Thomsons

Born June 27, 1938, in Los Angeles. Arrived in Corcoran in the spring of 43.  Dad worked as a District Mgr. for Arden Farms Co with a shipping facility in Corcoran. Lived at 915 Estes.

Dad was promoted to a Regional Mgr. in 1952 with main offices in Fresno - we moved 12/54. Finished HS at San Joaquin Memorial, attended Business College.

Met John at Pismo 2/56 while on winter break from HS.  Married January 4, 1958, have lived in San Luis Obispo for 45 years.  Four children Julie, Jonelle, John jr. and Jason.

John obtained his Contractor's license & purchased his employers plumbing business in 1964 - I managed the office.  He retired 9/00 I finished the paper work, collected the receivables, & retired in 2002.  In addition, from 1/79 through 1/94 I worked in the business office of a local hospital while still running the plumbing office.

Besides the usual hauling of children and horse trailer towing, I was a 4-H sewing leader; California High School Rodeo Secretary for District 7 & served on the board of the Wranglerettes, a girl's equestrian precision drill team.  I spent many vacations at the local fair.  The 3 oldest showed horses, steers and lambs while I washed white uniforms multiple times a day.  I have logged many hours on many bleachers while watching my 4 participate in little league & Babe Ruth baseball, football, wrestling, and girls basketball. Plus horse shows, Jr. Rodeo, high School rodeo, College rodeo and PRCA rodeo.  I swore off sitting on bleachers for the rest of my life!

I've become an expert at cooking all types of wild game, game birds, and fish.  I haven't purchased a can of Tuna since 72' because I can my own.  I have fished from the Queen Charlotte Strait, British Columbia to the Sea of Cortez and the Gulf of Mexico off of Belize.  Dorado is the most fun to catch but I really prefer to snorkel in Mexico & Belize, watch the Bald Eagles catch Salmon in BC, and the Whales (3 different kinds), dolphins, sea turtles and sea life around the boat where ever we fish.

My Hobbies include reading, genealogy, knitting, sewing, photography, growing good smelling flowers and last but not least I love to travel.  I prefer adventures rather than relaxing vacations and would rather spend money on trips than cars.

At Present I am on the Board of Director's of the 2000 member San Luis Obispo Sportsmen's Association and am a member of the Catholic Women's Guild.

So far my family has increased to include 2 daughters in law, Kathi and Shawna, 1 son in law Nick Vlasis, 2 ready made grandchildren Greg Vlasis 21,a medic in the Army and Nikki Neal 15, a High School freshman (Kathi's).  Plus 1 granddaughter Taylor who is turning 8 in July and has me back on the bleachers watching horse shows and soccer.  In addition, 3 family members I can't forget to mention, Bob the cat, my pal Ace and John's Zippy the enforcer.
