David Gilbert

Gilberts

Rosemary and David were married Aug. 1956. David was in the Army and on his way to Japan. Rosemary followed a few months later and their oldest son Dave was born in Tokyo. They returned to Corcoran where their other two children, Dennis and Melissa, were born. After a variety of jobs, David returned to school, graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1973 and went to work for Bechtel Power Corporation. From then on Bechtel kept the family on the move. They lived in the state of Washington, Maryland, Mississippi, Cairo Egypt, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

They finally retired and settled in Baton Rouge, because all three children had graduated from LSU and lived there. All have since moved, one to Florida, one to Prairieville, LA. ( twenty minutes away ) and the other is off sailing the seven seas.

Then they got un-retired and for 14 years, Rosemary and David owned and operated a week-end flea market, where they had an antique store and old Lionel train shop. Now.. they have really retired. Antiques and toy trains are still their hobbies and they seem to always have a project in the works.

Their two sons, Dave and Dennis, are Civil and Chemical Engineers. Daughter Melissa has a degree in Business Administration and Computer Communications. The light of their life are their 3 children, a son-in-law and 2 daughters in laws, and 3 beautiful granddaughters and 3 handsome grandsons.
Our daughter and her husband purchased a 38' catamaran in 2003. They sold their business, cars, house  and everything else at a mother of all garage sales. Then sailed off in December of 2004 saying the would try it for 5 years. They have since visited the Florida keys, the Bahamas, US East Coast and around the Caribbean. They recently returned to the states for the first time in 1 1/2 years and are on their way up the East Coast. They have an excellent web site at http://www.indigomoon.us
David lost Rosemary: His best friend, companion and love of his life on April 23, 2007.
