Hi People I promise maybe never to change the address of this site again. I think. Dave

David you deserve several gold stars....what a great idea a "Domain name" for the class. Thanks for the tips on how to improve my scanner pictures I'm having fun and will select the best to send. Billy Connally, I have never resided outside the state of California...so it must be a "twin". Did she have blond hair? Mine started turning gray when I was in my early thirties and is almost white....guess I could say it's silvery blond! I too remember the movies @14cents and also the 20 chapter serial westerns that were shown every Saturdays between the feature films (two features are a thing of the past also). My children think I'm making it up when I tell them that we saw more national news at the movies on the "news reels" than we read in the local papers. Hope we can all get together in 2003! jacque

Hi Guys. This is a lot easier site to get to, and remember. Thanks a lot. I kept misplacing my printout with the URL of the other site - lots of senior moments. Jacque, the last thing I remember about you was a trip to Stratford for a basketball game when we were in the eighth grade. I was surprized to see your picture in the 55 Harvester. I keep remembering all sorts of strange things from way back when.

Corcoran Classmates,::::I have been reading a lot of the comments in the chat room and I have come to the decision that if David keeps this up he will be a shoein to be elected class president . . . of course I'm not quite sure what year that would be.::::Dave/Rosemary keep up the good work and if I could remember that town on the Mississippi . . . was it Tunica . . . Maybe we will be there for that reunion.::::Jim/Arlene::::P.S. - Keep the mail/photos going!::

Rosemary and the troop,::::After I sent the mail to the chat room I opened up the photo album and got a great big kick out of the troops photo. The only person missing in the photo would have been Larry Storch! I believe this could have been where the TV sitcom originated . . . GREAT PHOTO!::::Jim G::::::

Got an email from Bradley this morning giving me Mary Ellen White's (Goins) phone number and address. I then spent a delightful hour on the phone with Mary Ellen. Thanks Brad. Love you Mary Ellen. Dewy Rose, GA. WOW! Dave

Hi Everyone, This new website is really great. I don't have much trouble remembering it like the old one. I have been experiencing a lot of old memories resurfacing since I began this experience. When I left Corcoran in November 1956 for the Air Force, I went through some really strange things at Lackland AFB. Probable the strangest was my visit to the dental clinic. All of the new enlistees are sent through all sorts of processing there. At the dental clinic, I caused a real stir there. I was pulled out of the line after my checkup sent in to a little room where a dentist came in and started asking me all sorts of questions about my dental history. I was kind of shocke since I had never been to a dentist in my life before that day. The dentist told me I was the first person through their clinic in over six months or so who had no cavities in their teeth at all. It really made all of the other guys in my flight mad at me because they had to wait outside for the people to finish with me. I had to sit there for about 30 minutes chewing on rubber bands and spitting in to test tubes. I was wondering if any of you other people had the same kind of experience as they thought it was the water and the chemicals in it. ::I remember the 14 cent movies, too. My father sometimes worked at the theater as the projectionist, and when he was there, I got in for free. And when my sister worked there as a ticket taker, I got in free almost anytime I wanted to.  Of course, I was so small growing up then, that I could get in for the kids price several years after I was past the age when the ticket price went up.  :OH well, enough for now.

The email from Bradley and call to Mary Ellen paid some dividends by turning up name and address for Barbara Hagler ( von Prittwitz ) and Clara Jo Hargrove's ( Silex ) email address. One email equals three known members. If you have any information on any of the missing members please email us. A few months back Jacque and myself had a discussions about Sue Ginsburg. We were trying to remember her mothers name. During a conversation with Rosemary's sister, Barbara. She said Sue's mothers name was Charlotte and she had a older sister, Marilyn, who taught at the new Junior High school. WE took a couple of small steps toward locating Sue. Also, Melvin Jones sent me two elementary class pictures, 4th and 6th grade, I only knew about 6 kids in both classes. Take a look at them and if you know someone or if we got a wrong name, let us know. Thanks, Dave Billy! are you saying that awful arsenic laced water that smelled like rotten eggs and was full of thousands of years old swamp gas might be good for your teeth?

Wayne, Stan, and Bill are spending the weekend in San Diego retelling old lies and updating old history to make it more politically correct. Last night we solved the mid-east crisis over a bottle of Wild Turkey and sent the results to G W Bush. We are waiting for a response (or a visit from the FBI). We were happy to see the great website designed by David. It is fun to hear from old buddies like Bob Lantz, Bill Rose (Hi, Bill!), Bill Connolly, and great pictures from Jackie, and the rest. We are looking to the next reunion. We suggest guest speakers on Medicare, Viagra, and/or organ transplants. Bye for now.

Hey People, I'm going to try a new toy. A real chat room. Instant chat! There are instructions on how to use the thing on the first page. They listed the instructions under some funny name "Tutorial". Dave

Sitting here in Palm Desert with the wind blowing sand in my face wondering what in the hell I am doing living here. I had this in Corcoran and didn't like then. Played golf today and had 10 good shots out of 95. This old jock can't see why he can't hit the ball like all of the others. I am leaving here about June 1o to go up to Donner Lake for the summer where it is livable and will come back here in Sept. I hope all my classmates are doing well. WC;

The Corcoran High School Class of 1956 will hold its first Internet Reunion Sunday May 26th at 6:00 PM Pacific Time in the New Instant Chat Room at the web site http://www.corcoran1956.com Reservations and dress are not required. BYOB and a dictionary, the stupid thing doesn't have a spell check. When you get to the chat room entrance click on the American/English flag then type in a username and a password then click "chat" and you are there. We can talk about everyone that is not there. Dave

From the class reunion experiment last night in the chat room, I have reached the following conclusions: 1) Alexander Bell came out with the telephone before the chat room because it was more efficient. 2) The chat room is to be used by a maximum of two humans that can type with ten fingers. 3) The chat room can take things you would normally whisper and broadcast them around the world. Hi, Today I added nine pages of pictures of the graduating class to the site. Click on SENIORS in Photo Album. Last week we found a "missing" member. Betty Sue Blankenship ( Wolf ) She would like to hear from her classmates. I thank Loren for showing her were we were. I guess I should have said she found us. I would like to take another shot at the a reunion in the chart room in June. Give me some input on a good time and date. I didn't do to good with the date and time last weekend. Hey Wayne, I found a "where is he now" interview you did with the Raiders last year and added it to the site. Click on your name under the football card. Also, I've been puzzled why you would want to live in the desert in the summer and the mountains in the winter. I guess you don't know until you try. I lived in the high desert once ( Palmdale ) and they had lights on the golf coarse so they could play at night when the temperature fell below 100. enough rambling... Dave

Hi,::The real chat room is down for the next few days. Three of us showed up at the same time twice Monday. I was with Jacque, Jim and then with Jacque and Billy C. We had some discussion about going to camp at Lake Sequoia (scout camp, Y camp), that really brought back some memories. There couldn't be a better place anywhere in the world to go to camp. I need to figure out how to send my grand kids there. We also discussed the next reunion. I said, I didn't know anything about the next reunion, but I would call Marie and talk to her. Will I called Marie and, if you remember her, I got talked to. A reunion will be held in 2003 in Reno, NV. She will call Elvira and work out the details. I need some class reunion pictures. Thinking back about the reunions Rosemary and myself have attended, The discussions slowly changed. Starting with "what great kids we have" to "what great grandkids, aches, pains and operations we have". I hate to think about the discussions at the next reunion.

WHEN WE WERE AT THE LAST REUNION IN BAKERSFIELD, TALKING ABOUT WHO WAS GOING TO HEAD UP THE NEXT REUNION, THE THOUGHT CAME TO ME TO VOLUNTEER TO ORGANIZE THE 100 YEAR REUNION. IT WILL BE IN THE YEAR 2056. I THINK IT IS A GREAT IDEA TO PLAN IT NOW. ANY FEED BACK? BRAD

Jun 22, 2002 at 18:59:53 Dave
That sounds like a good ideal Brad. You do the 2056 and I'll do the next one. I got pictures from Barb G. today and got them on. We got a new 4th grade picture. A better Ms. Huff's 6th grade class picture. Lots of names. All the pictures on snapshots IV. Barb took her pictures to Kinko's had them scanned and put on a floppy disk. She then mailed them to me. 1245 Melanie St. Baton Rouge, LA. 70815. We have been trying to meet in the chat room at 7:00 PM Pacific every night. If over four people show up, it get hard. Also, we have been leaving notes to each other in the chat room. I've added links to the names of three of our better known classmates on the members page. In the control room for this site, There is a log of visitors it gives the time they are there and where they visited. I'm amazed by the number of visitors who hang around the outside of the chat room waiting to see if someone will show up. What you need to do is go in and wait in the inside. Some people have been known just to go inside and write to themselves. This is OK, as long as you don't answer. Inside you can only see on page of activity. There is 96 hours of everything someone may have said about you. To look at the whole 96 hr record type "/last 600" then enter. Keep in touch Dave

Jul 13, 2002 at 18:26:07 David Gilbert
I hate to be the only one to use this thing. In the chatroom, we have some classmates that are getting very good at holding three conversations with three different people at the same time. Too bad we can't spell or can write what we mean to say. Big news is we have Sue Ginsburg in board thanks to Billy C, Jacque and a train buddy of mine in Vegas. I found a schedule and instruction sheet for Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y students attending the Y-day in Hollywood. Imagine playing a football game climbing on a school bus and riding all night to LA. Today they would need four crowbars to pry me out of the seat. Then, all I knew was Rosemary Oldham was in the seat next to me. Sounds like a love story.

Jul 13, 2002 at 23:18:12 BillyC
Hi Guys, I'm glad we finally got hold of Sue G. I wish there was something we could do about our chatroom. I can't get into it anymore. I don't know if it's my computers or what. I tried earlier today to logon at my home in Cincinnati and couldn't do it. I even registered under one of my alias' and still couldn't get in. It just kept taking back to the logon page even though it said I was in the chatroom. Whassup?

Jul 16, 2002 at 09:08:38 BillyC
This is getting really weird. I logged in to the chatroom a couple of days ago and got in. I thought my problems were over. But yesterday I tried and couldn't get in again.::Today the same thing. I don't know what to do but try some more. I even tried to get in to change my profile, but it won't let me in for that either.

Hi, How many of you remember the radio station in Delano? I think it was KCHJ, 1010 on your dial. They played "The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven". The announcer was Gabriel Herman. There were shows like Glen Miller Supper Club, Flight Line, BC-13... I heard a few years back that Gabriel had died in the fifties and his wife had been playing the tapes over and over and over since. We have been away from the Valley since 1972 and every time we return we tune in. However, I've been informed that the station has sold and no longer plays "The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven". This is a loss to mankind. Dave

Hi everyone,::::Glad to see the Guest Room being used again. Hello Sue long time no see. Next reunion hope to see ya there. Also I do believe that we did a few street dances to the Delano station. Dave do you suppose you know why Billy C can't talk. (Chat) Send him to the ? like you did me. ::::Also see Jacque is working hard to keep finding classmates with all of you guys. Jacque we are going to be in Pismo July 20 through the 28th. I will take this goofy laptop and stay in touch. ::::See ya everyone!::::JimG::::

Hey there classmates. I am getting the hang of this laptop that we use when we are not at home. I am in Donner Lake Ca now until Sept 15 and then back to Palm Desert. I would be glad to go to some of the Reno Hotels and make a first contact for 2003 if Marie would like me to . This next reunion is for Marie and Elvira to plan but I can help since I am near to Reno. I can't remember the radio station in Delano in but I remember some other life experiences where Delano played a part. I worked all summer and had little to show for it. Keep in touch WAyne Crow

Jim one of these days I hope to be home when you are over here. If I get back I'll get in touch. my son-in-law's father died in his sleep on Friday. They are having a huge Greek Orthodox funeral service for him and I've offered to help Julie prepare the food for the relatives. I thought Catholic wakes and service were long! The services are Wednesday and Thursday, I hope to stop and see my mother for a few hours...if she will let me get away I would like to come home Friday, so If I can escape...I'll get in touch. I keep forgetting to use this instead of the chat room. ttys J. P.::

Hi Guys, I tried to get into the Prune Room again after deleting myself and reestablishing myself. The same thing happened to me that was happening to Loren. I could get logged in, but not into the Prune Room. I will delete myself again and wait until I come back from my trip to Taiwan/Japan. I will be going to Taiwan for a couple of days to see the in-laws, then off to Tokyo for the World Conference of Taiwanese people. I don't have to do anything there but go out shopping in Tokyo for two days, then off to the Northern Island of Hokkaido for a week or so. Then back to Tokyo for a couple of days of resting from standing in long lines at the lavatories behind really old Taiwanese guys who can't wait. I will bring back some digital photos for all of you to enjoy, or cringe over. See Yah.

Jul 28, 2002 at 16:50:13 David
I have had it with the chat room. The thing kicked out Loren and we couldn't get him back. Then I had some small problems. Brad had some problems that he overcame. Billy had some major problems. He over came them yesterday and was back in twice. Then it kicked him out again. Yesterday it kicked out Jim G. Then of all the nerve, while I was trying to get Jim back in. The stupid thing kicked me out and I couldn't get back in. Enough is enough the monster is gone. Deleted into never never land. It just messed with the wrong guy. Someday, and don't hold your breath, I might look at it again. Sorry Dave

Jul 29, 2002 at 09:47:22 BillyC
I'm not really sorry to see the Prune Room be flushed down the tubes. It was fun when it worked, not so much fun when it didn't. Maybe we could all get ICQ access and use that for our chats. I had pretty good luck with that chatting with my sisters and nieces several years ago. My sons use one of the other Instant Messages services all the time now talking between Boston and Norwalk. Just a suggestion. I was online to check flight status for my trip this morning and thought I would get on here and make some noise. Bye, see you all when I get back from Japan.

Jul 29, 2002 at 21:00:10 JimG
I agree with BillyC on the chat room. It was fine until you got kicked out of the room. Kind of like some of the classes we had. This is kind of nice where all the class can see what's going on. Also it did work well for a while.::The one thing that seemed unfair to the easterners was the 3 hour time difference. Talk to everyone latter.::::JimG::::::

David I like the arial view of Corcoran on page V. It's more fun than the map! I was sorry to see the chat room go. Of course I didn't get zapped either. It was fun when someone was there & I could remember to check in @7pm my time. It was a great way to get reaquainted and find out how the "kids" you went to school had matured and grown up...I am delighted with all the classmates I have become aquainted with again. Jim & Billy I'm especially going to miss chatting with you and reading your chats....Billy your walks along the road and the Dragon Lady episodes are going to be missed. Brad I'll miss your wise and heartfelt wishes to classmates AND David, what are you going to do now, I enjoyed your many different moods and also learned some very pratical things, like hiding in the closet for peace and quiet....I've been able to read uninterrupted and actually finish a few more books! I guess I'll have to just email more. Talk to you all soon, and thanks again!::

Hi everyone,::::Now that I have recovered from having the door slam in my face in the chat room and being locked out I have had a chance to think about a few of the things Jacque said. She is right, it was fun to chat with everyone (that could get in the room)!::::Talk to you guys later,::::JimG::::P.S. - See everyone in Reno::

Hey Classmates, What were you all bitchin about. Each of you were kicked out of many classrooms/chatrooms before the net was conceived. You were forwarned. I am meeting with Marie and Elvira in Reno next Tuesday to visit some hotels and set up the dates for 2003. I offered to help since I am so close to Reno. We are going book 40 rooms. Will this be enough? We really need to get everyone there for this event so we can plan for the big 50 in 2006. I go into this site using aol instead of juno. I might make a switch soon. take care Wayne

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A VERY SPECIAL FRIEND, ROSEMARY!!!! And you're still younger than me! I know that it's only 9:50 her and 11:50 where you are but tomorrow @ 6:30 am we are off to see our 7yr old granddaughter compete in the Jr. Rodeo at the fair in Paso Robles. It starts at 8am sharp and John walks slowly and the arena is about as far from the gate as possible. Plus the boats and 4 wheelers are between the gate and the arena! But I didn't want the day to go by without wishing you a very Happy Birthday and wishes for a great year! I'm looking forward to seeing you soon. Jacque

Glad to hear things are moving along on the Reno reunion and sure hope a date gets set soon so plans can get started. Since I haven't been to a reunion since the "81" it will be a real treat to see all those "old" friends again. My wife and I are trying to get out to Calif once a year to visit family, Florence on the coast, but in 2003 we will try to plan our visit around the Reno reunion. You would think since we are both retired..that would be easy...but it seems we have less time now then when we were working. Still living in Columbia Missouri.

It is now 10:54pm,EST, Here in Cincinnati. I have been up since 7:00 am Tokyo Time on Aug 12. My flight got back home at 6:55 pm,EST, Aug 12. My first trip to Tokyo in 1958 took 33 hours flying time and two stops between SF and Tokyo. This time we flew directly from Tokyo to Minneapolis in 12 hours, and 1.5 hours to Cincinnati. I am a little bushed but I wanted to check what was here and on my e-mail list. After 173 e-mail spam msgs, I am here catching up on this place. My oldest son has offered to come and take my place at the motel when we have our reunion, so, I guess you will have to put up with me.::::After my wife's conference and our trip around Hokkaido, we stopped in Tokyo to see her youngest brother's wife for a few days. In Tokyo, one of the world's largest cities, Yoshiko only lived three blocks from the hotel we were staying in. It took only five minutes to walk to her house. It took us 5.5 hours to get to the hotel from the airport in Friday's rush hour. What a relief. ::::The biggest change from 1958 to 2002? The traffic is much more polite now and the driver's are really good. Much better than 1958. I lost 5 pounds of sweat and other stuff the first taxi ride I have to downtown Tachikawa.::::I'll write more about the trip when I am conscious and human.::::

Hi everyone,::::We just went to Arlene's 45th reunion in some town just north of Corcoran. After the reunion I asked Arlene if she had fun. The first thing she said was it was OK but nothing like the Corcoran reunions. You guys did it, we got another Panther. By the way we had friends from Reno stay with us for her reunion and they said that the Peppermill was one of the nicest places to stay saying they had everything right there. See you in RENO!::::JimG and Arlene

Well, here I am, almost human. I thought that if I stayed awake all the way home on our flight back, I would not be affected by jet lag. Well, I stayed up for all that time and I am still mixed up, three days later. I am back in my home in Cincinnati, the Dragonlady is watching the motel in Indiana for the night and I came home to finish up a few little things.::My flight to Taiwan got into KaoHsiung at 9:00pm, a half hour early, couldn't believe that. The DL was supposed to meet me at the airport. Her flt two weeks earlier got there 30 minutes late, so she thought I would be late also. So she decide to be there 45 minutes late. I got to sit in the airport for an hour waiting for her. It was fun. I was hiding in plain sight to see if she could really find me. After she was waiting at the passenger exit for 5 minutes, I walked over to see her and tell here I was tired of waiting. The airport is only 20 minutes from her sister's home, so we got there really quick. It was fun carrying the suitcases up the three flts of stairs at her sister's home, but they were light.::::The next morning we were up early and went for a walk to see the village, now a town, after 39 years. The first time I was there, I was followed by crowds of little kids who had never seen a white guy walking down their streets. This time they didn't even blink. Oh Well, things change. We got some iced coffee and weird things for breakfast, don't asked me what they were. Big white dumplings with mystery meat and vegetables in them. What was once a small little school house where the DL went to Elementary school, was now a huge four storey building. Later. in the afternoon, we went to what she said was the local version of what we call a "Health Club" that she and her sister like to visit a lot. There was a huge swimming pool f

Today the State of Louisiana started passing out free spray cans of insect repellant and pepper mace to all visitors at the state line welcome centers. The visitors are given a short demonstration on how to ward off attacking mosquitoes and serial killers with the spray cans. Each visitor is welcomed and hope is expressed that there stay was pleasant and uneventful. The visitors are also given a little card that they could write the name and address of their next of kin and attach to their lapel.

Continued from other rantings:::::Big swimming pool for laps and another fairly large pool filled with hydro-massage apparati: streams of high pressure water from pipes over head, streams of water from various places under the surface for massaging feet, back, and various other parts of the body. I stayed here most of the time. They had a sauna room, a super heated pool, an ice cold water pool, and a cool room, tempature 8 degrees Centigrade, like a freezer. I spent little time in here, except when this exceptionally nice looking young lady was there. It was a different kind of experience for me.::::The next morning we left early for Tokyo. The plane left at 9:30am, got there about 2:00pm. We met others at the airport waiting for the bus ride to the hotel. We got on the bus at about 3:00pm, but didn't get to leave until 4:00 pm as one of the guys got off for a potty break and got lost. It took 4 1/2 hours to the hotel in friday afternoon traffic crunch. The next two days I spent wandering around the Ikebukuro section of Tokyo. It was very hot. We left Sunday afternoon for Hokkaido. We got there about 6:30 and it was cool - lower 80's and off and on rain and fog. Hokkaido is much cooler than Tokyo and not has busy. Sapporo was more like an normal city, the streets were straight, not curly and bendy like Tokyo. We had a pleasant time, except for the food. I don't appreciate Japanese food that much. Went back to Tokyo after 5 days sightseeing - mountains, lakes, and oceans. Tokyo was still hot. Stayed at a different hotel, still in the Ikebukuro section. We were to stay two days after our tour ended with the DL's sister in law. In the really huge city of Tokyo, she lived three blocks from our hotel. We walked over to her place that morning. At the last stop on our tour the d

Well, I guess I can't write all day here after all, still cut off in mid story. That's OK, didn't lose much this time. I'll finish up later.

Hey Billy C..What does the DL call you? Turn about's fair play.....I know you speak Chinese but I'll bet she has a nick name for you too! I bet it would be fun to know what it is!!!!!!! DAVID you keep this web-site most interesting! I'm off for a week and see all kinds of new things. jt

Hey Billy, I just checked the specifications on this thing and we are both wrong. It a size thing and not time. Will I was a little right. You can write all day if you write very very very slow. Dave

Hi Jacque, I'm not sure if she has a name for me with her friends or not, She only speaks Taiwanese with them, and I understand very little Taiwanese. It is sort of a private thing with her friends and family. But when she is speaking with her family, it sounds like an argument about to breakout at any time, so I'm sure it's not too good or that I really want to know what it is.::Hi Dave, after the second time I thouht it was a size thing, I know it is not a speed thing, as I am not that fast, but I have always had a size problem since 1962. It has run from the 160's to the 200's off an on. The greatest time I had was in Okinawa in 63 and 64. I had something that kept me from gaining weight. I went from 215 down to 160 eating everything in sight and still losing weight. Finally, after 8 months of the AF doctors farting around, they sent me to an Army hospital and the Army doctor couldn't figure it out either, but he gave me something to kill the bug, I got rid of whatever it was. I would like to find it again for a few months.::I'll keep the size of my writing shorter.

Back again. Hey, JT, A dragon in Chinese folklore is a good thing. It doesn't have any bad connotation to it, but she doesn't know I call her that either. It could have bad connotations to an American, so I can use it both ways. Just like her age. She is 13 months younger than I am, but her birthday is 01/16/40. To the Chinese, you are 1 year old when you are born, and attain your next age on the Lunar New Year. So under Chinese custom, she is now 64 year old now, while I am only 63. But she doesn't accept that custom, she thinks she is only 62. That is female prerogative I guess. She has it both ways, when the Chinese custom is beneficial to her, she uses that, or if western custom is beneficial to her, guess which way she goes. Anyway, we'll be together for 35 years come December, so I guess we get along, which ever way it goes. Anyway, she is getting impatient with our sons. The youngest just turned 30 today, and no prospects for marrying any way soon, though she is hopeful for the older one. He was working for Price-Waterhouse as an information technoligy consultant working in Massachusetts. He just accepted a new job with Raytheon there where he has been working for 2 years. So he has settled down a little, and has a better chance of finding someone, I guess.::Enough for this time, I'll finish with Japan tomorrow. BillyC.

As I was saying; at the last stop of the tour, the Temple to Kannon, Goddess of Mercy, in Asakusa, pronounced Ah-Sock-Suh, I was a miserably hot afternoon, but my wife saw some of her friends eating a popsicle sort of thing, so we had to have one also. They had Melon, Red Bean, Cream, and some other thing. She got a melon one, then asked about this other wierd looking thing. The lady told her is was red bean, so she had to have that, so I got the melon one, which was quite good. While we were standing there talking with her friends, a little Japanese girl, about 4 years old, came up to me and asked where I was from. It was kind of a surprise to hear English from her, So I squatted down and started talking with her a little bit. She was a little hesitant to start with, but with the urging of her mother, she did quite well. She asked me if I would like to have a picture taken with her. Of course, I couldn't refuse. After that picture, I took a picture of her, her older sister, and her mother. Then she said they would mail me a copy of the picture her father had taken, so I wrote my Cincinnati address in her mother's notebook for her. It was a very enjoyable experience after a rather long day in the heat. I will send a copy of the picture to Dave with the others I send. We spent a quiet day the next day with Yoshiko, after we left the hotel. We went to an aquarium in the shopping complex there next to the hotel, then went to a Toyota Showroom with all sorts of concept cars and new electric models and hybrid electric/gas models, plus luxury models they make for the Japanese market that never get sent overseas. I took a few pictures of the more interesting ones. I'll probably burn them on a cd and send them to Dave and let him pick some for the website. Leaving Japan was much quicker than gettin

OOps, leaving was much quicker that getting there. There was only normal traffic on the bus ride to the airport and we got there three hours before our flight. I stayed awake all the way back, hoping to avoid jet lag. It didn't work this time. I am just now getting over the worst of it. I will be sending some of the pictures to Dave for the Website when I figure out how to do it. Windows XP is supposed to do it for me. We'll see. BillyC.

Billy C WE all had a problem with the size thing and it was said all of our things were to small. I don't know who said that but I heard it often. I now know where to put you in the reunion program. We will install you in hospitality room on Sunday and you can start this story over and keep it going to Tuesday. Just kiddding you Billy. It is very interesting reading and makes me want to travel there. I think we will have a good crowd of classmates and friends in Reno. Many thanks again to Dave and Rosemary for this webb cite. It is the answer to our finding people. Pat and I are having dinner with Melvin Jones and wife in Reno 9/4. They will be there to celebrate an anniversary. Keep on talking. WC

HI ALL, JUST WANTED TO LET THOSE OF YOU WHO KNEW MY MOTHER, LENNIE, KNOW THAT SHE WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD 8-19-2002. BRAD

Aug 23, 2002 at 13:03:23Jacque P.
David and classmates, anytime you are in Morro Bay and stop by the "Coffee Pot" for breakfast or lunch, #1 Call me and I'll meet you there, #2 be sure and meet the owner Gordon Lu (aka Lu Chi Fa) a special friend of mine. Brad I'm sorry to hear about your mother, it doesn't matter if we are prepared or not it's still a huge loss. jt

Aug 24, 2002 at 14:23:54Dave (Baton Rouge)
Hi Jacque, If I understand this, anytime a classmate or classmates is/are at Lu Chi Fa's place in Morro Bay. Just call and you'll take care of the tab! This sounds like a party! I think you should require each class member to purchase a copy of the book "Double Luck" prior to getting a free breakfast/lunch at the Coffee Pot Restaurant. To purchase a book go to www.doubleluck.org or you can get it there. You will be happy you did. Rosemary read it, I read it and 10 year old granddaughter Lindsey Gilbert will soon read it. This will help her appreciate how lucky she is. Good true story. Yes! this is a commercial.

Aug 26, 2002 at 20:41:28Jacque P
David......Thanks for recommending "Double Luck" Gordon (Chi Fa) will be happy to know people are reading his book. He is still a remarkable person. If you or my classmates buy the book either at the Coffee Pot restaurant in Morro Bay or over his Double Luck .org and bring it to the restaurant I will buy your meal! He is putting all of his profits into a scolarship fund for children of similar circumstances in Morro Bay and the area. His co-writer because of her superior english abilities gets 75% of the royalities he gets 10% now but was only getting 5%....the agent gets the rest! He receives more of a cut when he sells them himself. This is becoming a commercial...!!! jt ps....I'm still calling that # I HOPE I GET A LIVE PERSON ONE OF THESE TIMES!

Hi everyone,::::I guess after reading some of the comments about the Coffee Pot in Morro Bay maybe the next reunion after Reno we can have our next reunion there. One thing about it is that Jacque will be there and so will the Gilberts because she said she would buy them breakfast. All kidding put aside it sounds like the book is real interesting. Will have to read it!::::JimG::

Hi Everyone and JimG, We have Ann Parraz Silva's address and phone number and are very close to Carolyn Sue Pierce in Fayetteville, AR. Jacque has come up with a classmate we had in the 1st thru 3d grade! Better yet her dad, who is 90 and active, was the photographer of our class pictures. They are looking for the negatives right now. Her name is Barbara Dailey and she has Dailey Studios in Delano. Maybe we can get every class picture and you can replace the one that you have lost. Please WRITE in this stupid thing. BillyC its time for your August SS magic. Keep in Touch... DG & RO

Aug 29, 2002 at 11:50:40BillyC
Hi Dave and All. My August SS magic expires as of tomorrow. But I guess maybe me Sep magic may work. I won't be able to get over there before next week, if then. The DL is back in school now and I have to stay here, most of the time anyway. I get to sneak off on less than busy days during the school year. Anyway, my contact is on vacation until next week. Wayne, put me in the hospitality suite, I'll probably drive off half the people with my tales of yore and beyond. I got a look at my pictures from Taiwan and Japan. Surprise! They are okay. I will be getting some off to Dave soon, either via e-mail or sending a photo-cd once I burn them. My oldest son said he would take over here so I can go to a class reunion. I'll have to get with him on the dates. If I can get him to stay a little longer, I'll take an extra week before or after to do a little visiting old places and relatives along the way. I am already checking out ticket prices on the web. It looks like I'll have to fly out of Indianapolis again. Oh well, $200.00 here or there, what's 60 miles. I can spend the extra on a bigger rental car. See yah. BillyC

Hey Brad, sorry about your Mom. She and my mom had a long history together. From the labor camps to the Nazarene church they had similar journeys through Corcoran life. I have the good news /bad news to tell. I went to the hospital last week with chest and arm pains. I spent the night and did ekg's and tread mills and the results were good. No heart problems. The pain remained and days later I got a severe rash on my arm. SHINGLES!!!! tALK ABOUT PAIN IT IS THE MOST EVER. Doc says it could last a long time. Well the class seems to be reuniting after many years so we will llhave a good time in REno. Good health to all of you.

I've enjoyed reading the comments of our classmates. Dave has done a commendable job setting up the website. I'm looking forward to the Reno reunion. It probably will be the best ever. If any of you ever get down to San Diego, contact me. I'll show you the town.::

Wayne & Bill::::I know why Wayne got the shingles. It was probably the 1-10 season that Cal had last year and a few years back. However, Wayne I know you will get over those damn shingle now because a Fresno State alum has been a savior to Strawberry Canyon. WOW! 70 POINTS! Can you believe that. This Tedford may bring back memories of Pappy. Go you Golden Bears. My uncle use to be a asst. prof at Cal many years ago and I know he would be in 7th Heaven now . . . Maybe he is!::::JimG::

Jacque,::::I had to laugh about your dove hunt . . . Let me tell you about a long story. Arlene and I got married on Sept. 1st, 1956 and she has been putting up with dove hunting all these years. We usually have about 12 hunters down on our anniversary from Tahoe, Sacramento, etc. plus our local friends. Last year we went hunting and got checked by the DL (game warden) and luckily it was 7:30 a.m. and we were legal but he signed off our license so we couldn't hunt dove anymore that day. So my friends looked at each other and decided we should go pig hunting . . . So off we went and of all things we shot 2 pigs and of course we had to skin and clean them. It was about 10:30 at night coming home from the foothills and my FRIENDS looked at each other again and said where are we going to put the hogs so ants won't get them . . . They then said we can hang them up in Jim's back yard from the trees . . . Well to top that off Arlene calls me at 10:40 and informs me that we got charged for a room at Carmel which I had reserved 6 months earlier but forgot to cancel . . . I am still alive and we are celebrating this Anniversary on the golf course and a nice dinner . . . and I know I am not going to order wild bore.::::JimG

Brad...ya gotta give a girl a little notice and not at the last minute. I called Gordon Lu before I left town to tell him you were going to be in, if you went to the Coffee Pot he will tell me. We got back this afternoon, 2 days @105 ug! 10 minutes in the am and about the same in the evening (I'm talking about dove hunting!!!) We got our limits and I know John is getting old because this is the first time I could talk him into breasting them, usually we have to pick the WHOLE bird! The cabin is in the boonies, no electricity, no TV, no Radio works, we have to hike to the top of the ridge to use the cell phone, but there is running water and flush toilets ( sometimes it pays to be married to a plumber!) I took some books, and sat at the edge of the area being sprinked with the rain bird sprinkler and survived! I also found him another person to go with next time....I loved the heat when I lived in the valley but 45 years in San Luis and it kills me. Now I have to go to Fresno, mom is back in the hospital, someone up there doesn't like me!

JACQUE, YOU ARE FORGIVEN.GORDON TOLD ME YOU CALLED.HE IS AN INTERESTING MAN. HE SAT AT THE TABLE WITH US AND WE TALKED. HE HAD SPOKEN IN VISALIA 3 WEEKS EARLIER. I BOUGHT A BOOK AND WHEN I WAS LEAVING, HE GAVE ME ANOTHER BOOK FOR ONE OF MY TEACHER DAUGHTERS. SOMEONE UP THERE DOES LOVE YOU. I AM SORRY ABOUT YOUR MOM, I WILL ADD HER TO MY PRAYER LIST. GLAD YOU FOUND JOHN A HUNTING PARTNER. LOVE BRAD

Curious bunch of writing going on here. Getting a lot of people involved. All of our kids and all of their kids were at our home this weekend. It was really great that they all came and maybe a little greater that they left. Kidding! I read Jacques note on dove hunting and the 2 days @ 105 ug has had my mind churning all day. I guess this ug only happens for ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes in the evening. I can't convert a ug into anything. Much less a hundred and five of them. Also, I lived and worked in the valley for 30 yrs and I don't recall anyone saying they loved the heat. Maybe she's been sitting too close to the rainbird. Fun aside we love you Jacque and are very concerned about Maybelle. I'm glad the dozen dove in my back yard don't have to worry about seasons. The squirrels, thats a different story. They are the big game here. We got a nice letter from the pretty little redhead girl ( Linda Baker King ), saying she going to try to make the reunion in Reno.

Sep 3, 2002 at 23:06:35Dave (Baton Rouge)
Jacque wants to get the member list to 90. We are setting at 79. So we need 21 more before Jacque will get off my back. I'm waiting for Calvin to contact me and Billy has Frances and Elinore in his sights. When we get to 90 I'll reward each and everyone of you with your choice of nothing plus a free personalized email from me. and....yes you can't count 79 members on the member list. Cheers!

DAVE, 21 WOULD GET US TO 100. THAT WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS FOR RECOMMENDING DOUBLE LUCK. I READ IT IN TWO NIGHTS. ON THE WEIGHT OF HIS LIFE, I THINK WE SHOULD MAKE HIM AN HONORARY CLASS MEMBER. WE COULD INVITE HIM TO THE CLASS REUNION. HE CERTAINLY GRADUATED FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS. THEIR COLORS ARE BLACK AND BLUE. ANYWAY, I AM IMPRESSED WITH THE MAN. HE WAS BORN IN '41. HE WOULD FIT RIGHT IN. ANY COMMENTS? LOVE BRAD

Hey Jacque, your dove tails, I mean tales, remind me of the dove hunting Zane Newsome and I did when we were much younger. Of course I was using a 500 shot Daisy Red Ryder BB gun, and he had a pellet gun. We didn't get many doves, but we sure spent a lot of time shooting a all kinds of birds. I did get one dove, but it was sitting in its nest in a eucalyptus tree. I just knocked it silly and it came out of its nest and tried to get us, but missed a hit the road, the only big bird I ever hit. We were at least 13 or 14 at the time. It's amazing what memories can come up from the tales of others. BillyC.

Sep 4, 2002 at 13:49:20Dave
Brad, I would like to get a hundred, but there are a lot of names on the missing list that I just flat don't know. They are like my oldest boy, 4 years of high school in 4 states. He has 2 close friends from high school one in MS and one in MD. I got in a habit of asking the Ironworker for more than I needed. I guess I can't shake it. I'll just say, "I know you we can't do it, but we need 90 name or Jacque's gonna pluck my feathers and make dove meat outta me." Gordon Lu's has my vote. That is one of the better books I read in a while. Rosemary agrees, but we are a very small minority in this class.

Sep 10, 2002 at 13:50:48 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Man, I hate to be the only one to write in this thing. I was in a English class that was held in an auditorium with 70 or more students and the Professor called out for a David Gilbert to please stand. I did and he ask if I was a Engineering major. I said I was. He then told me to stick with Engineering and never consider English as a major. Anyway, I added a Reno (yes / no) column to the member list after the names and marked yes on the members that have said they plan to attend if possible. Not will attend, plan to attend. Rosemary and myself plan to attend and truly hope to be there. With some double luck we will. So...if you would like to be there let me know and I'll award a yes to you and pin it after your name. If you don't have any intention of going to Reno, keep it to yourself....and I will not be the next one to write in this thing! Great Memories Dave

Sep 10, 2002 at 17:23:49 BRAD GILTON
HI DAVE, IT HAS BEEN AWFULLY QUIET ON THE COMMENTS FRONT. I WAS AN ENGINEERING MAJOR ALSO. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYONE SAY THEY COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WERE SAYING. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO RENO. I WAS GLAD TO SEE SOME NEW NAMES ON THE YES COLUMN. I HOPE THEY DO MAKE IT. I AM CONTINUING TO PLAN FOR REUNION 2056. I HOPE EVERYONE PLANS TO MAKE THAT ONE. LOVE BRAD

The last time I went on a trip to Japan, Phyllis shows up in the comments. Wow, where do I go next? I just got confirmation from our travel agent -- Off to Egypt at Christmas time during her Xmas break. The last time I went on one of her trips at that time, her mother died two months later, one of my friends from work died at age 52 of some weird viral disease unexpectedly, and then I went in the hospital for an angiogram and ended up with a triple bypass surgery. The time before that I was going in for a hernia repair, and a tornado almost blew the hospital away two hours before my surgery. They put it off for a week. Anyway, ever since we were stationed in Turkey, the DL has wanted to go to Egypt and she is paying for it, so I guess I will go with her. Who knows who new will show up on the chat room while I'm gone this time. My oldest son has just quit working at his job, and started a new one for Raytheon in Tewksbury, MA. this week. Hopefully he will still take my place here so I can still go to Reno. I too hope more of our classmates could enter comments here. Dave has done a great job here. I'm just tired of reading all of his stuff. Come on guys, we are waiting for new blood on this time. It doesn't hurt. (just kidding Dave) BillyC.

Sep 13, 2002 at 19:04:42 BillyC
Well, here it is Friday the 13th. I stayed close to home or the motel all day. No bad luck yet, but it's still early. I talked with Dave, my Dave, this afternoon. His first week is over after changing to Raytheon Corp. It is the same work as before, only more of it and it's his problem now - he is no longer with the consulting team, he's on the office team. He won't go to Egypt with us, he has to work this year's end. I asked him if he was still planning to come here the first week in May next year. He forgot that he had volunteered to take my place here. But I reminded him he had no choice. So he said, "sure, I will come back home." I told him the reunion was from 5/4 - 5/7/02 but I wanted some time before and after that to drive back and forth from LA and visit my sister and cousins along the way. So he will do it for me. That's a relief.--- I stayed off TV on Wednesday, the over- mediazation of our nation's tragedy, it was bad enough to have the read the newspaper. At least I could read what I wanted and not get overloaded on their one-upsmanship. Anyway, we now have confirmation on our Egypt trip. Now all I have to do is find my passport. Someone is hiding it from me, it's supposed to be in my camera bag. Oh well, I will find it soon or get a new one. Bye for now. BillyC.

Billy, I drove a car for two years in Tokyo and for two years in Cairo. If you thought the traffic was bad in Tokyo..just wait.. You haven't seen nothing. In Cairo my final score was one push cart, one donkey cart and one pedestrian. Found out the sit down dinner at the reunion is Monday night. Stay tuned, more to come. Jim, talking about nothing is my best subject. Cheers Dave

Hi everyone, am I the only female that every writes in this guest book more than once? Let's all contact one mew person and encourage more dialog. I love reading the comments but would love to be surprised by a new point of view. David, we think alike, I called Barbara this morning too! Billy lets get back on tracing Ellie. There has to be a way. If we knew she was a nurse for sure, we could check the Nursing registry in different states. I'll bet there is another classmate that has a new piece of information that we have overlooked on Ellie or another "lost" classmate. I just wished we could get them to write in and let us know. jacque

Hey Jacque, I'm sure glad you came back and added that correction. My mind was going 90 miles/hour trying to figure out what kind of female a MEW person was. I assumed it was some kind of new California slang. I was the high bidder on the 1909 Corcoran post card. I should get it in a couple of days.

Dave and classmates. i was made to promise that I would never take another chemistry class at Cal by the professsor. He gave me a D and I walked away and changed my major. we are off tomorroe to go back to Palm Desert by way of Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and SEquoia. i am still having great pains in my left arm with the shingles. pat hopes it ends soon as I am becoming hard live with. I think we should start our hotel reservations soon to let the hotel know how great this will be. Keep searching for lost classmates. Take care

OOH, Shingles are a mess. In 1979 my parents came to visit us from California by way of Idaho and Texas. They stayed a couple of days and my mom came down with shingles, around her waist and lower chest. She couldn't wear her underwear - besides being very painful, it was also embarrassing for her. They had a 2500 mile trip back in the front seat of my dad's pick-up. She never would come see us again. I guess she was afraid of getting shingles again. Hey Jacque, us guys are glad there is at least one of you other types on here also. I, personally, enjoy your comments in the guest book.

Hi Guys, anyone interested in meeting me at the Coffee Pot in Morro Bay for breakfast or Lunch the offer is still open for any time except the month of December. Gordon (Lu Chi Fa) works 7 days a week and takes vacation the whole month of December. Not many tourists in December in Morro Bay and the towns people are all busy with Christmas stuff. So come see us anytime but December. He has a great Chicken Salad Sandwich for lunch! Actually alll his food is good. It's become the meeting place for all the locals. Most important is to read the book about him.....Double Luck written by Becky White and Gordon Lu. He's a remarkable man. Hope to see all of you at the Coffee Pot, jacque

Hey Jacque, that sounds great. How about 5/02/03? I'll be on my way from Lancaster, CA, to Silicon Valley to visit cousins, on the way to Reno. Morro Bay is one of my favorite places as it is where we always got to go to the beach long ago, even made a field trip there one year in school.

Hi Everyone, My husband and I took a trip to Corcoran last week for a visit with my sister. Maybe some of you might remember them, Mae and Joe Moll. They have lived on Estes Ave. forever it seems. Joe retired from Boswells feed mill across from the railroad tracks. Maybe some of you guys may have worked some of your summers there. Wayne, my sister and your sister Rene were best of friends.Mae really had a time with Rene`s death. They were so close. Her and Gene and Mae and Joe played cards every week together too. We drove past the old High School and it still looks the same except it looks as if it could use a new coat of paint. We also visited in Porterville where Chuck graduated from high school. He still has a sister and son and daughter-law living there. Well take all of you. Betty Wolf

Hi All, Was just in Hanford for a funeral and ran into Charlie Toledo. He wasn't aware of this site or of upcoming reunion. So, I did tell him about your website and he said he would check it out. I am planning to attend God willing. Phyllis

Hello again to everyone,:: Well I am sorta of sad today. We sold our houseboat that we have had for 24 years. We had it so long that it was just like a part of us. I was really a neat houseboat . My husband had added all of the nicetties and etc that it needed to make it comfortable and enjoyable. I am not really sure just why we sold it. Some one just came along and offered us a real good price that we couldn`t turn down. But we have many, many happy memories up at the lake with our children and later with the grand children. All was really attached and sad when we sold it.We shared some of the profit with all of them so that made them happier of course. Chuck (my husband) is quite a fisherman so he taught all of them to fish too. I never did get into it to much myself but enjoyed everything else that went along with having the boat. It was docked at Lake Don Pedro. About an hours drive from home. He still has his bass boat so he will continue to fish but it won`t be the same for me. You all probly think I am silly but just wanted to share my thought with you. Have a good day. Betty Wolf

It sure is nice to see 2 new females adding notes. Billy C. remind me closer to May and I'll be happy to meet you if I'm not in Reno...remember it starts May 4th. Any of you who are listed on the "Classmates" web site please log in and send a message to Virgil Eugene Sills.....he hasn't answered me yet and also Paul Luzano....he is new on the site. Lets see if one of us can get a response from them. We'd have 2 more "found" then. Charlie Toledo if you read this get in touch we'd love to hear from you too. We just might reach 100 if we all work together. jacque

Hey Jacque, If I remember it in May, I certainly will. I am really looking forward to this trip out there. I will be by myself as the DL will be working still. Anyway, I am sure it will be a great time.

Hi everyone, I had a nice conversation with Michael Baker, his wife Ann and his younger brother John yesterday morning. We met at the Coffee Pot, which is down on the embarcadero in Morro Bay. It is so interesting "catching up" with old classmates. I learned something too. How many of you read these comments but are affraid to sign in and say Hi! How about just signing in the first time and writing one sentence? It is fun getting to know you again and we won't be strangers at the Reunion, we'll really be old friends. jt

Sep 24, 2002 at 15:34:45 BillyC
Hi everyone. I agree with Jacque. Stop by and say HI to us. We'll be glad to hear from you. I personally, being semi-retired and all, stop by and check the comments about 3 or 4 times a day to see if anyone else has comments to enter in this group. Jacque, I see you getting results at the Coffeepot. That's great. BillyC

Another rainy day in Baton Rouge. The center of a tropical storm will pass to the east of us. That makes us the "dry side". We should only get some "easy" rain continuous for a day or so. A few years back we had a hurricanes center pass 15 miles to the west of our home. We had 24 inches of rain "a inch / hour"and were without power for a week. Power lines and trees don't mix. I would expect to lose power and internet cable off and on today and maybe tomorrow. Try to imagine California after 24 inches of rain in 24 hours and 100 mph wind. People here say they don't know how you could live in California with the earthquakes. I just tell them that by the time you figure out what's going on its over. Here they get on the TV and tell you a tornado or hurricane is heading for you. In the 25 years we have been here we have met with around ten hurricanes and four tornados. Nothing but dumb fun! Dave

Hi, We're still here. Its still raining. I should take a vacation to the California Central Coast and dry out in the fog. Thanks to Dorothy McDonald and Jacque we added Jimmie Roberson to our member list. I had a chemistry class with Jimmie at COS sometime in the '60. I didn't have to promise the professor I'd never take another chem. class, but I should have. Dave

Glad you're still there, Dave. The DL and I went to Slidell, LA, in 1969 for a friend's wedding. We stayed in another of my AF friend's house while we were there. a short time after we left, Camille came up the gulf coast and did her nastiness from LA to FL. The eye past near Slidell and really blew the place apart. Fortunately both of my friends were away at the time. The house we stayed in was pretty lucky. Trees all around the house were blown down, but none of them hit the house. The only damage was the power went off for a few days and Dick's Angel fish died. That was all he lost. He and his family were away in a training class up in Washington State at the time. The gulf area is not a particularly nice place to be sometimes. I was in Biloxi several years later, 1972, and the beaches along the gulf were still closed and US 90 was still a mess in some places. We were in Ft Walton Beach, FL for two years until the summer of 74, and had several hurricanes and tornadoes visit us, but not as bad as Camille. At least you're getting some rain from Isidore. amd I thing we will get some of it here in Indiana later today. We haven't had much rain in a long time. I've only had to cut our grass three times this summer. We really need it. BillyC

Sep 27, 2002 at 11:25:16 David Gilbert (Baton Rouge)
What a wonderful place. Today we have bright blue sky and everything is green. Billy you mentioned cutting the grass three times! The guy that cuts our grass drives a Cadillac Pickup. The yard is cut 30 times a year. The Lord put people in Louisiana to cut grass, rake leaves and collect flood insurance.
Sep 27, 2002 at 12:58:01 BillyC
Hi Dave, Last year I had to cut the grass once a week, and it only takes a day and a half here at the motel. This year only three times. Why? In the Spring and early summer, too much rain. Couldn't run the tractor on the soft ground. Then it stopped raining. Isidore came by last night and this morning. Cincinnati and parts of the tri-state got 3 - 6 inches of rain. We were on the edge of the path, we got 1 - 2 inches only, and the heavier part was less than 3 miles to the East of us. It didn't bother me too much, but the antique farm machinery show got kind of muddy. The will probably have to use some of their antiques to get out of the mud. It just got started at 3:00 pm here as I was leaving for Cincinnati to go to my bowling league. I ran into the rain on the way there, but it wasn't too bad. Cleaned my car off anyway. Now it has stopped and we will get the sunshine tomorrow. Now all we have is the clouds and flooding creeks. BillyC

Dave/BillyC::::What the hell does rain look like? In our area the only rain we see is from sprinklers, irrigation ditches, canals, lakes, etc. We have to build holding ponds in the subdivisions just to hold 10" a year. I think everyone here builds swimming pools just to make sure they have water. In fact that reminds me that if you haven't heard about Alpaugh they raised their water to 85.00 a month and it is undrinkable. They have to use bottled water.::::Hard to believe isn't it, too much in a lot of places and barely enough out here.::::JimG::::

Hey, JimG, I remember what that area is like. I think it rained once in our junior year, or maybe sophmore. My brother married a girl from Alpaugh,or maybe the one girl from out there. Oh yeah, she did have a younger sister. They did have some bad water out there. Even though we get some rain here, it's nothing like the Fareast. Once in Taiwan, it rained for thirty days straight like in one of our heaviest thunderstorms here in Ohio. Our road out of the mountains was washed out in five different places, and we had to go down the back way to get to Taipei. And then we had to drive 10 miles on a road that was covered by water. We just followed the telephone poles 'til we got to the visible road. I feel for you guys out there this year. We got at least .003 inches of rain per month. I personally liked not have to cut the grass every week for a change. The only thing growing was weeds, now the grass will start growing again since we got a couple of inches, and I will have to start my tractor going again. At least the leaves started coming down in the middle of September instead of waiting til November.

Today we are on the hunt for Virgil and Doyle Sills. A unknown visitor to the site emailed me last night saying Doyle lived in White City OR. and Virgil lives in Reno, NV! I've emailed the visitor back asking for more information. Doyle and Virgil are cousins. Virgil goes by Gene and Eugene.

I hate to keep harping on the same old subject, but it is raining buckets here. This morning I thought a 747 just cleared the top of the house. It was just rain with some rolling thunder. My brother is out there somewhere between here and Nashville. I hope he keeps to the north for a day. This storm will pass to the west of us..so we are in for 1 in/hr rain and 75 m/hr wind. 750,000 people have already left South Louisiana. Fun Fun.

Dave and anybody in the wetlands,::::I want to know if you guys have boats tied to your porch like storm cellars in the midwest. Man if it rained like that here Tulare Lake would be full from Corcoran to Stockton. ::::JimG::

hey classmates, I solved the lawn problem by moving to Palm Desert!! Onlything green at my place is the fifth fairway lut my back door the rest is pure desert rock. Sure could luse some of that Louisiana rain down here. I am glad to see the pieces coming together for a great big get togethere in Reno. Betty I do remember May Moll and the good times she had with my sister Lorene. WE can toast her in Reno. I think Elvira, Marie, and Dave are doing great things with this website and the news. lets all send our money in to Elvira soon so she won't panic. Also get the rooms requested soon, it shows the hotel that we are a good group and well organized. If we have ask for a larger block of rooms they will look to see the current room count before they commit more. Excuse the many typos but the shingles are still with me in the left arm and it hurts like @#@#@#@#. 2 months with no end in sight. I am getting my desktop hooked up next week with some instruction so my address will change but I will post it tothe class list. Keep on talking this is fun. WC

Well. the dl just heard from one ofher college classmates and they are having their 40th reunion next year in June, so both of us will get to see old friends. She went to her first reunion about 10 years ago. She said she had trouble recognizing anyone. She said she walked into the room and the only thing she saw was a bunch of old people!! Then she realized she was one of them, too. Oh, think of the alternative. I'll be glad to see you all again after so long.

For all yo'all that take a short cut around the front door. You need to stop and look at it. I've been playing. There is a search engine just for the site. Put your name in. There is a countdown to 5-4-03 3:00 PM. Thats the time we will all feel our age. Also, there is a very simple chat room on the site. Not like the last one. You can go in and write on the walls. When you leave the walls are cleaned. You go in and write your a name at the top and punch enter. You write at the bottom and again enter to put it up. Punch log out to log out. I don't know what all them other buttons are for. Need something to read? Go to Julia's place on the Photo page. CU all.

Hi, I talked to Barbara Dailey Kulukjian yesterday about the Corcoran class pictures her dad took in the 50's. She told me the Delano Fire Dept had her Dad get rid of a lot of old negitive because they were a fire hazard. The Corcoran negitives were part of that group. We lost the negatives, but gained Barbara. She is looking forward to going to Reno. Dave

Hey Guys and Girls ...... David's away so we quit writing? Let's surprise him and have a few more comments added when he gets back. Halloween is coming up does anyone remember the great Halloween night at the grammer school when we were 4th and 5th graders? We had a parade on the school grounds and then the PTA had different activities in the classrooms. My grandaughter goes to school in Cayucos, her school is k thru 8th. The whole school has a parade at 11 am down the main street for 3 blocks, first on one side then they cross over to the other side, stop at a candy store where they are each given a sucker, and back to the school. Half the town (mostly retired) and of course most of the grandparents turn out for the parade. Then the school has a "carnival" for the kids that evening. Teachers and children wear their costumes all day. It could never happen in a large town. This school has required swimming lessons for all classes including kindergarten for all of May each year..... you live at the beach, you should know how to swim. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you in May or sooner if you decide to come meet Lu Chi Fa aka Gordon Lu, read his book it's super. If you buy it (the book) at his restaurant in Morro Bay I'll meet you for breakfast or lunch. Let's get writing so that David has something to read when he gets home from vacation. jacque

Hey Dave, Rosemary::::Just to let you know every group has to have a leader and Jacque said we should say something. Well I know one thing is that you guys are probably heading to California for your vacation and if you have a laptop with you, which I am sure you do, come on by to see us. We live in Tulare if you remember how to get here besides hitch hiking from Corcoran to Tulare like we use to in the summers to go swimming at the Blue Moon. ::::Seriously give us a call and we will get togther and catch up on what's going on.::::We will be waiting to hear from you guys,::::Jim and Arlene::::P.S. - If you forgot the office name to call it is Carl and Irving Printers . . . and ask for Jim figure that one out at {559} 686-8354 . . . we are ALWAYS there!::::

Hi guys and girls, I was wondering where everyone went. It's nice to see someone else writing comments here. I really miss the chat room and chatting with the people there. This chat room we have now is somewhat lacking, unless you like to talk with yourself. ICQ is a nice site, I was on there several years ago chatting with my sons in MA and CT, and my sisters in ID and Lancaster CA. My sons were also hooked up with their cousins in Lancaster for a while. My ICQ number is 40690661. If you have never used it, check it out at ICQ.com. I'm sure we could set up our own Corcoran 1956 chat room there. It is something to think about. New subject. Is there a street number for Vera to send out payments to, or just the address that Dave posted?

Billy I think the address that David posted for Vera is a street (365 Fox Meadow Way) where are you looking? jt

Hi Jacque, thanks for the info on the address. I took it from Dave's 9/18 post. I didn't see any choices re the meals. What are they? Thanks.

Oct 27, 2002 at 21:27:21 BillyC
Hey Shadbaby, I was one of the smallest kids in our class, No one ever tried to beat on me. I guess it wasn't worth the effort. Glad to see you on here, don't be a stranger...BillyC.

Billy.......Vera is the lady in charge.....write her and ask.......her email is in the class list..... have you clicked on reunion 03 to see what is there? I'm sure the food choices will be good, BUT tell me are you going for the food or to visit and get reaquainted with your classmates? Good to see someone new signing in.......come on I know more of you are reading this....give David & Rosemary a real surprise....sign in and write a line or two or just sign in and say Hi, see you in Reno on May 4th....the counter says there are alot more people reading than signing in and sending all the class a big HI. jt

OOPS, egg on my face. The last time I checked that place, something else was there. Thanks for the reminder, Jacque.::This will be a first for me, I've never paid that much for a dinner in all my life, but the pleasure of the company involved will make it a small token at any price. I will be sending Vera a letter as soon as I get away from the Doctor and Dentist's offices today, if they leave me with any money after they do their stuff.::::Come on, readers but not signers, show us your stuff.

Oct 29, 2002 at 15:08:46 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Will, what a surprise! Jim, I'm sorry I didn't get to see everyone I would have liked to, but this vacation was a Oldham girls vacation. The three sisters and their three daughters. They did allowed me to stop in Delano and talk to Barbara, eat at the Coffee Pot in Morro Bay and have dinner with a old friend. The friend, in my opinion, is the most successful member of this group. I have been eating dinner for 64 years (23,000+) and had my best last week. The dinner was to be a picnic, but because of the timing and weather it turned into a sit down meal for sixteen at one table! WOW! Billy, the cost of the meal in Reno is inflated to take care of all the additional cost incurred by putting on the reunion. I'm not involved with the reunion, but I can imagine the expense. What would be nice is that you sent Vira a little more than she thinks Maria and her can put it on for. We have found two new members, David Bowron of Black Hawk, SD and Joyce Mills Hensley of Grover Beach, CA. Do you want a place on this site that show any page that has been added, deleted or revised during the last month?

Oct 30, 2002 at 21:19:10 Dave (Baton Rouge)
Ok, David Bowron was in the class behind us. I asked him to come to our party in Reno. We have Bill Brown, a graduating senior, in Raytown, Mo. When I get all his address I'll send it to Vera.

Oct 31, 2002 at 09:54:18 BillyC
Welcome back Dave, glad to see you rounding up some new people. Of Course while you were gone, I see we were connected again. The guy that reported the DC sniper was from a town across the river from Cincinnate in Ludlow KY, the DL and I used to go there for Clogging Lessons a few years back, really a little place in the road smaller than Corcoran. And of course the old sniper was from Baton Rouge. just a coincidence I'm sure. I was telling Vera in letter to her with the dinner signup, that I never ate any seafood growing up in Corcoran or any fish of any kind due to maternal fear of getting a bone caught in her throat, at least that is the reason she gave, and we never ate steak of any kind. On my first graduation day at Yale in 1957, I went wild and had swordfish stake, I was really surprised that it was so good. Then later after I got to Korea, I had my first steak at the Airmens Club at Osan AB, it was filet mignon of course, now that combo is the first one on the dinner choices we get. It is strange that all of these coincidental things are popping up. Anyway, See you in Reno.

My sister has loaned me a stack of 1952-53 Panther Tails. I have been going through them and scanning every article that mentions a classmate. One article from 11-10-52 that I didn't scan had to do with the retirement of T.K. Brown from the school board. He had serve
