shirley Toney, Loretta Jones, Maurice Jones, Shirley Toney Marshall, Wilma George, Phyllis Shirakawa, and left a few messages at Della Stiger's and Virginia Martinez. Also Talked to Richard "Dickie" Short who wants to come to the reunion. I had to recharge my phone twice because I ran the battery down so I'll try a few more tomorrow. I sure hope we have a nice turnout because it was so much fun talking about old times with all of these classmates today just think what it will be like with everyone in one room. Please send in your reservations if you haven't already and if you can't come send us a picture that we can put in the memory book. Also remember if you cant come order a memory book so you can see how we look today..and how much fun we are having!!!!

Aug 25, 2006 at 12:44:31 Dave (Baton Rouge)
It looks like I'll be at the reunion after all. Rosemary's sister Barbara is coming to stay with her while I go. She says it will be a vacation for both of us. This morning, when I turned on the computer, I noticed that Julia was on line with Skype. I gave her a call and what a surprise when she came up on my screen in real time. It is almost unbelievable to be talking to and looking at her. I was in Louisiana and she was in Germany. Got to go buy a camera for my computer. Then I'll have to clean up this room, shave and put on some clothes. Humm maybe I'll think about it some more. Be good Dave

Aug 25, 2006 at 18:56:22 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . Sounds great that you will be at the reunion and you can also tell what a great person Rosemary is! Look forward to seeing you there!::

Aug 28, 2006 at 20:31:12 Hank Spencer (Nokesville, Va)
Dave-- Really glad to hear that RO sprung you loose! Really outstanding of her to do something like for her other half. Now we only have half a lose instead of a complete lose of not see the both of you. I really want to thank you for the absolute marvel that you've created for this website. Without the fanatastic array of pictures and now the addition of the names, I'd be at almost a complete loss to be able to recognize or follow their aging (or lack thereof) over the 50 years that you've chronicled. I certainly hope the rest of the crew recognizes the importance of this wonder. I have seen people that I last saw in 1952 grow to be young adults and was really astounded by how some of them had changed. However the following reunions and get togethers with 5 and 10 year increments along with their names has given (at least to me) a wonderful progression of their presence. To you I take my hat off (but not in the bright sun). Looking forward to seeing all of you in Visalia. HS

Aug 29, 2006 at 07:23:25 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hank....A few kind words can ruin the reputation I've spent a life-time building. But...Thanks

Aug 29, 2006 at 11:36:26 Hank Spencer (Nokesville, Va)
Dave- Yes, let's not let out all the unknowns of our aura!! such as being "PAPA BEAR". But no matter- both aspects seem to fit well I think. Anyway, the website is without a doubt the finest for such a group. By the way, I haven't seen anymore accounts of adventures from the southern seas. They were superb accounts and very enjoyable reading. Do you know if there be more or has the boat gone into dry dock? HS

The Indigo Moon, after traveling down the Leeward and Windward Islands of the Eastern Caribbean, is tied up in the Bahia Redonda Marina at Porto La Cruz, Venezuela waiting out the hurricane season. On the way down they stopped at every island so they should have a lot to write about. There is a place on the front page of their site Indigo Moon that you can enter your email address and get notification of updates.

Hello to all good friends. this is a request for action from someone who knows what is going on in Corcoran. I just got a request from Lew Florence through my brother Lindon to let all of my classmates know that on Oct 6th there will be a 100 year celebration of something on the fields of CUHS prior to a football game. It sounds like this is for the city but could it be for the school?? Who can find this out and let others know? I will be in Thailand riding on elephants so I can't attend. Fall is definitly on the way here to the Sierras. Temps are dropping, tourists are leaving, leaves are turning.....it is a good place to be as it is still 110 in Palm Desert. I am going to Nashville this weekend to watch the Bears play the Volunteers. There will be 3 old guys wearing Blue hats in a stadium of 112k wearing orange. Will they notice?? wc

Aug 30, 2006 at 18:56:01 JimG (Tulare)
Wayne and classmates . . . I see Lew Florence all the time and can find out some specifics. However, I can't jump high enough to hand you the message if you are on an elephant. Maybe a trampoline will work!

I got a call from the school yesterday. They are emailing me a brochure on the events that will be taking place in Corcoran. They want it put on the site.. Then we will know what's going on.

OK, here's the straight skinny. On Oct 6th from 4 to 6 pm prior to the Homecoming game a picnic will be held on the football field to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Corcoran School District. I hope none of the player land with their face in a pile of...mustard. For more information see our home page.

Wow! Did Tennessee put a southern style ass whuppin on the Cal Bears!!! I now know where they party the best. The SEC is football mania at its best. What an expensive way to learn that your team is highly over rated. Oh well, we Cal fans are accustomed to these set backs. See you in Visalia.

Well tomorrow I give a kinda sorta final count to the caterer for the Saturday night banquet. There will be 73 attending. We will have 65 at the tailgate& game Friday night, 39 on the bus and 64 at the Thursday night banquet. Some can only make it Friday night, and others only Saturday night. Those of us lucky enough to attend all 3 days will get to see everyone! We can take up to 100 Thursday night with no problems. Friday and Saturday if they give us a few days we could accomodate more as well. Barbara Goodrich Weaver has crafted a lovely surprise for all of us on Friday night. Frank Avitia is really putting on a super party friday evening....he's got a theme of Blue and Gold and has confessed to painting planters and containers to go with the theme. Remember to bring some bragging pictures of family, friends, pets, boats, planes etc, and try to remember GOOD stories to tell ..if not lie a little. Any one who hasn't sent in their reservations, call Brad or Jacque or email us.::

NEW COUNT ! 75 for the Saturday night banquet, 67 at the Tailgate/Game party on Friday AND David Folsom sent a picture and request for a memory book! David is an older version of who I remember in Grammer school. Talked to Jim Gonsalves yesterday afternoon, seems he and Arlene have moved into the Golden Years with several other couples (50th aniversary) had a lovely party, even though he had to wear a coat and tie (Arlene you need to give me lessons on how to accomplish that). The high light of the evening was a visit from the one and only ELVIS. Seems he was so impressive that one of our classmates ask him for his card. Now THAT sound like a super party! Might be we need Jim on the next reunion committee! Get you thinking caps on for suggestions for the next reunion and committee. See you in less than 2 weeks!

Good Afternoon to all,::Hope everyone is doing well. ::We are excited for the reunion. Sounds like Frank & Jane are planning a great party.::Just wanted to say Jim & Arlene had a beautiful 50th anniversary party. Jim did look handsome in his coat & tie. He did it just for her and that is how they are celebrating their 50th. I really thought Elvis was back. At our age when you don't see to well and your hearing is not much better you can be fooled. ::Weather is beautiful here today. In 2 wks should be perfect.::::Betty G

I got some old Corcoran pictures from Donnetta Murray the other day. Donnetta is the secretary to the superintendent of the Corcoran school district. The pictures are of: The grammar school that was in the city park, 1923 cotton parade at the high school that was built in 1914, two images of the 1914 high school and a picture of the 1939 high school. To see them go to "Photos" and click on "Before". I'm a little sad, but I don't remember ever being sent to the District Superintendent's office. Thought I'd hit them all. See you all soon now you hear. Hope Arlene was able to get a picture of Jim all dressed up.

There is a picture of the grammar school that we attended.

Looking forward to seeing all you classmates who are attending the reunion in 2 days! I have been painting sticks gold, glueing banners, and making lists. If I forgot something, pretend that I didn't....in otherwords, Humor the old girl! Anyone who is not attending the reunion but who would like a memory book with photo's & addresses, Send me a note or call me and we'll add you to the list. Also send a current picture of yourself, we would love to add it to the memory book as well. For those of you that are attending... REMEMBER start thinking about the next reunion, where, when, and especially WHO is going to be your Chairman, Leader or what ever. Hope the air is sweet and the tempature is cool in Visalia...it's been hot and ugly with the smoke from the day fire. I never thought I'd not like the air in SLO!

Well here we are at the start of another reunion. I got up early to catch a flight out of New Orleans, 2 AM PT, and by 9 PM I didn't know which way down was. There are a number of classmates attending that I haven't seen for years. Had a nice get-togeather yesterday. More later, Dave

Ellie we all miss you. I think everyone had a good time. Saturday night Bill had several people get up and tell stories about their experiences at school. They were the highlight of the evening. The hospitality room really got busy Saturday & we hear great stories/tales of "the olden Days". We missed all the classmates that were unable to attend. I'm sure your ears & theirs were ringing because we were talking about you too. Our buffet on Thursday was nice. Friday the Hospitality room had a little traffic, we left at 3:15 for Corcoran, were given a tour of the High School by the Principal, Had an outstanding tailgate party at Frank & Jane Avitia's, they had the Panther statue from the school to greet us & had decorated in blue & gold. They helped make the day unforgettable. We walked to the game, just accross the street & down the block. Barbara Goodrich W. made everyone a silk pompom corsage with a blue C in the center to wear to the game & we all sat in a reserved section. Also the Corcoran Journal took a group picture of us on the steps of the Auditorium for the paper. We've set the next reunion for 2008 so we will all have to work on staying well & make that one. I hope others that attended will also add to this so that you will feel like you've had the "armchair tour". It was fun & I personally loved talking to everyone.......even lost my voice!

I really had a great time visiting with everyone. It was great seeing those who have been missing in the past (the Henrys (Clark and Spencer), Tom McDonald, the Shirleys (Toney and Williams), and many more this ditsy mind is trying to recall. Can't wait to receive the group picture. We missed those not present. (I especially missed Rosemary and Ellie). Hope everyone can make the reunion in 2008. Special thanks to Jacque and Brad for all of the work and planning it took to make this a success. Thanks, too, to the Avitias for the lovely tail-gate party. The tour of the school was wonderful. Many changes have been made over the year. Looking forward to 2008 and seeing friends again.

FORGOT ONE THING actually probably forgot many things. A BIG Thank You to Henry's wife, The Reverend Marilyn Spencer for the lovely personalized prayer at the beginning of the banquet on Saturday night. She took the time to ask about us before composing her thoughts for the prayer. I appriciate all of her efforts to make the evening special.

HELLO CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, I JUST RETURNED FROM THE HOSPITAL WHERE TOMMY NEVAREZ IS STAYING. HE DID HAVE A HEART ATTACK. HE HAD 2 STINTS INSTALLED YESTERDAY. HE IS DOING WELL NOW. HE ASKED ME TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS. HE WAS IMPRESSED THAT WE HAD PRAYED FOR HIM AS A GROUP. HE THINKS HE WILL BE ABLE TO GO HOME TOMORROW. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU. EACH YEAR IT GETS BETTER. NOT BECAUSE OF WHO DID WHAT, BUT, BECAUSE WE ARE THERE. JERRY WHITE SAID IT WELL, WE ARE A FAMILY. I REALLY DO BELIEVE WE WERE PUT TOGETHER FOR A PURPOSE. I AM HAPPY TO BE PART OF IT. MANY, MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED IN ANY WAY. NO WAY THAT I COULD NAME ALL OF YOU. GOD'S BLESSINGS. LOVE BRAD

I finally got home. Sure good to be here and out of all that bright sunshine. I want to thank everyone that signed the card for Rosemary. She was really touched by it. Also, I told her that "Top Ten Household Hints" was the best part of the whole reunion. Now don't none of you tell her the truth. You hear! Sure good seeing all my classmates again.... I don't think I like the term classmates. Sure good to see all the people I grew up with again. Better!! We were more than just classmates Also, it was good to see Nancy and Dick Short, Jim Rich, and Lew Florence. It was special to go to the Superior Dairy with my brother and sister. Plus spend the day with my brother in law and his two sons. Jacque and Brad: GOOD SHOW.

Hello everyone, I have sent David another update on Classmates addresses, Phone #, and email addresses, Including Tom Nevarez's new PO Box and Phone #. We forget to notify David with that information and it makes it difficult to reach us when a reunion is planned. So, when you move, get a new phone, or email address, remember to include David and the class site. We don't want to loose you! jacque

Well, I'm back home at the motel now. Had a wonderful time in California. I got to see a bunch of people I haven't seen since graduation, and longer. When my father passed away in 98, my brother, Jack (class of 52), was to sick to go to the funeral. I got to see him on Wednesday, before the reunion, along with my sister, Betty (class of 55). Then the next day if got to see my cousin, Shirley, (Coalinga class of 58) and cousin, Patsy (Woodlake class of 54). Had a really great time visiting old friends. The weather was too great, too sunny and warm in the day time, just right at night. Got to see the old Giant at COS and Merle's Drive Inn across the street, too bad it was closed and fence off. The Day fire was too far to the right of I-5 to affect anything on the way back to LA, but it was nice to visit Corcoran on the way, I found a few of the places in lived there and took pictures to those, except the one's on Patterson (they had bushes too high to take pictures, but the one from Kindergarten was still there, a little run down, but still recognizable. See you all in 2008.

We have 122 images on the site. Go to the events page and click on 2006. There are three pages: main, pictures and a list of attendees. Send images and please let us know about mistakes. Ed Harris, we all need the only known images of the 1966 reunion. Had a great time in Visalia. Thank you all and love you all. Dave

Hi All, Sounds like you had an "Absolute Ball" at the 50th Reunion. Sure wish we could have been there, but at least our Love was with all of you. Can't wait to see the Memory Book. Darold is going in for another surgery this coming Friday. Had his right knee replaced a few months ago and now he goes in to have his left one replaced. I haven't been on the Net a lot lately to write, but I always try to check in every other day to see our Guest Book. Lots Of Love, Patty & Darold

Hi Y'all, Too much Paula Deen! I vicariously have been enjoying the chat re: reunion. Wish we could have been there. But my Frank is still in the hospital. Had gall bladder removed. Then had migrant stones removed by Endoscopic surg, then had large abcess drained, fever through all, I.V. veins collapsed, BUT TODAY, he feels relief, Thank God, and I think we've gotten a break here. This started in August and looks like October may be a good month for us. Check our website for more detailed information. Just Kidding!! Love, Ellie

HELLO CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, I'M STILL BUZZING FROM ALL THE EXCITEMENT AT THE REUNION. SITTING IN CHURCH THIS MORNING, I WAS THINKING ABOUT ALL THE GREAT PEOPLE WHO ARE A PART OF OUR CLASS. ONE MORE THANK YOU TO MELVIN JONES FOR THE GREAT TESTIMONY AT THE BREAKFAST ON SUNDAY MORNING. IT WAS AWESOME. I'M SORRY FOR THE ONES WHO WERE UNABLE TO BE THERE BECAUSE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEMS. NEXT TIME IT COULD BE ME. NEVERLESS, I'M THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE IN 2008. LOVE, BRAD

Dave--- There you go doing what only you do best!!! The pictures with anotations are superb.. We just got back to Va. yesterday 2 AM. But, the best time on the trip was the really great time we had with the gang of "56". Really sorry that Ellie and Frank and your other half were unable to partake of the event. It was a real hoot to see how we all have changed, but still remain a group that is so close. I thank my God for allowing this great event. Sorry we were unable to get to the early service, Brad. The trip still took an awful long time to get to San Diego (3:30). Going to Lancaster, Pa. tomorrow morning to see a living Bibical play of "Ruth". Also staying with Marilyns sister in their huge RV. Have to get some sleep- still haven't gotten my days straightened out with a subtle 3 hr difference. HS

Where did Paul Platz coach before Corcoran. Alpaugh News: Alpaugh High School has its first football team this year since 1950. In the year 1950 helmets didn't feature face masks. There were 19 players under the direction of coach Paul Platz. Football was being played for the first time in Alpaugh. "It was really something new," said Jack Mitchell, who was a seventh-grader during the 1950-51 school year. "But there just was not enough kids for that big a team." The inexperienced Buffalos were not very good. They were outscored 273-0 in six games, according to Central Section historian Bob Barnett.

Oct 10, 2006 at 11:34:44 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Something you need to know about Corcoran football happening during the '50s. Corcoran won the Valley Championship during the 1950 season. The coach was Ed Siminski. Siminski resigned at near the end of the school year to take a position with a LA school. Dr. Lantz needed a replacement. Paul Platz was an easy choice as a replacement despite the fact he had never won a game. Platz won one game during the 1951 season. He stayed at Corcoran until he finally won the League Championship during the 1956 season. He then went on to coach at Poway High School in San Diego County. Had he remained in Corcoran he could have won the League Championship in 1957 and 1958. Another interesting item, Lindon Crow played for Coach Siminski in 1950. Years later Lindon was a High school coach in the LA area and Siminski was the assistant coach. And now you know it all.

Not quite. Frank is home from hospital after 3 weeks. Not quite himself yet but we're hoping he'll bounce back eventually. He was very sick. I'm taking good care of him and there are no trips in RV til he's fit. Other than that we're fine still going to drs. for followups. Next we';re tackling neuropathy in legs and feet. I should leave well enough alone but can't when I see pain. Thank you Julia for kind words. How's our Conrad? I felt so sorry to miss the reunion but what can one do regarding sickness. Next time for sure. We are entering into these precarious times where body parts just poop out. So we try to live each day as the last and enjoy.

I put the proof item on, but I don't agree with the math. 1)To find a woman you need time and money. Woman=Time+Money. 2) Time is Money. Time=Money. 3) Therefore: Woman=Money+Money. Woman=Twice the Money. 4) Money is the cause of all problems. Money=Problems. 5) Therefore: Woman=Twice the Problems. Will what else have I got to do on a raining day in LoUiSiAna. Ellie, Frank is in good hands.

This is a poll........who thought their photo from the reunion was BAD! I don't mean that it showed you had more chins than you thought or that you weren't thin but that the quality was BAD. I have to pick from the one that almost didn't get my head in the picture or the one that got John's ear right on the edge. I wouldn't have said anything BUT the next week at John's reunion same company different photographer and they were bad too. I have had calls from 15 of John's classmates asking if ours were ok. They are writing the company. So, remember you don't have to order any just check the least offensive(for the book) and send them back. If I hear from enough of you I think I might ask for more candid pages in the book to make up for the photos.....or do you all think they are super? Email me and let me know. I thought the photographer was jumping around and not orderly, he didn't take Henry & Marilyn's picture and he sure didn't have any order for the group picture. He certainly didn't look through the view finder to see if his subjects were centered in either of my photo's. I received the book pages and some candid picture today from the photo company. I have to supply them with a few things and put together the candid photo's and send them back by Nov. 10. So email me right away...I want to get this out and paid for soon.

Oct 22, 2006 at 13:20:45 Hank Spencer (Nokesville, Va)
Jacque: Saw your comments re the photos. Marilyn asked me to query whether you had received the photos she sent to you. It seems that the company has a history. Hope it gets taken care of to satisfaction for the group.David: How are you and RO getting along with your waterwings this season? Sure looked wet down there to me..Hope all are well where ever you are! Hank

Oct 22, 2006 at 16:50:04 Betty Grant (Visalia)
Jacque, Not happy with photo's. Seem like we never get real good quality with these package deals. I will not be placing an order, but for the memory book they will work. I did not find info on order blank to return your choice. Maybe I missed it. Now that I think about it, I have not been happy with any photo of myself for the past 50 yrs. Maybe it wasn't the photographer.::::::Thanks for all your hard work.::::Betty G::

Oct 22, 2006 at 18:40:54 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Jacque, I don't have a problem with the quality of the photos. Like Betty, my problem is the quality of the subject. I filled out my form by checking the square next to the image that looked the least of the two like me and checked nothing else. Is this correct for getting what we already paid for? The memory book. I noticed they didn't mention the memory book on their form. Let me know. I haven't mailed the thing yet. Henry, we survived 18 inches in 24 hours once. The last few days have been a cake walk or maybe a puddle jump.

WEll good friends I am still fighting a bad cold but I think now I can tell you that I really enjoyed my trip to the far East. I was in Cambodia, Thailand, Burma, and Laos for 18 days. It was fascinating to see that culture. I travelled on jet planes, small busses, overnight trains(bad night), ox carts, water taxis, elephants, rickshaws, bamboo rafts, and two old tired feet. The people are very friendly and religion totally dominates the culture. The north is mostly Budhist,, with Hindu next, then Muslim and last Christian. The south is mostly Muslim and that is where the fighting is happening. There are over 36k temples and we saw lots of them. My group was 14 people and all were good people and great travelers. The tour group is called OverSeas Adventure Travel and takes small groups into places that large groups never go so it is very adventurous. The rain that is falling up north is now reaching the Bangkok area and flooding is really bad. From the air it looked like the San Joaquin Valley in total flood plain. All the rain from the north even from China drains south and reaches the sea through this area . The rivers cannot hold it so it floods. The Mekong River brings down so much water that it causes other rivers to back up and flood areas in Cambodia. I toured one area that is completely built on floating structures and moves with the water. Schools, churches, medical services, homes, are all on pontooons or bamboo rafts and they move with the water. I saw pigs raised on a raft. This is in Cambodia. Well glad to be home. I realy enjoyed the fellowship at the 50th. It helps me at this time of my life to know I have such good and caring friends. Love to all wc

Henry your picture arrived and is going to be the best one of the lot! Check the box next to the photo that is the best of the 2 and send it back. I think John may be without his ear because that's the one that is the least terrible...I of course have too much of me in both, but that's not the photographers fault....the ear is! I will be calling them to register a complaint...might get us an extra page of good photo's taken by classmates. Wayne your trip sound great I'm 49 days and counting until I leave on my first of 3 I've got planned.(that doesn't count the 2 I want to take in the USA in the next 9 months....Poor John is going to have to learn how to cook or hire one....he won't go unless he can go fishing or hunting.

HELLO FRIENDS, JACQUE, I WAS NOT TOO EXCITED ABOUT THE PICS, BUT, AS OTHERS HAVE SAID, IT IS THE SAD SHAPE OF THE OBJECTS THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. GOOD TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE,WAYNE, BETTY, DAVE, JACQUE, HENRY, ELLIE. IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE NEW COMMENTS. I HAVE GOOD NEWS. BEVERLY,S PET SCAN CAME BACK WITH AN "ALL NORMAL" REPORT. WE THANK GOD EVERY DAY FOR THE BLESSINGS WE ENJOY. I CALLED TOMMY NEVAREZ, HE IS DOING WELL. A PRAYER OF WELLNESS AND BLESSINGS FOR ALL OF YOU. LOVE, BRAD

Lew, James (Grandson) and I watched CVC last Friday. It is a private school that the Gilkey and Hansen grandson's attended plus a couple of years ago. James may be starting 6th grade there next year!

Julie sent me a movie made up of clips from the reunion prior the 1st of this month. After a lot of trial and error I have put a link to it on the first page of our 50th reunion. It requires QuickTime 7.0 player. This in turn requires a Mac or Windows 2000 or better operating system. Use the return button to get out of it. The screen is small and if you increase the size; the quality drops; plus it has sound. Julie also put together the 1st page. Thank You Julia

CORCORAN IS LEAGUE CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!! THEY WON 7 TO 6. THEY WERE ON DEFENCE CVC WAS ON CORCORAN'S 20 YARD LINE. CORCORAN RECOVERED A FUMBLE WITH LESS THAN 1 MIN TO GO. THEY JUST HAD TO TAKE ONE SNAP AND LET THE TIME RUN OUT. BRAD

I received the group photo yesterday. The photo's not bad, but the spelling under it is. (Never knew September was spelled with only two E's. What school did the photographer attend?) Not a bad-looking group, though a few faces were hidden. I had a great time. Again, Jacque, thanks for all of your hard work. Yours too, Brad. Looking forward to 2008!

Hope everyone is well! We bit the bullet and went to DSL. Now address has changed and is: dearspencer1@verizon.net .::::The leaves are in full swing (almost 90%) down now and a real mess to clean up this year. Oh, well, that's the benefit to living on the east coast. ::::The verizon format is quite different from the netzero for this site. Probably couldn't pick up the real one with the dialup of netzero. It was a real pain to get it going though. Hope you are well, I read the accounts of the vagabonds the other day--nice to be so free and able to do it at their ages..::Love to all----Hank

Hi All,::It's been awhile since I've written, but I have been going in and reading about all of you. Sounds like everyone has been "Busy-Beavers". Darold had his 2nd knee replaced and both surgerys went like he was a 21 year old, but both after maths were a mess. He is now doing better, had to go back in the hospital after each surgery, but is now home and I hope on his way to a great recovery. Am anxious to get my "Memory Book" I ordered so I can see how much fun you all had at the Reunion. Happy Holidays to all. Patty

Fonda send us a nice note and a CD full of pictures from the 50th reunion. The pictures are now on the site. Next thing you know she'll write in our forum. Thanks Fonda for the excellent pictures. Good to hear from you Patty.

Happy Thanksgiving to my great friends. I will leave the desert where it was 89 today and head up to Truckee where it is 45. I will spend the winter up there and lease this house for 3 months. Did I get kicked in the head in football too many times!!! Isn't that just backasward of what I am supposed to do ? Oh well , I bought my ski passes already. Really I am spending time up there to help my daughter get back on track. I am ready to get 2006 behind me and find out what the new life has to pffer me. I saw my doctor today and he said all clear so far as the tests show. No! I will not go to the Holiday Bowl to see Cal play. I am 0-2 in travel trips this year so I will stay home. Love to all of you. even those who read but never write!!wc

Hi everyone . . . Happy Thanksgiving! Wayne I was wondering if you and Lindon were going to be sitting in the end zone one on SC side and you on Cal side. So you should have gone and maybe Cal would have won. Temporarily my email at home is not working and can be reached at a new temporary site I will give to David. ::

Thanksgiving Day and we're, of course, on the beach. Never mind that the nite was 45 and the high is maybe 70 with gusting winds to 35mph. We're pretending to each other that we're not freezing. First man in is a wimp! Anyway, this is our first rv trip since he's out of hospital. All's well. We have another problem to explore and another Dr. to go but we'll get to the end of this soon. He's well but not the old Frank yet. Working on it.::Hope all of you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving. Frank is a vegetarian and he doesn't do tofu cause I was going to make him a tofu turkey. So I'm having a chicken breast and he will enjoy his veggies as usual. Not a problem. Love conquers all. HappyThanksgiving to each of you. Ellie & Frank.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I am busy "Editing" the memory book...they finally sent it! The spelling will be good or else! The editing consists of providing the class members addresses, all candid pictures, plus pictures of the school (they wanted to use the lampliter inn!) That mental giant that took the pictures forgot to get Henry & Marilyn's picture so the Spencers sent one. I have pictures of others unable to attend, but not all. The photographer took some pictures at the dinner....will use about 10 of them the rest will come from pictures obtained either on this site or from those who attended. I have to finish it this week because I am leaving the country & won't be home until 22 December. Will notify you all when I mail it in to the printer. Also am sending out several refunds tomorrow. After I pay for the memory books I will send out an accounting of the $$ received & spent for the reunion. Miss you all.

Great touch, David. Perfect music. Where in the world is Jacque? I will investigate.

Dec 9, 2006 at 08:45:31 .Jacque (SLO)
The memory book is completed, I'm mailing it this morning! No wonder they only charge $15 we do all the work. I ordered a few extra, if you didn't send in your $15 & want one let me know. I am leaving 12/10 for Germany & Austria. Will be home on 12/22 Merry Christmas to all & Happy Holidays to my special friends. My server has to replace my antenna, I can receive but the sending is iffy. The repair person is due Monday, he should have fun with John....serves him right for being so slow. Talk to you when I get back. Ellie I answered you, my computer says it was sent but that is my problem with the server so it could be false. Love to all of you jacque

HELLO CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, A CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY WISH FOR EACH OF YOU THAT WE WILL BE MINDFUL OF OUR GOD AND HIS TREMENDOUS LOVE FOR US. IT IS INCOMPREHENDABLE TO ME, BUT, I KNOW IT IS TRUE. DAVE, THE NEW LINKS ARE GREAT. I WILL SEND CARDS. JACQUE, YOU ARE A CLASSY LADY. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR QUALITY WORK. HAVE A GREAT TIME ON YOUR VACATION. LOVE TO ALL, BRAD

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Happy Hanukah, and any other way to address my dear friends at this time of year. It is snowing outside mixed with rain so it isn't very pretty but tonight it will turn to a winter wonderland. Next week I can ski!! I have places to be this Christmas but I haven't made up my mind where to go . The driving always helps make that choice in winter. Thanks again to Jacque and Brad plus others who made a great effort to give us a good 50th. I am waiting now for the book to see our " pictures" The house is shaking as I type this as the snow plough just came by to do the job. Now I will drive out, buy weekend papers, stoke a fire, and settle down to ride out the storm. This will be a hard Christmas to get through without Pat as she really loved the shopping, wrapping, entertaining, but I know I will move forward to a New Year. I am glad to see 2006 pass into history. God Bless all of you and your loved ones.

Sorry haven't been on the internet for awhile. Been standing in line at the post office. They have a new high speed computer system that is ten times ten slower than the old one. Mail Early !!!

Dec 13, 2006 at 19:09:34 JimG (Tulare)
Dave . . . Just put the mail in your mail box and raise the red flag. Works every time. Then you can get right back on your computer! Just an old time remedy that you made me remember!

Dec 15, 2006 at 18:37:42 JimG (Tulare)
Now I know what Ellie was talking about . . . I just heard Bill Haley and the Comets singing Shake, Rattle and Roll to go with our class picture. Really makes you want to jump up and jitterbug! Good job Dave!::

Dec 16, 2006 at 17:13:04 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Jim, I went to the post office and said I wanted a red flag put on my mail box so I don't have to stand in Line. They wanted to know what kind of time capsule I fell out of. Have lots of music, but most is Led Zeppelin and not '56 music. Put on a 8 1/2 minute Video today. "Skidboot" Normally I don't do videos, but this one is great. I had three grandkids here last night and showed them the tape. They didn't move for 8 1/2 minutes despite the fact their dad was saying "We are leaving!!". Don't you love it when one of your kids gets a little antagonized with one of their kids. I always think "its payback time" Take a look at the video.

Dec 16, 2006 at 18:40:24 wayneC (Truckee)
Dave, thanks for the Skid Boot video. I really enjoyed it. This kind of video I will send to friends. It is 22 and the snow is falling straight down. Very pretty. Mother Nature cannnot make up her mind what to do here in Northern Calif. Next week it is going to warm up again. For good reading I recommend Big Russ by Tim Russert the news commentator. I think we can relate somewhat to his memories of the wisdom of his father. His latest book Wisdom of Our Fathers is a followup from all the letters sent by sons and daughters who wanted to say something about their Dad. Now, would someone please write a good book about the wisdom and strength of our Mothers. From my family history and culture that is where the strength came from. Am I right?wc

You know how JimG is always saying that pictures make him look short. I was going through some 50th reunion pictures when I found one with his true proportions. See Forum page for link.

OK . . . I knew I would finally grow tall and catch all you guys . . . But I didn't know it was going to take 50 years!!!! By the way Dave, I am sorry I said anything about the red flag on the mail box. I want to stay tall and slim so don't mess with the computer!::

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Once again this year I was going to mail everyone a special Christmas Card and once again this year I did not get that accomplished. Wayne, we will remember you and your family. I know it must be especially hard during the Holidays. We're all looking forward to a New and Happy 2007. See you soon.::::Sid & Betty::

A GOOD CHRISTMAS MORNING TO ALL MY FRIEND. I AM REMINDED OF THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. HIS NAME IS JESUS. HE WAS PROPHECIED BY THE PROPHET ISAIAH TO AHAZ, KING OF JUDAH, THAT A VIRGIN WOULD CONCIEVE AND BARE A SON. HE IS MY MESSIAH. I CANNOT THANK GOD ENOUGH FOR HIS GIFT. THIS IS THE REASON I REJOICE AND AM GLAD. PRAISE BE TO OUR GOD. BRAD

Thanks to Wayne, we have added a couple of pages to the San Francisco reunion. Check the "We Were There" page for any mistakes. Not sure about some of the spouses names. There are two reasons for people to live in Louisiana. One is to cut grass and the other is to rake leaves. Thankfully, this year, all the leaves fell during the last two weeks (except the two oak tree). That will give me until mid February until the mowing starts up. Of course that depends on the wind. Here a North wind is very cold and South is warm. So.. it all has to do with which way the wind blows. Speaking of wind, I'll sign off now.

Hello everyone, First if you get any type of billing from the memory book/photo people it is not for the memory book. I paid them in FULL. It can only be for photos you ordered. Second after a 1 hr and then 12 1/2 hr flights from austria and Germany I have totally recovered.....I will never go economy again!!!! the space for my knees was not there this time Plus the man infront of me took a large sleeping pill & reclined the WHOLE time. It's Business or first class from now on. The trip was fun but no snow..warmest year ever recorded. Got a taste of Vienna and want to go back, The concert in Salzburg was fantastic! Had chestnut soup..delicious, mulled wine at all the Kristkindlmarkts..have a collections of cups I seemed to have ended up bring home. Christmas at home was great with John BBQing huge New York steaks (approx 3" thick). Happy New Year to all. Now I'm planning a few trips to see my friends state side. to Lousiana, Florida, Texas & Wisconsin...going to use up the 200k plus ff miles jt
