happy New Year to all of my favorite people! it is so good to hear that all is well with you. Hi Ellie and Carolyn. Sad to hear of Janice she was a good friend for many years. Pat and I came to Donner Lake to ski for two weeks and found our home here with one inch of ice on the bathroom floor!! The problem was a faulty shutoff valve that allowed water to come back into the system so it froze up and the shower head sprayed water for many weeks onto the floor. Now we are looking at removing floors , walls, sheetrock, etc. What a way to start the new year. Now I have to deal with a timeline for repairs in the winter time. Dave amd Rosemary just to9 let you know that Bill, Robyn, Pat and I are heading for a trip on the Mississippi from New Orleans up to Baton Rouge in April so we will getin touch with you. Maybe we can hook up. Hurray for USC. Too bad they lost to Cal . That's alll for now from the frozen northen Calif.

Wayne,::::Wow, what a shock to find your home with water and ice all over . . . We did not know what to expect when the earthquake hit over at the coast. We went over the next weekend to check out our mobile home and everything was OK. I guess we should check with Patty about California's 4 season's insurance . . . Earthquakes, fire, mudslides and whatever the 4th one is. By way with what Ohio State did to Iowa State and if Oklahoma wins and USC already having beat another Big 10 team I know that the Bowl computer system will say it is a 4 way tie for the top team. Dave by the way who are you going to root for in the little game coming up?::::JimG::::

Jan 3, 2004 at 09:41:11 JimG (Tulare)
OK, OK . . . Just a slight memory moment . . . I should have said Kansas State instead of Iowa State losing to Ohio State. Well BillyC should be hooting over his Beloved Buckeyes.::::JimG::

Jan 3, 2004 at 14:43:19 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hi Jim, I see they have the national championship trophy here in Louisiana to present to the winner of the championship game. Number three USC may have won the AP popularity contest by beating the number four team in a minor bowl, but they didn't make it to the big game. The reason is, they played a easy schedule. This will cause a tie in the title. It's like 1974 when Oklahoma and USC spite. OK won the AP and SC won the UPI because OK was on NCAA probation! How are the teams USC beat doing in their bowl games? I notice Georgia, Arkansas and Mississippi all won. LSU had to beat Georgia twice. The bottom lines. I'm rooting for Fresno State ( Too bad USC got past UCLA!)and nobody gives a damn what two old men think.

Jan 3, 2004 at 16:09:15 Patty (Chanute, Kansas)
Jim... That 4th one you're looking for on the Insurance is::"Wind & Hail". Sure would like to write you guys a Policy, but you'd ALL have to move to KANSAS. And Wayne, remember the Ole Saying, Lousey Start = Good Finish!! So hopefully all will go okey on your repairs and the rest of 2004. Happy New Year To Everyone.::Patty

Jan 4, 2004 at 09:47:37 JimG (Tulare)
Dave, ::::Your right, Fresno State is the one . . . Just a short note that a Corcoran alum is playing 1st string linebacker at FSU. He was a walk on, his name is Todd Garcia, son of Richard Garcia who own's the Chevy dealership in Corcoran.::::JimG::

Jan 5, 2004 at 12:16:45 Bill Rose (Columbia, MO)
Looks like LSU has the best defense in the country. What a mess the BCS has created. Sure adds fire to having another game to determine the final #1, but is that really important for these students ????? IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

Jan 6, 2004 at 13:34:39 Dave (Baton Rouge)
This place really has some temperature swings. It was 78º on Sunday afternoon and the forecast tonight is 23º. Patty: Do they have wind and hail damage in Kansas? Our insurance man was here this morning to look at our hail damaged roof. He determined it damaged and has agreed to pay for the replacement. Wayne and Bill: The best place to visit in this area is Natchez. There are houses in Natchez that cost hundreds of thousand of dollars to build before the civil war. The people went to Europe to buy the furniture. Much of the original furnishing are still in the houses.

Jan 6, 2004 at 15:31:45 jacque, (San Luis Obispo)
David, You're going to have the whole class asking for a tour of Baton Rouge, Natchez, and New Orleans ( Narlins). Maybe we should schedule a mini reunion soon in La.? Hail, frozen pipes & flooded rooms, what next? I think I prefer 20 seconds of pure terror once every 20 years or so. Not a brick fell out of the fireplace/bbq, 1 picture frame fell off the shelf. The pool table light looked like a giant swing for a minute or so and John jumped out of his chair like a young man and headed for the door...he forgot all about using his walker or cane. Now he can't use the knee as an excuse.

Jan 6, 2004 at 21:33:39 Patty (Chanute, Kansas)
Dave,::Kansas has Wind & Hail Insurance for the coverages we have on all the Tornados & Heavy Winds with lots of Hail instead of just rain. Our Spring & Summers are real busy in our office paying out losses for all our insureds that are effected by this type of tragedy. We paid out about $200 Thousand in a little town of Humboldt(About 5,000 people) May of 2003, 7 miles from Chanute, for just the Hail losses alone. As you can see it is a real important coverage to a policy. Hope none of my Classmates ever have to use it. See Ya, Patty

Jan 7, 2004 at 08:15:20 JimG (Tulare)
Hi Everyone,::::Jacque . . . Don't go to Parkfield because I believe it is famous for being the Earthquake Capital of California (maybe the world for all I know). Patty I checked my insurance on our mobile home for earthquake protection and low and behold we have it . . . Now I know why I didn't have any damage. Bill I noticed Dave changed the subject to weather rather than the BCS. Sobeit . . . LSU did look good and all the top teams look like they have very young players. Wayne/Bill you don't suppose Cal might slip in there next year?::::JimG::

Wow, What Happened here? I go out of the country for a few days, and all of a sudden, new people are popping up all over the place. Hi Carolyn, Long time no see. Hi Ellie, It's nice to see you on-line now. JimG, I am not a Buckeye fan. My senior year there I had season tickets on the 45 yd line, 7th row from the bottom. Couldn't see a thing from either 35 yd line. The Buckese's suitup all their players for homegames, and they stand on the benches. But I did get to see Miss Universe 1971 and one of the games. The Buckeyes had their worst year since 1902 I think. I preferred the Yalies, their games were much more fun to watch. Spent Christmas at Marrakesh, and New Year's eve in Lisbon with the DL and 3 Cuban/Miami girls named Rodrigues. Saw lots of fireworks. Got home last night at 10:30 pm. Had my wallet stolen 1/5/04. Had a voicemail from my sister, Betty. My mom passed away Xmas day, was buried on New Years Eve, the day after her 93rd birthday. She had suffered from Alzheimers for years. I missed her Funeral, along with my sister, Dana. Apparently the Flu/Pneumonia outbreak took her. More on the trip next time.

Jan 7, 2004 at 20:12:15 Ellie (North Fort Myers)
Yesterday was beach day! My son Peder has a home on Sanibel and I have the key. Foolhardy move. So occasionally I go for the cure. There is nothing like calling a friend and spending a day on the beach. The minute you hit the causeway (which is a beautiful site) you're in another world flying with the pelicans, egrets, herons and all the other majestic birds around the island. The beach was almost deserted because there is always a lull after the holidays, but the odd tourist was out collecting shells or fishing. The weather was made to order around 79 with a gulf breeze and the sun was warm and comforting. I had a minor medical procedure on Monday and that's why I had to head for the beach. It's like therapy! Then ,of course, nothing goes better with a day like this than a couple drafts and 2 doz. oysters,on ice. There's a local restaurant called the Lazy Flamingo and everyone is known by name. They have the best seafood and it's typical old Florida style. Have I sold you yet? 15 minutes from my house. And you say there's snow up north? Hey Gang, I spent my time freezing 34 years of it. I loved it at the time and it's a beautiful country but these last 12 years in Fl. have been a lot easier and it really spoils one. Gentlemen, good luck on your football! I'm still as ignorant as ever about sports. Who's playing in the Superbowl or did I miss it? And Ladies, I think we deserve equal time sharing recipes, sewing, hobbies, etc. Wouldn't that just put a knot in their tail! I'm only kidding guys. Be kind to each other and be well. Billy, welcome home. Wear a cap W.C. MY thoughts are with you. It truly is wonderful to touch base with you all. I definitely feel part of the group now thanks to technology. Ellie

Jan 8, 2004 at 06:51:48 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. BILLY, I'M SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MOM AND SISTER. IT SEEMS LIKE THESE KIND OF THINGS ARE HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. TODAY WE ARE GOING TO THE FINAL SERVICE FOR MY BROTHER-IN-LAW, GARY GUNDERMAN, WHO WAS MARRIED TO MY SISTER CHARLOTTE. IT'S GOOD TO SEE ALL THE COMMENTS. WAYNE, IF I WAS CLOSER, I WOULD BE GLAD TO HELP. ELLIE, YOUR COMMENTS ARE LIKE READING A BOOK. GOOD USE OF WORDS AND DESCRIPTIONS. I DO HAVE AN OPINION IN THE COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPION, BUT IT'S LIKE BELLY BUTTONS, EVERYBODY HAS ONE. I HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE WELL. LOOKING FORWARD TO NOVEMBER. IT WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT. LOVE BRAD

Jan 8, 2004 at 10:44:21 Dave (Baton Rouge)
One last time! What a mess the AP has created with the football national championship. If you look at nothing else but the AP poll, you will find LSU defeated No.3 Oklahoma, No. 7 Georgia (twice) and No. 13 Mississippi. USC defeated No. 6 Michigan and No. 9 Washington State. LSU played in two championship games and won both. USC didn't play in any. The NFL scouts say LSU and Oklahoma are better than USC. LSU is 13-1. USC is 12-1. LSU defense is No. 1 in the nation and defeated the No. 1 offense. USC is No. ? in offense and No. ? in defense. Sports writers: I see where Sports Illustrated will have 3 different covers Jan 12. LSU's the 1 for Louisiana and Mississippi; California will get a version with USC winning the AP popularity poll and the rest of the nation will get a Pete Rose "I'm not a crook" cover. Enough!! Does anyone know how to make good brownies?

Jan 9, 2004 at 06:40:34 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Today I sent a email all the members that had a known address. I had 3 out of the 43 returned. Jacque, B. Brown and M. Baker. Need a new addresses for them.

Class of '56 Pismo Mini-Reunion The planning for the mini-reunion to be held Nov 1-2 this year is coming along. Betty and Sid have asked me to pass along the information. We are looking at very casual time, no dress up, get together. We need some input if any of you would like a sit down dinner while we are there. A block of room, including a hospitality room, has been reserved at the Spyglass Inn on the North side of Pismo Beach. You can make reservations now by calling 1-800-824-2612. The price is $79.00. Reservation should be made long before Oct 1st. They have a web site at http://www.spyglassinn.com. We have a little more information on the picnic. There is a park a block away from the beach and Nate Marshall will do Bar-B-Que. There is talk of doing breakfast at the Coffee Pot in Morro Bay. The Coffee Pot is normally closed in November, but will open for the class. Golf arrangements are being looked at. There is an outlet mall and lots of antique shops in the area. We can do horseshoes and volleyball on the beach. I'm sure there will be dominos. The hospitality room will provide a place to just sit and talk. Betty and Sid said they will welcome any input for the mini-reunion. If you hope to attend, let me know and I'll add your name to the "Hope To" list on the site.::

Jan 9, 2004 at 13:53:46 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Just updated the address list. I found the mistake I made in Jacque's email address. Thanks to Barbara, I've added Harold Hagler email address.

Jan 9, 2004 at 19:49:07 Dave Again (Baton Rouge)
The "Hope List" for the mini-reunion is on the bottom of the 2004 page of the EVENTS section.

Jan 10, 2004 at 12:48:23 Ellie (Ft MYers, Fl.)
Yes David, there is a Santa Claus! I know how to make Good Brownies. They are the biggest, thickest, gooiest, chewiest, darkest, mostest of the most chocolate bars with an almost wet middle and a crisp-crunchy top. Absolutely sinful. Pardon me Brad. Bye, Ellie

Jan 11, 2004 at 06:41:43 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING ALL. ELLIE, SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING WE WILL NEED IN PISMO. I'LL HAVE TO COUNT TO SEE IF I HAVE THAT MANY ADJECTIVES IN MY VOCABULARY. I WAS GOING TO SUGGEST TO DAVE THAT I COULD GIVE HIM A RECIPE FOR SOME GOOD FUDGE, BUT, MAYBE I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO LIKES IT. MOST OF YOU HAVE HAD SOME OF IT. ANYWAY, I HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE FEELING GOOD. EXPECT SOMETHING GOOD FROM GOD TODAY. LOVE BRAD

Jan 13, 2004 at 10:34:27 Dave (LoUiSiAna)
Hi, Ellie sent me an excellent item about the value of being an American. You have to see it. It is a little graphic. There are some images I've never seen before. Click on the link on the guest book page and turn on your speaker. I'm sure Ellie's mom or dad could have told us the price of freedom. Also Ellie, anyone can say they make the best brownies. The real proof is the eating. We are on our way to help the jump start the economy of the poor people on the Mississippi gulf coast.

Jan 13, 2004 at 13:55:33 Derek (Alameda)
Wow, what a powerful message. Thank you Ellie, thank you Dave. All is fine here in Alameda... Derek

Jan 13, 2004 at 20:43:19 Ellie (Ft. Myers, Fl.)
David, Ah Hah! And all along I nievely thought that you wanted a recipe but You only want Brownies. So with all due respect, I'll see you in Pismo and if all goes well, I might have a little something for you. How about those Eagles.

Jan 13, 2004 at 20:49:12 ellie (ft. myers, Fl.)
help! how is it that I always get double messages on this guest book thing?

Jan 14, 2004 at 20:25:44 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hi Everyone, Entries to the guest book becomes doubled if you return to the "blue page" that comes up when you click on "Sign GuestBook". You need to close this page when it first comes up using the X in the upper right hand corner of the "blue page" and don't use the return button. When you close the page, then click on the "GuestBook" link of the "Add Guest" page. When you do that the "blue page" is taken out of the circuit. Ellie may I please have your brownie recipe.

Jan 15, 2004 at 22:49:23 WCROW (truckee/palm desert)
Wow!!Ellie the website you sent really hitme. I thought my screen was dirty but it was just my eyes. Thanks for the reminder of who we are. I think I could have been a lawyer after locking horns with my insurance company over the water/ice/mold damage to my house in Donner Lake, I won the case. They will pay the bill afterall. It will be 7-10 grand when all is finished. Ellie you should take up vacatio writing. Very well done on the beach scene, I have bags packed now.I can't make brownies but I am an excellent judge for a taste contest. I am partial to those with nuts inside. Enough talk of football lets turn our attention to the super bowl of fun and BROWNIES. I just finished reading The King of Calif and it should make for some good talks in the hospitality room. Stay safe and healthy. WC

Jan 16, 2004 at 02:55:37 Derek (Alaameda)
Dave. You should know that a recipe from Ellie won't ensure you a good brownie...You need Ellie to read it...Hello everyone...Derek

Jan 16, 2004 at 03:14:58 Derry (Alameda)
OK so I stu-stu-stutter

Jan 16, 2004 at 09:14:58 JimG (Tulare)
Hi everyone,::::Ellie, that was a great way to start the day watching and listening to our heroes. Amazing how all the passages in the early beginning of our country apply to today!::::By the way I want to know what Ellie has been putting in those Brownies that must be a cureall. I might find out if I get in line in front of WC.::::Wayne, glad you whupped the insurance challenge. I also noticed Mel and Elaine Jones are on the going list. Alright, you know Arlene and Elaine need some help from you other girls in playing golf in Pismo.::::JimG::

Jan 18, 2004 at 21:01:00 Ellie (Ft. Myers, FL.)
After much deliberation and discussion with those who are discussable and considering the remunerative possibilities not to mention the effort involved by all and sundrie, I, hereby, devote the next hour to hunting and pecking the following for the benefit of our dear friends who,no doubt, have patiently waited for this calorie hit of all time. (so many words, so little said) David, this one's for you, kickoff time! PALM BEACH BROWNIES 8 oz. unsweetened chocolate: 8 oz. sweet butter; 5 eggs XL; 1tbsp.vanilla extract; 1 tsp. almond extract, 1/4 tsp. salt; 21/2 tbsp. instant expresso dry or instant coffee; 3 3/4 cups granulated sugar; 1 2/3 cups sifted all-purpose flour; 8 oz. walnut halves or large pieces. assembly_- to be continued.........__________

Jan 21, 2004 at 13:39:12 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Ellie, how long do I leave these ingredients laying out on the cabinet? I'm worrying about the butter and eggs. The coffee can't stay fresh this long and the stupid cat ate the chocolate. More about the November picnic: The Coffee Pot in Morro Bay is closed in December and not November. Of course you can go there on your own.

Jan 21, 2004 at 14:22:40 Ellie!1 (Ft. Myers)
David - I had hoped you wouldn't notice or one of the ladies would come in on this and offer up their recommendations, but they're probably occupied with more meaningful tasks as such as I was just moments ago with the screen man mending the cage and the vacuum going, the dog barking etc. But-----since it's you and all those ingredients are sitting on the counter, if I were Rosemary, I'd probably run you out of the kitchen. There's one good thing that came from this.::The cat ate the chocolate! That's 3 times the antioxidents compared to bracolli. ::So it's never a lost cause. Yes, I'll be back to you ina minute. I have to bake for my son's meals on wheels delivery tomorrow. He's working and I worry how he feeds himself so I runout to Sanibel and deliver on Thursdays. It's not exactly feeding the poor or infirm, cause I feed the infirm on Tues. and Fri. I think the young and middle aged have forgotten what a home-cooked meal is. Lest we forget

Jan 21, 2004 at 14:43:27 BillyC (IN/OH)
Time really flies when you're having fun, or the temp is below freezing all the time. This afternoon it is up to 33 degrees. I can't really complain, my son in MA is going through really cold weather, here it is only a little cold. The DL and I had a great time in Spain, Morocco, and Portugal over her winter break. We had three families from Orange County, and two from Fresno on our trip with us, plus people from Canada, three groups from Australia, Bermuda and South Africa. And three Cuban girls from Miami, one of whom the DL is bound to get tied up with our son in MA. Spain is really nice, I could spend a lot more time there, five days in Morocco was enough, except for Casablanca - we didn't have enough time there but it is a more European atmosphere rather than Moroccan. Portugal was more like Spain - not much different except for the language, which again wasn't much different. The DL is now taking Spanish lessons, and a trip to Mexico for the Spring vacation is planned. We got to see the Tagus River in Toledo and in Lisbon. Much like the Kaweah and the Amazon in comparison. We saw 2003 become 2004 at Lisbon's celebration, with 3 Cubans, 2 Spaniards, and 3 Taiwanese + a whole gaggle of Portuguese. It was my first time a a celebration like that - quite interesting. Spent Christmas in Marrakesh, they even had a very skinny Santa walking around passing out candies. We're running out of warm places to go for Xmas break, maybe next year we'll go to Tahiti or Hawaii.

Jan 21, 2004 at 16:50:36 Ellie (Ft. Myers Fl.)
Welcome home!! Wow, what a trip you had. My feet hurt just reading about it. Will we see any snaps?

Jan 21, 2004 at 22:49:59 BillyC (IN/OH)
That was just a rough sketch. Yes, I do have pictures, too, just haven't burned them to a CD yet. I have them downloaded to my hard drive. I just wish I could unlock my Reno pictures also. That'll wait until I get my new computer in a couple of months, or I can talk one of the sons into getting it for me. They want a Dell, I want an HP. When I get the pictures burned, I will send them for you to see, if you want them. This was the first trip the DL admitted that my pictures came out better than hers from her funny camera. That's really new. Now she wants me to take the video camera nexttime. OH well, what's a little more weight to carry around.

Jan 23, 2004 at 15:46:58 Ellie (Ft. Myers Fl.)
Icicles hanging off my bikini!! But I have my trusty touque. ::What's a Touque you ask? It's Canadian for a Wooly Cap with pom-pom on top, Symbolic of the northland and sometimes can be seen in Minnesota.::::David, I'm ready to send in my dues and I'm sure there are others who feel the same. Where was the designated place??::::::::::

Jan 24, 2004 at 20:22:53 Dave (B Rouge)
Dues! I don't remember who was in charge of collect or how much it was. If anyone knows, post it here. I guess for the picnic in November, bring the money with you and pay as you go. Ellie, once you write in the add guest and click on "Sign Guest Book" you can no longer make changes. There is no review. The only thing I can do is delete a entire item.

Jan 24, 2004 at 23:37:03 BRAD (VISALIA)
HELLO CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. THE SUGGESTION WAS MADE BY WAYNE THAT WE CHIP IN $15/ YEAR/ CLASSMATE. THE MONEY GOES TO OUR CLASS TREASURER, VERA. AT LEAST, THAT IS THE WAY I REMEMBER IT. LOVE BRAD

Jan 25, 2004 at 13:12:53 Ellie (Florida)
Yes, Brad, that's how I heard it too, so I e-mailed Vera but I got no answer. Since I really don't trust myself yet that everything I send gets through, and that may be a blessing,::I wonder if someone else might try to confirm.

Jan 25, 2004 at 20:35:00 Betty (Visalia)
It is great to hear from everyone. Ellie, after the holidays and a weeks vacation in D.C. & New York, my jeans are getting is little tight reading your Brownie Receipt. Last week I stepped off the plane in New York to 7 degrees. I have never been so cold. The next day it was 17 and beautiful. We had a great time. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Pismo. Still need your input. We want to have a very casual fun time. ::Sorry to hear all the sad news. Thats the real reason to enjoy everyday, we never know what tommorrow will bring.::::Take care all,::Betty

Jan 25, 2004 at 23:20:22 BillyC (In/Oh)
Wow. Wow. All kinds of people are writing now. It's sure nice to hear from more people on here now. Betty, I'm glad you guys finally got to feel some low digit weather. I know I was surprised in Korea the first time it reached single digits, then it dropped below zero and stayed there from the middle of November until March. Dave and those guys down South sent some nasty weather this way last night. First snow, then sleet, then freezing rain. Freezing rain when the temperature is only 21 is really nasty. Ellie, the icicles on the bikinis here were about 21 inches long. The first time I've seen the Cincinnati Public Schools announce a closure the night before, they usually wait until 4:00 am to announce their closures. Fortunately, in about 4 weeks, this will all be behind us.::

Jan 27, 2004 at 10:30:39 Bill Rose (Columbia, MO)
Good Morning....It's 13° with 5 inches of snow on the ground in Columbia. Wish I had headed south two weeks ago. Went out to let the dog out and our driveway had already been cleared. Oh the joys of living in a subdivision where all your yard maintenance is taken care of by the association.

Jan 27, 2004 at 20:20:19 Ellie (Florida)
Better yet, my friend, is having no snow!!! How are you and yours?? Hope to see you at Pismo. Ellie

Jan 28, 2004 at 08:47:27 Dave (Baton Rouge)
What a lucky day. I have received a message from a gentleman who had to flee his home in Zimbabwe taking with only 16 million dollars US. To assist him with getting the money into a US bank he is giving me over half the money. The letter was will written and only had 8% misspelled words. Isn't that great.

Jan 28, 2004 at 11:16:32 Bill Rose (Columbia, MO)
And just how much money do you have to put in a special account as "good trust money"? WHAT A DEAL

Jan 28, 2004 at 12:59:20 Patty (Chanute, Ks.)
Dave & Rosemary,::What a Wonderful Blessing!!!!::Love, Patty

Jan 29, 2004 at 09:01:13 JimG (Tulare)
Dave/Rosemary::::All you have to do is send the man your bank account number and he will deposit your share in it . . . After he does that we can all go to Chumash Casino over by Pismo . . . Wow Rosemary look at all the coins you can play in those machines with your new found fortune!::::JimG::

Jan 29, 2004 at 09:21:01 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Wouldn't you know, another fortune lost. I got so excited, I deleted the gentleman's email. I guess the slots will have to wait A few days before some other con..I mean..Gentleman emails me.

Jan 29, 2004 at 09:43:44 Ellie (Florida)
You mean I have to unpack, Turn the water back on and reverse the mail? BOO-HOO !!!!!

Jan 30, 2004 at 08:04:35 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I got a email from Jacque saying she is having problem getting on the site because of the , I think, drop down menu's. Is anyone else having problems? I guess if you were you wouldn't be reading this. Tell me what you think of the drop down menu.

Jan 30, 2004 at 08:53:25 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, DAVE, I'M SORRY YOU LOST YOUR OPPORTUNITY. THAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET TOO EXCITED. DON'T WORRY THOUGH, I'LL SEND YOU ANOTHER ONE IN A FEW DAYS. I ALSO HAVE A BRIDGE FOR YOU IN BROOKLYN THAT I'M SURE YOU'LL WANT. AS FOR THE DROP-DOWN, IT WORKS FOR ME. WE HAVE ANOTHER GREAT DAY TO LOOK FORWARD TO. GOD BLESS, LOVE BRAD

Jan 30, 2004 at 11:09:03 Bill Rose (Columbia, MO)
Dave,::::Drop down works for me, at least I guess it does as I don't seem to be missing anything. Keep up the good work.

Jan 30, 2004 at 12:12:17 Patty (Chanute, Ks)
Dave, So far I haven't had any trouble with the Drop-Down. Just took me a bit to make the change after being so use to the other way. Now, if you get to much more fancier, I'll probably have to start sending my notes with a 37 cent stamp and send them by US Mail. When I call my boys on a Computer problem, they keep telling me, "Mom, Did You Keep The Box".::

Jan 31, 2004 at 12:58:05 wcrow (palm desert)
Wow,so many thoughts to read . We are back in sunny Palm Deset where it is abot 68 today. I thought the dues were to be a voluntary $15 to be sent to Vera . I will do that today.I have purchased a new notebook Toshiba and upgraded to AOL 9.0 and so I am having some problems with finding all of my files, favorites, etc. Looks like I will have to start over. I talked with a techie in Banglasesh, Pakistan, or somewhere yesterday and she assured me-bery,bery much that I would have no problem, I just couldn't undersand what she was saying to me. I had a third visit to the doctor to remove more of the bad spot on my pate andI sure hope this is the last time. The bald head is going tobe covered up by the side hair pulled up tight. Nice to know you are all well and still writing. Time to go loose some more golf balls.

A man had great tickets for the Super Bowl. As he sits down, another man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him. "No," he says. "The seat is empty." "This is incredible!" said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?" He says, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we haven't been to together since we got married." "Oh ... I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shakes his head. "No. They're all at the funeral."

Wow, what to say? I'm really impressed, there are people writing in this thing, I'm getting behind, or something. But now I will have the first post in 2/04 I feel better. I can't believe it, we are supposed to hit 40 degrees today, Saturday night was -12. I need to get my shorts out. Unfortunately, my bikini no longer fits, it's too big.

Ooops. I forgot, Dave - the drop downs cause no problem here, it's just those gremlims that keep moving the keys to different places on the keyboard that kause me prolbmes.

GOOD MORNING BOYS AND GIRLS, I RAN ACROSS AN IQ TEST THIS MORNING I THOUGHT WAS FUN. I SCORED 1 POINT HIGHER THAN MY SCORE IN HIGH SCHOOL. I WAS QUITE SUPPRISED. YOU CAN FIND IT @ http://web.tickle.com/tests/uiq/authorize/register.jsp?url=/tests/uiq/processing.jsp IF YOU HAVE TIME, TRY IT. REMEMBER, IT IS AN ADVERTISEMENT, BUT IT IS FREE. I HOPE YOU ARE ALL DOING WELL. LAST NIGHT I MADE A BATCH OF FUDGE (I KNOW, CHOCOLATE IS SINFUL), BUT, I JUST HAD TO HAVE SOME. HAVE A GREAT DAY. LOVE BRAD

Feb 3, 2004 at 09:14:13 Ellie (Fla.)
Brad, I'd like to try it as soon as I learn to transfer the address to the search bar. I'm learning but it's not coming at me by Osmosis. Had my second class at library.

Feb 6, 2004 at 17:03:27 BillyC (Not Sure)
Well, the temp went way up to almost 40 today. When I went out to go to breakfast, I rushed out and smashed the rear window on my car - $328.00. Tuesday when I went out, I pushed the button on my key chain to unlock the car, and I pulled the handle off - it was only 14 that day -$238.00. I was lucky when I got to Toyota over in Cinci, they said it would take 3-4 days to get the part in and sent me to the Parts Dept. They had the part in stock that someone else ordered in January and never came in to get it, so they let me have it, literally and figuretively. $75.00 for a door handle and 2.5 hours to install it. I promise not to wreck my car again (until the next time).

Billy C ::::Maybe you should just park the car . . . Sounds like it would be a lot cheaper! Or maybe just wait 'til summer.::If you just drive in the summer you could buy a rag top!::::JimG::

Billy, Take the Bus!

Feb 9, 2004 at 09:16:58 BillyC (Afoot)
Ellie, have you ever lived in smaller town than Corcoran. There is no bus here. If it snows in Indianapolis, they shut the schools down, and make it a snow emergency. I think the car gods are trying to make up for a boring past.

Feb 10, 2004 at 16:12:16 Ellie (Fla.)
Well, I was in Elwood Indiana once for a day. Reminded me of our beloved Corcoran. And I happen to have a collection of St. Clair Glass which has been for sale for years. That must mean something,Billy.

Feb 10, 2004 at 16:33:04 BillyC (IN)
Yes, it means something, plus you've been to Bluffton, OH, also, so that has double meaning.

Feb 11, 2004 at 18:57:23 David (Baton Rouge)
So far, we have 27 individuals that are planning to attend the picnic in Pismo. Two have registered at the Inn. Take a look go to Events, then 2004. After a long search of the internet, I discovered that St. Clair Glass was made in Elwood, IN. I haven't been able to determine why anyone would want to go to Bluffton, OH. or a connection between Bluffton and Elwood. Unless it's like Barstow, CA. and everyone has to stop there. It has been raining here since early yesterday and they expect it to continue for a couple of more days. However, four days of rain is not unusual here. Louisiana is the only place I've been where you can find live fish in mud puddles

Hi All,::Just a note to let you know that we should be able to go back home tomorrow from Overland Park Regional Hospital in K.C. And hopefully I will be able to get back in the Classmate Groove again. Darold has been having trouble for a couple weeks with his Heart and he went in last Thursday and had 1 Stint put in his Heart and then had to go back a couple days later and have 3 more Stints put in. The reason they had to wait was because of a Kidney Malfunction. Two years ago he had 1 Stint put in after having a 3-Way By-Pass done, so now he has a total of 5-Stints to go along with that. Guess he'd better keep away from any Magnets!!! He is doing real good now, but it was a little tramatic on the last 3-Stints, because they ran into some trouble at the top of his heart, and he had a small heart-attack, but Thank God, he was already on the table. His Heart is now in real good shape, Thanks To Modern Medicine & Great Doctors, and hopefully he'll feel like a "Young Teenager" again. We've been away for over a week now & real anxious to get back home and in the Groove again. Well Wishes To All Of You, Patty

Feb 12, 2004 at 05:32:07 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES, HOPE EVERYONE OS WELL. PATTY, IT'S GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU. SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT DAROLD, BUT GLAD HE HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF. HE IS IN MY PRAYERS (AS ALL OF YOU ARE). I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING HIM IN PISMO THIS YEAR. WOW, THREE REUNIONS TO LOOK FORWARD TO: 11/04, FALL/06, AND 2056. I HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE PLANNING TO GO SEE MEL GIBSON'S MOVIE "THE PASSION" THAT WILL BE STARTING FEB. 25TH IN THEATERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. BLESSINGS TO ALL, HAVE A GREAT DAY, LOVE BRAD

Patty, Glad to hear that Darold is doing well. I'm sure there has been a lot of stress with all the medical attention. Our recent weather conditions probably added to your problems. Good that you guys are home and enjoying life.

Feb 12, 2004 at 12:15:57 Betty Grant (Visalia)
Good Morning everyone from sunny Visalia, Calif. Beautiful weather here today, bright sunshine. We just got back home from a trip to Vegas. We went to see Celine Dion. We went to pick up tickets, her show had been canceled due to illness. First time in 14 yrs. she had to cancel. Just our luck. So I guess we will just have to plan another trip.::Glad to see a good response to our mini reunion.::I saw Don Gilkey at a bar-b-que last night, he is doing well, having some problems, but he played golf yesterday and they were making a trip to Palm Desert today. He doesn't drive any longer. His son, Kirk, drives them in their motorhome. He told me Louie Florence was in the hospital, he has a heart problem, but he was doing well. He as moved to Tulare as well as Linden Crow. ::Good to hear from everyone, hope all is well.::::Have a good day,::Betty Grant

Feb 14, 2004 at 08:12:49 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING BOYS AND GIRLS. I REMEMBER IN SCHOOL WHEN WE USED TO TAKE A VALENTINE CARD FOR EVERYONE IN THE CLASS. IT WAS A FUN DAY. TODAY, WE HAVE A DIFFERENT TYPE OF MEDIA, SO, VIA INTERNET, I WISH YOU ALL A VERY SPECIAL VALENTINE'S DAY. ELLIE, THANKS FOR THE REMINDER, BUT, ON MARCH 23RD, I WILL HAVE 48 MARRIED YEARS WITH THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN AN IMPORTANT DATE YET. I HOPE I GO HOME BEFORE I DO. LOVE YOU ALL. GOD BLESS, BRAD

Feb 15, 2004 at 10:10:04 Ellie (Cloudy, Fla.)
Valentines Day was always special with the girls. I remember back to the early days when I got myself into a tizzy over the choosing of the right ones storebought versus the homemade ones and how to distribute these equally so as not to offend anyone. Politically correct was not even coined then yet I'm sure we all searched for the one most appropriate for each person.::::And this reminiscing brings back another memory of a shoebox that had to be decorated for a Sadie Hawkins Day dance. Once again the tizzie came back; the challenge was on to create the finest shoebox with a lunch inside for the highest bidder. Remember Ladies?::::Remember the dances we decorated, the sockhops? I'm sure I have the right school, don't I.?::::Then there were the adventures of the Band and the sargeanettes?? Was that the name? I'm not sure. The childhood memories are coming back gradually thanks to this website. ::It's a wonderful thing to have memories while still giving it our best shot forward.::As my friend always says "Living well is the best revenge."::::::

Brad,::::My Grandson made Valentine Cards for all his classmates (2nd Grade)and inside the Valentine Cards he put Football Trading Cards. It's raining and with nothing to do; I've added music to four of the site pages. GuestBook, Members, Graduations and Photos. It added 10 MB to the site and will cause those four site to download slower. Because I'm on cable, I don't notice the time. I need some feedback from some of you that are having trouble opening the pages. Also, the Disney Co. has rejected my take over bid. They are interested and want me to up it some. They want me to add nine zero to the end of my proposal. That's no problem. I have lots of zeros.

Feb 17, 2004 at 13:11:02 Ellie (Fla.)
David, does the music come in automatically similiar to Musak or do I press a button, is it hum along?

Feb 18, 2004 at 08:47:56 JimG (Tulare)
Dave,::::If your bid for Disney is completed make sure it includes a sound system . . . Can't hear anything but it does take longer to download. Who knows maybe it is the DL . . . Damn Laptop.::::JimG::

Jim / Ellie can you hear the music on "Remember the Blood of Heroes" or "Through My Window" from the previous page? OK, the sun is out today time to finish off the guest room. I'll remove the music from the four pages. Sorry! Ellie at the least you can play videos on your computer. I'll email one of my favorites. You and Willie can watch it together. I'm sure Willie will enjoy it

Wow! We have had 23 relatives from Pat's family visiting us here in the desert to escape trhe snow of minnesota so I have been sorta busy. Most are gone now and others leave next week. They didn't all stay here with us but rented places. Lab report was good this last time and my head is cleared from futher cutouts. Now I will change doctors before they call me back again. Patty I hope Derold gets better each day and can come to our next get together. Ellie I do remember the card days and the fun we had in school. Dave, I thought I rescued Disney from financial troubles last year when we went to Orlando and spent more money on just 2 adults than I could imagine. Do they need more ? The class dues issue was to be voluntary for $15. So if anyone is so inclined send it to Vera. More later.WC

Feb 19, 2004 at 18:50:06 Dave (Baton Rouge)

Feb 24, 2004 at 14:12:30 Dave (Baton Rouge)
The book on Boswell bothered me every time it referred to Corcoran as a company town. To me Corcoran was an agriculture town. Most of the residence were involved directly or indirectly with farming. If there was one farmer in the town then it would be a company town. I lived and worked in Corcoran for about 5 years after leaving the army and worked for a deep well pump company. About 90% of the work was agriculture. Of that, only about 10% of the agriculture work was done for Boswell and Salyers. The rest was a huge list of farmers. Rosemary's dad worked for Boswell and to make sure I knew what I was talking about, I asked her if she thought Corcoran is a company town? She said,"Yes, it is!" So there you have it.

Feb 24, 2004 at 17:49:26 BillyC (IN/OH)
From as far back, to my ealiest memories, my father worked at Boswell's until he quit and we moved to Texas when I was in the 3rd grade, we came back in March the next year, and he went back to work for Boswell. Up until he went to Corcoran Implement sometime later. When I was in New Haven, in the late 50's there was a article in Time magazine about the farm subsidy program, and they listed the top 5 companies in the US - Boswell and Salyer's made the top 5. Maybe the writer of the book thought it was a company town, but it looks like it was a two company town, at least. Of course my earliest memories are of peddling a little red fire wagon up and down the sidewalk in from the the home we rented on Whitley and riding to the park it back of the place and playing in the wading pool.

Feb 26, 2004 at 08:32:59 JimG (Tulare)
Hi everyone,::::I remember my first job in Corcoran was a summer job for Crocket & Gambogy checking grain out in the lake bottom. My Mom lined up the jobs for Stan, Wayne and myself. I remember every time driving to work in my 37 Oldsmobile that if a highway patrolman went by he would turn around and stop me because I was so small then that I could barely see over the steering wheel even with a pillow to sit on. So I guess Dave might be correct in that there were many different farmers in the farming community . . . Now remember Rosemary I said he MIGHT be right!::::JimG::\

Feb 26, 2004 at 10:16:06 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Since Boswell has purchased Salyers and Gambogy, I guess you can say it is a company town today. I don't know where you would put Boyett, Hansen, Gilkey or all the other local large farmers. Any would be the largest farmer in Ohio. You mention the Corcoran Implement. Did you know the owners were mostly local farmers? Boswell or Salyers were not involved. There was a feud between Boswell and Salyers. I interview with Boswell just before graduating from Fresno State. When they discovered my Grandfather had been Salyers top man for years and my Uncle still worked for Salyers, the interview abruptly ended. Jim I remember the Olds. I remember you couldn't keep a windshield in it. Oh yea, the summers in the lake bottom. I started working in the grain harvest when I was 12.

Feb 26, 2004 at 13:28:46 BillyC (In/Oh)
Large farms in In or Oh? They don't even have counties in these places as large as Boswell or Salyers farmlands. They were larger than several states. My first job was for Salyers out a grain loading place South of town, I lasted two days and got fired for being to small to climb into the back of the trucks quick enough. It wasn't much fun working in the sun when its over 100 degrees in long sleeve shirts. The Air Force was a lot easier.

Feb 28, 2004 at 08:27:10 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE. I WENT TO SEE THE PASSION THURSDAY NIGHT. IT IS AWESOME. HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN IT? I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING CONTROVERSIAL ABOUT IT. IT WAS ME. GOOD MORNING EVERYONE THIS IS YOUR SELF APPOINTED PASTOR FOR THE CORCORAN CLASS OF '56. I WISH WE HAD A WORLD CLASS SUPER CHRISTIAN, BUT SINCE NONE HAS STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE, I APPOINTED MYSELF. I WROTE A LITTLE EXPLANATION FOR MEL GIBSON'S MOVIE THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. IF ANYONE WOULD CARE TO READ IT, YOU CAN FIND IT ON MY WEB SITE AT THE ADDRESS http://hometown.aol.com/bgg721/myhomepage/index.html MAYBE DAVE COULD MAKE IT HOT SO YOU COULD GO THERE WITH ONE CLICK. OTHERWISE, YOU COULD COPY AND PASTE IT IN YOUR WEB ADDRESS SPACE. MY JOB IS TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE MAKES IT TO HEAVEN. THERE WILL BE NO PRESSURE, BUT I THERE WILL BE REMINDERS. HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY WITH GOD'S BLESSINGS. LOVE BRAD

Feb 29, 2004 at 12:39:03 Ellie (Fla.)
Brad, I do indeed, admire YOUR passion. Passion in any form shows great strength, but for myself, I'm having a little trouble over the controversy. Having followed the opinions of Christians and Jews there is more here to analyse than just the religious aspect. I'm awaiting more comments tonite and I will see the film myself, quietly and studiously. Thank you for having all of us in your prayers. :: Sincerely, Ellie

BILL AND PATTY, BLESS YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU MADE ME CRY. THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS. AND, OUR PRAYERS DO COUNT. OUR LITTLE GIANNA IS DOING WELL TODAY. I TALKED TO ROBERT THIS MORNING. HE SAID I KNEW SHE WOULD BE ALL RIGHT. THAT'S WHY I CALLED TO HAVE YOU PRAY. AS YOU SAID PATTY, IT'S GOOD TO SEE GOD'S HAND AT WORK. THERE IS A REASON FOR EVERYTHING. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU BILL & SONJA AND DAROLD & PATTY. HOPEFULLY IN PISMO THIS NOV. LOVE BRAD

Brad and Bev, I am sorry to hear about your great granddaughter, She is in our prayers too. But if it is Navy hospital, they do a good job with things. Great granddaughter, Huh. I can't even get my sons married off, so I guess we'll never see one of those, or the other kind. We went from single digit weather to 50's and 60's in two days, but it feels colder now, strange isn't it.

Mar 4, 2004 at 22:09:36 BRAD (VISALIA)
HELLO CLASSMATES, OUE LITTLE GREAT GRAND BABY IS DOING WELL NOW. THANK YOU BILLY AND ALL OF THE REST OF YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS. YES BILLY, SHE IS IN THE NAVY HOSPITAL THERE AT PENDELTON. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, THEY ARE GIVING THEM VERY GOOD CARE. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR PRAYERS. LOVE BRAD

Mar 5, 2004 at 13:13:03 BillyC (IN)
Great news, Brad. Glad to hear she is doing okay. When my younger son was born, his older brother was only 13 months old. When I took to the DL in to the hospital, They had a real fit since I was carrying #1,and they sent me home cause I couldn't have him there with Mom,too. It was about 3:00am, and I had to drive him around in his baby seat to get him back to sleep. When I finally got home and him back in bed, the hospital called and said they had to do an emergency caesarian on the DL because #2's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, and his heart rate had dropped from 200 to 60, so they went ahead and did the operation without my authorization. Anyway, things all worked out okay but the DL was really pissed at me for the zipper in her belly. She may have gotten over it by now.

Mar 6, 2004 at 01:27:14 Jacqueline (San Luis Obispo)
I'm back.........! Finally figured out how to do the update myself. My computer wizkid keeps postponing his visit. I've been able to read but not add my thoughts. Brad was here for dinner Wednesday night. We are making plans and hope to have you all help make the final decision at the mini reunion this fall. Talk about small worlds, I loaned my Boswell book to a good friend after I read it and made all kinds of notes in it. He asked me if I knew Don Gilkey, seems he played football at Cal with Don.

Mar 9, 2004 at 21:12:48 Dave (Baton Rouge)
The weather here has really been nice. Blue sky and 72 degrees temperature. It hit 81 one day. We have flowers coming out all around. But, it is going to rain tomorrow, then the temperature will drop. The guest room is complete. The new patio is built in my head. Now, after the old one is torn-down, I need make a material list and put it together. Been a lot of people coming to the site. Need some to stop and tell us what they think and/or where to go.

Mar 10, 2004 at 14:29:40 BillyC (In)
I agree with Dave, I hit the 100 mark the other day, and now it's in the 80's really quick. Say something, it doesn't have to be importent, lord knows I put enough stuff here that doesn't mean anything. We hit 70 Saturday, it was 24 last night, upper 40s today, going back up Saturday, back down on Sunday - Spring in the midwest. We had 45 - 50 mph winds over the weekend, no storms, just blowy.

Mar 10, 2004 at 16:50:46 Ellie (Fla.)
You really want to know about weather? How about this. We were in the pool yesterday, glorious! And as soon as the tourists leave we can go back to the beach. I needed to turn the pool heater on just a bit because if it isn't hovering around 85 I can't stand it. I don't know what happened to the person who used to swim in the lakes of Canada Wilderness with never a care. Just roll out of the tent, a little bear grease,a shot of juice and you're in. Just seconds and you're numb, paralysed, in pain, but the whole ordeal is definitely worth it in the name of invigorating and getting the day started at 6am. All that was in another life. I loved it!::The plants are doing well. There are impatiens in different colors and all the jungley greens, bird of paradise just bloomed, geraniums are in windowboxes. There really is no down time for growing. Something is always available to bloom, which helps your spirit and your health.::Very soon all the northerners will begin to sprout, the birds come back to sing their song, having rehearsed elsewhere for the winter and the sun will shine brightly again giving warmth and that wonderful feeling of well-being just as you've burned your last piece of firewood.

Mar 11, 2004 at 10:28:30 BillyC (In/Oh)
Thanks for the warm up, Ellie. It's in the 30's, a miserable blowy drizzle making it sloppy outside right now. Fortunlately, the last snow storm went South of us and hit North Carolina - Hah.

Mar 11, 2004 at 16:55:33 BillyC (In/Oh)
That was this morning, it's now 54 and sunny, going down to 20 degrees with snow and rain tonight. Yeah, I love Midwestern Weather.

Mar 11, 2004 at 23:13:21 BillyC (In/Oh)
Whoa, is it cold again outside. And I thought the wea in San Antonio was weird. It is in the lower 20's, going all the way up to the 30's tomorrow, 50's the next day, then up in the 60's on Sunday. I guess it's better than single digits for over 10 days in a row.

Mar 12, 2004 at 01:04:11 Jacqueline (SLO)
Speaking of weather, Tuesday it was 79, Wednesday 84 in SLO and 86 in Morro Bay, 91 in Santa Barbara! Today ait was 83. It is making the weeds grow soooooo fast. The orchard is the worst, this year Jose is in charge so let it grow. Ellie you are lucky my impatients don't do good until May or June. We get some frost and they are gone so I replant every year. Billy the mid west sounds like it's cold all the time. What do you do for excitement? I hope you've started writing your book, you've had so many adventures it would be interesting to read.::Having lunch with Gordon Lu, going to see if he might have room for t\some of the class for breakfast or lunch....Betty G. asked me if I'd check. Knowing Gordon he'll move something around. Gordon has alread gifted several schools with his profit from his book. He's setting up a scolarship fund to help Children in the area. He speaks to all kinds of groups and still runs his restaurant 7 days a week. ::Ellie, we still have the Polar Bear swim on New Year's day in Cayucos, it's usually about noon it might remind you of your Canadian swims Next year I have to do it because I lost a bet, I'm sure I can since a friend who is 80 does it every year. bye...Bob wants me to click on the cat house.

Mar 12, 2004 at 09:45:31 BillyC (In/Oh)
Well, it made it into the teens last night, up to 38 later on today. The last night we were in Madrid, the DL and I spent a while in the Atocha train station, where we also caught the subway back to the hotel. It really is a shame that people have to do these nasty things. The station there was even nicer by far that Grand Cenral Station in New York City.

I probably don't need to ask but I'm curious. Who is Gordon Lu? Is he a classmate?

Mar 12, 2004 at 20:15:34 Dave (BR, LA)
Ellie talking about the plants in Fort Myers reminds me of a trip we made last year to Marie Shelby Gardens in Sarasota Florida. It is an open-air and under-glass museum of thousands of orchids and bromeliads. The place is, if you are not living in Florida, an out door garden of indoor plants. You can stroll winding pathways along Sarasota Bay. There are Banyans trees, Mangroves grow in flooded saltwater areas. Hibiscus bloom there throughout the year. There are more than 2,500 species of palms. The bromeliads are huge and growing up in the trees. The Shelby's were the major owners of Texaco and this was a vacation home.

Wow! Take a trip for a week and one gets so far behind the classmates it is hard to catch up. Brad i am so glad your new ggd is doing well. I said a prayer for her continued improvement. I just found out that I will be a ggp soon so it is special to me that we are sharing this together as we shared so many events in the early years in Corcoran.Pat and I went to Donner Lake to hire a good conntractor to start our repairs on the cabin and I feel we got a good one. We drove back on 395 and saw the snoe covered Sierras at their best. 300 hundred miles of eyepopping vistas! Alas, while we were away the weather turned to the 90's and some of Pat's flowers didn't survive. That seems to be a rout9ine thing with us. GArdening in the desert is just digging holes and putting money in them. Only the cacti love this place. Jackie, who is the friend from Cal, I might know him also. I hope all of you are doing well. This is fun to keep in touch this way.

Hey, Jacque, it was 19 last night, but it is near 50 now, but our weeds are still green and growing here, too. They don't wait til it's in the 80's.

HOPFULLY YOU WILL GET TO MEET HIM IN NOV. I HAD A GREAT TIME AT JACQUE AND JOHN'S HOUSE. THEY HAVE A BEAUTIFUL PLACE OVERLOOKING SAN LUIS OBISPO. I FEEL SO GOOD. I HOPE ALL OF YOU FEEL THE SAME. Thank you Brad for letting me know about Gordon. I look forward to meeting him and maybe sharing Dim Sum with the gang. ::All's well at the homefront. Your welling being comes straight through the message.::Just got back from The Film. Time to digest.

Hi Ellie, It looks like you are stuck at the bottom of the page. I decided to step in and bail you out. Now I'm stuck down here unless someone else can help me. Remember everyone: mail your $15 class donation to Vera and reserve a room in Pismo Beach.

Mar 17, 2004 at 18:18:18 Patty (Chanute, Ks.)
Hi All,::"Top Of The Day To Everyone". May you all have a real "HAPPY ST.PATRICK'S DAY". Best Wishes, Patty

Hi everyone,::::We have been busy the past 6 weeks trying to follow Wayne & Pat's ordeal at their Donner Lake home. Our mobile home in Pismo received major damage by a high wind storm in early February and now it is our turn to find contractor's etc. like they are having to do. We are having to travel back and forth almost every weekend to try to get things back to normal. As of now almost everything is in place to get things started. Talk to everyone later.::::JimG::

This is a private message to David and Rosemary posted on the site because I cannot reach them. Do not read this . David , I need to contact you about my trip to New Orleans and the emails keep coming back. Streshly thinks I am computer ignorant so please don't tell him I had to go to the public arena to find you. Other classmates please do not read this message. Dave send me your email. Please.

Good thinking. If you don't want someone to read a entry, just put "do not read" on it.

Mar 20, 2004 at 16:25:19 Jacqueline (SLO )
Wayne, I love it, Do you stop and ask for directions when your lost? I have been out real estate hunting for the past week with a friend from San Diego. If anyone is waiting to buy a place anywhere between Oceano and Cambria, you might be too late. Scott made an offer of 575k cash on a property listed at 609k and all they did is laugh. The sales price is the start price for a bid war. If you own property in Cayucos, Morro Bay, Cambria, Pismo etc. go ride around and see what is selling for over 1/2 a million. Within the year most beach property, including a pup tent with a butane burner will be over a million. About the Mini reunion this fall... How many of you are coming early? There is a reason for the question, let me know.!!

Mar 21, 2004 at 09:40:46 Bill R (Columbia MO)
What do you mean "Early". I will be visiting my sister, Florence, and expect to be in the area for a couple of weeks.

Mar 24, 2004 at 18:42:31 Jacqueline T. (SLO)
Halloween is what I mean by early, thought there might be a few who would like to "trick or treat"!

Mar 26, 2004 at 12:23:28 Betty Grant (Visalia)
Good Morning,::Sounds like everyone is doing well. Ellie, I seem to get caught up in your comments, I feel like I'm reading a novel. Good work. Yes Wayne, I certainly would not think of reading a "please do not read" comment. However I do agree with Bill.::We're looking forward to the Mini Reunion, we have:: dinner arrangements completed for a setdown dinner on Tues. and Nate is working on the bar-b-que. for Mon. afternoon. Pray for good weather. ::We've been busy traveling from one end of the state to the other to see our grandson play baseball. He plays for Menlo College and they do spend a lot of time on the road. ::Hope all is well with everyone.::::See you::Betty::::::::

Thank you Betty. If you have the time you might enjoy Through My Window. It's a recommended site on our guest book page. Regards, Ellie

Good Morning,::It is Sat. morning, another beautiful day in sunny Calif. I did go to the site yesterday, yes it is beautiful. If everyone not checked it out you need to do so. It has feelings. A minute to realize what is really important. ::::A good weekend to everyone,::Betty

Sid,::::I finally figured a way to get Sid to write a note . . . I need to know when you Grandson is playing anywhere close so I can take my Grandson to watch the game with you guys. This is a pickoff play at first like a couple of years ago when we played little league in Corcoran.::::JimG::

Mar 29, 2004 at 10:31:26 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD LUCK JIM. HELLO CLASSMATES. YESTERDAY WE WENT TO VICTORVILLE TO SEE OUR GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER. BEVERLY WAS AT THE HOSPITAL THE DAY AFTER SHE WAS BORN, BUT IT WAS MY FIRST SIGHT OF HER. WE FELL IN LOVE. SHE HELD MY HAND. (MAYBE PICS ON THE SNAPSHOT PAGE) HOW EXCITING. WAYNE, THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO. AND, I'M SURE MANY MORE OF YOU WILL (OR ALREADY ARE) GET TO SHARE THE JOY OF BEING A GREAT GRAND PARENT. LOVE BRAD

Mar 29, 2004 at 14:22:37 David (Baton Rouge)
Its raining! We haven't had rain in 10 days. I hope the drought is over. Jim, I think you'd have better luck smearing garlic on a weir wolf. Went to the store to pick up some pinto bean. The check-out lady wanted to know what we did with pinto beans. I said you made chili beans with them. Will I never heard of that she said. I started to say thats the way its done in California, but I knew better. Added pictures of Brad's Great Grad Daughter to the site. One in family and one on his page.

Mar 29, 2004 at 15:41:50 BillyC (In/Oh)
What else would you do with Pinto Beans????

Mar 29, 2004 at 23:30:15 BillyC (In/Oh)
Oh yeah, While I was growing up in Corcoran, Mom used to feed us pinto beans and cornbread at least 2 to 3 times a week. It was my favorite growing up.

Mar 30, 2004 at 17:54:53 David Gilbert (Baton Rouge)
Hey Billy, in the book about JG Boswell, the liberal writers said after a generation in Corcoran, we all talked with a Okie twang. They missed that we all ate Okie food. Pinto beans and corn bread. Next time you are in New England, try buying pinto beans in a grocery store.

Mar 30, 2004 at 18:03:04 BillyC (Brookville,IN)
I guess if my parents and siblings came from Texas, with me being the first of the Californians, their pinto beans and cornbread were different than the Okies?

Mar 30, 2004 at 18:18:21 Ellie (Fla.)
Well, finally there's a topic that I can jump right into and with relish. The humble bean family. David, New England is beantown. I'd imagine that pintos are costly there, considered an exotic.::Well, My Gramma, may she rest in peace, made a dish called Tzimmis. Good for hanging wallpaper! I offered a lima bean to the children once and they went on strike. ::::I put a bean up my nose as a child and caused hysteria in my family.::I created a masterpiece mosaic from assorted beans, made maracas, used them as pie crust weights, used them as currency for games. But my favorite is the navy bean with a smoked ham hock the size of a football. Anytime folks, anytime.

Mar 30, 2004 at 19:50:36 David Gilbert (Baton Rouge)
Yes, New England is bean town, but the beans are all baked. We had some friends from Vermont over once and fixed boiled beans. They were dumb founded. Boiled Beans!!! There is a Middle Eastern dish made from garbanzo / chip peas beans they mash-up and make a dip. They call it Hummus. You use pita bread as the dipper and the hummus as the dippie. It also would make good wall paper adhesive. Tzimmis is sweeter than hummus and is a Yettish / Labanese dish and also used as a dip for pita bread. We once tried to boil a bean called fava. After 2 1/2 days of boiling you couldn't cut them with a jack-hammer. Ellie, tell us about your brownies.

Mar 30, 2004 at 23:12:36 BillyC (B'ville, IN)
Well, Beans to y'all. They don't have pinto beans in New England, that I know of, Dave. In my entire time there, I never met a bean I could like. Besides the staple pintos, we had navy beans also, Ellie, And black eyed peas - both dried and freshly shelled, cooked the same as the pintos, with out the chili powder. I ran into a similar dish in turkey that was same as navy beans, only with tomato sauce. I even cooked some for the DL and the boys, once. They were inedible.

Mar 30, 2004 at 23:20:27 wcrow (palm desert)
Beans!! I know we all qualify as experts on beans in most any form but the "pinto" was always on our table, boiled with or without any bones or hocks. Cornbread and beans remains one of my favorites today. The cornbread must be made not bought in a box. I could take a piece of Moms' cormbread to school in my pocket and it would still be ready to eat at lunch. Box cornbread will crumble on your plate before you eat it. WE have found Santa Maria beans to be a good boiling bean if pintos are not around. Could we have some of these beans in Pismo?

Mar 31, 2004 at 11:47:46 Betty Grant (Visalia)
Good Morning,::Pinto Beans and Cornbread is a very favorite meal at our house. We do not have it as often as we did growing up, now it is a treat. Just made navy bean soup over the weekend. ::Maybe we can have Santa Maria beans at our reunion since it is so close to Santa Maria we should be able to pull that off.::Jim, Atherton is as close as our grandson's baseball games will be. If you go to the Menlo College website under sports-mens baseball, this week is his picture and a article of his 2 homeruns last Thrusday. Sorry we missed that game.::::Waiting for up date on brownies. Hope David still has the ingredients out on the counter so he can get to his baking right away.::::Have a good day::::Betty

Mar 31, 2004 at 16:50:52 Ellie (Fla.)
You guys are hilarious! Is that enough about beans? Wayne, so you want your own buffet in Pismo. Talking cornbread! My cornbread is more smooth and cakelike with a hint of bacon, very moist, fine grained, not crumbly or dry. I make it once a week. Yes, David, you've got it down right. Yiddish is the proper spelling and now you have to branch out and make Baba Ganousj. It's easy, lowcal, and a delicious appetizer. Made from eggplant. Pita is the scooper.::Yes,yes, I must get back to the Brownies! I'll have to Fedex this cause I can't schlep all this on a plane.:: ::Will someone be kind enough to tell me where I'm going. No smart cracks. You know I have a black belt. With rhinestones yet. There's plenty of time. So if someone could get back to me by September, That would be nice. I love this site. Thanks David.

Mar 31, 2004 at 18:30:12 BillyC (B'ville,IN)
Enough with the beans?? Never. Dave, there is a fastfood restaurant chain in Cincinnati owned by Dave Parker, former Pittsburgh Pirate and Cincinnati Red. It's a fried chicken place, but they had a side dish - Red Beans and Rice. The beans are as close to pinto beans I remember frpm back then. I haven't found any cornbread and beans yet. They had cornbread in Boston Market, another chicken place but no beans. Now, fried okra - that's another thing I remember from back then. I found that in a fried fish chain - Captain D's - that make just like back then.

Apr 1, 2004 at 17:46:37 BillyC (B'vile/in)
Okay, enough beans. Okra, ok. How about the nasty stuff they put in the coffee in Louisiana? I was visiting Slidell in 1962 when we went to breakfast. The waitress asked me if I wanted my coffee with or without. I said, "with." I thought I had been poisoned. That was terrible. at Waffle House anywhere you can get hominy grits with your eggs, but I pass on those, too.

Apr 2, 2004 at 08:40:54 JimG (Tulare)
Betty,::::What is the website address . . . couldn't find it on Menlo College men's sports. Maybe Sid knows? Better have you send it. By the way "what about Portagee beans?"::::JimG::::

Apr 2, 2004 at 16:41:32 BillyC (B'ville/in)
Chicory - That's what that poison was in the coffee in Louisana.

Apr 4, 2004 at 22:43:24 BillyC (B'viile)
No beans tonite. Today, Indiana, for the most part, is now on Slow Time - Eastern Standard Time, not Eastern Daylight Savings time. It is now 10:37 in Cincinnati time, 9:37 in Indiana time. The farmers in Indiana are a very strong body politic here in Indiana. Now I will have to explain this to half of our customers when they want to get up at 7:00 am EDT, not 6:00 am EST. Life is fun on the stateline. Now I can stay up to watch Jay Leno. OH Goody, Now I am able to get free access to a porn sight, or so the Instant Message I just got. Goodbye, let's go see what's going on.

Apr 8, 2004 at 01:15:51 jacque (SLO Pacific daylight time)
Ok Billy, 3 days and you're still watching porn? No one's left a message at the site since April 4th, does that mean they all are waiting for a report from Billy? Nothing new in SLO town, no riots since Mardi Gras. The quakes still get reported each day in the newspaper....at least the top five do. They are now permanently part of the Weather page. Jim G. have you seen all the faults in and around Pismo? It almost looks like a chinese road map. I'm back watering the fruit trees and praying hard that we don't plant a garden (more weeds and watering) Betty Grant, I havent forgot about Gordon LU he just keeps having last minute meetings and I keep missing him. He's coming here next week so I'll get back to you soon. John is doing fair this time with his thearpy. My mom is still hanging on and eating all the meals I fix. I've got the kitchen fired up again because my friend is flying over to check on his other plane and is taking the food over for me. I'm going to be a gramma again any day, I can hardly wait!

Apr 8, 2004 at 16:06:12 BillyC (B'ville/IN)
Hey Jacque, I guess I'm not quick enough, I haven't been able to take any of those nice young ladies up on their offers. This past Monday I had to go back to Cincinnati for a Cardiolite stress test, or half of one anyway, the other part completed yesterday. I picked up the mail and in it was a PC World magazine with an article on recovering corrupted files from your computer. Today I was able to download a copy of the program, and it worked. I now have recovered all 88 of my photos from the Reunion in Reno. I burned them to a cd really quick and I hopefully now have them forever. Dave, I will make a copy of it and mail it to you. I've spent about three hours this afternoon with the recovery program and I am really happy this task is finally done. === Actually I thought all the bean talk had caused everyone to get sick of this place and you all have been avoiding it.

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. I HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE WELL. TODAY IS GOOD FRIDAY. THE DAY WE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO REMEMBER WHAT GOD DID FOR US. THE "PASSION" BY MEL GIBSON HAS MADE IT SO GRAPHIC. BUT, AFTER THAT COMES EASTER. HOW EXCITING! I HOPE EVERYONE HAS THE BEST EASTER EVER. LOVE BRAD

Apr 9, 2004 at 15:54:52 Ellie (Fla.)
First of all, I'm still in shock, Billy!Porn of all things: what next? Just the mere mention of it sent me for the salts.::Yea Babe, so what else is new. We are having a drought. There's no rain. I found a pearl in a raw oyster yesterday. A pal of mine and I go out to a place in the country where they serve the greatest right on the river. Would you believe they picked us dry on the Sanibel Causeway. There are no shells left. The season's been a good one.::David, your word play was great. I stumbled thru it today myself, trying to repeat to this very elderly man. Needless to say, there was some explanation required.::Jacque, my Dear, Thank you. I'll be back at ya soon.::::Ye, of the Jewish persuasion,Happy Passover. We who celebrate the Family gathering of Easter wish for you good health and happiness.

Apr 9, 2004 at 20:53:19 David Gilbert (Baton Rouge, LA.)
Ellie, I wasn't sure your Yiddish was good enough to know what a Shabbos Goys was. I think Brad doesn't know he is one. We had visitors last week, Rosemary's sister's daughter and her husband were in town. We all went out to a local bait restaurants for catfish and hush puppies. They didn't have my favorite "fried dill pickles". Also, Bill Rose and his wife were in town on their way to Corpus Christi, TX. We went out, ate then just sat and talked. Bill came to dinner at our home in Tokyo. He was the first guest we ever had in our home. That was 47 years ago. We expect to have dinner in New Orleans near the end of the month with three more of our classmates. The internet has brought us all closer. Ellie you need to wait for a big storm, then hunt for shells.

Apr 10, 2004 at 00:13:26 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD EVENING BROTHERS ANS SISTERS. FORGIVE ME FOR BEING EXCLUSIVE. I DIDN'T MEAN TO BE. ELLIE, YOU SAID IT BEST. AND,:::::HAPPY PASSOVER. DAVID, YOU HAVE ME THERE. I KNOW THE JEST OF IT, BUT NOT THE FULL MEANING. YES, I AM A GENTILE. HOWEVER, CHRISTIANS ARE ADOPTED INTO GOD'S FAMILY. I WISH ALL OF YOU THE VERY BEST WITH GOD'S BLESSINGS. LOVE BRAD

Jacque,::::Thanks alot . . . that's all we needed to know after the wind storm we had to find out that we sit on the Road Map of who knows how many faults. We'll hang on to our earthquake insurance.::::JimG::::

Apr 11, 2004 at 17:19:10 Dave (BR, LA.)
How many of you know that the Saturday before Easter is set aside for families to gather and boil one huge cast iron pot of potatoes, corn on the cob, an extraordinary batch of seasoning and crawfish. Yummy, its so good it'll make your eyes, mouth and nose water. My first reaction years ago was "You got to be kidding". Anyway, all you all have a wonderful Easter. Peace

Apr 11, 2004 at 21:34:46 Derek (Alameda)
Happy Easter all...

Hello good friends. Pat and I send EAster greetings and Passover wishes to you all. We spent three days in Long Beach with her sister and husband. We went to the Coliseium area to see what has been done there. Remember Exposition Park? Well it still has the most beautiful Rose garden I have ever seen. It brought back memories of the band trips and marching in the football games. We visited ther "TAj Mahony" as the new catholic cathedral in LA is called and it is a remarkable architechural design that will serve the LA parish for the next 100 years very well. Also visited the new Disney Hall for the Arts and it too is a look into the future with its design. WE hope you are all well and livig life to the fullest that you can. Everday is a blessing for us. Luv you WC

Today I performed my annual rite of Spring - I sent in extensions on my income taxes. Last Thursday I started another of my rites - I mowed the grass in the front of the motel - it was in the 60's. Saturday I started on the back yard, in the 40's, and finished up Sunday, in the 30's - Boy do I like Springtime in Indiana. The evening temps were near freezing or below. Tomorrow night the low will be higher than the high on Sunday and by Saturday we'll be back in the in the 70's, for good this time I hope. Yesterday we had an inch of rainfall, and an inch of snowfall. Now it's sunny and in the 60's. The CD with the Reno pictures is on its' way to Dave. If anyone wants a copy of the cd, or individual pictures just let me know, and I will try to get them to you.

Apr 17, 2004 at 21:03:49 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Billy, I received your CD with the Reno pictures today. I have added a fifth page to the 2003 pages. Have 5 pictures on now and a lot more to come. Also, I was tired of seeing you at the bottom of the page.

Apr 20, 2004 at 09:21:48 Bill Rose (Columbia, MO)
Well we finally made it home from our trip to Corpus Christi, TX. I think the best part of our trip was the time we spent with David and Rosemary. Haven't seen these guys since 1981. Boy was it great to talk over old times at CUHS. Really looking forward to Pismo in November.

Apr 20, 2004 at 23:39:47 BillyC (IN/OH)
I finally finished the laundry. I had 40 teenagers here over the weekend for the National JROTC Orienteering competition. They were from just north of Dallas, TX. Fortunately, the DL was wrong about them, they were very well behaved, didn't steal anything, and left lots of food and a couple of pillows. Oh Yeah, they won the competition with a final push the last day. Whatever orienteering is. They were really quiet, too. Just finished the evening news, lots of bad weather NW of here around Indianapolis and Kokomo, but we didn't even have any rain here. It's that time of the year here in the Midwest.

Apr 22, 2004 at 05:33:26 Dave (BR, LA.)
We have a new update on the Pismo Beach reunion. Go to "Events". Then click on 2004 Pismo Beach. We still list it as a "Mini" reunion, but its starting to look full blown.

Apr 23, 2004 at 08:36:44 JimG (Tulare)
Wow!::::Calvin is coming to the coastal reunion . . . Must be fishing season or something. Also maybe he can elaborate on his famous class room poem about Jack and Jill.::::JimG::

Hello again,::::Does anybody have Eddie Harris' address or phone number . . . Missed seeing him in Reno. I must have it somewhere. If I find it I will give him a call!::::JimG::::

Apr 26, 2004 at 19:33:57 Dave (Baton Rouge, LA)
We had dinner Friday in a fancy New Orleans restaurant with Wayne, Bill, Julie and their spouse's. ( fancy to me is where you don't stand in line to order ) Bill and Wayne were still in the Big Easy Sunday when they had almost 9 inches of rain. Not good for sight seeing. I'm interested to hear their thoughts on a Louisiana thunder shower. Sent all the emails out for the Pismo reunion yesterday. The one for Vera was returned "address unknown"!! Got the snail mail mailed today. Also today, I received Julia's biography and added it to the site. You need to get yours bio's to me, or I'll start writing them for you. I'm sure you wouldn't want that. Tomorrow we have reservations at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS. Plan on playing the dingaling machines.

9" of Rain . . . If that happened here the Tulare Lake bottom would fill up again!::::JimG::::

Apr 27, 2004 at 17:00:41 Ellie (Fla.)
So, Do we have a proper address for Vera?

Apr 27, 2004 at 18:55:04 BRAD (WONDERLAND)
I HOPE SO, I SENT THE CHECK LAST SATURDAY. BRAD

Apr 28, 2004 at 19:58:43 Dave (Baton Rouge, LA.)
Vera's address and phone number are correct. I talk to her on the phone 2/19. She had just moved and was going to get connected, but she must have got a different server. Anyway, she or someone cashed my $30 check that was sent to her new address. Just got back from the Mississippi gulf coast. I set a new personnel record 57,000 credits in a machine. Stay calm, it was a penny machine.

May 1, 2004 at 07:34:17 Dave (Baton Rouge)
This is the kind of emails I hate and sadly pass on. "I am Audrey Fletcher (Bob Fletcher's wife), I do believe that Bob had made plans to attend this gathering at Pismo, but I am sorry to say that Bob went over to New Zealand on Feb. 24th to participate in a bike tour, and on March 8th he had a massive heart attack and died instantly over there. Thank you for thinking of him, and please say a prayer for him when you get together, the one consolation we have is that he was having a wonderful time, and died doing something he loved doing. Sincerely, Audrey"

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, MY HEART IS HEAVY THIS MORNING AS I THINK ABOUT OUR CLASSMATE AND FRIEND BOB. I AM SO GLAD I GOT A CHANCE TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH HIM IN RENO AND THE MONTHS SINCE. I BELIEVE GOD HAS BOB IN HIS ARMS IN HEAVEN TODAY AND THAT HE WILL BE THERE TO GREET US AT OUR 100 YEAR REUNION IN 2056. PLEASE LET ME SAY AGAIN. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO MEET GOD WHEN HE CALLS YOUR NAME. NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT. I SPOKE WITH AUDERY THIS MORNING AFTER I GOT THE NEWS AND TOLD HER SHE WOULD BE WELCOME TO COME TO PISMO TO BE WITH THE CLASS ON NOVEMBER. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL. YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS. LOVE BRAD

We have received an email from Sharon Sills informing us that her husband and our classmate Gene, had passed away April 1 from cancer. Gene and Sharon have attended a number of our reunions and I hope Sharon will continue to do so.

Does anyone out there have any good news? I have some good news and some bad news. First the bad: I had two letters returned. One that was to Barbara ( Mitchell ) and Bob Dunehew ( Little Bob ) in Corcoran and Mike Baker in National City. Anyone know whats up. I hate to take three names off the list. Now the good news. I feel good, RO feels good and it is a beautiful day here with flowers blooming and birds singing. Smile and write something nice. Love Dave

DEAR CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. I WAS SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT GENE. WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE NEWS LIKE THAT. DAVE, I'M GLAD YOU AND RO ARE FEELING GOOD. I HAVE AN INTERESTING LITTLE TID-BIT. A MONTH AGO, A LITTLE DOVE STARTED A NEST JUST OUTSIDE OUR PATIO DOOR. IN 2 DAYS SHE HAD 2 EGGS. IN 2 WEEKS, SHE HAD 2 LITTLE BABIES. TWO MORE WEEKS WHICH WAS LAST SUNDAY, SHE KICKED THEM OUT OF THE NEST. THEY WERE ABOUT 75% GROWN. THE STAYED ON THE GROUND ALL DAY AND ABOUT 7:00PM, THEY ALL FOUR FLEW OFF TOGETHER. MONDAY, SHE WAS BACK NESTING. TODAY, I SAW 2 MORE EGGS. FROM MY COMPUTER, I LOOK OUT AND SEE THE NEST. IT HAS BEEN FUN WATCHING THE CYCLE. I KNOW, THAT'S NOT TOO EXCITING TO ANYONE ELSE, BUT I HAVE ENJOYED IT. I TOO FEEL GOOD. GOD IS GOOD. LOVE BRAD

Happy Belated Birthday to Wayne Crow! Brad the bird thing sound interesting but the computer eggss sounds facinating! David & Rosemary, so happy to hear you are both doing well, I think of you often. Ellie, I haven't forgotten you, I'm looking forward to the fall. I do check in and catch up on all of you but between the salmon season,The Sportsmens Assoc Board, the NEW granddaughter and ......::Watering (again), I just don't get much computer time. My son Jason is giving me a great Mothers Day present...he's putting timers on all our watering systems!!!! You know the old saying about the shoemakers children......well the Plumber's wife gets the old fashing watering system ( it's good enough!) Thank God for children! ::Today ait is cooler than it has been and we have a wonderful breeze. My Hooded orioles are back for the summer, they are as pretty as the hummingbirds. ::I talked to Marie Martinez Banales the other day, I wished I had half her energy! She backed out of retiring and is already planning to work again in the fall. Also called Floyd Hensley, he lives in Oceano (south of Pismo). He has a computer and I suggested he cruize the site. He asked about several people so any of you who were close friends in High School, send him a note or leave one here for him. ::I am so glad that I took the time to have a long sit down talk with Gene Sills and his wife. I knew he had been sick but didn't realize it was on going.::Well it's time to walk the Dog and change the water bye for now

i am saddened to hear of our classmates who pave passed on to the better life. I know that many more of those emails will be coming in the years ahead. Life goes on and it is so important to share our memories with each other when we can. Bill and I had a great trip to New Orleans and yes it did rain a whole Calif season in one day!! The river boat was lots of fun and very relaxing. David and RO it was so good to see you, thanks for taking the time to be with us. We had a great meal at Emirils' DelMonico and did not have to get a second loan to pay for it. Pat and I went on to Atlanta and visited with our son Kevin's family. It was a good two weeks but I gained 8 lbs. It has reached over 100 here so after the NFL reunio in Las Vegas June 4-7 we are off to Donner Lake until late Oct. Dave I am thinking of the bio but need to edit it to what might be readable to others.

With the passing of winter, not much to talk about. Oh yeah, It rained last night, we had 4 rooms of wet campers came by to stay in the motel - It keeps me from mowing the grass, but if it is going to bring in business - let it rain. Today is my cleaning ladies 80th birthday - wow, I hope I can keep up with her when I reach that milestone.

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. I HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE MADE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE "THE PASSION". WHAT A GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATION OF WHAT GOD DID FOR US. THE SCRIPTURE KEEPS COMING TO ME FOUND IN MATTHEW 23:37 "O JERUSALEM,JERUSALEM, THE CITY THAT KILLS THE PROPHETS AND STONES GOD'S MESSENGERS! HOW OFTEN I HAVE WANTED TO GATHER YOUR CHILDREN TOGETHER AS A HEN PROTECTS HER CHICKS BENETH HER WINGS, BUT YOU WOULDN'T LET ME". THIS SHOWS THE HEART OF GOD IN HIS LOVE FOR US. I WANT TO HAVE SUCH A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD THAT HE WILL KNOW THAT I WANT HIS COVERING. I TRUST ALL OF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY. I HOPE EVERY ONE IS WELL. WITH GOD'S BEST. LOVE BRAD

Well, it's another of those days. Last night the DL was hit around 11:00pm on her way back home. Some lady was exiting an entrance to the freeway and they met at about 65mph or more. Thank God for seatbelts and airbags, she had a bruise on her left hand and left shoulder from the seatbelt. Don't know if there were any broken bones yet, but she was being mean and nasty to the cute nurses at the hospital, so I guess she is Okay for now.

May 17, 2004 at 18:27:35 BillyC (In/OH)
Just brought the DL home from the hospital. She has a broken left collar bone - nothing they can do for that, just let it heal naturally. Also a small puncture of the left lung, again nothing to do for that - it's a very minuscule puncture. The gave her some pain pills and laxative and stool softeners. The car is in much worse shape - a case of terminal failure all around. She was hit head on at about 60-65 mph by someone entering the highway on an exit, wrong way driver. The entire front end of the car is smashed, I am thankful that the pass side from quarter was where they met. I am thankful no one was in that passenger side, the glove box was pushed all the way to the seat. Fortunately the engine did not enter the passenger area. The DL remembers nothing else except someone came out of nowhere to hit her, and her side of the car was filled with smoke, and she got her seatbelt unfastened, and got out of the car and on the ground next to it. On reflection, she says that God was mad at her for driving all the way to the motel so I could sent out two nasty e-mails to the Russian teachers at her school. Now she wishes she had stayed at home. She says that most wrecks cause really bloody messes, but she had none. I told her, "Yeah, but there is cooked rice all over the inside of your wreck." All in all, I also hope the other driver is okay also. Don't know if she had been drinking or not. The street where she entered the wrong way is under construction, and it was late at night, so it could have been just a mistake.

May 17, 2004 at 23:01:32 Patty (Chanute, Ks)
Billy, ::So glad to hear that your DL was able to come home from the Hospital. I'm sure she'll be uncomfortable for awhile but our Prayers will be with her for a real fast recovery. Our saying in our Insurance Office is that we are always Thankful for hopefully minor injuries to our Insureds cause we can always fix the cars, but it is sometimes harder to help our people. Best Wishes to all of you. Love, Patty

May 18, 2004 at 01:45:42 Wcrow (palm desert)
Hey Billy C, I am glad your better half survived such a crash with the minor injuries she received. Now, you can pay her back for all the time she looked after you and take good care of her! We are all faced with the possibility that it could happen to us at anytime so lets all be alert and watchful when we are driving today. Temps have cooled off here to low 90's and it is pleasant to play golf each day. After the NFL reunion in Vegas Pat and I will head up to Donner Lake to finiolsh the cabin repairs and wait for the Nov get together. Good health to all of you.

May 18, 2004 at 12:45:09 BillyC (In/Oh)
Thanks, Patty and Wayne. We had an antsy ride home, she was really watching out for me getting to close to other cars in the rain. She got mad at our boys, they both came home last night, too. They had an adventure getting here due to the nasty weather between the East Coast and Midwest. She is getting lots of sleep at least, even though she refuses to take her pain pills, unless it is really bothering her. She still refuses to talk to the people at school. Maybe it will improve as she heels. Both her forearms have really nasty bruises on them that appeared overnight. Other than that, she is happy she won't have to go to work the last two weeks of school.

May 18, 2004 at 22:26:51 Dave Gilbert (Baton Rouge, LA.)
Billy, I think God wasn't angry with the DL. Looks like to me he was taking good care of her. She is very lucky. We have had heavy rain here for the last 9 days. We had a some high wind along with the rain. A large branch came off a tree in the back yard and took out our TV cable. No TV for two days!!! Also, no internet access. No TV, NO internet for two days!! The tree is coming down. I heard we have already had 40 inches of rain this year. Normally we only have 60 inches for the whole year. Ellie, Where did you go?

May 19, 2004 at 07:43:20 BRAD (VISALIA)
HELLO CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, BILLY. I AGREE WITH DAVE. MRS CONNALLY MUST HAVE HAD SPECIAL PROTECTION FROM GOD TO COME AWAY FROM A HEADON COLLISION WITH MINOR INJURIES. I AM THANKFUL FOR THAT. SHE IS IN OUR PRAYERS. YESTERDAY TWO LITTLE BABY DOVES HATCHED OUT JUST TWO WEEKS AND TWO DAYS AFTER THE FIRST PAIR WERE KICKED OUT OF THE NEST. IT'S LIKE WE HAVE A NEW FAMILY LIVING WITH US. FORTY INCHES OF RAIN, I COULD DROWN IN THAT MUCH WATER. I'LL STICK WITH SUNNY CALIF. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT YOU ALL. LOVE BRAD

May 19, 2004 at 10:49:38 Ellie (Fla.)
I'm here David, and I would like the DL to know that I empathize with her completely regarding the nastiness that Bill so emphatically referred to.::::A few years ago I was in the hospital causing an uproar, insulting the most careing nurses in the world, refusing to see any visitors and generally making a ---- of myself. So here's to you. We now belong to the same club and it's nice to have company!::Yes, I sent a lot of apologies and flowers. Fortunately, they know we're not in our right mind at such times.::::Here's for healing quickly. All the Best.::::Now, for life in Fla. It's 91 and humid and would you believe I have the heat on in the pool for a group of friends coming over for a couple days. The temp has to be bath water for most people down here. It's crazy how soft we get. I remember swimming in the Georgian Bay in early may in Canada 6:30am, paralyzed from waist down, and loving it.::::I've been busy between a little work and now I have 16 weeks of PT. And keeping up with everything. Sometimes the computer has to take second place. Perish the thought.::::Had a 6 ft. fence built around my house in the back, and We were talking barbed wire, but wouldn't pass code. Got tired of feeling like a goldfish, so the show is over. Neighborhood changing so I'm diggin in. Feel mush more secure and comfortable. Noone has ever bothered me; guess it's an old age thing. ::::Hi to everyone along the trail of life. Don't forget to take a deep breath and relax, it's a nicer ride.

May 19, 2004 at 22:28:50 BillyC (In/Oh)
3rd day post crash, the DL has a technicolor chest from the the wreck, just from the seatbelt. They told her today would be the worst day - so far it has been - more pain and new places for it to be hurting. But fortunately it's all in the area where the seatbelt grabbed her. Don't ever let anyone tell you they do not help. I'd post the pictures of the car, but they are too gross. I hope she will be better starting tomorrow. The boys can go to the sheriff's office tomorrow an pick up the incident report. I still don't know how the other driver is doing.

May 20, 2004 at 12:55:06 BillyC (In/Oh)
Enough crash talk, hey, how about those cicadas. The 17 year reoccurrence of their return is upon us. I had never even heard of cicadas before 1987, when I first experienced their invasion. The TV news teams have been forecasting their return for it seems like months, but they are finally here. Big brown larvae did out of the ground and climb the nearest wall, tree, or even long blades of grass, then molt out of their brown exo-shell and become adult cicadae. When they first emerge from their brown shells, they are albino white, then metamorph into brown bugs with red eyes. They start their mating call and climb into the highest tree or wall around and mate, then the male dies, and the females go out and lay their eggs in the ground, and die. then 17 years later, the process starts all over again. Next time I will be in Florida, Texas, Arizona, or California. I'll miss the cicada stew. The boys went to pick up the accident report - all four pages + witness reports, they'll be back later. Although the DL gets the last two weeks of school off, she still has to do the report cards - she is po'd because she can't go in to pick the cards up, The cards are scattered all over the students' homeroom teachers rooms. Oh well, nothing's perfect.

May 21, 2004 at 23:38:17 BillyC (In/Oh)
Got the police report, other driver - not insured, allegedly, according to the report. The 22 year old girl was insured - State Farm. She broke her ankle, according to my son who went home today to get the grass mowed at home, and got a call from the girl's mom, checking on the DL. All's under control now, both cars are totalled, both drivers out of the hospital and okay. Final report. No more, I promise.

GREETINGS TO ALL. SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED TO ONE OF OUR LITTLE DOVES. FRIDAY EVENING THE NIGHT SHIFT DOVE DIDN'T SHOW UP. THAY WERE CHANGING AT 6 AM AND 6PM EVERY DAY. THE DAY WATCH DOVE FLEW OFF AFTER A WHILE BUT CAME BACK IN HALF AN HOUR THEN LEFT AROUND 8:30. WE WATCHED, BUT NO NIGHT SHIFT. FINALLY, AT 10:30 I DECIDED TO TAKE OVER. I BROUGHT THE LITTLE 3 DAY OLDS IN FOR THE NIGHT. SAT. MORNING, BEVERLY WATCHED FOR THE DAY BIRD. FINALLY. AT 9, IT ARRIVED. SHE RETURNED THEM TO THE NEST AREA. AND THE DAY WATCHER WENT INTO THE NEST AND STAYED ALL DAY. LAST NIGHT WE REPEATED THE SHIFT, BUT WE DIDN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO GET SO COLD. THEIR NEST IS IN A FLOWER POT SO IT MAKES IT EASY TO MOVE THEM. I GUESS WE ARE THE NIGHT SHIFT NOW. WE'LL SEE. LIFE IS GOOD. ISN'T IT GREAD TO WAKE UP EACH DAY AND KNOW THAT THE GOD OF OUR UNIVERSE IS LOOKING OUT FOR US. IT IS SO AWSOME TO FEEL HIS PRESENCE AND KNOW HE IS PREPARING A PLACE FOR OUR 100 YR REUNION. MANY OF YOU HAVE CONFIRMED PLANS TO BE THERE. I TRUST ALL OF YOU WILL. LOVE BRAD

Hi, We had a problem with the guest book and the counter for a while. It's now back and working. My brother had his 70th birthday party a week ago. My goodness 70 Years; must be tough to be old. My son took his family to one of those restaurants where they give you peanuts to eat and you just throw the shells on the floor. RO asked our, soon to be 1st grader granddaughter, how she liked it. She replied "It was awful, Grandma. They couldn't afford to pay anyone to sweep the floor". Its almost June. Need to think about being at the coast. Pismo Beach to be more precise. Brad, be thankful the eggs had hatched or you and Bev would be taking turns sitting on eggs in a flower pot.

May 26, 2004 at 23:55:51 BRAD (VISALIA)
DAVE, 70 DOESN'T SOUND SO BAD FROM HERE. BEVERLY SAID,"I MIGHT HAVE". I JUST FED THEM FOR THE EVENING. I'M THANKFUL THAT THE DAY SHIFT DOVE IS STILL COMING BACK. THIS MORNING IT RETURNED AT 6:30. I HAD NOT PUT THE BABIES OUT YET. I HAD TO RUSH THEM OUT. IN JUST A FEW MINUTES THEY WERE HAVING A FEEDING FRENZY. YOU'LD BE SUPPRISED AT WHAT YOU CAN DO IF NEED BE. TO BE CONTINUED. LOVE BRAD

May 27, 2004 at 17:11:50 Ellie (Fla.)
Now, when you mess with Mother Nature, Your birds may be ostrasized by the community at large. And we must think of their future. After all, they will need the necessary confidence to achieve their goals in life. I suggest, at this time that you invest in a college fund, broker of your choice, and do the right thing for them.

May 27, 2004 at 20:47:13 BillyC (In/Oh)
Hey, Bill R, they are doing it again, just like the last time you were in Cincinnat. The three TV stations are posting severe weather broadcasts right now..and have been for almost an hour now. Tornado warnings and Strong thundershow warnings all over the place. I guess we are finally getting all that stuff from your area.

May 28, 2004 at 22:51:53 Florence Rose Odom (Corcoran)
Hello to the Class of 1956. My brother, Bill Rose, told me of your Site and I have enjoyed reading the comments from all of you. I live at Black Lake Golf Resort which is located a few miles south of Pismo Beach - the site of your next reunion. We have 27 holes of golf on a great lay-out - if any of you are interested. My husband, John, and I golf at least three days a week. ::I retired from teaching secondary school in 1993 (Sacramento area) and we moved here in 2000. ::Bill says that even though I graduated in 1955 I would be welcome to your reunion - it would be great seeing you.:: Florence (Rose) Odom::e-mail: niota1@msn.com::Nipomo Ca

This thing has been broken since Florence used it. The server made a slight change to the address on the CGI items. They changed /cgi-sys/ to /cgi-bin/ and didn't tell me. If you see something that's not working, please let me know. I'm sure that Florence being in the class of '55 had nothing to do with it.

Jun 2, 2004 at 22:40:23 Bill R (Columbia, MO)
Don't bet on it. You know how "older" sisters can be. (She just had her 67th birthday on June 1st) and for a short 2 1/2 months she is two years older. Sonia and I just returned from 10 days of storms and tornados in the Omaha area. Nothing like waking up at 3 am in your RV and watching the weather report tornado sightings around your campground.

WOW!!!!!::Great new additions. Loved the cars and I noticed an empty setting at the table. Those Cradads looked real good!

Hi Billy, I don't see a problem on this end.

I need everyone to leave a note here so I can determine if we have a configuration problem. Thanks, Dave

I read ya even if I don't alway leave a message. Love the pictures. Glad to see RO looking good! Love the tablecloth when it's messy eating, no washing just bunch it up and toss! Why didn't I think of that? Thanks for the great idea!

Jun 5, 2004 at 10:05:57 BillyC (In/Oh)
We'll try again and see if this works.

Jun 5, 2004 at 10:11:30 BillyC (In/Oh)
That's really sneaky, Dave. At least I got it working now.

Jun 5, 2004 at 10:21:38 BillyC (In/Oh)
To get this thing to work, I have to click the "Sign Guestbook" button, When I reach the blue screen, it gives me the "cgi-sys" on the address line, I go back and change the "sys" to "bin", and it works. Why do I to change it everytime?

Jun 5, 2004 at 11:06:12 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Billy, I think the reason is: 1) You are not coming through the Add Comments page link on the Guest book page, but using a old favorite link in your computer. ..or.. 2) You are coming unscrewed.

Jun 5, 2004 at 14:34:23 Dave (BR, LA)
...or... 3) Go to the "Add Comments" page and click on refresh. If 3) works, you need to click on "tools" on your browser, click on "Internet Options", click on "Delete Files", check the box on "Delete all offline content". Everyone should do the above every time they think about it. At Sixty something that not very often.

Jun 5, 2004 at 20:45:48 BillyC (In/Oh)
I think I am just unscrewed. I must be because.... I tried the delete offline content files. We'll see if it works.

Jun 6, 2004 at 18:55:23 Dave (Baton Rouge)
We added a date 6/6/04 to the "Add Comments" page of the Guest Book. If you don't see the date, "Refresh" the page. If you still don't see it. You are on the wrong page. Email me at 56panthers@cox.net Peace!

Jun 7, 2004 at 16:30:33 BillyC (In/Oh)
I see the 6/6/04 when I go to IE to log on to the website. Maybe it will work right.

Jun 7, 2004 at 16:32:23 BillyC (In/Oh)
That's good enough for me. I'll do it this way from now on, not the old way, it's much easier.

Jun 7, 2004 at 17:01:42 BillyC (In/Oh)
Just got back from Cincinnati. The DL had a Checkup this am with the Orthopaedic Dr. The gap between the bone ends is getting smaller, and it appears she is healing like they said she would, but for a 64 year old lady, it is slower than she wants it to heal. Got a new prescription for pain pills. They are giving her pills with less power than before. Went looking for a new car afterwards. It'll costs us a bunch after Farmers pays us for the old car, but what the heck, new ones cost more than old ones. Now, if i can get her to drive with one hand, we get it now, or wait a couple of months when she is better. Looks like our trip to Tibet in early July will be put off a year.

Jun 8, 2004 at 15:02:49 wcrow (palm deseert)
Dave, I am getting all of the messages. We leave Thursday for Tulare to see Lindon. We will connect with Jim and Arlene for golf, food ,drinks etc. Then on up to Donner Lake until October. The NFL convention in Las Vegas was fun but it was 109 so it was hard to get outside. We saw "O" at the Mirage and it is a mind blowing experience. It combines water , ballet, trapeze, magic, pyrotechs all in one show. Good to read that all is well with the most of us. WC

Finally, the comment section is working correctly. I couldn't read any current comments for a while. Attended a family reunion at Mooney's Grove last Sunday. My brother came over to also attend his 45th class reunion (in Fresno last Saturday). I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Pismo. Until then..............

Well, this is interesting. The DL's family doctor referred her to an acupuncturist. We'll see if it helps at all.

Don't think we will do the "Gold Wing" thing on this trip. We are thinking about spending 3 or 4 months (Nov - Mar) on the California Coast and therefore we are bringing our 5th wheel RV.::This will be the first year that we have spent the winter in warmer places so we will see how it goes and how long we can stand to be away from home in Missouri.

Jun 23, 2004 at 09:21:13 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I got an chain type email from Ellie the other day titled "You Know its July in Florida when:". I sent her a quick email saying she had forgot her Corcoran Roots. Florida is not as hot in July as the Valley. The main different between the South and the Valley is the moisture in the air. If you get the air moving here it the same as sitting under a swamp cooler in Corcoran. In the South the::temperature hardly ever gets above 95. That is about the point it starts raining. We have late afternoon thundershowers almost everyday. So, where I'm I going::with this?

Jun 23, 2004 at 09:23:01 Dave (Baton Rouge)
You know it July in the Valley when: The jackrabbits are carrying canteens; The lizards run about 10' with their tail in the air and a stick in their mouth. Then they stop, put the stick down, get on it and cool their feet; You run your lawn sprinklers at night so the water won't evaporate before it hits the ground; The asphalt on the roads melts; You drive with the windows up because the wind will burn the hair off your arm; You never ever touch the out side of a car; The sunscreen in your windshield melts; The temperature has been over 100° everyday for over a month and will continual for the next two; You never walk across the street or on sidewalks barefoot, you run; Anyone got some more?::

Jun 23, 2004 at 09:56:00 Ellie (Fla.)
Yes David, I now remember those loud thunderous monsters sitting on top of the roof spewing out cool air and occasionally mist, having to be well balanced or else mildew will form in the house and my father boasting about the tonnage of the unit, which didn't quite get to my room.::But at least, you could step out in the morning and take a breath of fresh air and it was regenerating. Here, at 7am you open the door and a wall of Humidity hits you on the way to the pool. The swim is the answer for exercise and for escaping the weather and for a perk up. Then hit the shower and off you go. Gotta find the way wherever you are.

Yes, good friends Pat and I are now settled in for the next four months here in the high Sierras and it is just great. Dave, you can add 10 degrees to everthing you listed for the hot summer and it might fit Palm Desert. I do remember the heat of Corcoran and especially working in the field during those days. I am getting the cabin repairs set up and the carpets and floors will be done while Pat and I go up to Glacier Nat Park for a week in mid JUly. Sounds like Pismo is getting some action from classmates. I am sure it will be a good time for all of us. Lets take time to dance!!

I removed the item about only purchasing domestic gasoline for your car. I remember when we lived in Hanford and I worked on gas pumps there were only 5 companies producing gasoline in the valley. What I'm saying is, "You don't even know the brand of gas you are purchasing or much less if it is import or domestic."

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, I LIKE THE LETTER FROM THE 83 YEAR OLD LADY. I AGREE. LET'S TAKE TIME TO DANCE, SMELL THE ROSES AND BE THANKFUL TO GOD EVERY DAY FOR ALL THE BLESSINGS WE ENJOY. HAVE A GREAT DAY. LOVE BRAD

Hello Classmates...50 years ago yesterday I turned 16 and made my Mom lay on the floor in the back seat of the chrysler (the Panzer)while I drove Barbara & Rosemary Plus a few more as we cruised Corcoran! It was a Saturday & I couldn't get my license until monday! I didn't want to be seen with my "Mother" in the car, wouldn't have been such a big deal except that she had just had my youngest brother Brad 8 days before! I guess a little bit of the "princess" must have come out because she didn't object. Love to read your comments, wish I had more time right now but therapy is keeping me busy. Trying to save the old knee! Love and Kisses to everyone!

::HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACQUE.....Can't imagine being 66....I guess in two more months I'll figure it out also.

Jun 30, 2004 at 17:40:59 wcrow (truckee)
Hi Friends, I am sitting here listening to the thunder boom and very few raindrops coming down in these Sierra Mts. Pat and I tried to fish today and caught 1, that's ONE, trout so I guess it is hamburgers tonight. I have taken a fancy to digital photografy and I enjoy taking pictures while we hike around up hear. My next task is to learn how to share these scenes with friends. Oh yes, Happy Birthday Jacque, I saw you speeding on Brokaw 50 years ago. David, you and RMO have made the guest room very inviting maybe to much. Will anyone ever leave?? Billy C I hope all is mending well with you better half, I can't call her the DL as I have yet to meet her. All of us are getting to travel on old rte. 66 (years)so we must dance, sing, take pictures and smell the flowers. Pat and I have decided to do a lot of travel these next years while we can. Our older relatives tell us to travel in your 60's as it gets harder later on. We are looking at Machu Pichu for Feb and have two weeks booked in Mexico for June. Where else? Any suggestions? Hi to all the good friends

Hi everyone,::::Happy Birthday Jacque . . . Wow if you were a printer when you are 65 you are really only 56 (65 upside down and backwards in printing). However, 66 doesn't work very well that way (99) . . . Wayne, you missed your chance to be a real hero! You could have cooked that trout and given it to Pat and fixed yourself a sandwich, by the way how big was that trout? Some I've seen in that area are pretty big! Dave, liked the new background on home page, looks good!::::JimG::::

Happy Birthday Jacque, And I thought I was the only one in our class to get younger sibling for his 16th birthday, though mine arrived a couple of months afterwards. It really brings back old memories. In March, the basketball teams were playing in Coalinga and after the B team finished playing, we were sitting in the stands the A team play, when this really cool young girl came into the gym. All the guys on the B team were commenting about what she looked like. I went over and sat down with her and talked about 30 minutes. Then I came back over to the visitors side. My teammates looked at me kind of funny, "Oh, That's my cousin, Shirley. We were talking about my new baby sister."

Oh Yeah, Wayne, the DL just went to see the Orthopedic Surgeon yesterday, She is doing as well as can be expected. She told him she was going back to school to clean up her old room. He told her to wait a while, she wasn't ready for that yet, while the bone was mending, it was still in pretty bad shape. Doesn't bother her in getting mad a me, though, that part of her is as good as ever.

Jul 4, 2004 at 22:41:01 Dave (Baton Rouge, LA)
I was watching the 4th of July calibrations at the mall in DC. My mine took me back to the Corcoran fire department annual fire works show in the 40's, 50's and 60's. That was really the most exciting thing for a small kid that thought the sun came up over the Sierra Nevada's and set just the other side of Kettleman Hills. Our kids felt the same way. They didn't know to run, hide or laugh. The fireworks were the biggest event of the year. I was wondered if they still had them. I did a search of the Fresno Bee and found an article about when and where fireworks will be held in The Valley today. The wheres are: Clovis, Dinuba, Exeter, Folwer, Mariposa, Porterville, Reedley, Visalia and Woodlake. Sadly make a note that the greatest show on earth is no longer held in our old hometown. Someone said along time ago "You can never go home" I think it was Rosemary. Thinking of you all.

Jul 5, 2004 at 01:05:19 Betty Grant (Visalia)
Happy 4th to everyone. Fireworks always reminds me of Corcoran. That was the big event of the year. ::Sounds like lots of people are vacationing. Fun to all and get well wishes to DL and Happy Birthday to Jacque. ::Happy anniversary to Beverly & Brad, Sid & I have one soon, July 14th, then Jim & Arlene and David & Rosemary. BIG Blissful, Loving, Caring, Sharing 48 yrs. Not sure about the order and maybe others the same year. Hopefully we can all hang on for 2 more years.::Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Coast in Nov.::::

Happy day after the 4th,::::Everyone remembers the 4th in Corcoran, I remember my Dad was a volunteer fireman and helped with the show . . . In Tulare they have the fireworks on July 3rd, figure that one out! Talk to everyone at Pismo.::::Jim G::::::

Jul 7, 2004 at 19:21:29 Barbara Weaver (Ventura)
I was IN Corcoran on the 4th. Lots of fireworks on all of the streets, but, alas, no more at the high school. My cousin's grandson set off some near there home.::::Jacque, what was your address in Corcoran. They live really near your old home.::::Hope to see all in Pismo. Happy July 7th.

Jul 7, 2004 at 20:34:14 Jacque (SLO)
Barbara my address was 915 Estes, I drove by last year, you can't go home True, True, the big sycamore trees are gone, there are curbs and gutters, an iron fence and gate across the driveway and they have changed the front of the house both walls and porch. I too remember the fireworks in Corcoran and although I have seen many since non can compare. Just like every Thanksgiving I think of the football games in Corcoran, even the one in the fog where you missed half of the game depending on where you were sitting in the bleachers.

Jul 7, 2004 at 22:07:08 BillyC (In/Oh)
I, too, remember July the 4th from back then, especially the fireworks, softball games, and for some reason, Terry Chono and others flying model airplanes on the baseball field there. The last has stayed with me since then. Now I have lots of money tied up in little balso models and engines. More than I would like to admit. The only fireworks since then that remind me of Corcoran were at Lockbourne Air Force Base, south of Columbus, OH. They fire off the fireworks off the Damn here in Brookville, but I haven't be able to go see them as it is a busy time here ar the motel.

Jul 9, 2004 at 20:41:51 Ellie (Fla.)
Just got back from Canada. Birthday best to Jacque. ::Backs are us kids. I had mine in 98. Still hurts.::Toronto was beautiful! Saw "The Producers" live. Remember Mel Brooks? Ate all kinds of foreign foods. It's a multi-cultural mecca. Weather was 62 or 80 degrees. Old trees, little individual flower gardens, very European feel. Quite the change from Fl.::David, I have this wall that I want to knock down. I have tools. ::I smuggle my meds from Canada. I usually get a years worth and it's a tremendous savings. This year I brought meds, jars of Strawberry Jam (my daughter made), Jarred cherries, cheese, 12 boxes of cookies, 7 boxes of tea. Now how on earth did I get through customs? Very easily. The customs lady asked "Are you carrying any liquids"? I replied,"What Liquids, with an emphatic No!", furthering it along with authentic arm jestures in the Italian style. It felt so natural so I added a few halting words in Italian, while clutching my hand to my heart. It's a wonder I wasn't arrested. Lots of fun.::::And so it goes. Love to all.

Jul 10, 2004 at 15:26:02 Dave (BR, LA.)
Ellie, its so easy to knock down a wall. It takes a sledge hammer, two sticks of dynamite and lots of luck to keep the roof from moving far. If you don't want to cover your furniture, a chain saw will do. The hardest part is making it livable again. I could take it down for a jar of strawberries. Making it livable would cost a bundle. Once when we were overseas shopping. I ask RO give the cab driver the Italian style arm gesture to please wait one minute. She came back to say he drove off and she didn't know why. She had held her arm straight out and gave him the Italian style please wait gesture and he just took off! I get a very European feel in two cities here in the states. San Francisco and oddly San Antonio.

Jul 13, 2004 at 02:07:38 Jacque (SLO)
I think I just signed in twice! sorry Bob stepped on my keyboard. He gets excited when he sees the panther and is now sitting on the right side of the screen batting at the darn thing. I'm blaming all spelling errors on him! David you are a wonderman the site is always a surprise and just keeps improving. Thank God it was down and it wasn't my computer again! I now have timers on most all of the sprinklers thanks to Jason. and the stuff that isn't is on just a few lines in the orchard that only get water once a month.....I can handle that. Plus it turns on at 3am! I'm hoping that they might also scare off the deer in the yard. We average between 8 & 12 everyday. Two have better than average horns.....I have a feeling that if they show up on August 14 they will be freezer bound. They have eaten at least half of the plums and apricots and love the tender new leaves on the orange trees. We also have a resident bob-cat and a mountain lion has been spotted in the neighborhood! The bob-cat keeps the gopher and ground squirrel population down but the M. lion I could do without I hope they think the bob-cat was the M lion. John can shoot the shotgun in the air and the deer just turn around and look at him and keep on eating! My roses are just about history! Hey Billy.....any deer around the Motel??

Jul 13, 2004 at 07:42:39 BillyC (In/Oh)
Funny thing you ask about that, Jacque. Yes, we do. But they are brave enough to come out while I am awake. I see them a lot when I go for my daily walks on the back road here. Send me that bobcat, I have a load of moles I need taken care of. We have wild turkeys, too., but they don't come around as much as the deer. You see a lot of both during the hunting season, hiding out on the posted farm fields. Normally I'm not up this early, but tendonitis in the left hip keeps me awake all sorts of weird hours.

Jul 16, 2004 at 20:50:47 Jacque (SLO)
Have you noticed that everytime I add comments, no one else does for days....... except Billy C did this time on the same day. BUT.....3 days later and no one else is talking!!!!! It's hot and muggy (for SLO) but is only in the mid 80's and a nice breeze is beginning to blow. No fog in Pismo, Avila, Morro, or Cayucos, nice beach weather. They spotted a "Shark" in the water again.....just a thrasher shark about 6 feet long.::I can get more work done when I keep this page open, my cat likes the panther.....he just stares! Bye for now the deer are here and we have a contest to see who can come the closest to hitting the ground under them, to scare them away. They better get the idea before the 14th of August or we will have venison in the freezer.

Jul 18, 2004 at 11:21:59 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I would like to hear from everyone that is planning to attend the get together in Pismo and if you have already made reservations. Jacqueline, we were thinking about getting our reservations in for Pismo Beach next week. Then you start talking about sharks. "Oh, it just a 6 ft thresher shark". That great, I was thinking it might be a real shark and not just a thresher shark. I see where they are not dangerous and only eats live animals. That's not very refreshing to know you can only be eaten alive. Although I'm not sure of my preference between the two methods of being eaten. Also, What would a deer taste like that been eating rose's? Would you serve it with a red rose wine? If you think you should write in this thing, but are not sure what to write. Do like I do and write something stupid.

Jul 18, 2004 at 11:50:26 Ellie (Fla.)
:::::::::: What sharks??????????????????::

Jul 18, 2004 at 20:18:25 BillyC (In/Oh)
The DL is really in high dudgeon right now. In June we put some money from out checking account into an annuity, and it was transferred immediately from our account. She went in and cancelled the thing within 10 days, now its over a month and we still have not received our money from the Insurance company. She really hates immediate take away, and slow as molasses get back when it comes to her money. Sharks?? When I was at Eglin AFB one of my buddies took me out shark fishing in the Gulf. I thought I was just going for a boat ride and sitting around swapping BS. We hooked two of the biggest sharks I have ever seen, but both just spit out the bait and swam away. When I took the laundry down to the maids room early this morning, there was a small deer walking down the middle of US 52 having a great time, making all the cars stop for him. Fortunately it is not too busy in Sunday mornings - they all missed her and she finally went for a swim across the river.

Since we are bringing our RV, we have made reservations at the Holiday RV Park in Pismo for arrival on 10/30. As of now, we expect to spend 2 or 3 months in Pismo. It's been so long since I've been on the Coast during the winter months I've really forgotten what it's like. Jacque, maybe you can give me a run down of what I might expect temp wise. My sister alway makes it sound a lot better than reality, I think.

Jul 19, 2004 at 17:32:32 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Talked to my sister Carolyn today. They have 72 paid ex-Corcoran High members and/or guest coming to their class of 1954 50th reunion in Visalia 8/14. The 1st of August is the last day to sign up, but if you showed up at the door with the green stuff in your hand, you can get in.

Jacque,::::Maybe you missed your calling . . . When Jacque Talks, Everybody Listens! . . . What's your latest stock tip from E. F. Hutton? Also Bill your sister is probably right, you should listen to her! The Holiday campground is just a short walking distance to our place. We'll be able to see you guys even after the reunion. Weather at Pismo is about 60 in the morning and evening and about 70 during the day. Sun breaks through the morning fog about 9 a.m. Longer if it is 100 plus degrees in Corcoran. All you need is shorts, sweatshirt and t-shirts for the 3 months.::::JimG::

Jul 21, 2004 at 15:38:34 Julia ((Calistoga))
The wildlife discussion sounds like home. In Calistoga we have lots of birds, deer, coyotes, skunks, raccoons, foxes, about 50 wild turkeys, feral cats, an occasional mountain lion who “own” the place -- and that come and go at their own pleasure. For five years we had wild peacocks, which were really fun!::::Because we have nothing cultivated, it is okay. But our real nemeses are the squirrels. They eat the tasty, juicy roots of any pot flowers on the deck. But more seriously they chew off large, green, heavy, bomb-shaped pine cones which break car windows and puts holes in roofs! Clever creatures nd not afraid of anything.::::Just finished reading The Top Ten Myths in Education coauthored by Bill Streshly and a San Diego State Colleague. It’s a wonderful book full of wisdom--and solutions. Should be required reading for everyone interested in public education.::::Since I’m making time this week to attack my pile of books I want to read, the next offering is The King of California!

Jul 21, 2004 at 23:02:39 BillyC (Ohio)
Well, fo the first time in a long time, I am writing from my home in Cincinnati. We're having a roof and leafguarded gutters put on the house here. They should be done sometime tomorrow if the rains stay away. I felt like I was almost at home, the entire crew was Mexican. I'll be going back to the motel tomorrow morning if they are done. We even have wild animals here. A couple of years ago a lady up the street from where I live let her german shepherd out for his nightly visit outside. When he was let back in, he ran around the whole house rubbing his nose on the carpets, the sofa, and anything else he could find. A skunk had squirted him on the nose. The whole family had to vacate the house for a few days while the odor was extracted from the house. We have had deer running around our house here also, from the park that surrounds our fair Township. Julia, It is nice to have someone fresh and new make a few comments.

Hi to all! David just reminded me about my Halloween party. I've decided to let you all know again about what I'm thinking about. Since you are going to be her Nov. 1 for the class get together, how about stopping by my house October 31, to trick or treat? Costumes are optional, pool table is available for matches, I'll dig something out of one of the freezers....Nothing exotic I promise (no snake, shark, etc) and we will get started early. Let me know what you think, I'm off again with "Mother's Meals" and to meet with Brad on Monday about 06. when I get back I'll finalize everything and provide maps to those who are interested. I'm only about 8 miles from Pismo, the back way up price canyon road.::Ellie, I promise to send you a personal email when I get home.::Let me know what you think about Halloween.

High Friends, Pat and I just returned from Glacier NP. We highly recommend it to all who like the vistas of the high country. We saw no grizzlies but lots of great scenery. Our cabin repairs are done except for one last cabinet. Seems the contractor does not want to get paid so he is stalling with the last piece. My neighbor here in Donner left some spaghetti sauce on the stove while he went down the street to have a drink with a friend at 4:40 pm. While he was gone old Bruno tore off his front screen door and then went to the back door and did the same. We now get Italian bears who visit in the daylight!!All the messages are positive and that is good . Seems we are all doing ok on the old route 66 of life. Love to all of you. WC

GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. DAVE I WAS LAUGHING AGAIN THIS MORNING AS I REREAD THE ODDS ON HUSSAIN UNTIL I CAME TO THE 30:1 ODDS FOR HIM CONVERTING TO CHRISTIANITY. IT HIT ME THAT HIS SIN IS NO GREATER THAN MINE. GOD WOULD FORGIVE HIM IF HE WOULD REPENT. A FAR GREATER SIN WOULD SIMPLY BE INDIFFERENCE TO GOD'S PLAN. SEE MATTHEW 11:20-24. I'M SO GLAD THAT GOD HAS MADE PROVISIONS FOR US TO BE FORGIVEN. THAT'S WHERE I WANT TO LIVE (ON THE FORGIVEN SIDE) THE REMAINDER OF MY DAYS. I TRUST YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY. WITH GOD'S BLESSINGS. LOVE, BRAD

Well, I got a big surprise a while ago. I was checking out the website, when I got an Instant Message from my brother, Jack. I had an email from him earlier this year, but never an IM before. We spoke, or typed, for a long time. Brad, he and Melba have great grandchildren, too. He told me about Classmates.com, but I told him it was too late, and that I had already got hooked up with all you guys. Now all we have to do is get the girls hooked up, and we can have our family reunions on line.

Today is Rosemary's birthday. I guess I've been around her for 57 of her birthdays now. I try to understand why two people can be so involved for so long, but then I know the answer. It's Love, Respect and Companionship.

Rosemary -- Here's wishing you another happy birthday, plus many more. I hope to attend the Halloween party at Jacque's. Don't know about a costume.::::Have a great year. Looking forward to seeing both of you again. You should be celebrating your 48th anniversary in the next week or so (I think it is the 12th, but not sure). Here is to many more.

AS I type this I am singing "happy birthday" to Rosemary and all of my classmates who have had their big bds lately. I am sure you would not want to hear the audio so just pretend it is coming from Ray Charles or your favorite singer. I think I will come to the Haloween party as an old geezer with little hair. Would anyone guess who I was? Life is good to us and we are thankful for each day. Good health to you all. Pat and WC

Rosemary, May soft be the grass you walk on, May fair be the skies above you, May true be the joys that surround you, May dear be the hearts that love you. Happy Birthday!! David, you are a gem! Your express yourself so well. Rosemary is really lucky.....in more ways than one. Are you two off to do a little gambling? How much did the frosted glass make? I don't remember if I saw the ending price.::Remember everyone October 31, trick or treat at Jacque's costumes are optional, fun and good times are manditory.

Happy Birthday Rosemary . . . I know it must be time to go to the Casino some place to celebrate your BD. The Halloween party sounds like a lot of fun. Has anyone thought about going as a Suma wrestler. WOW! My grandson (8) started his first year of football. Took him to practice. 2 hours a day 3 weeks in a row rain or SHINE. I thought all of us would remember those days!::::JimG::

Happy Birthday from Indiana, Rosemary, a couple of days late, but what the heck. I should have sent this yesterday, it was nice a sunny, now it's kind of gloome, rain, thunder, lightening, all those wonderful Midwest summertime fun things. I'd rather be in Biloxi at one of the casinos myself. Maybe not. I don't have much summer luck with the weather in that part of the country either. I wish I could get to SLO for the Big Bash, but not this year. The DL is making retirement noises again, this may be her last year at school. She's decided we're both getting too old to travel to all the places she wants to see, and neither of us are getting younger, I think. Her wreck has opened her eyes a little wider.

Just caught up on all the news. Sounds like everyone is busy as usual. Seems like we should be old enough to slow down and catch our breath. Then again maybe we don't want to do that.::Happy Birthday to you Rosemary and many more. Sid just celebrated his birthday last week at the coast at a golf tournament. Just where he wanted to be doing what he wants t::o do.::Everything is on track at Spyglass. They have new specialty market across the St. Large variety of specialty items as well as a Deli and fresh fruit items.::Remember to contact Jim Gonsalves if you are interested in playing Golf.::Thanks Jacque for the invitation, sounds like a lot of fun.::Looking forward to seeing everyone at Pismo.

Hi Ya'll,OK....The birthday wishes were so great, I have to break down and write. Thanks so much for such a pleasant surprise. Looking at the response it created, I should::probably have one every month. Although, at my (our) age, I really can't afford to squander them. I did have a wonderful birthday...3 grandkids spent the day and overnight....that sure made me realize it was #66. Looking forward to the Pismo trip. Love and Best Wishes to All Rosemary

HI ROSEMARY, YOU MADE HISTORY. YOU WROTE. GOOD TO SEE YOU ON. I THINK I REMEMBER SOMEONE SAYING YOU AND DAVE HAVE AN ANIVERSARY COMING UP. BEVERLY AND I HAD OUR 48TH MARCH 23RD. I WONDER HOW MANY OF OUR CLASSMATES HAVE BEEN MARRIED THAT LONG. I CAN THINK OF SEVERAL. LET'S COUNT THEM UP. LOVE BRAD

Aug 8, 2004 at 10:09:49 Dave (Baton Rouge)
We are talking about extending the Pismo get-together to Wednesday 11/3 to have lunch at Gorden Lu's Restaurant in Morro Bay. He will close the restaurant to the public, for the class. We will be able to order and pay for what you want or from a special menu. A bus has been found to carry us between Pismo Beach and Morro Bay for nominal fee. Let me (DAVE) know if there is any interest so the bus can be reserved and confirmation can be made with Gordon LU by the end of September. Gordon Lu is a remarkable individual. some of his experiences are totally unbelievable. If you think you grew up with nothing. Listen to what Gorden Lu had. Also don't forget the picnic and diner payments to Vera and contact JimG for golf.

Aug 13, 2004 at 13:23:20 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
I've waited 2 exta days and nothing! So let's see if this puts an additional spell on the site, remember always after I add comments, no one writes for days. Well it's been empty without my help for 2 days since Brad's comment and 3 days before that!::So here goes, Re: Halloween party, bring your appetites, we'll have a buffet spread, Plus I have a pool table and more than a couple cues....so anyone interested in a game or a tournament can have at it, the bar, living room, dining room and kitchen are all in one big open area so we can all visit. Cards are available as well as spoker chips, & dominos. There is a piano if anyone wants to entertain us or lead us in song, I'll even have it tuned! Come early,5 or 6 and stay late. David says we are not old and don't have to retire early. He says we can all take a page from Julia's Conrad and sleep til noon!::Just let me know if you're coming so I can get enough supplies.::Bill Rose do bring you sister Florence if she wants to come. Same for Carolyn Gilbert if she's interested. ::Here's the Computer man got to go!

Ellie, I hope you and your son get through Charley without any problems.

Aug 14, 2004 at 20:17:43 Ellie (Ft. Mess, Fla.)
Of course, we got through it, being good campers. My son Peder is here cause he can't get to his house on Sanibel.::::Peder brought a generator so we could wash clothes and keep the fridge and freezer going. I cooked on the BarB-Que. I had an extra family here and a single friend. It was busy.::::But it was fun. I love emergencies. But the heat could kill ya. Humidex 107. So we cooled off in the pool that was running over the top. A good time was had by all.::::The town is torn up, trailer parks are disasters. Pt. Charlotte and Captiva got hit severely. Just about like Andrew. It's not a pretty site. But we'll clean up and go on and hopefully I'll see you in November.

Keep intouch since other items are being added to our agenda everyday. Not a mini-reunion any longer.::Vera had talked to Ferman Espinoza and he told her Larry Galvan had passed away July 14th. Sorry we didn't know about it sooner. ::Hope all of you are making plans for Nov 1st.::::See you there::Betty::::::

I think sometime around today Bill Rose hit the number 66. Happy Birthday Bill.

Hey Bill,::"Happy = Happy Birthday" and "Many = Many More"::Best Wishes, Patty & Darold

Thanks for the early birthday greetings. I actually have four more days of 65. Birthday is on the 20th. Love getting the running start.::::Bill

Rosemary, A very belated Happy Birthday! By now you realize that age doesn't matter -- unless you're a cheese.

Aug 16, 2004 at 21:12:34 BillyC (In/Oh)
Hey, Ellie, did you have fun in the big wind? Those of us who were in the FarEast after High School have had a few experiences with Typhoons and such, 1 in 12 months in Korea, 6 in 3 years in Okinawa and an uncountable number in 4 years in Taiwan. Of course, the ones in Okinawa were the most fun, it's a tiny island, with long typhoon parties to pass them by. Never saw much damage though. You guys in Florida had a much harder time. We had WWII K-rations to much on during the wind, not much else but beer and soft drinks, or typhoon bottles of Saki. Oh well, the wind blows where and how fast it wants to.

Aug 17, 2004 at 16:09:27 Jacque (San Luis Obispo)
Ellie, is there anything we can do for you or your neighbors besides sending some cool weather? Are there supplies you are unable to get? If so let us know. I just read an article about the people in Punta Gorda and their quest for things.::After reading a few articles, I don't mind living where there's occasional earthquakes. Even when I live on a hill. I'm thinking of you and yours.

Aug 18, 2004 at 12:03:33 Dave (Baton Rouge)
They reopened Sanibel island for residents this morning. I understand the line of cars was 6 1/2 miles long waiting to get on the island. This is where Ellies son Peder lives. My guess is; they were in line waiting.

Aug 18, 2004 at 15:28:27 Ellie (Hurricane, Fla.)
Thank you all. Billy, I must address you first. Yes, do sent Saki!! I can bathe in it. Thank you Jacque, we have so much help here, why, the Gov and The Pres were here. I thought it would be nice of them to pick up a chain saw. But no, they just created a traffic jam to add to our own confusion. But we are getting all kinds of help.::::Now, the real news. Yours truly had little problem. Some friends came here after being evacuated, I cooked on the Weber, highly recommended. Next day son Peder, my secret weapon, Came with generator and all kinds of skill and tools. Then next day power was restored, telephone up, yesterday we got all channels on T.V. What more can you want.::::I always stock the house when we are warned ahead of time. I need a new piece of fence and that will be done on Friday by ::by Dan the Repair man. He's done work for me before and for as long as it lasts I'm greatful for the relationship.::::There are people far worse off than I. I called on my patient yesterday and he has no power. Long time for an elderly person. But his son bought a generator and 6 fans and I did my usual and other things and he was perfectly comfortable, and I took over extra bedding for him.::::I'm now working on my friends condo where the balcony was demolished and water seeped in to her white carpet and am awaiting an insurance adjuster and it will be awhile cause they must look after the homeless first. Surprisingly at this time I"m at my most patient. These friends are in England for the summer. So they saw the news on T.V. and hadan anxiety attack. ::::I spent some time at the hospital helping. And I'll do more as soon as I catch up on sleep.::Thank you all for just keeping in touch with me. It's truly heartwarming. Looking forward to seeing you. God Bless,Ellie

Aug 19, 2004 at 08:14:36 Ellie (Soggy Fla.)
They say it's good to release your thoughts at a time like this, so I'm doing it and probably clogging up your guest book, but there's more to this saga.::Peder lined up at 5:00am yesterday morning; it was a 6 mile line up. Got to see his home, not bad, and spent the day reroofing the neighbor who broke his leg. That's a story in itself. So when I heard from him he was beat from sun mostly and back in Ft. Myers staying with friends in SFT Myers, on a Generator that he maintained cause there's no sewer, good water or electric and the trees have been wiped out. No one was allowed to stay, on the island.::We had full cable t.v. but it's gone again. There's so much to do, I don't know how anyone has the time to sit and watch.::::Now it's showing signs of an emotional nature which occurs after a disaster so they've set up mental health counselors and if you've had a breakdown or depression (it can happen to men too)they are there to help.::They're giving out free ice, water, food etc.::It still rains every afternoon as usual. ::And life goes on. Every day another business opens and we see progress. Patience is the order of the day.::Have work to do today. Thank you for being there. Ellie

ELLIE, OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. BRAD

Aug 19, 2004 at 16:51:12 BillyC (In/OH)
Hey, Ellie, when I was experiencing those typhoons, I was still in my 20's, not our current advanced ages. My prayers and good wishes to you for your hard work and ssistance to others. It aint easy.

Aug 20, 2004 at 14:34:31 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Bill Rose, Happy No 66 Birthday again!! Ellie the next time I try to give you advice; remind me that you can take care of yourself, everyone around you and have a lot of experience in doing so. You are a survivor.

Aug 21, 2004 at 08:23:46 Ellie (Sunny Fl. Hot)
Many thanks Dave, But I value your advice and I really need it at this very moment. If you don't mind.::::How do I get pictures of the damage through the scanner to the e-mail. The friends in England wish to see their place.::::I have all the programs. See, it never ends.

Aug 24, 2004 at 02:40:42 Patty (Chanute)
Ellie,::We all know that this has been such a difficult and overwhelming time for you, and you sound as though you are handling it well. Better than well in fact. You have far exceeded everyone's expectations. Continue to hang in there Honey and follow in God's Footsteps. You are a kind and caring person, and I'm sure many people will be on the receiving end of your thoughtfullness. Our Prayers will be with you daily through these troubled times. Love, Patty & Darold

Aug 28, 2004 at 16:35:46 JimG (Tu;lare)
Ellie,::::I feel sympathy pains for you . . . Believe it or not our place in Pismo had a mini tornado, Mini Micro Burst and it tore off our roof and ruined a rear room in our home. It is a terrible site to see when you drive up at 10:00 at night and see a inch or two of rain pouring into your home. That was terrible and that is a second home and we could come home to Tulare and not have to put up with it everyday. Thank God for good adjusters . . . Everything is fine now! As you say, pull up your straps (bootstraps) and continue on everything will be back to normal.::::JimG::

Aug 30, 2004 at 09:01:19 JimG (Tulare)
Golf anybody?::::I know it might be a little early but if anyone is interested in setting up a tee time at the coast let me know. At this point I'm guessing about the same amount that played at Reno. Please contact me at Arlenejimjag@aol.com and we will get going on what course to play. ::::Thanks::JimG::

Aug 30, 2004 at 22:06:51 ellie (Fla.)
Thank you all for your support. It's nice to know that you're out there. For me it's been fine, I got my fence put up by my favorite repair man, Daniel. I'm lucky to have him. ::He's also going to be rebuilding the balcony on my friends condo as they are in England. They'll do a good job and I'll get it ship shape before they land here.::But there are the people still out there who haven't even had power yet in this 95 degree heat. No drinking the water and they're just getting garbage pickup..Today big dozers roamed the streets pushing up all the tree limbs and stumps and debris from the edges of lawns and they had this big claw and it clamped it's fingers around all this stuff and dumped it into huge dump trucks, then hauled it away, I know not where. It was like an invasion of mega machines.::Now we have Frances nibbling at our toes possibly. We wait and see, don't take the storm shields down just yet. They dare to predict 8 of these this season. Quotes from companies who do screening and cage etc. are 4 monthes down the road. Roofers are backed up and that's a switch for them.::::Anyway, I made a pork roast on the barbie that turned out like butter with a nice brandied peach glaze and a friend to join me, dip in the pool and life is good.

Sep 2, 2004 at 09:33:09 Ellie (Hurricane Fla.)
Don't mean to hog the site but we do have Frances out there.I am prepared again. There's no screening to be had. The contractors are at Depot and Lowes aat 6am. They buy up all of it. Plywood is still available and We have water. The Power companies are ready. We already have big cleanup crews from out of state still working here. I have propane for the BBQ so bring it on.

Sep 3, 2004 at 00:04:03 BillyC (In/Oh)
Hi Ellie, How're things in Florida? A little windy? When I arrived in Ft Walton Beach in 1972, there were at least two tornados the first day. One near Pensacola and one in Shalimar (the first of many, Shalimar is a tornaddo magnet). No Hurricanes came by to visit us, but we didn't feel left out. This time it's a female hurricane, bigger and more fierce. Maybe this one will pass you by. Hope so. That's what you get for living in such a nice place. They are predicting a horrible winter for us, who knows? Anyway, Keep you Bikini dry and your whistle wet.

Sep 3, 2004 at 10:08:04 Jacque (sunny & dry in San Luis Obispo!)
Who is the prozac man? are we being invaded by Spam? Ellie, I'm thinking of you! Now with Billy's quote of keeping your Bikini dry and whistle wet I'm visualizing you doing just that while you are BBQing and waiting out the storm. We are experiencing fog this weekend in the AM but the weatherman promises that we will soon be into the "indian summer" season with little to no fog and clear weather! Let's hope it contiues through the first part of November. Remember, all of you who are coming to the reunion.......get an absentee ballot! Election day is the 2nd of November!

Sep 3, 2004 at 14:05:32 Dave (Baton Rouge)
The prozac man went to find someone who could use his product. When he comes back he will find the site door locked. Ellie, the thing I really like about Florida is the weather and what I really dislike about it is the weather! The new storm coming should be to the east of you. It will be a lot different than last time when it was just west of you. We were without power here for a week when Hurricane Andrew passed 15 miles to the west of us here in BR. What has amazed me about the Hurricanes and Tornados; is how the power companies band together. Our local utility has 100's trucks in Florida right now. I also heard that a convoy of trucks came through here from Texas after Charley did its thing.

Sep 3, 2004 at 14:44:06 Joan Florence (Bakersfield)
Hi everyone. I thought I'd check out the web site for the first time in a while. I've been listening to the reports of Charley & Francis on the weather reports and I didn't realize you are right in the middle of it, Ellie. I hope Francis cranks down or moves away from you. Sounds like you are coping amazingly well. When this is all over you deserve a medal, or a least a good long rest. ::::Can't wait till the Nov. get together. I hope all is well with everyone. I'm fine. ::Joan

Sep 3, 2004 at 17:14:46 Ellie (??)
You don't know from what you're saying, Billy Boy! A bikini and near the BBQ,please save yourselves from a view like that. Last time I was 12 did I ever even think of a bikini. Did they have them in those days? This Hurricane is going to be a piece of cake. It's already down in intensity. I got the whole scoop yesterday when my car pooped out right in front of the Goodyear store, they pushed it in and while they were discovering that I needed an alternator, the machanic explained to me about how the cool front from the west will push Francis over and make it easy on us. He was right. The car is still under warranty so I had a free tow to the dealer. But I learned alot.::Jacque, thanks, I saved the letter so I'll have it down the road. I don't know details yet. Joan, looking forward to seeing you. MY cell phone gave it up but I think I'm prepared for this. I got steaks and all the things that go with it. Bar's open. Let er rip.

Sep 6, 2004 at 08:20:19 Ellie (Ft. Myers)
Frances just grazed us. Lots of wind and rain, adding a little more damage to vulnerable areas. No problem here. We'll watch Ivan now. Walmart was open through Frances. That's the barometer.

Sep 10, 2004 at 14:40:17 Joan (Bakersfield)
Every time I turn on the TV it seems they are talking about Florida and Charlie, Francis and Ivan. Ellie, I hope you're tucked in nice and safe again. I'm thinking of you.::Joan

Sep 11, 2004 at 17:30:08 Rosemary (Baton Rouge)
I may get the hang of this guest book thing yet. It only took me 30 minutes yesterday to figure out how to look up a telephone number. I called Bill Rose. He had emailed us earlier in the week that he is having surgery Tuesday for bladder cancer. I was going to give him a little pep talk but he is so up beat, I forgot about that. Needless to say Bill, we wish you the best and our prayers are with you. Dave and our son-in-law Buddy went deep sea fishing yesterday, they really caught some and tonight he is making us blackened redfish. Take Care, Love to All

Sep 12, 2004 at 07:09:35 BRAD (VISALIA)
GOOD MORNING CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS, BILL, OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. GOD HAS ALREADY MADE PROVISIONS FOR HEALING, BUT WE ARE GOING TO ASK FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR YOU INCLUDING A SPEEDY AND FULL RECOVERY. WE WANT YOU TO BE BACK TO FULL SPEED BY NOV. 1. BEVERLY AND I HAVE BEEN SPENDING A LOT OF TIME AT THE JOB SITE. IT SEEMS THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE AN APPETITE FOR OUR BUILDING MATERIALS. WE'VE LOST 11 WINDOWS AND MISC. LUMBER. ANYWAY, IT'S GOOD TO READ THE COMMENTS. I WISH MORE OF YOU WOULD WRITE. ANY SMALL TIDBIT LETS US KNOW YOU ARE THERE. ELLIE, LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE A DATE WITH IVAN. WE PRAY THAT ALL WILL GO WELL. I WISH ALL OF YOU A GREAT DAY AS WE HONOR GOD ON HIS DAY. LOVE AND BLESSINGS TO ALL. BRAD

Sep 13, 2004 at 08:30:38 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Haven't Gone into Classmates for almost a year before this morning. Discovered a couple of names. One is Rex Morris. I don't remember Rex, but that means nothing in our format. The second is someone we looked for and couldn't come up with a clue to her name or where she lived. I'm talking about Charlene Prusso. Anyone out there have a Classmates Gold Card so we contact Charlene and Rex? Let me know.

Sep 13, 2004 at 15:16:30 Ellie (Fla.)
Hang on to your hat, David, you may get a touch of wind. We escaped it once again. ::Bill Rose, I said a little prayer for you, and usually I'm very lucky.

Sep 15, 2004 at 02:27:52 Patty (Chanute)
Bill,::Our Prayers are with you, as I know everyone else is doing the same. With God as your co-pilot, you will come through this with flying colors. Keep us informed and may God Bless You!! Much Love, Patty & Darold

Sep 15, 2004 at 09:20:03 JimG (Tulare)
Bill,::::Just like a team . . . everyone is rooting for you! See you at Pismo? Dave now I know why LSU Tigers want to beat the HURRICANES (Miami) Good Luck with Ivan. Also is your kids catamaran being moved somewhere? Keep it safe we need to go for a ride on it!::::JimG::::::

Sep 15, 2004 at 23:24:08 Wcrow (truckee for now)
Why don't we just name this big storm "Ellie" I feel we could be more personally involved with that name. Good luck to all of you in harms way Bill Rose I am thinnking of you and wish a speedy recovery for you. I am totally focused on helping my daughter get her life back together after having a serious bout with depression and chemical abuse. I will be out of touch with the site as I help her get into treatment. Seems like so many of my friends have had similar problems with that generation dealing with life's problems. Once a parent always a parent.

Sep 16, 2004 at 08:42:00 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Got an email from Sonia, Bill is doing fine after a long surgery. The Doctor's will decide if Bill needs to go through Chemo treatment. This will determine if we see them in Pismo Beach next month. The Indio Moon Cat was left in its berth between two large yachts with crews aboard. They promised to take care of the Cat. They don't want a little 38' Cat bumping into their Yachts. We know there was a large surge on the lake, but the boat should be OK Hope Hope. The berth is a floating dock. Go to: http://www.indigomoon.us/ We had some wind here and zero rain. Nice to be on the west side of the storm. Wayne, that's what its all about. You are a winner.

Sep 17, 2004 at 09:04:46 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I talked to Zane Newsom the other day. He sold his cattle ranch in Huntley WY. and purchased a farm in Torrington, WY. The distance he moved wasn't very far, but his phone number did change.

Sep 17, 2004 at 10:18:33 Jacque P. (San Luis Obispo w/ fog & sun!)
I'm thinking of all of you and keeping you in my thoughts. Wayne, You have a difficult path ahead, being a parent is a life time job. Bill Rose, you know we are thinking of you, speaking of Bill's, Billy C. where are you? AND Bill..y Streshley, have you dropped out? David, I'll try the call this AM and by the way, you have your gold card member from this date for 1 year, if I get tons of SPAM again, I'm leaving home! So use it well I'll try to keep a lookout too. I'm happy to hear you have survived with only the wind. Ellie, hope everything is going well, I hear there is another storm forming and the weather man just said there are a "few" more behind it!::Let's all pray that they spin out into the atlantic and bypass all land. I've got the "kitchen" open again cooking for mom, I'm off to see her on the 21st for the day, then back here for a busy bbusy few weeks, I'm thinking about going back to work so that I can slow down. Rosemary, have you found any more really good deals? David, Leaning Tree cards have a series of Christmas cards out with collector trains as the theme, If you want the pamplet let me know. On my way to "stock the Bar" for halloween, see ya!

Sep 18, 2004 at 18:01:21 BillyC (OH/IN)
I've really screwed up now. Yesterday I typed a message on the guest book, and it messed up everything. We have a new number on the counter, and my really, really important message was lost. I wish I could remember what it was. It must have been Ivan. He came by yesterday morning and brought a little bit of wind, enough that I had to lock my front door to keep it from being opened all the time. It lasted about 30 minutes. The east side of Cincinnati got a little rain, but it was gone by noon, and the sun came out by 5:00 pm. They were predicting rain the whole weekend, up until about 4:00 pm, then they told us the rain was gone for good, the temps dropped from the mid 80's to the high 60's in the day time, and the temp dropped from the low 60's to 44 this morning - I even had to turn on the heat for some of my visitors last night, the first time since early April. Most of this has happened since I wrote my note yesterday. The rest of my note was mindnumbingly forgetful, as usual for me. I probably wrote about Ivan hitting the Panhandle of NW Florida. In the two years I was there in the early 70's we never had anything like Ivan come by for us. Now that it has happened, maybe I will go look for a retirement home there for when the DL retires. She wants to go to California with the rest of her family, I prefer staying this side of the Mississippi River. Bill Rose, our best wishes and prayers go out to you during your Illness and quick recovery.

Sep 18, 2004 at 19:15:54 Ellie (Fla.)
Dear Jacque, It's a go!! I'm hopeing that the worst is over hurricane wise. Is there anything in La-La land that I could bring to the party? I'm so excited!! Mama gets to go bye-bye. I'll have to hotel my precious Willie. BooHoo. Why is that, I never minded leaving the kids. Billy, you should see what's happened down here. It's a month already and there are still blue tarps on roofs around the town. And the bushes and trees are still everywhere. They now allow people on Sanibel, and I think something like 10% still without power.::It's time for me to get back to my project of the day, cleaning the lanai and pool. I pressure washed and laid a coat of sealer on the river rock. Pretty darned good too.::See ya all at the ranch.

Sep 18, 2004 at 19:25:09 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hi Billy, This wasn't your problem. It was my world class server. They deleted the last entry in the guest book and reset the counter. I had to reset the counter. We decided it was around 14,445. Let me know if anyone knows a better number. I hate to lose the count after three plus years.

Sep 21, 2004 at 00:50:03 Jacque (Sunny but cooler SLO)
David, haven't connected w/ Charlene Prusso, I've been too busy, sorry, will try tomorrow. I also sent Michael Baker a note, didn't we loose him? He has received my email so maybe we will hear something. Ellie, I'll be looking for you at the end of October, I know how hard it is to leave the pets. We get Jonelle to house sit so that we don't have to kennel the dogs and cat. Our children remind us constantly about their pets and how they stayed outside and now we allow these in, etc. ::Is the final count in for the Halloween party and the Bus to Gordon Lu's? I'm having dinner with Gordon next week and I also need to order the Bus. I could get a smaller bus if the list is complete. Let's hope this weather continues, no FOG, and sun, Plus it isn't 105 like it was a couple of weeks ago.::I'm off to Fresno for the day tomorrow, I spent Saturday cooking meals for mom from 10am to 7pm. These should last her a couple of months.....til after the reunion. Looking forward to seeing all of you. Anyone not able to come remember, if you come this way during the year stop and call me. If I'm home I'd love to see you. More soon!

Hey, Ellie, I know what you're Talking about. I went to Slidell, LA in 1969 for a friend's wedding. Later that year, a girl named Camille came through. In 1972 I went down to Biloxi, MS, for a few months. The beaches were still closed, US 90 along the beach was still under repairs, and there were still houses along the beach still messed up. They weren't fixed probably until the casinos were built. We didn't have minute by minute coverage by TV then, So we didn't get to see everything as soon as it happened. Hang in tere, Ellie, things will get better (maybe).

Thankyou Billy, yes, yesterday my old fence that got blown down and that remained a monument on the edge of the lawn finally was taken away. The screen man is here this afternoon. It's a lesson in patience. Home ownership is such a joy, in between repairs. Alternater for the car, solenoid for the mower, and the beat goes on. I'm not complaining. Others have been just wiped out. Anyway, the humidity has somewhat lowered and the temp has touched into the 80"s so there's hope. We need a rest from the heat. I will enjoy a break to Calif. We'll all have fun.

This is an update on Bill after a Very long hard week and 2 surgeries. After the first surgery he did not respond as well as we had hoped and on Sunday he had a leakage in the small intestines and had to return to surgery on Monday for about 3 hours. They were able to "fix" things with that, but he had developed breathing problems from the first surgery which became a very dangerous with the 2nd surgery. At this time he had to be put on a ventilator and was touch and go (big time) for about 12 hours. We were told that he could be on this for several days. Tuesday was a wait and see day with every type of Dr under the sun but late last night we were told that things were looking up and at 6 AM this morning they would start taking away the sedation in order to "try" to also cut back on the ventilator as he was breathing a breath or 2 on his on. Everything was going well and at about 11:00 this AM he came off the ventilator and is breathing on his own with just the oxygen on. He is not sedated and is only getting pain meds every 3 hours as needed. So at this point the Dr cautioned us that he is by no means at of the woods because of the infection, etc. When he was able to talk and only after the RN had left the room that he ask me if everything was going to be all right. At this point I don't think he realizes that he lost a week. but that's OK, he's fighting back real well and as all of know Bill, he's a very determined person.::It's been a long day so thanks to everyone for the cards, flowers, calls prayers and visits. Will keep you updated::::

Hi from Visalia. ::Bill, we all know how tough you really are. Hang in there, we are praying for you and we wish a speedy recovery for you.::Wayne, our prayers are with you today. Hope these next storms are not so severe.::We are going to have a good turnout for our class reunion. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone. Hi everyone,::My computer crashed 2 weeks ago and it's finally up and running again this evening. It seems I had a virus, plus some really junky stuff my grandson downloaded, plus there was dog hair in the CPU. Imagine! Well, anyway I didn't know about Bill. I'm sending very, very good thoughts your way, Bill. I know you'll come through this and be fine. I'm also sending those good thoughts to the Crows. Your daughter is lucky to have you to lean on right now. I hope things settle down so you can come to the reunion. I am really looking forward to it. I'm about to move from a one to a two person household. My grand daughter is moving in with me while she attends Bakersfield College which is just down the road. I'm going to enjoy the company. Ellie, you must be ready for a nice long rest. Take care.

Well here we are in Tampa, Florida taking some time off to be with son and grandkids. We have a storm Jeanne coming at us. should be at full strength within the hour. We still have power!! But not for long. Jacque and Betty: Received a email from Charlene saying they couldn't make it to Pismo. Got a picture from her of the missing 6th grade class. Will get it on the site when we return. Power is flickering better stop. Have Bio of Stretch on the site DG & RO

You know, it's strange how some folks like to vacation in the wierdest places at unusual times. Nevertheless, we can exchange experiences in Pismo. David, Hang on.

Sep 28, 2004 at 15:37:34 Dave (Baton Rouge)
We are home in Baton Rouge. Florida is getting to be an exciting vacation spot. We had a great fire works display behind our sons house after a tree fell on the high voltage lines. I have added the new sixth grade picture from Charlene to the site. There were 5 classes in the 6th and we now have five pictures. There are many in the class I can't identify and I need some help. I have a copy of the sixth grade graduation exercises. It list the following teachers Mrs. Atkinson, Mrs. Darter, Mrs. Huff, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Williams.( 3 women and 2 men. ) The picture show 2 woman and three men. I know for sure Mrs. Darter and Mrs. Huff were sith grade teachers. Like I said, I need help. Also a picture of Charlene and her husband has been placed on the family page. Charlene plans to attend the reunion after-all

WWWWWWWhere is Parkfield?????? Don't tell me it's next door to San Luis Obispo!

Sep 28, 2004 at 18:54:17 BRAD (VISALIA)
ELLIE, PARKFIELD, CA. IS ALMOST DUE WEST OF CORCORAN. BY AIR, ABOUT 70 MILES. IT IS ABOUT 20 MILES NORTH OF SHANDON. SHANDON IS 20 MILES EAST OF PASO ROBLES. PARKFIELD IS A HOT SPOT FOR EARTH MOVEMENT. THE GOVERNMENT HAS EARTHQUAKE TESTING EQUIPMENT THERE THAT MONITORS 24/7 YEAR AROUND. FROM SAN LUIS OBISPO, IT IS ABOUT 75 MILES. BRAD

Sep 29, 2004 at 10:38:14 Ellie (Fla.)
Brad, Thank you for the info. So for 75mi. I have no worries. Right? I've forgotten what it's like to live in earthquake state. But I know a lot about hurricanes. See you soon.

Sep 29, 2004 at 17:27:14 Sonia (Columbia, MO.)
Received from Sonia, Dave ::Thanks so much for keeping in touch. As of today, Bill is getting stronger. He is still in ICU and still on TPN feeding. I don't remember if I sent you the email that he had to have a second surgery a week ago this past Monday which was really tough as he was on the ventilator 100% for 2 days which had all of us on edge. It is and will be a slow process for his recovery, also he is having trouble with his breathing and is still in oxygen. But Florence, his sister, and I are very excited to see even the slightest improvement. Will try to keep you posted as things progress. Thanks so much,Sonia

Sep 30, 2004 at 00:01:39 Jacque (SLO we felt the Earthquake!)
Hi everyone. We had another 5.2 and a 4.7 today about 10:15 am, we have had over 100 after shocks but you don't really feel them . We have had little shakes all day long for the last 2 days. You can look them up on their web site the after shocks have been going on from Paso Robles/San Simeon EQ for along time. Yesterday's EQ made the pool table light swing a bit. But it didn't roar like the one in December. my grand daughter continued to play on the floor and sat through the whole thimg. It was very short too. I was at the Physical Therapist's this morning and if I hadn't been sitting down I don't think I would have noticed. You don't feel them most of the time. Parkfield has average a 6.0 or better quake every 25 years, this one was 37 since the last one. Rule of thumb is that they don't "usually" strike in the same place again for years. They are easier to take than a yearly hurricane season!::So Come scare me on Halloween and forgetaboutit!

Oct 1, 2004 at 09:53:21 Sonia (Columbia, MO.)
Update from Sonia, Dave. Well, another rough night and day. Yesterday the Drs decided that Bill could have water and tea, slowly. He drank about 1/2 cup altogether and last night his temp shot up and by this morning his was showing signs of leakage in the gut. He also has fluid between his lungs and the sac which they tried to drain off late this afternoon and they also ran a scan with drinking the white stuff to see if they could tell where the leakage is. Of course we won't know anything until I talk to the Drs in the morning. They brought in a Dr on the infection issue and they added 3 more antibiotic so we will have to wait and see. The Drs say that he just isn't healing and it could be because of a Lupus factor, so I don't know. It's a wait and see and day by day.::Will update as I have anything of importance.::Sonia

Oct 1, 2004 at 23:56:52 Jacque (Earthquake central !)
Hi everyone, we've had 800 aftershocks, some of them registering 5.0......unless you are sitting you usually don't feel them. :: I'd like to propose that we all take 1 minute each day at 12 noon and think good thoughts, or say a little prayer for Bill Rose. I have done this in the past for my friends and thought that if we all did it together, what a powerful thing it could be. I'll be thinking of you all, but especially my friend Billy Rose, at noon each day until I see you!

Ok everyone and anyone who just might drop by, I need to send you maps via email, it's easy to find but out in the country on a private road. I have a map and directions on my computer and will send it. So if you haven't let me know, send me an email soon. I'm also ordering the bus and having lunch w/Gordon next week. I'm looking forward to Oct31- Nov 3. Plus Ellie's coming early! and staying with me. Remember, we sometimes have warm weather in Nov. but we also can have cool to cold nights.::The weather is strange this year, drippy fog at night and high 70's and 80's during the day lately. But they keep predicting rain! Plus, we haven't had a new earthquake for a couple of weeks, and haven't felt an aftershock either. Things are quieting down.

Oct 9, 2004 at 22:29:38 Sonia (Columbia, MO.)
It's Sat PM and I just got home from the hospital and things are looking better for Bill. The Drs all feel like he is making good progress. They are planning on letting him start "eating" maybe Monday or Tuesday. If that all goes well, then he may get to come home at the end of the week. He has a long ways to go but if he gets to come home, I know that will help so much. Just thought I'd let you all know even though I'm afraid to shout to loudly, as I know how quickly things can go wrong but maybe this time things are going to be OK as the Drs think. ::Will keep you all posted and maybe the next email will be from Bill!!!::::Sonia

I stumbled across this web site as I was looking for a possible site with some of my classmates who attended Corcoran High School in the years 1980-1984. I am so glad I stumbled onto this site, it's incredible. I really admire the way you have all kept in touch with one another over the years...awesome! The stories and pictures are so great! My father attended Corcoran High School in the 60's, Frank Gonzales Sr. he passed on October 14, 2002. As I get older I realize how hard it is to keep in touch with old friends and talk about some of our better and innocent days. Thanks for the site I've really enjoyed reading your stories and viewing your pictures.

Hello good friends. Sorry to be off so long but family issues are dominant these days. I did go down to a Rose Bowl team reunion and saw Bill there . We had a great time. I send all of my prayers to Bill and Sonia and lots of back day prayers also. Get well Bill! I am wrestling with a grown daughter and her now relapse after being admitted to a treatment program . She waited 7 weeks to get in. Was in good spirits when I saw her and then the next day was kicked out. She claims innocence but I just stay neutral and say " what is the next step" I am trying to get her into a shared rental so she can get a job and continue to get help. Without help she will not get better and she knows that. The drug use is minor and is a product of the deep depression which needs to be treated. I have made 14 trips to Sac to get her help and I am so tired. We may have to skip the Pismo party due to our mental and physical state. It is snowing up here now aND I planned to be in Palm Desert now but you knnow what good plans are for. Love to all of you.WC

Dear Wayne, Do try and come to the reunion. It's probably the best therapy for both of you to be surrounded by people who know you, understand and care.::I, personally, would like to talk with you as we suddenly have a topic of utter importance that we can explore. I've had a lot of experience,25 years. Now at 42 he has been clean and stable for 8 years. There is hope and there is a path.::I know nothing about football, but I know a lot about life.

Wayne & Pat, Ellie is right, we love you both and want to help. Ellie, you are a wonderful woman, I love reading your messages, they are always so interesting and full of wisdom. Talked to Nathaniel and Georgia last night, He is getting up at 4am Monday Nov 1 to haul the BBQ etc to Shell Beach/Pismo. We need to give him a great big Thank you. It rained over 2.5 inches her yesterday and last night. It is suppose to rain again this weekend. Lets hope it quits. We are now 2.30 inches over the normal for this time of year! We usually have hot weather until after Thanksgiving. When they give the 7 day forcast that includes Nov 1 & 2, I'll post it. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I added a link to the guestbook page that Julia shared with us. It's a ebay item that has had over 1,000,000 hits in seven days. It comes from England and is written with a British accent. Also, I would like to know what 6th grade class B. Connally, D. Folsom, T. Martinez, B. Rose, C. Stidham, M Johnson, J Griffeath, B. Stevens and E. Taub were in.

Thanks to all of Bill's classmates for the prayers and moral support. He seems to be on the road to recovery. I spent a week and a half with Sonia when things looked pretty bad for Bill - but he fought the odds and I believe he will get well.::As Bill and Sonia will not be able to attend the reunion, neither will my husband and I. Have a Great Time. ::Florence ::

Oct 24, 2004 at 17:57:32 BillyC (In/Oh)
I remember the 6th grade, what room we were in, but I don't remember the the teacher or her name. The room was in the middle room of the three rooms on the North end of the main building.

Oct 25, 2004 at 10:52:34 Sonia (Columbia, MO.)
Received from Sonia 10/24: Well, I had postponed sending out an email for a while hoping that Bill would be home by now. We thought that he would get to come home today but he started another temperature so they said maybe tomorrow, then when the Dr came in today he was concerned about his temperature and wants to do another scan hoping to find the pockets of fluid that is causing the problem, then drawing them off. Later, about noon things broke loose somewhere and gushed from the incision so at this point I don't know what they are going to do but I sure don't expect him home before the middle of the week if then. He has no appetite and gets nauseated when he takes a few bites and says his stomach hurts and the hot flashes that he has is almost unbearable for him. The Drs say that this is all because of the infection that he has. He's rally having a hard time with all of this as I can understand, I think I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. ::If anyone is in Columbia and wants to come by for a FEW minutes I know he would like that. I really appreciate those of you that have taken the time to come see him and the calls, cards and prayers. It all really helps. I will let you know as thing happen. Sonia

Dear Wayne : I am Gwen Florence's daughter, and I " stop in " at this site from time to time. I would like to recommend a group that you and Pat may find helpful as you face this challenge with your daughter. It is called NAMI, which stands for National Alliance of Mental Illness. It is a support system for the Family/ Friends who have loved ones who are challenged with mental illness. NAMI has LOTS of information to assist you in coping, understanding and dealing with this difficult and sad hand you and your daughter have been dealt. You will also meet MANY others who are in the same " boat " that you are in. Mental illness is very frustrating for all those who have it AND all those who have loved ones with it. My son has OCD, and that is why I know about this WONDERFUL organization; it has provided more insight and comfort for my husband and I than I can begin to express. As a matter of fact, I am scheduled for training next spring so that I may become a facilitator /educator of our local NAMI " family to family " meetings. You are so correct when you state that your daughter's addiction is a minor problem; mental illness is a huge struggle, but it can be won!" Self medicating " is often the method chosen by our loved ones when they are trying to "silence" the mental illness they have. NAMI may be able to assist you with up to date info that will lead your family to victory over this monster. Email me @ peacelloyd@juno.com if you should like to discuss this further.Good Luck to you all. I am praying for each of you. ----- Kate

David, 6th grade, was that the year part of us got sent to the new "John C. Freemont" school about 2 or 3 blocks north of my house? I have a picture of a group of us on the playgrounds at that campus. I have a question too, who was the 5th grade teacher, that didn't last the year,I was in his class. He taught us to sing songs that he knew, one was the "Drunkards song" and other "saloon songs. I can only remember this "we're poor little lambs that have lost our way, bah, bah, bah". I think, I got him fired by singing the songs at home. I guess there were other complaints about him from the town residents and then I sang the "saloon songs"! My Dad was president of the school board! It seems like the principal took over the class for the rest of the year. Also didn't we have temporary type class rooms in the 5th grade. Individual type buildings on one end of the playground at Central School.

Oct 25, 2004 at 18:55:06 BillyC (In)
Yes, Jacque, 5th grade was in the temp buildings near the north end of the schoolgrounds. I remember my teacher, but not his name. I know he was a Mennonite, and his wife wore one of those little lace things on her hair. I remember the John C. Fremont School. We lived next to that school in my junior and senior years. I remember my first younger sister going to that school, but none of our class did. I think it opened after we got into high school. Dave, I had a copy of my 1st grade picture up until I retired in 1999. then all of those pictures disappeared. I had a few of the individual pictures that we got later on instead of the group ones. I can remember all the classrooms I was in, but not the teachers name, except Mrs Smith in 3rd grade and Mrs Payne in the 4th grade. Mrs Smith was the 3rd grade teacher for the first four of the Connally kids, over a period of twenty years.

Oct 26, 2004 at 10:07:01 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Bill and Sonia: Hang In There; everyone is behind you and praying. About the 6th grade. I have the graduation program that list 192 students. I have five class pictures of 179 students. I can't believe the was another class of 13 students. There are 18 students, I would know, that are not in any pictures. Billy, I remember the middle room of the north wing as being the restroom.

Now that you mention it, I remember standing up singing the Whiffinpoof song. I thought it was his alma mater. I think he had dark hair. That's all I know but the classroom was a portable.

Oct 26, 2004 at 18:44:45 Joan Florence (Bakersfield)
I remember the 5th grade teacher who was Mennonite. His name was Mr. Sherman. I had him for 5th grade the year after you. Bill & Sonia, we are all thinking of you. Sonia, I know you are just thinking of Bill right now, but I hope you are taking care of yourself too. When Bill comes home he's going to need you healthy. I hope that time comes soon. It is raining so hard here in Bfield today. I hope it is pretty at the beach next week. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again. ::Joan

Good news, Bill got to come home today. Still pretty week and tired but home looks good to him and it's good to have him home and not have to be in the hospital. It's going to be a long and slow process but all we have is time. We can just sit and watch it snow this winter. Thought I'd let you all know. Thanks Sonia

Good Morning from Visalia. It is another beautiful day.::I just wanted to comment on our Mini Reunion at the Spyglass Inn in Sell Beach.::We had 46 classmates and guest attend. We started on Sunday evening with a Halloween Party at Jacque's home. After a frightening trip there, we had a great time. Hospitality' food' drinks and guests were Great. Monday we had a bar-b-que in the park with beautiful weather, beautiful oceanview and great food. Nat cooked tri-tip, chicken and ribs. Tri-tip and chicken was delicious (not sure about the ribs). Hospitality room was open almost 24 hrs a day. Thanks to Brad shift at 4 a.m.::Tuesday we did shopping, golfing, dominos and lots of talking. We had a wonderful dinner at the Spyglass Inn with some special guest. Trancito Soliz & his wife Minga. This was their 1st reunion and we were very happy to see them after so many years. Also Frank Gomez was there for the 1st time so good to see him. They promised us they would be at our next one. ::Wednesday was topped off with a shuttle ride to the Coffee Pot in Morro Bay for lunch by a very special person.::I can not find the appropriate words to describe our few day together. Maybe this is just one of those time YOU JUST HAD TO BE THERE.::::See you soon::Betty G

Hi everyone,::Well, it's Thurs. evening and I'm finally home. It feels so good to be home, but I miss all of you. This was such a good get-together. I enjoyed every minute. I don't think there are many classes that have stayed so close, but Stan and I always did say this class is special. I'm with you, Brad, the weather was suberb. For those of you who left on Wed., the rains and wind came Wed. night. My mobile home has a metal roof and it was very loud. It was still raining when I left, but it was a pretty day in Bfield. That's a switch. Stay happy.........Joan

Great job Nat and of course what makes it all happen is all the great classmates that were there! Hope everyone got home safely as we did . . . Waiting for Mel and Elaine to report in on their drive back to Oregon with all the stormy weather.::::Jim & Arlene::::

Hi All, Great reunion! Betty and Sid you are going to be a hard act to follow! I put Ellie on the Plane at 6:00pm she won't get back to Sunny Florida until Saturday noon! I didn't realize it was so hard to get outor into Florida. It was a week of fun , just like we still lived across the alley and had never left.::Today we had a lovely traditional Danish lunch, with ALL the trimmings & the correct drinks!!! David, How many stops did the two of you make on the way to SLO? Thurday it rained over 2.40 inches! The reunion sure had the correct window of time for good weather. It's suppose to rain again this evening but was sunny all day. I am off to Fresno Sunday afternoon. My oldest daughter is having some tests and I want to be there, you never get over being a parent! I enjoyed every minute visiting with everyone. Remember if you are in the area please stop in and say Hello!::PS. Jim....are you in the printing mode or do are messages now get repeated?

Nov 6, 2004 at 15:04:17 Dave (BR, LA.)
Jacque, Going out we stopped in Phoenix. Total time NO to SLO was 6 hours. Coming back we stopped in LA. Total time SLO to NO was 8 hours. I'll trade an extra two hour for two plane tickets anytime. During the last two days I have made changes to the 2004 reunion, members, addresses, missing, 4th grade #2, 5th grade #2, 6th grade #1, #2 & #5 and senior-trip pages.

Nov 6, 2004 at 19:45:19 Jacque (SLO)
David, can you fly from NO to Ft Myers? Billy C. We did go to John C. Freemont, our teacher was Byron Johnson (6th Grade). We had another school Bret Harte. I think we all graduated together from 6th grade.

Nov 6, 2004 at 21:37:05 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Jacque you can fly from NO to Tampa, then take a Mickey Mouse plane to Fort Myers. Best is to go from SLO to Phoenix to Tampa on American West. Then get a Puddle Jumper to Fort Myers. We fly to Tampa often and it's an hour flight from NO.

Hello to all classmates and a special thanks to those who put themselves out to plan, host, cook, and enntertain our minireunion is Pismo. Pat and I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers that keep coming our way for our daughter. Your personal stories gave us strength to continue our plan to help her get back to the woman she really is. Thank you again. We knew we made the right choice to come to the party as soon as we arrived and felt the caring and support from all of you. Stay safe in your lives until we meet again in Visalia.

Has anyone been in contact with Eddie Harris lately? . . . Bakersfield reunion was the last time I talked with he and his wife . . . He's not listed on the members page either!::::JimG::::

Nov 7, 2004 at 20:49:56 BillyC (In/Oh)
I'm glad to see that everyone had a good time at the reunion this year. I really would have liked to have been there too, but that's the way it goes. Jacque, I guess I was not aware of the Fremont school that early. I was living on Hall Ave up until I was a Junior, So I didn't pay much attention to the Northern part of Corcoran untill we moved to Patterson Ave, right across the street from Bret Harte. My brother, Jack, has moved into a retirement home now and has a lot of time on his hands, and is newly computer active and wants to start a website for Classes 52 thru 55 like ours. He really likes our website alot. If any of you have siblings in those years who have access to computers, let me know their e-mail addresses and I can pass them on to him. He has already been back to Corcoran and talked with the school people and Moonyean Gilkey about getting a list to the 52-55 classmates to start a survey to see if anyone is interested in getting a website organised. ::

Nov 7, 2004 at 21:23:09 Sonia (Coulmbia, MO.)
Just wanted to past on the latest with Bill. Thursday night we had to go to the ER with a shortness of breath and a very heavy feeling in his chest, also the heart rate was 143. He didn't have a heart attack and no blood clots. They felt sure that he had fluid in the sac around the heart but an echo showed nothing and they call the condition a-feb or rapid heart beating. At one time the rate reached 202 on Sat. They put him on several meds but he has had 2 more episodes since yesterday so tomorrow they will do a heart-cath to see if they can find out anything more. So at this point I don't know what the Dr has in mind for Bill. They did another ct scan of all the surgery they had done and said everything looked great. I don't know when he will be home so I guess we will live at the hospital for a while. Sonia

Henry Spencer has added his name to the 1956 Corcoran Classmates page. Jacque, I think you should email Henry again. Eddie Harris is on our member list and his address, email and phone number are on the address page. Give him a call, write him a letter or e-mail him.

Nov 9, 2004 at 18:08:40 Ellie (Fla.)
Welcome home to Henry Spencer and Eddie Harris. Long time no see. But that can change quickly when you tune in to our website. There are wonderful events to attend and the guest book is just waiting for your input. So, spend a moment and share with us. ::I'll start by saying that they found me about a year ago and I've attended a reunion in Reno and a get-together in Pismo Beach. Well worth the trip from Florida. The chat with our fellow classmates is lots of fun, trying to piece our pasts together and to have memories of young lifes,as they were.::I spent 34 years in Canada. Join in and let's hear from you. P.S. My name was Elinore Taub.

Nov 12, 2004 at 00:56:13 Ellie (Fla.)
I know it's way past my bedtime but I just thought I'd drop in to see if anyone was awake. Probably not.::Anyway, I wanted to extend my thanks to Betty&Sid and the others who made our Pismo Picnic Party so successful. It was worth the trip.::Bill Connolly where are you? It's been so quiet, I guess we're all talked out. I'll think of something.

Nov 12, 2004 at 08:40:25 BRAD (VISALIA)
HELLO BROTHERS AND SISTERS. THROUGH PRAYING FOR OTHERS, GOD HAS BEEN MINISTERING TO ME. WHEN WE HAVE A NEED, AND THEN TURN TO GOD FOR HELP, WE HAVE HOPE. THE SEED OF FAITH IS GERMINATED AND BEGINS TO GROW. THAT FAITH BIRTHS A LIFE IN THE SPIRIT. (BY INVITING THAT SPIRIT TO GROW IN US, WE ARE "BORN AGAIN"). THE SPIRIT SEES GOD AT WORK IN THE SITUATION. PEACE AND JOY INTERS IN TO REPLACE DESPAIR. THE NEED MAY STILL EXIST, BUT NOW WE SEE A SOLUTION BEING CARRIED OUT. BILL AND SONIA HAVE NEEDS. THEY NEED OUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT. THIS IS HOW WE MINISTER TO EACH OTHER. MY PRAYER IS THAT NEW FAITH WILL GROW IN EACH OF US AS THAT MINISTRY TAKES PLACE. LOVE BRAD

Nov 12, 2004 at 11:07:30 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Jacque has talked to Henry Spencer's 90 year old mother in Chico, CA. She wouldn't give Jacque his phone number, but said he lived Gordonsville, VA.::I can't come up with a phone number there. Can any of you can get his phone number? Maybe his mother knows you or you have another source. We need help!!! Dave

Nov 12, 2004 at 15:56:17 Ellie (Fla.)
Brother Brad, I was just speaking to someone yesterday and she tells me she's been on a mission with her church to Kentucky whereby they are training people to go to Russia next May to take Celebrate Recovery there. It might be interesting for you to look into this as well. They have a website.

Nov 13, 2004 at 19:10:16 Jacque (SLO)
After another quick trip to Fresno I arrived home this afternoon to find out that today at 2:40 pm pacific time Henry Spencer picked up both the messages I left for him on Classmates! I gave him our site address so maybe he will read this and write something. Brad I have to find the phone # and I will get it to you. I thing Mrs Spencer lives with several people her own age, so be prepared to wait if one of the others ::answers the phone. The background conversations were priceless. Now I am going to take a nap. That road is the dullest road in all of California.

ANOTHER NOTE ON THE PISMO REUNION. THE TRIP TO MORRO BAY AND THE LUNCH AT THE COFFEE POT RESTAURANT AND THE STORY FROM GORDON ABOUT HIS LIFE WAS A REAL TREAT. SOMETIMES WE DON'T APPRECIATE THE GREAT COUNTRY WE LIVE IN. GOD BLESS THE USA AND ALL MY CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. LOVE BRAD

I think I'm finished making all the revisions to the site pages from the Pismo blast. 22 pages have been revised. They are: EVENTS: 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1997, 2001, 2004 pg 1 & 2 and 2006. MEMBERS: Members and Missing. PHOTOS: 6th Grade #1, #2 & #5, Senior Trip, Senior Photo, and Snap Shots pages 1, 2, 3 & 6. I want to thank the following for their photos: Sid & Betty, Barb G, Jim & Arlene, Mack & Shirley, Melvin & Elaine and Konrad & Julie. Barb sent me her original Senior Class Patch to make copies of. One very nice part about Pismo was having two old Classmates, we haven't seen in years, walk into the hospitality room because of this site. Thank You, Frank and Transito and everyone there.

Nov 18, 2004 at 07:00:42 Sonia (Columbia, MO.)
Update on Bill. We came home last Friday and it is sure slow going but I can see s-o-m-e progress. Bill has no appetite and is still very weak as he has lost so much of his muscle strength, He has lost about 40 pounds. We were at the Dr. yesterday and the bottom of his lungs is still collapsed which causes him to have a hard time breathing at times, but should improve some with time. The hot flashes are getting better, not as often or as bad so that helps as they really zapped what energy he had and he was worn out then for several hours. The Dr's said things were going fine, but it was going to take a long time. They gave him some medication for his appetite. I hope that will help. His heart is doing fine with the meds that they put him on. Our nights have improved some and that really helps! Hopefully before to much longer he will feel like e-mailing everyone.::Thanks so much::Sonia

Good morning. Hope all is well. Glad to hear from Sonia and Bill is home now and doing better. We think about you and hope and pray things will continue to improve.::I took some time this morning to go through our website and it is unbelieveable how David has put it together and how much information we have at our fingertips. David you have done a great job and we think you so much. ::It is so great to keep adding classmates to our list. They will be very surprised at our 50th. I keep wanting to tell everyone about our 48th class reunion and no one wants to hear. They can't believe we are still having them and anyone show up. They look at you like, you must be kidding.::We are looking forward to 2006. ::::Take care::Betty G

Hi Good Friends, Let me repeat the thankyous to David for the great job he does for all of us with the site. It is the best ever. Bill and Sonia I think of you and try to send good thoughts for Bills' complete recovery soon. Anyone who swam in the places we did as kids should have been gone long ago but we survivors must have some carryover from the canals that is keeping us going. Bill Streshly and I are making big plans to attend the Rose Bowl with out 59 team but you knnow what can happen to big plans!! The BCS may have some other plans we don't know about. Happy Holidays to all of you.

Nov 21, 2004 at 09:57:28 JimG (Tulare)
Good to hear from you Sonia . . . Keep Bill on the road to complete recovery. I believe we will be seeing both of you at the 2006 reunion! Wayne, maybe we should have a mini reunion at the Rose Bowl with the class . . . You and Bill can be co-chairman on getting the tickets, HAH! Well maybe we had better settle for the Corcoran game in 2006!::::JimG

I wanted to check in and wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. It's wonderful to hear the good news from Sonia and Bill. That's something to be thankful for. I'm still smiling every time I think of the great time we had in Pismo, and I'm anticipating the 50th. All my kids and grandkids will be here Thursday. It'll be the first time we've all been together in over a year, so I'm really looking forward to it. ::Joan

DEAR CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL. THANK YOU JOAN AND PATTY. YES, THE WARM LOVE AND FELLOWSHIP OF FRIENDS IS THE VITAL PART OF OUR CLASS. WE HAVE SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR. THE SHORT LIST WOULD BE FAR TOO LONG FOR HERE. I'M THANKFUL FOR THE CLASSMATES WE'VE FOUND IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. CHARLENE, FRANK, TRANSITO AND HENRY. I HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO HENRY YET, BUT IF HE WILL SEND HIS PHONE NUMBER, I WILL CALL. I'M THANKFUL FOR BILL'S RECOVERY. GOD IS SO GOOD TO US (AND THE RESPONSE IS: "ALL THE TIME"). I LIFT MY HANDS AND PRAY FOR ALL OF YOU THAT THIS WILL BE THE BEST THANKSGIVING YOU HAVE EVER HAD AND THAT ALL OF YOUR NEEDS WILL BE MET. LOVE BRAD

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. We having an interesting evening here in Indiana/Ohio. The temps are in the high 60's now, with tornado and thunderstorm warnings all over the wea map.::By tomorrow, which means after midnight tonight, we are expecting 30's and snow. We have sirens going off all around. The biggest storm is over I-70 at the Indiana/Ohio border. One particular storm is about to hit us here in Brookville shortly - thanks TV for showing this to us. An interesting time for all of us. I hope your weather is much better. Our sons will be flying in tomorrow, and the weather should be much better - colder but less severe.

Nov 26, 2004 at 00:49:32 Jacqueline (San Luis Obispo)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Charlene the Thanksgiving Parrot story is the best! Thanks...I can even use that at Christmas.::I've just put the last batch of dishes in the dishwasher and I'm on my way to bed. All of my Children and their spouses plus my granddaughters (3) were here for Thanksgiving along with my Daughter in Law Shawna's parents from the bay area. It was a real Thomson fest including the arguement that's been going on about Ford vs Chevy ( My father in law was a real Ford man)for the past 40 years. They still argue the merits of both engines. I guess you never take the speed gene out of the boy (even if he's an old Fa--!) We had a good wine tasting tonight trying to decide the best of 4 different cabs and 4 chardonnay's There were 10 tasting so it was just a taste. It helped Shawna's parents decide what wine to serve for there theater opening party. They have built a multiplex theater up at Tahoe that's due to open in December. I still like my Eberle Zin the best! Hoping you all had a wonderful thanksgiving. I am very Thankful for all of my Friends....That includes everyone of you!!

Nov 27, 2004 at 22:33:27 Joan (Bakersfield)
Hi everyone. Well Thanksgiving 2004 is history now and everyone has gone home. I can't believe how quiet my house is. My son-in-law helped me put up my yard decorations yesterday and my tree today. I bought an artificial tree this year for the first time because I can handle it by myself. I didn't get the pre-lighted one because I have lots of lights already. Well, I found out that most tree lights are not safe for an artificial tree, so I had to go out and buy more lights. Maybe I should sell my bzillion left over lights on E-Bay. Thanks Jacque. I've been trying to remember the name of that wine (Eberle Zin) since the Halloween party. It was good. I remember now, it made me think of the Everly Brothers.---I guess it's time to go eat some more left over turkey. Hope you all had a good one.

Nov 29, 2004 at 13:00:01 Betty G (Visalia)
Hello from Visalia, beautiful bright sunshiny cold day here. We had a great thanksgiving at out daughter's in Kingsburg. Lots of family, friends and food. Its Monday but seems like we should be doing hoildays. I guess it will be that way until after Christmas. As I drive from my house I look over a field and I watch these stacks of wood become a big beautiful house. This is Brad and Beverly new home. It should be complete soon. I know how excited they must be. We are all very blessed and we must remember that every day.::Sounds like everyone survived another Thanksgiving, all the great food and the leftovers are even better.::Wish you all peace and health in preparing for Christmas.::::See you soon

Nov 29, 2004 at 18:58:00 David
During the time we have been looking for our old classmates, many have been found by us through the Classmates site. Rosemary had a visit my site symbol next to her name. By clicking on it you went to the home page of corcoran1956.com. Classmates finally figured this out and deleted all the links to other sites. I hope none of you renew your gold card. Anyway, it was fun. We had at least 100 visitors a month that came through Classmates. We had a very quiet Thanksgiving. Just the two of us. The kids! all had other plans. RO said it was most relaxing Thanksgiving in a long time. Looking forward to Christmas, but I would like a little more family there.

The turkey joke is great. The turkey was great. The turkey is gone for a year! David , thanks for the Cal Banner on the home page. How did you find it.? Bill and I are going to the game if we make it through the BCS this SAt.We took Bill and Robyn to dinner on Monday as he won his bet with me . I told him in April that if he lost 40 lbs. by Dec 1 he could pick the best steak house in town and he did it!! He looks like he could play in the game. I now need to turn my bets to my own body weight. Well after the holidays I will have good intentions. Bill Rose I hope you are getting better each day. Pat and I are off to Sedona, Az tomorrow for a week of hiking and picture taking if the weather holds out for us. Love to all of my great friends. WC

Dec 4, 2004 at 08:50:40 BRAD (VISALIA)
HELLO CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. I HOPE EVERYONE IS WELL AND/OR GETTING BETTER (BILL). A LITTLE TRIVIA. I MADE A BATCH OF FUDGE YESTERDAY AND WHILE I WAS ENJOYING A SAMPLE, I REALIZED HOW WE MISSED THE BOAT IN PISMO. A FEW MONTHS BACK, ELLIE WAS TELLING US ABOUT HER WORLD CLASS BROWNIES. I WAS GOING TO TRY TO GET HER TO BRING SOME SAMPLES TO PISMO SO WE COULD VERIFY HER CLAIMS. I FORGOT (COULD NOT BE OLD AGE) UNTIL YESTERDAY. I GUESS WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL '06. MAYBE SOMEONE WILL REMEMBER. ANYWAY, WE ALL HAVE SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR. WITH ALL GOD'S BLESSINGS, LOVE BRAD

Dec 6, 2004 at 08:32:37 Ellie (Fla.)
Oh! The brownies, I forgot all about it. Very sorry, it must be my age. Next time, Brad, you'll have to remind me.::I've been busy playing with my new toy. Peder got me one of those terra cotta fire pots and now I can have beautiful romantic fires near the pool. Not bad for the old widow lady.::8o degrees and I'm stoking up the fire. Actually, it does cool off a bit at nite and it makes for nice atmosphere.::We're heavy into Christmas as you all may be. Traffic is fierce, all the birds are here and it's clicking once again.::::I've decked the halls and tomorrow I do the tree and start baking. Ho-Ho! I love the Christmas season. Could use a bit of snow. Maybe the ice crusher would work.::::Best Wishes to all, enjoy! Love to all.

Dec 7, 2004 at 10:21:44 Dave (LoUiSiAna)
Ellie, let me see if I understand what you are doing in Florida. You have a screened pool to keep out the birds, insects and occasional alligators. That also has a fireplace. You are there sitting in front of the fire eating brownies in 80° temperature making snow with your ice crusher! Is that true? Don't you just love being in Florida!

Dec 7, 2004 at 13:53:05 ellie (Fla.)
You got it kid, I love Florida then again I love anywhere there's fun.

Dec 8, 2004 at 09:02:28 JimG (Tulare)
Hi everyone,::::I guess everyone had great visits at Pismo and now it is time for the holidays. Hopefully it will the season to be jolly. Happy Holidays you all . . . I guess this Louisiana website is starting to get a drawl to it! Wayne & Bill . . . I guess it was Cal's turn to get the raw deal this year. Who ever heard of Texas playing in the Rose Bowl. Maybe next year beings Cal signed Tedford up for many years. Dave, I'm not sure what's next in Florida! ::::JimG::::::::

Dec 9, 2004 at 14:56:10 Dave (Baton Rouge)
I've added Henry Spencer to our member and address list.

Dec 9, 2004 at 16:59:23 wcrow (palm desert)
Well, what can I say. the East coast computer did it to a West coast team again. Now we are headed to the Holiday Bowl and it is all sold out. Wow! does this save me a bunch of money. Sedona was beautiful, tops of peaks were covered with snow over the red rocks. It was cold for hiking but we had a good 4 days .Happy Holidays to you all.WC

Dec 9, 2004 at 18:27:33 Dave (BR, LA.)
Wayne says this is a picture of him at Sedona. I've known Wayne for a long time and never though he was crazy. There is a larger image on the Family page.

Dec 10, 2004 at 01:45:19 Jacque (SLO)
David I took a look at the "bigger picture" he's standing there so casually. I also clicked on his Raider picture, We all need to look at the picture at the bottom of Wayne's Bio!::He had so much hair then, the hat is too small!! Wayne you were a hansome devil moustache and all, but your hair wasn't blond then. I sort of like your looks now best of all! Ellie, the fire pit sounds nice. What I wouldn't give for a warm Florida day! Swimming early in the am around here is sometimes not too pleasant! Billy C. Where are you? Is everyone remembering to think of Bill Rose at noon each day? Keeping all of you in my thoughts daily.

Dec 10, 2004 at 10:28:48 BillyC (In/Oh)
Hi Jacque, I'm still here, not much to say worth saying, as I say that, I just remembered - I'm pretty slow - it's my 37th anniversary today, I bet the DL won't remember. She's got Lot's of things on her mind. This year I'll be spending my birthday in London, UK, and Christmas day in Athens, Greece (We have a London and Athens in Ohio, too). We were trying for Italy first, but they cancelled both those trips, now we're going from London to Rome via Paris, Lucerne, and Florence the first week, then on to Athens for a week in Greece with our sons meeting us in Athens for Christmas day and a slow, lazy tour of Greece, not like our whilwind tour in 1975 which the boys don't remember much, same as the DL - all she remembers is the pink and blue shawl she bought the first trip there. She forgot about the green flokati we bought - That's a wooly run. Oh well, I guess we'll all remember more of this trip. I think the BCS is a fantasy football trip anyway. So I will miss you guys until I get back on the 2nd of January. Bye for Now and have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Years.

Dec 10, 2004 at 10:33:42 Billy C (In/Oh)
A flokati is a "Wooly Rug". Sometimes my fingers play tricks on me.

Dec 11, 2004 at 02:25:24 Jacque (SLO)
Have a good trip Billy and enjoy the holidays in other lands! I had a surprise phone call from Derek Rea today. He was released from the hospital yesterday. He has been in the hospital since May 04! Derek sounded good and infact sounded stonger than the last time I talked to him. David, the only reason he called me is that your line was busy! He said it would take him a while to get his computer up and running and his service back. He said he is able to take care of himself pretty well. AND he was disappointed that he couldn't make it to pismo. Send him a card by snail mail if you get a chance. I am calling Henry Spencer tomorrow for sure! everyday this week I have thought about calling him and it's after 6pm! I'm sure he would enjoy my call if I woke him up! I have been deep into budgets in my "spare time" for the past 2 weeks. I swear I am going to go back to work so that I can have more free time! One thing I've learned is how to use my daughter's computer to get my email. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks.

Sorry I was gone so long, but 6 months in the hospital kept me from doing all I wanted to. Have my system up, but only on landline. Don't know when my broadband will be up. Missed seeing everyone at Pismo.

Hello everyone, I can't believe that another year has gone::by. As I read the comments from so many of the classmates::I have come to the conculsion that 1956 was a good year for::people. Hope everyone has a blessed holiday. I also echo::the sentiment that we are so blessed. My brother, Joe and his family and my family always spend all the holidays to-::gether. Our children and grandchildren are so much fun.:: Happy Holidays!!

Well, o.k. so I'm a woos. Had to turn the heat on finally. It was 58 degrees in the house. Tried to be brave. Don't forget, I'm a Canuck. But must be the age. The pool is 72 but it can be stoked up. And now that I have that firepot thing, I can still sit outside around the fire and be a Canadian, what with the parka, mukluks and tooque.::The tree is all decorated. Usually the kids always accuse me of dumping the box of decorations over the tree so this year I made a point to do a good job. How hard is it with a 4 ft. tree. I'm baking and wrapping and cleaning and writing checks, that part I really dislike but nevertheless this is tradition.

Hi We received a Christmas card from Sonia post marked 12/13. On that date Bill was back in the hospital in about the same condition as 10/1. I think everyone needs to send our old buddy a "get well and go home and stay there" card. I know we will. Love you all and Merry Christmas. David and Rosemary

DEAR CLASSMATES AND FRIENDS. WE WISH YOU THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER.WHEN I THINK OF THE REASON FOR THE SEASON, I AM AMAZED AT THE PLAN THAT THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE GAVE TO US. IN DAYS OF OLD, THERE HAD TO BE A SACRIFICE OF A LAMB (OR ANIMAL)FOR SINS TO BE FORGIVEN. GOD SENT HIS SON TO BE THAT SACRIFICE. IT WAS ALL FULFILLED ON THE CROSS. NO LONGER DO WE HAVE TO SACRIFICE ANIMALS, WE ONLY NEED TO LOOK TO HIS PLAN FOR FORGIVENESS. IT IS AWESOME. IT SEEMS INCREDABLE, BUT I KNOW IT IS TRUE. MY HEART IS FILLED WITH THANKSGIVING TO OUR GOD. I NOW KNOW WHY THE WISE MEN GAVE GIFTS. MY PRAYER FOR YOU IS THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE THE GIFTS YOU NEED: LOVE, JOY, HEALING AND PEACE. YOUR HUMBLE SERVANT, BRAD

Hello to all of the old classmates of CUHS class of 56. Though my family moved away to Chico, Calif in 51, my old memory RNA is still very functional. I often have little spits and starts of things that occurred while I was a lower (grades k-8) class student there. It was fun to see the old gang from the 2004 reunion (I was actually able to pick out a few that I could recognize). It would be a wonderful thing to be able to hear from any of you that would care to e-mail across the country. Hoping to hear from you soon.

IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY. THE GREATEST EVENT THAT HAS HAPPENED TO MANKIND (GOD'S PLAN FOR REDEMTION) BEGAN +/-2000 YEARS AGO. SO IMPORTANT THAT OUR CALENDER WAS SET AT ZERO. I AM OVERWHELMED WHEN I TRY TO COMPREHEND THE MAGNITUDE OF IT ALL.IT HAPPENED IN BETHLEHEM OF JUDEA. IN A FEW MINUTES, AS WE DO EVERY YEAR, I WILL READ THE STORY THAT IS WRITEN IN LUKE CHAPTER 2,TO MY FAMILY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT ALL, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME SINCE MY MARRIAGE TO BEVERLY WAS THE DAY I ACCEPTED GOD'S PLAN FOR REDEMTION JAN. 12 1964 AND JESUS WAS BORN INTO MY HEART. MY LIFE WAS TURNED 180 DEGREES. I AM BLESSED EVERY DAY. THAT IS THE REASON CHRISTMAS IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME. I PRAY THAT THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS WILL BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMLIES AS WE CELEBRATE TOGETHER ON THIS CHRISTMAS DAY. LOVE BRAD
